Pediatrician Macy Carter has been so busy expanding her practice she's had no time to build the family she craves. Her late, much-loved surrogate father apparently had some matchmaking in mind when he arranged for a sexy architect to take over his home and company. Too bad Derek is a single dad who's been there, done that, and intends to remain unattached. Their priorities are totally out of sync. Their chemistry? Unbelievably potent.
Thanks to his former mentor, Derek Logan just inherited an architectural business, a house and the gorgeous client next door. He's keeping away from forever relationships, but this doctor's sensual touch is addictive. Helping Macy build her dream medical complex awakens Derek to how much more he now wants out of life. But has he hesitated too long to prove he's ready for and deserving of her love?

I read this story several years ago, and this revamped, renewed version was a good as the first time. Dr. Macy Carter and Derek Logan were bamboozled into a relationship by a close friend. Derek was a single father and Macy was hoping to have one of her own. Their friend Noah made sure to give this couple a chance to help one another reach their goals. A great second read.
This is my first time reading a book by the author "Sharon Cooper" and I have to say, I liked it. When two characters are forced to be around each other with the amount of sexual tension that these two have, it's no wonder my book didn't go up in flames while I read it. Pediatrician Macy Carter and single dad Derek are in lust from the moment they meet. The problem is, Derek has a wounded heart and refuses to open his heart to another woman and Macy refuses to settle for anything less than what she deserves. They both know their heart's in trouble, but can't refuse the pull they have towards one another.
It's a story about a man who has it all and yet has nothing and a woman whose past reinforces her desire for a family.
Never let your past keep you from your future. It's the lesson we receive after reading the story of Derek and Macy. Noah was the godsend that brought the two together. After reconciling that their love for one another was worth the gamble, we see how past insecurities are overcame so that happiness and ever after could be shared.
Fear holds Derek Logan back from loving the best woman that he ever loved since his ex-wife. Macy Carter wants marriage, babies and forever. Sharon Cooper gave us twists and turns in this old fashion love affair. Great book lots of spices.
Macy and Derek are thrown together after their surrogate father/ mentor Noah passes away and uses his will to push them further together. Macy, a pediatrician and Derek, a single father architect, are at different stages in life, but working together softens their hearts to each other. After reading Iris's story, Legal Seduction, I couldn't wait to see what happened with her sisters Macy and Janna. Now that Ms. Cooper has given us a great HEA for Macy, let's see what she does with super model Janna.
Very good! Derek Logan has given up on love since his ex-wife walked out on him and their infant son. Dr Macy Carter has been hurt by love, but she still wants it all. Derek's former mentor has other ideas and his will puts them in the same city as neighbors. Their priorities may not be the same, but the chemistry between them is potent.
I love the fact that this story gives an example that we all go through heart ships in lives whether it's in our past or present its if you want to bring this to your future and how you deal it is up to you.
I can see this book as a movie. Noah's illness was written so well I could feel him being strong. Macy and Derek were made for each other and both had a fear of being alone and unloved.
Who wouldn't want someone to love you so much that they would leave their substantial fortune plus a multi-million dollar company, a commercial building, and trust funds for your children? This is exactly what a well to do widower did for our Macy a product of the foster care system now a successful Pediatrician who he became a surrogate father for and our Derek his mentee who is also a renowned architect suffering from trust issues due to his ex wife leaving him with a young baby to raise. Based on the stipulations in their benefactor's will one would readily presume that Noah (their benefactor) was setting them up to be each other's healing balm. Oh I forgot he also bought Derek a mini mansion right next door to Macy! Noah stipulated that Derek relocate from where he was living before Noah passed on. I smell set up! It worked and after some trials and tribulations between our Architect and our Pediatrician they actually did fall in love finally found their happily ever after. I enjoyed this story a lot.
Well, Noah's match making was definitely a success. This situation could've been very different in so many ways, especially if you were told that I don't want marriage or more kids, but you did. Even if you haven't experience the joys of marriage and kids of your own, but yet still chose to stay and put your wants and needs aside because of your love for this person. I enjoyed getting to know their personalities and the ups and downs or should I say the roller coaster ride of Derek's and Macy's situationship before that soul bond made it into a forever relationship. This was a great read for me. ReneeG 👍
Derek and Macy love story was a very delightful to read about. They had an instant attraction that they both tried to fight but thanks to Noah, they ended up exploring that attraction. A broken man is worse than a broken woman because most women tends to be open to love again but it's harder for men to do the same. I'm glad that Derek worked through his trust issues and gave Macy what her heart desired most.
In every novel, I love the plots, mostly all the characters, the various history lessons, and the absolute erotic scenes or images conveyed throughout the novels. I especially loved Iris, Macy, and Jenna’s love for each other and their lovers. I am at the beginning of Jenna’s love story. As usual, you are a phenomenal author.
I'm happy that these older books have been released again! This is certainly proof of the genius, talent and gift this author demonstrates. Enjoyable story that demonstrates money does not need to change people. Better was the growth moving from past hurts and maintaining one's wants.
Good story. A single father and a pediatrician make a good match. The only problem, they want two different things, will they be able to work things out. See them maneuver this relationship.
Noah was an Angel in disguise! It took Macy and Derek awhile to let their guard down and get to know each other. I'm glad they finally accepted what was meant to be. This author never disappoints. Book 3 is waiting, gotta go!
This series is two-for-two so far, for me. I liked the simmering attraction between Macy and Derek, and the building heat and feelings between them. I also loved the updates on Iris and Nash. Will definitely be getting the next one.
Macy and Derek started out gawking at each other but not acting on it. Sadly but as fate would have it they were thrust into each other’s lives. I enjoyed reading about them even if I did want to bop Derek at time or two. This one is as good ad #1.
This was so unserious lol. That’s all I have. There’s no rating because I skimmed most of the ending because the insta love vibes were present and accounted for and I was over it, while also being a glutton for punishment apparently.
I know Kimani has a "formula" for their books. And rarely do they ever deviate. This is frustrating at times because the books become too predictable, and the characters too one-dimensional. This book was no different, but she was able to pull off an ok read within those parameters. It's an interesting enough story and struggle between these two characters (mostly internal), we get carried away to a cute small town, and there's enough backstory to make us care about the characters' well-being. But at times it felt like I was reading a "Lifetime" movie and overall, it wasn't very memorable.
