This was quite excellent; I don't want the 3-star rating to fool you! It is always good to hear how others have risked the unknown to discover a knowable God. (Like any intimate relationship, we will never know our Creator fully, but faith is the adventurous trust that He/She is Love and is only understood when experienced.) What I see as both a strength and a shortcoming here is that we receive only part of the story of each of these testimonies—good, because we get more of them, and not-so-good, because there's so much more left untold.

The basic premise is that we live our lives "as normal" but offer that heartfelt request to encounter the Divine. "'Your Kingdom come' is dangerous if you really mean it, because you're surrendering to God's plans and letting go of your own. When we pray this Kingdom prayer, we are giving over the center of our life to the King of kings, who truly is meant to be at the center. And rather than clinging to our way or following our own will, we embrace God's plan for our lives. The outcome could mean sacrifice. The journey may bring uncomfortable situations or perhaps some adversity. But it's so worth the ride!" And I totally agree!

It's also worth noting that Ms. Fuller does not encourage self-focused prayers such as divorce. She advises, "If the dangerous prayer doesn't line up with God's principles and Word, avoid praying it." I've found that the most dangerous prayers involve staying right where I am, and letting the Spirit of life change me. (Changing my surroundings is simply an invitation to the same situation in another setting.) Rather, this book could do with stressing the importance of daily mediation in the Bible itself, not what others tell you it says.

I found the storytelling style appropriate for young teens, which may pose some difficulty in marketing. Those who need it the most--such a volatile age!--are most likely to reject it for not being too cool, or out of touch as these are primarily stories of adults. It seems the type of book that one wouldn't pick up unless he were in dire straights, which isn't such a bad thing, but what I'm saying is that it's the typical bored youngling who's in the best place to realize if his way isn't working then it's time to let go and let God. Who's not looking for the adventure of a lifetime? Why not start as soon as possible, if not sooner!

When Barbour Publishing Company offered to send Dangerous Prayer in exchange for my honest review, I jumped at the chance to read it because of the intriguing title. What is a dangerous prayer? I had to find out. Not only did I learn the meaning of the title, but I also couldn’t put the book down. Cheri Fuller is a gifted writer whose stories are both fascinating and suspenseful. I couldn’t wait to turn each page in order to learn the ways in which different people accepted God’s plan after He placed a dangerous prayer on their hearts.

The author shares her own experiences as well as those of others such as historical people, the first missionary in the Bible, a high school student, an addict, and a Muslim. Each chapter focuses on a prayer and the story about someone overcoming despair, doing unexpected things, or traveling to places they never thought they would go—places like China, Thailand, Africa, Brazil, an orphanage, and a Christian church for example. One of Fuller’s dangerous prayers sent her to a prison. Some of the stories are difficult to read because of the suffering involved, but they show how God stays and works beside those who surrender to his plan.

Some of the dangerous prayers answered by God in these stories include:

• “God, do whatever you need to do.”
• “Break my heart for people.”
• “Lord, show me the way.”
• “What do you want me to do?”
• “Lord, show me what is on your heart.”
• “Use me, God!”

I highly recommend Fuller’s book. Each chapter is an adventure story about people whose lives were changed forever because God answered their dangerous prayers and they responded.

Inspirational messages of dangerous prayers that have been prayed and how God changed lives through those prayers. Very motivating to pray more meaningful and scary prayers with the anticipation of God answering by changing your life too.

Cheri Fuller shares with her readers the power of praying dangerously in Dangerous Prayer: Discovering Your Amazing Story Inside the Eternal Story of God.
Cheri Fuller does a remarkable job of sharing stories of how people who prayed “dangerous” prayers to God found themselves living in new countries, in new cities and towns, in new homes among loved ones or strangers. When God listens and responds to their prayers, their lives and/or others’ lives are transformed.
When I first picked up Cheri Fuller’s latest book on prayer, I paused because the title, Dangerous Prayer, printed in a dark red capital letters, did not bring thoughts of safety and comfort but ones of warning and change. I thought, “What have I gotten myself into now?” Then, my eyes focused on the second part of Fuller’s book title, Discovering Your Amazing Story Inside the Eternal Story of God, I decided that contents might be interesting and less intimidating.
As I read I became aware of the elements of a dangerous prayer, a prayer made with all of one’s being out of passion, desperation, or hope for God to move in that person’s life or another’s life and with a willingness to say “yes” to follow in the direction God leads. I discovered that I have on various occasions in my life prayed and lived out of various dangerous prayers. (What are examples of people’s life-changing prayers? Hint: Read the book to find out.)
Also, I realized that my time spent within the pages within the stories, was well spent. Whether I read a personal account from Fuller, Biblical story, or other true life accounts, I experienced God’s powerful presence and movement in response to their heartfelt prayers. God presented as the main character every time, along with supporting storyteller. Spoiler alert: one of my favorite quotes is on page 222:
One important thing I learned from my elderly friend is that although the project or mission God calls us to may be different from hers, the same God has a plan to use each of us for His great purposes – no matter our age or what stage of life.
I felt encouraged to see that in God’s eyes we matter so much more than our age if we are willing to follow and serve.
Fuller concluded each story with the very words prayed by each storyteller. She briefly showed how the outcome of the prayer revealed God’s promises carried out then and still being carried out today.

Author Cheri Fuller begins her book Dangerous Prayer with a question: "Have you ever prayed a dangerous prayer"? She then explains that while this kind of prayer is nothing new, it needs to be rooted in the Bible and the person praying it has to turn his efforts over to God and be willing to do His will.

Fuller devotes twenty-one chapters to illustrate what can happen when God's people pray dangerous prayers. She reminds us of Hannah, who was childless until she promised in her dangerous prayer that if God would give her a child, she would willingly give that child back to Him. Hannah obeyed her prayer and gave her small son Samuel back to serve God.

Another example is the Samaritan woman at the well who asked Jesus for the Living Water that would guarantee that she would never be thirsty again. This was a very dangerous prayer because a Samaritan woman asking for help from a Jewish man was certainly taboo in that culture.

Both of these illustrations are well-known Bible stories but in this book we meet, among others, a teenager who prayed a very dangerous prayer and a seventy-six year old woman who uttered the most dangerous prayer of all: "Yes, Lord". Cheri Fuller also relates some of her own experiences praying dangerous prayers so chapter after chapter, we are shown examples of how a willing, submissive heart and a dangerous prayer can strengthen our walk with God and enable us to grow as Christians.

Bible scriptures in each chapter enhance the stories and the final chapter offers questions that will help each reader to begin to pray their own dangerous prayers and start to do what God has called them to do. I can see Dangerous Prayers being used by individuals in their personal devotions and also in Bible Study groups. Cheri Fuller has given readers a valuable resource and I highly recommend it.

I would like to thank Barbour Publishing for offering me a copy in exchange for my honest, unbiased review.

My what intriguing title was my first thought when I saw this book.

What exactly did the author mean by a dangerous prayer?

Most of us when we go to our Lord in prayer are thankful for our many blessings and the trials that God lays on our hearts. A trial maybe the illness of a loved one or maybe situation that guidance is needed, but do we ever stop and ask what God wants us to do? Do we ever say "Whatever you need Lord" or simply "Use me!".

In this book Cheri Fuller explains what a dangerous prayer is and shares stories of people who have prayed those prayers, stepped out of their comfort zones and went on to accomplish some great works that have made a huge difference to others.

When I started reading this book I had a hard time putting it down. Each story touched my heart. Some of the stories show people stepping out on a large scale and others on a small scale. Taking the first step is the most important and then letting God lead the way. The very last chapter challenges the reader if they are ready to pray that dangerous prayer and reap the rewards of it.

A wonderful book full of insight into doing good works for God.

I would recommend this to anyone.

The concept dangerous prayer was one that very much interested me and I eagerly started reading. I was surprised to find it was 20 inspirational stories, but still that was fine. Many of the stories were inspiring, and I wholly agree with the premise that true followers of Christ should expect suffering persecuation, pain and sorrow... not comfort, ease, health and at all times protection... willing to do and follow where ever Christ would lead. However, as I read the book I grew more hesitant... what was the full story behind these storoes? Who were these people and what did they believe? It seemed more and more the "inspiration" of their story was dramatized and not very much God focused or based on biblical truth... more new age, mysticism, and using testimonies of even people who completely rejected the faith this book praises them for. Some of these stories it never even says that they were saved or how/when. A wonderful idea of a book and still encouraged me again to pray boldly for the will of God in my life, but I couldn't recommend this book to anyone just because of some of the characters and morals endorsed or included within. I really did try to like it.

Stepping out of your comfort zone...

Dangerous Prayer is a fascinating read. It's filled with personal stories of some remarkable people. People who have stepped outside their comfort zones and asked God to use them. Cheri Fuller helps us to see what we can all do for God, in ways that we could never imagine. Not all “dangerous prayers” lead to scary situations....every person has a purpose and it's up to us to step out in faith and ask God to use us. I recommend this book to those wanting to do more in their lives for God, especially those afraid to do so.

I was given a copy of this book by Barbour Publishing for my honest review. I was under no obligation to give a positive review.

From the very first chapter I was hooked. Having a prayer time, a consistent prayer time has always been a desire of mine. Now I've added the dangerous prayer time to my day. I've always admired those I've called "Prayer Warriors" in my life. That is something we can all strive for.

This book inspired me to work on this area. I have always prayed throughout the day. No set time, no structure, just pray as I felt led. I look forward to reading this through again and sharing it with friends.

Although I had preconceived ideas about my expectations for this book, it had such potential that didn't quite hit the mark. The truth about praying boldly was ingrained in the text, but the stories weren't always on pointe. I suppose I expected something different. That doesn't mean it wasn't a good book. It just had the potential for so much more.
