ARC REVIEW

This book was relatable and hilarious. The author had some seriously messed-up dates that will leave you questioning the dating pool. The ones that stood out were "The Guy who brought a friend", "The Caveman", and "The Nipple Guy" - yeah, you read that right. These dates were straight-up crazy. I mean, all her dates were certifiably insane, and I actually felt pretty bad for her. I wouldn't have wasted that much time on a dating app, but hey, it paid off for the author. Congrats to her, and cheers to the rest of us who are living our best single lives. Drop everything and read this book right now - trust me, you'll be entertained.

Thanks to Book Sirens for sending me an advanced copy to read and review.

Absolutely hilarious 😂😂😂 I was very intrigued from the first time I saw the book cover and knew I had to give this one a read. Viggy and her crazy dates has me thinking that never downloading Tinder is certainly the good decision 😂

5 stars for how entertaining this collection of crazy dating stories are. I read during my lunch breaks at work and was always laughing 😂

Thank you to BookSirens and the author for the chance to read an ARC. I’m leaving my review voluntarily and I loved it very much!

Being more familiar with Victoria (aka Viggy Parr Hampton) Parr's horror writing, The Tinder Chronicles humorously sheds light on a different kind of nightmare: modern dating. This book alone personifies the thought of "I'll laugh about this later" as she navigates the journey that led up to the meeting of her husband.

While quite a few of the stories may feel similar, what's great about this book is that it can be read out of order and at a quick pace. Some scenarios will make you cringe and some will actually surprise you and make you feel hopeful. Not ever having used a dating app myself, this was eye-opening and made me feel grateful to not need Tinder or other platforms. With that being said, the writer does not set out to offend or scare anyone away from putting themselves out there. What I liked about this book is that not every event was completely horrifying; some ended up on positive notes of friendship and professional networking. You will most likely groan at some of the machismo depicted here, but you will also laugh (the dates involving animals brought forth the most audible chuckles from me).

Although most of us have heard Tinder horror stories, this book offers a refreshing perspective of looking at dating as an adventure. Not that this doesn't have its fair share of embarrassment, but it was very interesting to experience a well-versed horror author finding the lightness and positivity in such personal experiences. With The Tinder Chronicles, the reader gets more than a fully fledged novel, but the revealing of the person behind the words. I feel even more intrigued to read more from such a well-rounded author.

ARC REVIEW-

If you’ve ever opened a dating app and immediately questioned your life choices, The Tinder Chronicles by Victoria Parr is basically your emotional support animal.

This book feels like someone hacked into my dating history, and replaced the tears with chaotic storytelling. Every chapter reads like a “this cannot be real” moment… except it absolutely is, because we’ve all met that guy. You know the one. The “I love deep conversations” guy who means aliens and crypto (honestly my type). The “Wannabe Rapper”, or the one that will “one-up” literally EVERYTHING you say.

Viggy mastered turning secondhand embarrassment into pure comedy. I found myself cringing, laughing, and occasionally whispering “noooo” like I was reading one of Viggy’s horror novels—but instead of ghosts (or nuns), it’s men actively wasting your time.

What makes this book so good is how painfully relatable it is. It’s the literary equivalent of texting your best friend “you will NOT believe what just happened” and then sending 47 follow-up texts and realizing “maybe I should just get a cat”

By the end, I felt seen, validated, and slightly concerned for all of us. If you’ve ever survived modern dating, this book is basically a badge of honor in paperback form.

10/10, would recommend—especially if you enjoy laughing at other people’s bad dates to cope with your own.

This book is pretty darn hilarious. It’s like being a fly on the walls of all your worst nightmare first dates. Some of these dates are annoying but harmless, some are vulgar and horrifying, and some make you cringe from secondhand embarrassment. What makes this collection even better is the author’s witty inner dialogue that paints a very clear picture of each date, and the “joys” of the dating game.

Some of my favorite stories from this collection are The High School Hunk (who wouldn’t want at least one shot to date their high school crush?), The Christian Choir Boy (who can’t carry a tune in a bucket), The Guy Who Followed Me at Work (yikes), The Med Student (cringe. I mean, if you’re going to try to brag, at least know what you’re talking about), and The Facebook Stalker (double yikes, but funny ending).

This gem of misfortunes is a fun read, and makes me very thankful I’m out of the dating world. I give it two enthusiastic thumbs up. 4.5 stars

A big thank you to the author for my arc. My opinion is my own.

If you're a Viggy Parr Hampton fan, you likely know her for her horror novels. This time, though, she tackles a different kind of horror — dating. If you've spent any time in the current dating world, this book is going to resonate hard.

Viggy shares stories from her Tinder dates through short, easy-to-digest chapters that make the book incredibly bingeable. You can read one before bed, a few on your lunch break, or sit down and fly through half the book in one go. Personally, I liked spacing the chapters out because I never wanted the hilarity, or the horrifying reality of modern dating, to end.

As a fellow former Tinder dater, I thought I had some wild stories… until I read Viggy’s. Suddenly mine didn’t seem so bad. I give her so much credit for continuing to put herself out there and giving people an in-person chance to prove themselves.

Thankfully, I did end up meeting the Tinderfella of my dreams, and we’ve now been married for 8 years.

Pick this one up if you want to laugh, cringe, cry a little, shake your head at humanity, and occasionally mutter, “ugh, men.”

I have never used a Dating App and this book convinced me that I don't think I have the stomach for it! I have read several of the author's horror books, but didn't realize what a great sense of humor she has!

Follow the adventures of a young woman just looking for some fun and possibly the love of her life through Tinder! You will meet a magician, a wanna be Rapper, a Dentist, an Optometrist, a thief, a cheapstake or two and lots of guys with weak stomachs (poor girl seems to pick those a lot!). Be prepared for more than a few slobs and unhygenic guys (UGH!) along the way.

Our intrepid heroine encounters a lot of misogynistic men, some well-meaning but creepy ones, but none that seem worthy of a second date. There are plenty of laugh out loud moments, so expect to spit your drink across the room while reading.

At least Viggy got some expensive contact lenses and a few free dental implants, so I guess it wasn't all bad! I'm sure I will probably reread this one the next time I need some good laughs! And, don't worry, the author does finally find the man of her dreams!

I'd like to preface this review by saying that I met my partner through a mutual friend just before my nineteenth birthday, and just before the TINDER REVOLUTION hit the world. Therefore, whether to my benefit or detriment (😉) I never experienced Tinder first-hand...

I had THE BEST TIME reading The Tinder Chronicles. It is a wholly unique premise filled with jaw-dropping moments. A veritable Bridget Jones for the Tinder generation. Perhaps ironically, it's one of those books that had me pestering my partner and saying, 'Oh my god, let me read this bit to you!'

If even half these stories are close to true, I weep for humanity!

Thank you to the author for an advanced copy of this book. It was the perfect beach read.

This was messed up but in such a hilarious but weirdly relatable way?

The dating pool has been uh draining over the years so I've seen some things and this was just such a hilarious collection of stories that you think, these are crazy, can't be true, but...

The cover, absolutely perfect and gave me a giggle.

I typically just bash through a shirt story collection but instead I read a few at a time and what a great part of the day that became, like Chicken Soup for the messy Tinder Readers Soul 😂.

I laughed and cringed so but it was like having the best girl talk, hey you aren't alone, dating IS a nightmare, in different ways.

Loved this and wouldn't mind seeing more like it in the future.

“The Tinder Chronicles” - *Swipes Right*

★★★★★

I haven’t snorted and laughed out loud whilst reading a book in a while (probably because most books I read are a dark and disturbing) but this collection of dating encounters cracked me up!

First of all, people who go on Tinder dates are brave! I could never and this book once again proved that if I ever ended up single, it would stay that way.

Viggy’s writing is brilliant and hilarious and this was such a fun read!
