Aria Wilson, the CEO of a multi-billion-dollar corporation, Symphony Haircare, has one tiny she needs a date for her sister’s high-society wedding and the whirlwind of pre-nuptial events. Her solution? A fake girlfriend. Her target? Kayla Evans, a tenacious journalist in need of a career-defining story.
Kayla can’t believe her luck. An exclusive, tell-all interview with the notoriously private Aria Wilson? It’s the story of a lifetime. All she has to do is pretend to be Aria’s adoring girlfriend for a few pre-wedding festivities and the big day itself. Easy, right?
What starts as a mutually beneficial business arrangement quickly blurs the lines between fiction and reality. They find themselves navigating champagne toasts, awkward family dinners, and the undeniable pull between them. With their fake relationship deepening, and the wedding date fast approaching, how long can they keep up the charade before their hearts are irrevocably entangled?
Styled for Show is a sizzling fake-dating romance about two ambitious women who discover that the best stories, and the truest loves, are often found where you least expect them.
I agree with another reviewer, this is the best fake relationship book I’ve read, and I also immediately subscribed to the author’s newsletter. I don’t always enjoy the fake relationship trope but this one was so well done. I also appreciated the POC representation and learned a lot about different types of hair. This book opened my eyes in a positive way. The reasons for the fake relationship were believable and I was fully onboard.
Kayla is a biracial woman who wants to be a hard hitting journalist but has been relegated to writing mostly entertainment fluff pieces at a magazine. She moved from North Carolina to Miami, FL where her father’s side of the family lives. She has a big beautiful family and enjoys Sunday dinners with them as well as monthly dinners with her cousin Jennifer. Her mom is back in North Carolina and lives with bouts of depression. In Kayla’s eyes her mom hasn’t been the same since her father died while in the service in Afghanistan. Since she saw the heartbreak her mom went through she has been afraid to get into a relationship herself. Kayla thinks her big journalism break could come by interviewing Aria Wilson the billionaire CEO for Symphony hair care, a product line that specializes in black hair.
Aria started the Symphony product line when she was in college studying to become a chemical engineer. When she decided to really focus on creating her own company her longtime serious girlfriend gave her an ultimatum and Aria chose starting her own company over something guaranteed and stable. After her heart was broken she vowed not to get into another relationship. Aria’s sister is about to get married and Aria has been feeling the pressure to be in a stable relationship. Usually she just dates Instagram models and has short flings. When she is approached by Kayla to do an interview her first instincts are to say no. She never does interviews. But then she gets the idea she will agree to the interview if Kayla will agree to be her fake girlfriend for all her sister’s wedding activities including a destination wedding in Grenada.
Eventually all the fake feelings start to develop into real feelings but each woman doubts the other feels the same. They tumble into bed but then decide it doesn’t mean anything. The relationship slowly builds into something real and it was a joy to watch each woman let their guard down. The main and side characters were well developed and I felt like I was there in the middle of their family dynamics. The spicy scenes were open door and extremely well written. I can’t wait to read more books from Candi Tab. Thank you for the ARC!
Aria is a workaholic ice queen billionaire CEO of a black hair care company she founded and runs with her three siblings. As the oldest, she feels the self-imposed pressure to be another parent to them and set a good example. So she does not handle it well when she gets laughingly called out by them about her dating life. Her sister tells her she can't bring some hoochie to her wedding. In a knee-jerk reaction to save face, she tells them she has a girlfriend and she's not skanky or trashy. Now she has to find someone who can stand up to the scrutiny and bring her to the wedding.
Kayla is a self-doubting journalist stuck writing puff pieces while wary of getting laid off. She sees getting an in-depth interview with Aria, who hasn't given an interview in a decade, as a chance to do the kind of writing she'd love to do and show her magazine she's an asset worth keeping.
While faking their relationship to Aria's family, and denying it to Kayla's, they get to know each other. They learn their similarities, and the ways they complement each other. Aria gets to see beyond the walls Kayla built to protect her heart, and emotional well-being. If you never fall in love, you can't fall apart when its over. And Kayla sees the real Aria hidden from the public. This powerful CEO is a Star Trek fan, a chemistry nerd, and is obsessed with crossword puzzles.
Throughout the course of the wedding events it becomes harder to ignore their attraction. And its obvious to the people around them. You get a front-row seat, with a dual POV, to Aria and Kayla falling in love.
These two are authentic, relatable characters who make all this Tropey Goodness believable. This is the book for you if you like; Sweet with your Spicy, Fake Relationships with real feels, siblings who are lovingly all up in your business, a Grandma who dishes sage wisdom with her baked Mac and Cheese, extended family dinners that bring all the crazy with the fabulous FOOD, an adorable scene-stealing pet dog who finds his person when Aria comes around, adult conversations that STILL manage to lead to a 3rd act break-up, and of course the Happy-Ever-After.
This was an easy, enjoyable read with likable characters that feel like real people. The story flows in a conversational style that is at times Laugh Out Loud, and at others, heartwarming. I'm glad I bumped this one up my ToBeRead list.
I received a free Advance Review Copy of this book thanks to the author and BookSirens. This is my honest review.
This is the best fake-relationship book I have read. I have now subscribed to Ms. Tab’s newsletter, added her books to my wishlist, and followed her on Amazon.
Styled for Show is a character driven romance that first lays the foundation of each of our MC’s in their own spheres, including what would become their driving motivation for proposing/agreeing to the fake dating relationship (henceforth FD), then introduces them to each other, and takes us on the journey with them from WTF was I thinking to HEA.
Aria and Kayla are both fully fleshed out with strengths and weaknesses, support structures, hobbies, family they love and who love them back, and believable reasons for entering into the FD relationship. I absolutely loved Kayla’s response to Aria’s FD proposal, and her reason for eventually agreeing had to be believable after her reaction and it was. Kayla and Aria’s friendship was believable as well; they had things in common, they obviously had some pretty big differences, they grew toward each other, and they challenged each other to be more in the ways… They each had strengths that complemented the other’s weaknesses, helping them grow as individuals as well as seeing their relationship grow, but without being the absolute dovetail in a way that was saccharine or over the top.
Conflicts were low to medium on the angst scale, and primarily internal; first how they each feel about the FD agreement, then later how each woman felt realizing she was falling for her “fake” g/f and assuming the other wasn’t falling in return. Although the FD agreement parameters came to a natural conclusion, I wouldn’t call that a third act breakup per se, and for that matter, this book avoided all of my most hated tropes, or if they were present, they were done so well that I can barely refer to it as a trope (thinking in particular of a moment the day after the wedding.)
Regarding the steamy scenes- yes, they’re here; yes, they are open door; yes, they are HOT. The level of profanity in this book hits the sweet spot, swearing happens sometimes because that’s life, but there aren’t f-bombs seeded through every chapter like a literary game of Minesweeper.
Overall, this was a beautiful love story, and one I fully expect to read again in the future. This is an easy rating decision, 5 stars all the way.

This book was an absolute joy to read. From the very beginning, I was drawn into Aria and Kayla’s story, and the connection between them is beautifully written. Their chemistry feels natural and believable, making it easy to get completely invested in their dynamic.
The fake dating trope is executed in a fun and engaging way. What starts as a business arrangement धीरे gradually turns into something much more real, and it’s a pleasure to watch that evolution unfold. The backdrop of glamorous events, family dinners, and the lead-up to a high-society wedding adds an extra layer of charm to the story.
That said, I would have loved a bit more depth when it comes to the characters. While their relationship is well developed, I didn’t always feel like I truly got to know them as individuals. With a little more emotional depth, this could easily have been a five-star read for me.
Overall, this is a delightful and romantic story that’s easy to get lost in and leaves you with a warm feeling. Perfect if you’re in the mood for a sapphic romance with great chemistry and an enjoyable build-up.

Kayla is a journalist in Miami who is stuck writing vapid pieces for a women's magazine. Aria is the CEO of a billion-dollar company that makes hair care products for African American women. With Aria's younger sister's wedding coming up, she is stuck without a plus-one and her sister doesn't want her to bring one of the vapid models she usually dates.
When Kayla confronts Aria in her company's parking lot in an effort to get an interview with her, Aria impulsively asks Kayla to be her fake girlfriend and accompany her to the wedding and all the pre-wedding events in exchange for an interview.
The book then takes us through each of these events and the growing closeness of the two women, neither of whom is interested in being in a serious relationship.
While the book felt too long and the writing in places wasn't strong (e.g., the author kept referring to each of the main characters as "the other woman"), the strength of this book was its depiction of both Aria's and Kayla's families, particularly Aria's siblings and Kayla's grandmother. There aren't a lot of sapphic romances that do as good a job as this one depicting African American families.
I was provided an ARC by the publisher via Book Sirens.
4 stars. I liked this a lot but I need to say that as someone who has been natural since 2015 it’s always so disappointing to read books about natural Black hair but the only representation is looser curl patterns. And that’s what happens here. All of the declarations of Black hair were absolutely beautiful, do not get me wrong, but I wish we would’ve seen more hair textures represented with the characters. That’s my one complaint about this book.
Other than that I really enjoyed it. I love a good fake dating romance. Aria and Kayla are both incredibly likable leads and I loved the way that their romance developed. They’re fake dating for Aria’s sister’s wedding but then things start to get real and it was fun watching them both struggle with their feelings for each other. I thought they were wonderful together. The third act break up wasn’t my favorite thing but I totally understood it and the ending made it worth it. I loved that ending!
Overall, this was a really good read with a lovable cast of characters. I would definitely recommend it.
Just finished Styled for Show by Candi Tab, and I absolutely loved it! From start to finish, this book is packed with creativity, insight, and a real passion for styling that shines through every page. Candi has such a natural way of breaking things down so they feel approachable and inspiring, whether you’re completely new to styling or already have some experience.
What really stood out to me was how practical and encouraging it is—you don’t just read it, you feel motivated to actually do something with what you’ve learned. The visuals, ideas, and tips all come together in a way that feels both professional and personal.
If you’re interested in styling, presentation, or just want a fresh burst of creative inspiration, I highly recommend giving this one a read. It’s uplifting, informative, and genuinely enjoyable!

A fake dating slow burn low angst open door romcom which felt a little overlong when nothing dramatic was happening much. Even the unexpected ex or third act breakup didn't really do much damage.
The story revolves around a billionaire CEO and a struggling journalist as they come up with a mutually beneficial business arrangement to be fake girlfriends for a few weeks.
Even though they both professed relationship avoidance, they were faking so well that it didn't feel like they were faking. And by the end, the fake part was in reality, fake. They just had to address the humongous elephant in the room without all the defensive miscommunications.
The book also touches on what it means to be black, queer and a woman in the corporate world.
Overall, it was a rather enjoyable read though slow at times. It was funny, lighthearted and emotional.
I received a free ARC from Booksirens for evaluation purposes.
4.5⭐️ Lovey fake dating sapphic romance! I received an advance review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Neither Kayla nor Aria are interested in a relationship. Kayla needs a scoop to help her career. Aria needs a fake girlfriend to attend numerous functions and a destination wedding for her sister. When Kayla tries to get an interview with Aria by showing up in the company parking lot, they decide on something to benefit them both. Little do they both know that it just might be the best decision for their hearts.
Well written and paced with plenty of emotion and steam. Sweet tension and genuine connection along with beautifully described landscapes provide the main pull in the wonderful sapphic romance. Recommend!!
As someone who has been living in Miami for almost 30 years, this sapphic romance that set in Miami makes me feel intimate and relatable. All the locations named in the book are real, and most of them are pretty accurate. My only disappointment is that the dog park in the expensive and super conservative Pinecrest is beyond believable, also the majority of millionaire home owners there are not Cubans or Hispanic, they won't allow loud Cuban rap music near their quiet neighborhood. I really enjoyed this fake dating, rich girl poor girl romance, although there is no surprise factors, and a bit cliche. The characters are likable, the story uplifting, especially for black lesbians.
Holy smokes this is just beautiful! can I give is Six Stars?
I salute Candi Tab for writing this story, it is written with love of family and black women’s struggle in business with clarity and honesty. Women of worth, emotional, financial and real in every sense of the word. The reality of these women’s emotions is deeply embedded in my soul now. It is cleverly expressed in the foundations of family, history and emotions. I can honestly say this book is great!
Style for show a sapphic billionaire romance was a beautifully written fake romance. Very interesting characters Aria and Kayla have a fake relationship when pretending turns to real feelings. It's a very satisfying, heartwarming romance.

This fake girlfriend romance was fun to read, I really enjoyed it! The story was engaging and not overly predictable. I am hoping there are more books tied in with story, I would definitely read them!
What a beautiful story! Fake dates don’t usually get much of my attention but this one was lovely. Also, as it was set in Miami a lot of scenes took place in familiar places. Now I know a lot more about hair care as well.
I enjoyed reading Kayla and Arias story. It is well paced, funny in placed and has a good supporting cast of characters. It also covered lots of different issues and challenges. It would have been 5 stars if there hadn't been a few typos.
I enjoyed reading this book. Had everything in it. MC were lovable and reading about growing their feeling was awesome. Discowering about eachother personalities… learning what made them who they are as humans. I strongly reccomend this book.
