What can’t Nana Malone write? From her mafia romance, billionaire, Age Gap, Fake Dating, Bodyguard, Sports—I could go on. She’s definitely one of those rare authors who can write anything, and I’d read it. If it were the back of a cereal box—I’d read it.
Cereal box aside, her newest release, Pucking Irrestible, is a second-generation story/spin-off type of story. The MMC, Trace, is the son of Fox Coulter from The Player Series. And Trace is one of those guys who has been pining for the FMC, Lena, for a long time, but he can’t do anything about it because she’s his brother’s girlfriend. With that comes conflict between the two brothers, a teeny bit of misunderstanding between Trace and Lena, and, of course, a shift in their friendship. Trace goes from pining for her while being her friend to fake-dating her and revealing how he truly feels.
I loved how protective Trace was of Lena when her safety was at risk. He was also incredibly supportive of her abilities and encouraged her. I loved the romance that built up for these two. Those hidden feelings, finally surfacing, put a smile on my face. And when that first spice scene hit—well worth the wait!
I’m hoping for more in this series soon with other characters.

One thing is for sure...Trace and Lena are really going to give your heart a high-intensity workout as their story evolves. This book was very easy to read, and I liked these characters a lot. The forbidden element to their relationship, the sloooow burn of the heat and the angst that is lushly rich and oh so thick, truly makes this a potent and impactful romance. I look forward to enjoying future entries in this new series.

Loved the premise—finally a Black hockey WAG! Unfortunately, there were a lot of errors (spelling, grammar, punctuation, continuity) that made this not a 4 or 5 star read for me.

I will never say no to a fake dating trope, it hits every time. Especially when one half of the relationship is fighting their life to not make it real 🤭 I loved the drama and background between Lena and Trace. The little flashbacks of their friendship from the past and the YEARNING were everything. And toss in there that he’s a hot hockey player with a dirty mouth 🥵 Nana’s MMCs are always obsessed with their leading lady (as they should be) and I eat it up EVERY. TIME. I’m hoping we get more books in the series! Especially about a certain hockey playing best friend 👀

Trace and Lena used to be friends, until they weren't. She started dating his brother, and when she and his brother broke up, it somehow became his fault. And she's hated him ever since. But now she's in a fake dating arrangement with him and Trace is going to use this time to make sure she knows how he really feels, how he's always felt. And he will make sure their fake relationship becomes the real one he's always wanted.
Lena is starting to remember just why she and Trace used to be best friends. Their natural chemistry is on display now that they're faking a relationship that benefits them both. But is it really fake? She's realizing she doesn't want it to be fake - her feelings for Trace now are just an extension of what they've always been - attraction and something a lot like love.
Trace is so down bad for Lena, and he couldn't have been more sweet about it. Lena was understandably wary, considering what Trace and his asshole brother had put her through, but eventually, his determination and their feelings had her opening back up to him. I love their slow burn that didn't do a good job of disguising their strong physical connection that was equaled only by their emotional bond. Lena and Trace made for a great start to a new series, now I'm really excited for the next of Trace's teammates to fall in love.

Irresistible Hockey Romance Read.
Hockey Players have been hot reading for quite some time and Author Nana Malone has added plenty of fuel to that mix with the release of PUCKING IRRESISTIBLE. It was an irresistible read for me and I couldn’t put it down. The shots fired between Trace and Lena were on-point, meaning this enemies-to-lovers, fake-dating hockey romance will stand out from the crowd.
The initial scene between Trace Coulter and Lena Hartwell showcased the hot chemistry between them and although I'd say that their story was a slow-burn, it certainly didn't slow the pace of the book. Lena was justified in her reticence and distrust - she'd been let down too many times by the men in her life, starting with her father, but we get to see that it was Trace's actions three years ago that hurt the worst. She was strong, loyal and resilient, and I admired her character. The relationship between them was definitely going to have to be built from the ground up again.
Trace Coulter was the opposite of his selfish and thoughtless older brother who abused the bond between them. My heart broke for a man anguished by a seemingly unrequited love. His friendship with Lena from a young age saw him put himself in the friend-zone and he could only watch as she was claimed by his miscreant brother before he could admit his love to her. He was caught between two loyalties and in trying to ease hurt caused to Lena, he was bound to cover for Trevor's lies as he cheated on her. I felt completely sorry for him as his heart was tortured while watching her love for his brother being treated as cheap and disposable, wishing he'd had the gumption to show her his true feelings and hoping to treasure the gift of her love in return.
To make things worse for Trace, his selfish brother made him swear that he'd never go out with her thus adding that forbidden dynamic to their building relationship. I really wanted to put the hates on Trevor, that wasted piece of skin 😡
I've read it twice already, because some scenes are so beautiful and deep, even where Trace was destroyed and deeply heart-broken, the emotions so sublimely written, that I'd restart the beginning of the chapter just to experience it all over again 💔❤️ The scene where the brothers faced off and brought the whole brothers-ex-girlfriend trope to a head was *chef's kiss* 🤌
I have to say that I'm finding a new appreciation for the its-always-been-you trope even though rather a few books I've read in the past have featured this forever longing of one character for another. Maybe it was the character of Trace himself who brought it home for me, but this aspect is one that I adored about his character even though my heart broke for him.
For me, secondary characters can be the difference in the way a book feels during the reading experience. Kimi as Lena's best friend, was her support and cheerleader, and her character helped in building out Lena herself. Ms Malone gave Waylon, Trace's best friend and teammate an interesting background in a way that I felt melancholy and regret surround his character. I know that PUCKING IRRESISTIBLE is a Legacy Players series, and I'm not sure which characters she has in mind for future books, but I truly hope that Waylon finds his way in.
As an aside, if you found PUCKING IRRESISTIBLE a great read, and I'm sure you did, you might like to check out Ms Malone's original Player’s series while you wait for her next hockey romance. Fox and Sasha Coulter's story is book four in the five-book series so you'll have plenty to be going on with.
My only bugbear is that I personally find ‘Pucking’ as part of a book title is way overused and in general actively avoid books with that in the title – but this is a Nana Malone book afterall and the FOMO is real! I'll pick up every book that this author writes and obviously the title did not detract from my reading enjoyment whatsoever. I can't be the only reader who feels like this, so I feel it's worth mentioning not to let a title get in the way of reading a great book.
In truth, PUCKING IRRESISTIBLE contains enough tropes that I've already mentioned, to engage the most discerning of romance reader. Add in Ms Malone’s deep, witty and often funny writing style, and you'll see why I recommend it as a 4.5-irresisitble-hockey-romance-read-Stars 🏒🖤✦

Trace is the son of legendary hockey player, Fox Coulter. He has an older brother, Trevor, who he has always looked up to, even knowing his faults. He has played hockey all of his life and is now playing for Loveland U, where he is a junior. He hopes to get drafted by the majors next year, but he has some things working against him that he will have to work hard to fix.
Lena is the girl next door. She is sweet, yet she has no idea how beautiful she is. She has played tennis her entire life, but had to give it up so she could help her mother out more. She is attending Loveland U on scholarship and working jobs in order to help her mother out.
When they were in high school, Lena and Trace were best friends. She tutored him, even though she thought he did not really need her help. She liked spending time with him. She was always over at his house and it was like she was part of the family. Until she no longer was.

I really enjoyed the "friends to enemies to friends to lovers" journey here. Trace is such a standout hero because his feelings are rooted in patience and loyalty; he’s had a deep affection for Lena forever! Lena felt so real to me, too—her being guarded didn't feel like "drama," it felt earned. I loved watching their slow-burn romance unfold with all those quiet, authentic connections. One thing I absolutely loved was the "inside thoughts" written in italics; I found myself chuckling out loud at those!
There were a few little misses for me, though. There were some repeated thoughts and details that I hope get tightened up before publishing. Also, Trace has a "sound-proofed" room, but then he can still hear dripping taps and other noises—I was thinking, "Is it sound-proofed or not?!" 🤣 But hey, those are tiny details that didn't take away from the heart of the story. We did have a third-act breakup, which I know annoys some people, but it was resolved so quickly that it made me extremely happy lol.

I found myself torn with this one. On the one hand, I wanted to see how this one would go because the plot stood out to me but at the same time, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to read about more hockey. Ultimately, I decided to read it. This may have been my first Nana Malone book I’ve read but I’m not 100% sure. I liked the trope of brother’s ex but I just didn’t know how gone she was already going to make Trace for Lena. It was to the point of just being a bit too much gone for her. He wasn’t even with her but it’s like everything lived and breathed Lena. It felt like hockey was a distant memory and nothing else mattered. I didn’t care for how lost in Lena Nana made him. He kept repeating how much her coconut and shea smelt lingered in pretty much every chapter that was in his point of view and at one point I thought to myself, can’t you think of anything else she would smell like? It just felt like he was repeating the same things about her in general and I also thought that there had to be other adjectives to describe her or feelings. I’ll take feelings or a memory in a place of time other than the same smells or thoughts. It just didn’t feel stood out or original to me with that. Perhaps I’m being petty but I just felt like I was on a loop in the book. Nothing real earth shattering or exciting happens, probably why it took me 4 days to read it. The only reason I’m giving it a 4 is because it kept my interest and the exploration of their attraction did feel sensual but kind of dangerous, like they were tiptoeing. Maybe they were but it felt like foreplay which I liked and left this will they or won’t they feeling. I wouldn’t necessarily call it a slow burn, more just like the suspense of waiting until they both combust and have to give in and sleep with each other. The desire lingered and hung around and was a background for both of them when it came to each other. It was simmering, like it was holding its breath. This feeling was new in romance for me and I was intrigued and liked it. If there was no chemistry and I wasn’t able to get inside Trace or Lena’s head I doubt very much this would get a 4 from me. When you take out the personal issues and battle of loving someone you shouldn’t have or want, then there really wasn’t much in this story and it would have been a very different rating. I do hope more characters from this world get a story too because despite my complaining earlier, I’d definitely continue this if it were to branch out into a series because I did like it regardless.

Another nice read from Nana Malone. This one definitely had kinda the same vibe as the other series that I read from her. The characters have known each other prior to us meeting them in this book. They have a complicated history that needs to be rectified so that they can be together. I definitely thought this one was a little more complicated than the other one that I read but it still managed to work out. Lena is a smart student who was dealt a bad hand. She had to put aside her dreams in order to take care of family and I really felt for her. Trace, is another golden boy who comes from a family of prestige that has what it takes to pull Lena from the fire that she is currently in. Of course this comes with a little trickery along the way. There were times when I definitely wanted to push Trace into doing more. He is definitely a good guy who does almost everything that you would hope a good guy would do. I'm glad that they both allowed themselves to move out of the way so that they could be together. My only gripe with this book is that the "conflict" that happened between them seemed so minimal. I'm not sure if it feels that way to me because we don't have the background with these characters that they have with each other but it just felt like something that didn't have to be a big problem.
The spice in this book is good. I would definitely give it a 3 out of 5. I loved the vulnerability of this hero and the ending was perfect but it doesn't end there because there is a bonus epilogue and you will love it!
Lastly, shout out to Trace and Lena very supportive kick-ass friends—Waylon (Way) had Trace's back and Kimmy had Lena's back—everyone should be fortunate enough to have friends that care about their health and well-being. I hope to see a story or stories featuring these two stand-out characters despite this being a Legacy series.

3.5 Stars — Excellent Storytelling, Needs editing
I love hockey romance. Like absolutely devour it and while I rarely take the time to write a review, I felt this book deserved one. If I could rate this book on storyline quality alone, it would be a 5/5. The characters are compelling, well rounded, and relatable with enough underlying mystery to set up the next book based on secondary characters to immediately add it to my TBR when it comes out
The only reason I wouldn’t give this book a 4 or higher is solely on the many typos and grammatical errors I noted. With proper editing (and maybe a different cover to attract more readers) I see no reason why this book wouldn’t be one of my top 5 picks of the year. And as someone who reads well over 150 sports romances (mostly hockey) that is one of the highest compliments I can give.
On a different note, as an avid hockey romance reader, I have noticed the diversity (or lack thereof) in the main characters and was pleasantly surprised at the diversity in race and also the female lead’s choice of sport (tennis). Having the diversity in this book not be “thrown in your face” as a bait and switch tactic to get readers to try it out but organic and showing what real life looks like was such a nice change of pace. It shouldn’t be “rare” to find a book with a diverse cast that is relatable for all readers, but this book really emphasized how “rare” it is and has me eager to find more books like it

What a great start to Nana Malone's new Players Legacy series. This is Trace and Lena's irresistibly fun, heartfelt and steamy story about betrayal, forbidden love, and forgiveness. They were best friends in high school, and secretly wanted more. Lena was afraid of losing Trace so she started dating his brother instead. When that ended badly, she was more hurt by Trace's betrayal, and lost him anyway. Now three years later, they are back in each other's orbit, when Trace is forced to find a fake girlfriend to help his image for the coming draft. He has honored the bro-code and stayed away from Lena, even as his heart was breaking, but there isn't anyone else he wants. Lena had to give up on her tennis dreams when her mother became ill. She decides to help Trace if he will use his families connections to get the treatment her mother desperately needs. As they spend more time together, the feelings they thought were long buried come roaring back to life. They quickly cross the line between fake and forever. Just as they start to plan a future, Trace's secret comes to light and Lena feels betrayed once more. Will Trace be able to earn her trust back or will this be too hard to overcome? Trace and Lena were so great together. I loved the push/pull between them, the tender moments of vulnerability, and their chemistry was off the charts! My heart hurt for these characters at times, but I also loved their sense of humor, strength, and resilience as well. I also loved their family and friends who were so supportive, and loyal, and who added so much heart to this story. I really enjoyed this delightfully engaging, emotional, and super hot and sizzling romance!

This is my first book by Nana Malone and I doubt it will be my last. The premise of the story was a good one. I appreciated the friends to enemies to friends to lovers arc. The spice, when present, was great. Could have used more. I also appreciated the representation of the FMC-- we need more women of color in these books. I loved--absolutely loved-- the "inside thoughts" of the characters (easily recognized in italics). There were a few moments I found myself chuckling or thinking "girl...same."
There are a few misses here and I'm hoping they might be addressed upon publishing or a second run. There were a lot of repeated thoughts and scene details. I heard how the FMC smelled more than just a few times (we know...it's coconut). I heard about the set up of the MMC's room: the bookshelves, the expensive furniture, the smell, etc... I also read that it was October many many places. Longest October ever. There were even a few typos and punctuation misses. I wanted: more of a back story between the brothers, more info about the FMC's mom, the FMC's tennis career and aspirations, just more in general. The end of the book felt rushed and like the author just wanted to wrap everything up neatly and quickly. There was a third act break up but was resolved quickly.
I don't know that this needed to be a "hockey romance" as it didn't play a huge role. The MMC could have played any sport. But, strike while the iron is hot, I suppose.
As I said, I'll give this author's other works a whirl. This one was a "meh" for me.

Players Legacy is the second generation series with kids from the original Players series. Pucking Irresistible features Trace Coulter, the youngest son of Fox and Sasha. Trace is a college junior playing hockey for his school, following in his father and older brother, Trevor's footsteps. Trevor is one of the best young talents playing professionally, but his playboy reputation has gotten him some bad press. Trace's agent fears that Trevor's reputation may create a negative shadow on Trace when he enters the NHL draft so he encourages Trace to find a squeaky clean girlfriend to protect his image. The only person Trace knows who can possibly pull off the charade, is Lena, who happens to be his brother's ex-girlfriend. Unfortunately for him, she's hated Trace for the past 3 years holding him responsible for the break-up. Trace has held a torch for Lena since high school, and whenever they shared "pretend" kisses, the feelings she surpressed for him start to resurface.
I received an early copy so I'm hoping the editors caught some of the redundant descriptions of Trace's bedroom in the fraternity house. There were also a couple of spots where a sentimental object suddenly appeared without preamble? Additionally, Lena had a close relationship with the Coulter family growing up, and there were several offhanded references to it within the context of the story, so I expected to see some interaction with his parents with her family, but nothing materialized? This story had promise but I felt like it fell short for this author. 3.5 stars

I got an ARC of this book. Lena and Trace knew each other in high school, were best friends, she starts dating his brother Trevor and has a really nasty breakup that she blames Trace for. They don't see each other for several years after despite going to the same college. Her mother is sick, her father left the family, and she is trying really hard to continue with school while helping her mother get the care she needs. Trace wants to enter the NHL draft but his brother Trevor is the current wild child in the NHL and it's tainting Trace y association. He needs to appear stable and not a womanizer like Trevor. I love how the two of them have a moment dancing at a party where they don’t know who the other is and their bodies are so into it but their brains get in the way when they discover who it is. Lena kind of begrudgingly agrees to be his fake girlfriend because her mother needs care and his family has a lot of connections and influence. I love fake dating and these two literally never stood a chance at keeping it platonic and professional. Trace has been in love with Lena since high school and now that he’s allowed to touch her, he can't keep his hands off and is straining so hard not to tell her his feelings. Lena's trust needs to be rebuilt, she’s very skeptical and needs to go slow. The spice was so phenomenal. I was overheating. I adored all the check-ins, making sure she was ok. The end was so emotional it made me cry. I felt so many feelings. I really enjoyed this book.

I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy this book as it is set at college (US) university (UK) age, and I am moist definitely well past that age group, however, I did really enjoy it and am pleased I had the opportunity to read it.
Trace has been in love with Lena for years, throughout the entire time she was dating his brother, unfortunately for the last 3 years, she has completely ignored him after his entitled brother treated her so badly by cheating on her amongst other things.
Lena has spent the last 3 years hating Trace as she overheard him telling his brother to leave her, what she didn't know was the reason behind this.
Trace asks her to be his fake girlfriend so he still has a chance to get drafted as his brother is getting himself a reputation and the pr team are concerned that the teams will think Trace is just like his brother and stop him from being drafted. Lena agreed but asks for his family connections to get her mum seen by a doctor who is not taking on any new patients. Trace does this immediately and Lena starts believing in Trace and in them as a couple.
I enjoyed watching them discovering themselves and each other in this new dynamic, and think there are enough interesting tertiary characters for future books in this series, in particular Waylan.

Pucking Irresistible is Book one in the Players Legacy series and this is Trace and Lena’s story. Trace has been in love with Lena since High School but they were best friends and Lena didn’t want to ruin their friendship so she went out with Trace’s brother for a year, she blamed Trace when the relationship broke up, so she has hated him for three years now. Trace takes a call from his agent about the upcoming draft and the events around that, he needs to find himself a fake girlfriend, someone that will look good, his mind immediately went to Lena! He reaches out to her and of course she says absolutely not but he says he will get his parents to get her Mum into see the specialist she needs to see that she is on a year long waiting list to see. He says he will do that anyway, Lena agrees to the fake girlfriend deal.
The story evolves with the fake relationship becoming more real and more intense, the spicy scenes are so hot, can they find the love they deserve.

Enjoyed the start of this hockey romance series!
Lena & Trace were friends first and now... enemies.
It all started with them studying together and then led to her dating his brother. Unfortunately, the way things ended wasn't the best and they haven't spoken to each other for a couple years until they meet at a college frat party.
She's trying to forget her ex and help her mother with her doctor appointments. He's looking for a fake girlfriend to help him look like the exact opposite of his brother, who continues to create a new scandal each week and could ruin his chance at getting scouted for a hockey team. He's running out of options and well the only person he would want to be in a fake or not so fake relationship is Lena.
Loved how Trace kept her book with her annotations all these years and always went above and beyond for her without expecting anything in return. This relationship may seem fake to her but for him it was always real 🩶 loved how Lena became part of his family on campus.
Pucking Irresistible is a sweet read with some hockey, family drama, a strong FMC, & golden retriever MMC. Definitely recommend checking it out.

Pucking Irresistible is a best friend to enemies/brother’s ex hockey romance with fake dating and spice. This is Lena and Trace’s story filled with second chance at love and rekindling friendships. Lena and Trace both have history together but when a past incident pushed Lena and their friendship away. Trace is a college hockey player that needs to keep his image clean because of his pro hockey brother is making it difficult for him to be spotted. Lena is the only person Trace knew who can help him be seen as a serious player by fake dating him. Their story will take you on an emotional roller coaster, from their hidden feelings to their time spent apart, they finally open up and realize they are it for each other. I love how they worked in getting to know each other again and how they didn’t make it easy at first. I also love how caring Trace is and is will to do anything for Lena. I also love their friends and how they help them see what is really in front of them. I really enjoyed their story and love to read more!!

I loved Pucking Irresistible, I was like I know this name Coulter but couldn't place it. When the father's name was mentioned it all snapped into place. I loved Lena she is strong, independent and smart. She calls Trace on his crap. I like Trace but he needs to learn how to stand up for himself and sacrificing for his stupid brother Trevor. Trace is a good guy sweet and has always loved Lena. I could feel the love between Lena and Trace. In my opinion Nana Malone did a great job of making me feel the love and tension between Lena and Trace. I knew there would be a showdown between Trace and Trevor that kept me on the edge of my seat turning the pages. The funniest statement for me was Tammy Coulter asking what her idiot nephew did now, that me snort laugh. My biggest complaint was the was a lot of saying same thing over and over. I can't wait for the rest of the series. I love sports romance stories. In my opinion Nana Malone does pretty good with sports knowledge. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader's copy.

Oh my gosh! Im in love with Trace too!!
I ADORED this story of Lena and Trace. His desperate attempt at fake dating to try and get past their painful messed up history and secrets kept hidden. Her anger and dislike of him as a result of unresolved hurt and misunderstandings which included sibling issues and conflicts.
Trace has such a loving heart and Lena has been hurt by the men in her life already, including Trace. Nothing is simple for the two of them. After terrible misunderstandings, and breaking hearts they finally manage to talk and find their way to a hard-won HEA!
Ms. Malone I read the early chapters you released in your
newsletters, and prayed you would complete their story and release it as a book! Thank you sooo much for Trace and Lena's story! Such an amazing second chance novel! I absolutely loved it, and wish I could give it a well-deserved 10+ stars anstead of just 5!!

This was such an amazing story, I enjoyed it from page one.

Ooooo, this book is an amalgamation of some of my favorite tropes with a delicious twist. Enemies to lovers hits so good, and then combined with a “it’s always been you” makes it even better. Throw in a little ex’s brother? 🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵
Trace and Lena have a rocky past - once best friends, torn apart by his brother. Then they’re thrown together by fate. Trace needs a girlfriend to protect his image from the antics of his brother, and Lena just happens to be the perfect fake girlfriend. We love a good fake dating.
Trace is so down bad, like the King of Pining™️. And Lena goes scorched earth at every slight against her (same, girl, same), but is so soft on the inside. Their relationship comes together in such a way that there was no other option.
What I love the most about this book is how the story I constantly surprised me - each time I was confident of how it would go, it veered off that course. I absolutely loved it.

Trace has always had deep feelings for Lena so when she started dating his brother it put him in an uncomfortable position when he finds himself in the middle torn between his brother and her which caused a rift in their friendship that they have never recovered from. With his brother once again creating havoc he turns to Lena asking her to pretend that they are in a relationship.
Lena felt betrayed by both Trace and his brother, but it was Trace’s betrayal that hurt the most as she believed she could trust him. Since then, she has wanted nothing to do with either one of them however when he offers her an arrangement she can’t turn down she is about to realize that there is a lot about what the past that is yet to be revealed.
Trace and Lena take us on journey that includes family drama, healing from the past and a love that was always meant to be and was only made stronger by everything they had to overcome to find their way back to each other.

I’ve always loved a good hockey romance, and Pucking Irresistible by Nana Malone delivered in all the ways I hoped it would. Nana’s writing is as effortlessly engaging as ever, and she brings Lena and Trace’s story to life in a way that’s both sweet and relatable. I really enjoyed watching their slow-burn romance unfold—the tension, the little moments, the quiet connections—it all felt so authentic and heartfelt.
That said, I’m giving this one 4 stars because, for me, it didn’t completely consume me the way some of my favorite books do. I found myself getting distracted or side-tracked at times, which meant I ended up rereading pages more than once to catch every nuance. Even so, the story itself is charming, the characters are endearing, and the romance hits all the right notes.
Overall, if you love a slow-burn hockey romance with a touch of sweetness and plenty of heart, this one is absolutely worth picking up. Lena and Trace’s journey will leave you smiling—and maybe swooning a little.
