Rate this book
Lady Charlotte can find fault with every man in London. But never with Delina.

Charlotte knows she does everything wrong. The right husband will fix a life of horses, freedom, and a home for Delina. The alternative is unthinkable.

She's so close to success...if Delina isn't swept off her feet first.

Delina can't survive another Season in this half-life between friend and companion, cleaning up Charlotte's chaos. Charlotte's marriage will change everything. Why shouldn't Delina find a future for herself?

One more Season. Two clashing plans. Until Delina catches the wrong eyes—or exactly the right ones—and both women face a choice neither the predictable life they've been chasing, or something far more dangerous.

Two sharp-tongued women. A lifetime of unspoken truths. And a love neither of them saw coming.

A history nerd with too many degrees, Judith Lynne lives in Ohio with a truly adorable spouse, an apartment-sized domestic jungle, and a misgendered turtle. Also an award-winning science fiction author and screenwriter, she writes passionate Regency romances with a rich sense of place and time.

I loved this book! This was a queer awakening, sapphic historical romance set in Regency era England. Lady Charlotte and Delina's story was a delightful read, watching them slowly realize their feelings towards each other and how much they struggled with those feelings felt so realistic. In a time period when homosexuality was certainly not openly discussed with young ladies, it was very believable that they literally wouldn't know what they were feeling or be able to understand them. I wonder if Delina never received a push from Lucinda, if she ever would have understood her own sexuality. Lady Charlotte did seem more aware of her desire for Delina as she was actively repressing her thoughts and feelings - refusing to let herself dwell on any potentially romantic feeling towards her friend and companion. I loved their ending and was so glad that in Charlotte and Delinas happy ending, we also got a happy ending for Delinas mother and siblings too!

This story is a historical romance set in London, centred on Charlotte, who’s been given one last chance to find a husband, something she very much does not want. Instead of following the expected path, she gets a little push to find her own sense of independence.

What I liked most was that this wasn’t just about romance, it was about pushing against the expectations placed on women at the time. Charlotte and Delina’s journey felt genuine. They both have character growth and their eventual relationship develops in a way that feels both natural and quietly rebellious.

It was also great to see familiar characters from earlier books and it adds a nice sense of continuity if you’ve read others in the series. And Geoffrey absolutely stood out here as a true gentleman and it’s nice to know he has his own story ( “He Stole the Lady”).

Overall, this is a warm and engaging historical romance with LGBTQ+ representation, and I’d definitely recommend it to fans of the genre who enjoy stories about independence, found love, and going against society’s expectations.

I received an ARC of this book and have provided this review voluntarily.

*wails* i love them so much!!!

i've been waiting for sooo long (not a complaint). it's sooo wonderful and also frustrating when two characters are ridiculously into each other but are COMPLETELY oblivious to each other's feelings and (sometimes deliberately) obtuse about their own (oh Charlotte!!)

She Tamed the Lady is a character driven historical romance centered on the complex bond between Lady Charlotte and Delina, set against the backdrop of London society. Judith Lynne explores themes of duty, identity, and emotional dependency as both women navigate expectations placed upon them during the Season.

At its core, the novel examines a relationship built on tension, loyalty, and unspoken longing, gradually evolving as both characters confront the limitations of the lives they believe they must pursue. The emotional conflict is driven more by internal struggle than external drama, giving the story a reflective and intimate tone.

This is a slow-burn, emotionally layered romance that focuses on character psychology and evolving emotional truth rather than conventional plot twists.

Really fun book to go into without any background. London setting and a free thinking woman trying to navigate life her way (at a time that it wasn’t encouraged), enjoyed every page of it
