Sonny: A Hustler's Game

Rate this book
The year is 2007, Sonny, 25 years of age and just getting by on the streets of Chicago is presented an opportunity by his lifelong friend, KD. It is a come up on a deal that will get the small time hustlers on their feet. The come up turns out to be a set up by an old friend who has Chicago narcotics waiting on the young men. They evade the trap, and later that night seek revenge. Revenge that turns out to be more profitable than they ever imagined. The unexpected windfall catapults Sonny and his friends to top hustler status in the game. Nina, a woman who loves the finer things in life—nice cars, designer clothes, and most of all, her dream of owning one of the hottest nightclubs in Chicago. She realizes her dreams can come true when she meets Sonny. Drawn to his movie star looks with a bad-boy edge, Nina finds the young hustler hard to resist. He’s younger than she is, but his swag more than makes up for the years between them. Sonny has the mind and savvy to become the king of Chicago, and Nina plans to help him get there. She is ready to take the ride with him so she can live THAT LIFE. The future looks bright for Sonny and his boys, but there are a few obstacles they must navigate in the concrete jungle of the Chicago streets. Sonny’s conniving baby momma, a snake close to him, and an affiliate of a Columbian cartel who is hunting a member of Sonny’s crew, all pose serious threats to their budding empire. Will they survive, or like many others before them, succumb to the grimy streets of the windy city?

this book explains a lot about Sonny and his crew

I had already read Book 12 of The Corner Series b4 I read Sonny. For some reason I always liked Sonny and after reading this book about Sonny, I love Sonny character. He’s a good guy who got bewitched and betrayed by Eve descendants (China n Nina). I don’t know what Sonny saw in either woman. Nina was so smooth with her foul self. I never liked her, she was pure fake and I don’t see why Sonny didn’t pick up on it. She took Sonny stuff without remorse. China deserved what she got. J-Roc should’ve just killed himself, he was screwed all the way around, he took the coward way out. These street dudes be acting so hard but time Feds zoom in on them they start singing love songs. All that hardness out the window. I’m glad Travis and Champagne got together, they seem like a power couple. I’m not trusting KD, he doesn’t listen. Well, let me pick back up on my Corner series.

Platinum Pen Game

This author has consistently given us increasingly hot, intelligent stories. These characters have layers reminiscent of the old school urban legends. It's so exciting to find a series that's actually worthy of being called such.

If you haven't read The Corner series, what have you been wasting your life doing?!!
