Starting Point Conversation Guide Revised Edition: A Conversation About Faith

Rate this book
Everything has a starting point—your life, your relationships, your education, your career.

Sometimes we forget that faith has a starting point as well. For some of us, our faith journeys began in childhood as a set of beliefs handed to us by a parent, teacher, or pastor. Maybe you developed a framework of faith based on personal experience. Or maybe you had no faith at all. Too often, a faith formed in childhood isn’t strong enough to withstand the pressures of adult life.

But what if you could find a new starting point for faith?

Welcome to Starting Point – an 8-session small group conversation about faith (DVD/digital video sold separately). Whether you’re new to faith, curious about God, or coming back to church after some time away, it’s a place where your opinions and beliefs are valued, and no question is off limits.

During the eight sessions, you

This book is amazing...

The dislike part I will start with first, there was nothing to dislike about the book. I loved each section which covers several themes, Jesus, salvation, trust, etc. each one important and part of our journey with God. The videos were great and are an important addition to the book. You need both to really grasp everything. I highly recommend this book.

A Good Start

For someone new to the faith, this is a great read. For someone looking to strengthen their faith walk, this is very light. The quotes are well-placed and the Bible reading suggestions are helpful.

I read this little book in one sitting, although it's meant to be read over 8 weeks. Our church is starting the study in a couple of weeks so I'll be re-reading it with my small group. I just wanted to get an overview of the entire series. As always, I love the way Andy Stanley breaks down theological concepts in a way that everyone can understand and communicates them in an way that keeps everybody interested. He's an incredible communicator with a heart for reaching people who were not raised in church or have given up on church. Our church has been a place for the same kind of people so I'm looking forward to the study. Believe it will be a good place for those new to faith to find a "starting point" and those who've been hurt by faith or about given up to find a "new starting point."
