A woman born without powers accepts a job as the maid to a supervillain in this dark and spicy paranormal romance.

Falling for Evil is perfect for readers who loved the humor of Assistant to the Villain and the unhinged love interest of Lights Out.

Born without a Gift, Clementine Holt spends every waking hour bouncing between odd jobs, desperately hiding her Pleb status from Emperion City’s superpowered populace. It’s why she finds herself working as a cleaner at the offices of the notorious Orcus, Inc. On the outside, a shining beacon of industry. On the inside? Well, let’s just say that Clementine’s contract is quite clear—whether she cleans up shredded documents or mangled body parts—she’s not to say a word to anyone about it, lest she become the next pile of entrails.

Grave Valmont, head of Orcus, Inc., is a ruthless businessman by day and a vicious supervillain by night. His name alone inspires both awe and fear. His greatest desire: to have total control over Emperion City. But when he meets Clementine, he discovers something he desires even more than unchecked power: a wily little vixen caught in his claws.

Struggling with crippling debt and a demanding stepfamily, Clementine just wants to do her job and pay back what she owes. The last thing she wanted was to attract the attention of the world’s most dangerous villain. But when her best friend goes missing, she knows there’s only one person who can help. Forced into a corner, Clementine enters into a bargain with Grave—one that threatens to unravel all her carefully drawn plans and rewrite everything she thinks she knows about their world...and herself.

Darkly comedic and with a heavy dose of spice, Falling for Evil is set in a postmutation world that will appeal to fans of X-Men and Gen V.

Welcome to the superpowered world of Emperion City, where Grave Valmont rules with a ruthless and maniacal tail.
He thinks she's a seasoned assassin.
She's just trying to stay afloat.
A Cinderella story with so. much. murder (and some of them are really, really funny ...)

If you are looking for a standalone paranormal dark romance that’s filled to the brim with quirky, witty characters and spicy hot peppers …

Helloooo

Here it is!

I finished Falling for Evil in a day and a half and loved it.

It’s a fun, easy read with romance at the forefront but great pieces to put together throughout.
Some heart stopping moments, heartbreaking moments, and definitely awesome humour.

This book really surprised me in a great way, kept me on my toes and I really enjoyed the unique, albeit unhinged and very dark, characters.

This book is dark. Dark dark. But so witty.
Read trigger warnings.
And if you do read… enjoy!

Thank you to NetGalley and Hambright PR and Celia Aaron for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Absolutely nuts, action-packed and unforgettable. I usually have trouble reading the first person POV of a violent dude, but Grave was so funny and bizarre and unapologetically down bad. The morality chain is well-executed here. Also Grave has a tail that is very horny and practically a separate character. Celia Aaron did a great job setting the campy, dialed-up-to-11 tone of this world. I want to read Harald's book!! Please say this is a series!

Falling for Evil by Celia Aaron was an absolute fever dream, and I mean that in the best way possible. 😂 I picked this book up expecting a dark paranormal romance with plenty of spice, but what I got was a gloriously chaotic combination of murderous antics, ridiculous banter, unexpected plot twists, and a romance that had me completely invested from start to finish.

First of all, Grave Valmont deserves to be studied. This man is a walking red flag factory, and somehow I was thoroughly entertained by every single one of his questionable decisions. He's ruthless, possessive, outrageously obsessed with Clementine, and possesses the kind of confidence that should honestly be illegal. His brain operates on a completely different wavelength, and the things that come out of it had me questioning whether I should be concerned or impressed. Probably both. 😂 And let's not forget his tail, which has enough personality and enthusiasm to warrant its own storyline.

Clementine, meanwhile, is busy trying to survive life and handle her own problems, so having a deranged supervillain fixated on her is understandably not high on her list of priorities. I loved her attitude. She's smart, entertaining, and perfectly capable of giving Grave a run for his money. Watching these two clash was half the fun, especially when his attempts to win her over collided with her very reasonable desire to keep this lunatic at arm's length.

The chemistry between them is deliciously messy, with tension that builds alongside some seriously spicy moments. 🌶️ Their interactions had me grinning far more often than I expected, and I loved that Clementine wasn't simply swept away by Grave's obsession. She has her own mind, her own motivations, and plenty of fight in her. The romance feels like an actual part of the story rather than the only thing holding it together.

And surprisingly, there is a LOT happening beyond the bedroom. The setting has a fascinating superpowered society shaped by a meteorite, with unusual abilities and a whole villainous side to the world that made the story feel different from your typical paranormal romance. Add in a Cinderella-inspired storyline, shady corporate dealings, mysteries, and enough carnage to make a horror enthusiast blink twice, and you've got yourself one seriously entertaining ride.

I also appreciated how well Celia Aaron balanced the absurdity with moments that genuinely tugged at my heart. One minute I was laughing at Grave's unfiltered nonsense, and the next I was caught up in a tense revelation or an emotional scene I hadn't seen coming. The plot kept moving, and I never felt like I was reading the same thing over and over again. Every new discovery gave me another reason to keep turning those pages.

What makes Grave particularly memorable is that he never feels like a conventional romantic hero pretending to be dangerous. He's a bona fide menace, and the story doesn't try to disguise that fact. His perspective was a pleasant surprise for me, especially since reading from the viewpoint of a violent male character can sometimes be difficult to enjoy. Here, his completely warped logic and absurd sense of humour made him impossible to ignore.

The overall vibe reminded me of the playful villain energy of Assistant to the Villain colliding with the darker, steamier atmosphere of Lights Out, except this story takes its own wonderfully unhinged route. It's outrageous, bloody, sexy, and fully committed to the madness it creates.

I finished this book feeling thoroughly entertained and already thinking about which character I'd want to follow next. Harald, I'm looking at you! I would happily return to this world for more interconnected standalone romances, because there's clearly plenty of material for other characters to have their own happily-ever-afters—or whatever passes for one in this delightfully dysfunctional universe.

Final verdict: A wickedly entertaining romance featuring a genuinely villainous MMC, a heroine who refuses to be intimidated, scorching chemistry, unexpected emotional depth, and humour that lands when you least expect it. This was such a refreshing change of pace for me, and I absolutely flew through it.

Just a heads-up: this story gets seriously dark beneath all the comedy, so definitely check the trigger warnings before reading.

Celia Aaron, you've created a whole new category of fictional men I probably shouldn't fancy but absolutely do. And please, PLEASE tell me Harald is next! 😂🖤

Falling for Evil absolutely obliterated the reading slump I'd found myself stuck in.

I started this book around 5 PM, thinking I'd read a few chapters before bed. Instead, I looked up at 10 PM having finished the entire thing and questioning every life choice that led me to becoming completely consumed by Grave Valmont's nonsense.

Clementine—our lovable "little vixen"—was an absolute delight. She's funny, capable, and incredibly easy to root for. Her backstory and the connections to the larger plot were woven in so naturally that everything clicked into place without feeling forced.

And Grave? Gods help me.

This man is completely unhinged in the most entertaining way possible. His obsession with Clementine is deliciously over-the-top, and I genuinely laughed out loud more times than I can count. He's equal parts terrifying, ridiculous, and somehow incredibly charming. Celia Aaron absolutely nailed that chaotic villain energy.

What really surprised me, though, was how much plot this book packed in. It isn't just spice and banter (though both are excellent). The mystery surrounding Clementine's world, the twists, the villainous corporate empire, and the superhero-esque setting all blended together into something that felt fresh.

The romance develops beautifully, and the spice is sprinkled throughout instead of overwhelming the story. Every scene felt earned (by Grave specifically, the FMC give him a run for his money), adding to the relationship rather than replacing the plot. She uses every ounce of her willpower not to sleep with Grave nor sit on his face until she absolutely must.

My only small hesitation comes from one moment later in the story involving a major revelation. Without venturing into spoiler territory, one of Grave's reactions didn't quite land for me. Considering how obsessively devoted and incredibly intelligent he'd been portrayed throughout the book, I expected him to connect the dots a little differently. It wasn't enough to lessen my enjoyment, but it was the one moment that briefly pulled me out of the story.

Otherwise? This book is an absolute gem.

It's funny, wildly entertaining, full of tension, packed with memorable characters, and delivers an obsessed villain romance that scratched every itch I didn't know I had.

Now can someone please give Lauren her own book? Because I need more of her immediately.

⭐Cinderella Retelling
⭐Unhinged Villain MMC
⭐Supervillains
⭐Fun adn Spice

Final Rating 4.5 ⭐3🌶️

First of all I want to thank the author and #Netgalley for the opportunity to read an ARC of this book coming out December 8th.

This book was amazing! Just what I needed, fun and engaging; and with lots of romance and spice.

The world is very like superheroes vs villains type, where almost everyone gained powers from a meteorite. It was fun seeing all the different gifts.

Graves, self apointed supervillain, is obsessed since the beginning with Clementine, who could not care less, she’s got bills to pay and no time for this psicopath.

The book is marketed as Assistant to the Villain meets Lights Out, and I agree, but I personally think it is way better than those books combined.

It is also a Cinderella retelling which I really apreciatted and filled with so much murder.
No matter how much murder you are thinking, it is even worse.
But I loved it, we got a Villain MMC who is actually a Villain, nothing grey about this man.

I am really hoping this quicks off a series of interconnected standalones because I need the story of so many characters. Especially Harald!

I honestly didn’t know what to expect going into Falling for Evil, but I ended up really enjoying this one. The darker atmosphere with the world building the chemistry, and over all vibes made this a good mood read for me.

It’s like a darker rom com fantasy Cinderella retelling and that definitely came across. I mean she’s meets the fmc by working for his company by cleaning up “messes” while she lives at home with her step mother and stepbrothers.

One night she encounters Grave Valmont and he becomes instantly obsessed with her. Thinking she was sent to 💀 him and then thinking maybe she has a gift of seduction! Because this is a world where people have gifts. And pokey tails.

Experiencing this story unfold was a lot of fun. There was spice, witty banter, stalking, so many laughable moments and most of all, a lot of unaliving! Exactly what you’d except from a Villainous love story!

Also a lot of the side characters were alot of fun as well and I kinda hope some of them especially, Lauren gets her own book!

This story follows Clementine, a Pleb, and Grave, the powerful and very pretentious shadow daddy who immediately thinks she's a seductress sent to kill him.

So naturally, when she meets him, she quits on the spot. Which leaves Grave so confused about why she would leave her "kill contract" unfinished.

Grave and Clem have a tumultuous relationship from the very beginning. He thinks he can boss her around, and she is NOT taking any of it.

I was cackling at Grave's fascination with Clem being mean to him. This man LOVES when she talks over him, threatens him, or has a weapon near him. The grumpy x sunshine but make it unhinged.

This book was such a good time and I absolutely loved Grave's personality. He's such a grump and is ready to end people at a moment's notice. Zero conscience, all possessiveness.

If you love a shadow daddy with no conscience meets golden retriever energy, this is the book for you.

Favorite quote:
"Brandon, fuck off"
"Of course, sir"

Falling for Evil has never been so easy or felt so good. I do love a proper baddie in a story.

Grave Valmont is the ultimate supervillain; he kills without conscience or even good reason, one snap of his finger or tail, job done then move on no remorse no feeling.

His unapologetically crass behavior and obsessive tendencies were completely insane but they just added to his mystique and allure.

This book was so entertaining; I loved the quirkiness of it. The dark humor was infectious, it was impossible not to laugh out loud or cringe at the audacity of Grave.
The spice was hot and the plot was engaging.

These characters are multilayered, far from perfect but very intriguing the secondary character were fab too.
I'm hoping we get more from them in future books 🤞

Falling for Evil is such a ridiculous book, but in a good way. Imagine Amazon's The Boys but even loopier. A comic book with an over the top villain who is so evilllll and the woman he thinks is an assassin out to kill him becomes his redemption. The action is non-stop, the humor great and the sex scenes--- hotness overload, especially because the villain's tail nickname Pokey has a mind of it's own and adores the heroine.

Falling for Evil is such a fun read with such smoldering love scenes that you want more. The ending is very sweet after everything the heroine goes through. I hope this is the first book in a long series.

This was crazy and I loved it. The fmc is what's considered a pleb, meaning she has no special gifts. The mmc is a man with a lot of gifts and he's a lot of psycho. And he has a tail. This book was funny, has a lot of action and definitely a lot of people being brutally murdered. These two have a very twisted relationship but it seems to work for them. I loved it a lot. The banter was exceptional and I was laughing a lot. The spice was very nice and a lot of it. The plot of the story was fun and the ending blew me away. I want more!

First off, the cover needs work. It’s really bad. Now to the story - the author makes the tone of this book humorous and fluffy even though our MMC is a written as a serial killer psycho. It’s not dark and I didn’t find it gory or heavy. It’s like a rom com retelling of Cinderella. Overall solid but not amazing.

Wow, there was a lot of information/world building, but it seemed simple enough for someone like me who doesn’t read much of this genre.

Clem and Grave were so sweet together. Their banter was electric and kept me giggling, but the spice…. Wow! It was hawt. It everything I thought it was and so much more.

You've never encountered a villain as diabolically endearing as Grave Valmont.
Scorched earth, superpowers, a black heart, and a pink-haired pleb with a backbone. It hits like a meteor and burns soooo good. All the evil stars!

In a world where people have supernatural gifts, Clementine has none and has to work to pay off debts and toil for her step family a la cinderella. However, when she catches the eye of the most powerful (and allegedly evil) man in the city, things take quite the turn. This book has an unhinged hero, a stubborn independent heroine, a magical/supernatural world, as well as banter and spice. I liked the overall premise and the characters a lot. However, I felt like the world wasn't explained clearly enough and a lot of the conflict was manufactured and then discarded immediately when it no longer served. But it is a quick fun read if you are looking for a little escape.

Cinderella, if Prince Charming were a homicidal mutant with a corporate empire, a questionable moral compass and a tail that you need to find out about yourself

Honestly, what a completely unhinged book in the absolute best way😂

This was dark, filthy, ridiculous and so much fun. Celia Aaron has taken Cinderella, thrown in superpowers, corporate corruption, a morally grey MMC and a heroine who's just trying to pay her bills (same girl).

I loved that this book didn't take itself too seriously. The dark humour, the banter, the absurdity of it all. Grave is an absolute menace and Clementine gives as good as she gets.

If you like your romance a little weird, morally bankrupt and with some questionable anatomy, this is definetly one to add to your TBR!!!
