A light-hearted romance book told in four sections, this tale follows a series of people involved in a wedding in Colorado. The pricey hotel, wedding planner and champagne form the framework against which the people act out their portions of the story. A nice touch is that one character is a musician who has been invited at the last minute to play violin; turns out she knows something about the groom.

The first tale about the wedding planner is the most light-hearted and has comical touches, though having organised several events I believe I would have been strangling the man who kept following the lady planner around distracting her. The others become more fraught and there's an adult section which I found too predictable and a bad example; just because a man and a woman are locked in somewhere for a period of time they are not required to have sex. The end of the tale is unexpected but we're left quite satisfied that all has worked out as well as it could... despite the early declaration that this wedding is doomed!

The four authors write with pretty similar styles in this book so I can't really remark on them except to say that they have made a nice job of this woven contemporary romance. A copy of this book was sent to me for an unbiased review.

The Wedding Planner 2

Hmm... this was a bit too much insta-love for me. I just have to take the word between the both of them that they were attracted to one another, rather than being shown their attraction. I liked it well enough, but Seth just annoyed me no end - his pranks (as well-intended as they were) made him come off being a bit of a brat.

The Maid of Honour 3
This was really promising. A long-term friendship, and the chance to take a risk on love. Ohh, that was such an exciting prospect. Then somewhere between an acknowledgement of each others' feelings and sex, and... I just didn't feel it anymore.

The Other Woman 5
Oh, that was wonderful! A second chance at romance and love with Penny and Blake, as well as a well-deserved comeuppance for Graham - I'm figuratively rubbing my hands together in delight, because now the blurb for the final story makes sense!

The Bride 4
Aww, that was rather sweet. I really adored Andy, particularly how he was a good listener and gave Tessa the space she needed to feel comfortable in her own skin, even in the ending. :)

Tessa... ah Tessa. She started out being a bit of a walkover - compromising when she really shouldn't have compromised. And while I would've loved to see her completely throw caution to the wind, I liked that she stayed true to character right to the end.

Sweet, silly, angsty, emotional, and in some cases downright scorching. From new love, to best friends, to second chances, to lucky escapes, there’s a little something in this anthology for every romantic heart. All while reading this book, I kept thinking about Harlequin’s Undressed by Heather MacAllister. In both weddings are the central theme of the four novellas about couples who need their status quo to be something different. I enjoyed all four stories and would love to read more about these couples and their families.
I received a complimentary copy of this book.

A to Z Reading Challenge: T (again)
I decided to read all the Ts because I couldn't make up my mind between them.
Light and entertaining interconnected romance stories all set around the same wedding. We have your enemies-to-lovers, friends-to-lovers, second-chance-romance, and...I dunno, love at first sight? I enjoyed the last story but I'm not 100% sure where to classify it. I think my favorite story was the second one, where two "platonic" besties get locked in a wine cellar and, well, things kinda progress from there. All very entertaining if not especially memorable.

This is a different kind of anthology than any I've read before. It's got a really cool concept where each story has the same first line, "This wedding is doomed!" And the neat part is that each story takes place at the same wedding!

So in the first story The Wedding Planner: Flirting with Disaster we see the wedding planner doing her best to find the maid of honor, get the caterer there on time, and try to keep the creepy uncle from ruining the wedding...except, the uncle isn't all that creepy, and isn't going to ruin the wedding. It's cute, and a fun start to set up the wedding.

In the second story The Maid of Honor: Lovers in Lockdown we have the maid of honor with her best friend, who is kind of a hot nerdy guy who's been in love with his best friend for years. He finally wants to tell her. I really enjoyed seeing a hero who was less sure of himself, and didn't want to ruin an amazing friendship with her. Trapped in the wine cellar, though, he has plenty of time to tell her how he feels.

The next story is The Best Man: Sex, Lies and Karmic Catastrophe and it's setting up the finale of the wedding. The best man is sent to run interference for the groom who saw a very unwelcome familiar face. The problem is that face belongs to the only woman the best man ever loved. And she isn't there to cause a scene, she's there to sing at the wedding! Now the best man has to choose between his friend, and the love of his life.

The finale of the book is The Bride: Love on the Run and as with all Jeannie Lin books, it isn't what I expected. Believe it or not, the wedding is actually doomed! The bride gets last minute jitters and takes off with the caterer. This was my favorite story and I'm glad she ended the book.

The whole idea of connected stories absolutely tickled me! This is a fun anthology with a surprise ending. Even if you're not typically into anthologies, give this one a try-it's definitely worth it!

Sometimes two people get married, have a beautiful wedding with the normal nerves and small glitches — and then there are the weddings that are simply destined to be trouble from the moment of the sun rising in the sky on the wedding day. These are the stories of such a wedding.

In This Wedding is Doomed! we have four stories (novellas) that take place around one wedding that is truly a wedding planner’s worst nightmare, a maid of honor’s chance, a difficult spot to be in for the best man and our bride – well, she’s got the worst situation of all.

The stories flow easily from one to the other, and just when one situation seems resolved another one begins. It was funny, charming, and romantic comedy at it’s best. While I personally enjoyed the bride’s story, the ending one, the most – they all were enjoyable reads I don’t feel comfortable giving away too much of each story as they are novellas, but if you enjoy romantic comedy and tear up at the very idea of a wedding, This Wedding is Doomed! is perfect for you.

I can definitely recommend this novel along with the disclaimer to be ready to laugh and perhaps shed a tear at this crazy doomed wedding.

*I received an e-ARC of This Wedding is Doomed! from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. That does not change what I think of this novel.*

~What you, the reader, always must remember is this simple truth. Any review is just one person’s opinion. You might feel the same or totally different. The only way to know for certain if any novel is right for you – is for you to read it. This was my opinion of this particular book.~

Cute! Super cute. The title was a fun hook, and I enjoyed the way each short story reincorporated it as the opener, leading from the comical, hyperbolic wedding planner's consternation at the beginning to the final installment. I appreciated the cohesion of the complete story as told through four interlocking romances, an approach I saw used to great effect in A Day of Fire. While the scope of this work is necessarily smaller, it's still a fun trick and well executed. And although genre romances aren't really my bailiwick, these four are all enjoyable. The sister-of-the-bride and the officiant's might be my favorite, although the final short story rivaled it, and I loved (or perhaps related to a little too much) the personality of the wedding planner in the first section.

Also, the title. I still love it. It makes me want to run around chanting "Doom. DOOOOM!"

A lot.

This collection of short stories tied together by taking place at the same doomed wedding, were on the whole fun and enjoyable to read. The Amanda Berry and Jeannie Lin stories that open and close this collection were the strongest. The middle stories had interesting tropes or characters but felt rushed and tried tackle too much emotional landscape in a short period of time.

My favorite was Jeannie Lin's The Bride: Love on the Run. Andy and Tessa were my favorite characters in the whole collection. Tessa is an easy going fiancee turned Runaway Bride. Andy is the caterer whose van she has hijacks. They make a connection & see a new start with each other even if the timing is terrible. It was funny, romantic and sweet. Their relationship progressed at a believable pace and I believed in their HFN more than any of the others in the book.

Theme: Four authors write interconnected stories centered around the same wedding. Something I appreciate, because it's always fun to get slightly different PoVs in the same area, because it drives int he point that there is just so much happening all the time.

Flirting with Disaster by Amanda Berry. 3 Stars.
Wedding Planner tries to do her job while mischievous relative tries to make a point by making sure something in the wedding is messed up. Cute story of a budding romance with plenty of banter and playful flirting.

Lovers in Lockdown by Shawntelle Madison. 2 Stars.
Longtime BFF of Maid of Honor pretends to lose wedding vows so he can get her alone to confess his love to her, and gets his chance when they are accidentally locked in the cellar. Apart from the conflating sex with romance, this story suffered from constant and subtle pushing of the friendzone premise- ie, I was always there for you and jsut waiting for the day you turn around a realize I'm the romantic interest you always needed. Also, really dude, you wait to confess to her on her sister's wedding day? Come on.

Sex, Lies and Karmic Catastrophe by Stephanie Draven. 4 Stars.
Cheating Groom sends Best Man to run interference with Woman. Woman, who turns out to be the beloved High School ex of Best Man, is horrified at being unwittingly made the other woman. Best Man ends up questioning what on earth he's doing here and now, exactly, and what that says about him as a person. The only issue I have with this one is how Blake's decision seemed a bit abrupt, something that might have been a function of the limited length- but could likely have been made better if he'd had more self-doubts at the start.

Love on the Run by Jeannie Lin. 4 Stars.
Bride panics and runs, bullying caterer to drive her away in his Van of Goodies. Good food and frank conversations ensue. This story suffered badly from the length limit because goddammit I really want a story about Tessa and Andy growing into a relationship because they are both adorable people.

Flirting with disaster: Seth is the drunk uncle or so the rumours suggest, though he doesn’t exactly for the mild. Julie is the hard working wedding planner. Together they are nemesis of the wedding- one trying to make it perfect the other make it less perfect. Add a splash of instant attraction and their meeting might be the best kick off. Just don’t forget the frozen champagne and glitter.
- I liked this cute story, but wish I could have seen more, especially an epilogue or some more of their chemistry after the wedding.

Lovers in lockdown- Max the best friend and officiant needs to have a heart to heart with his best friend the maid of honour Renata. Renata would always come to Max’s beck and call, and could use his help with finding someone to fix her dress. But add in being locked in a wine cellar, some booze and his feelings and things happen.

This was even steamier then the previous story, best friends finally taking things to a physical level, except sex wasn’t just a one time moment- it was a decision. The book was good, too short, but hopefully they make it.

I enjoyed how linked these stories were.... but n9 more spoilers on the last two short stories- you’ll just have to read them.

I really love this collection of stories that take place on one day at the same wedding from many different view points.

The Wedding Planner: Flirting with Disaster - Amanda Berry - features Seth and Julie - I loved they way Seth slowly helps Julie have a fun time. There is a lot of humor as they countdown to the wedding approaches. I also like the way it all turns out.

The Maid of Honor: Love in Lockdown - Shawntelle Madison - features Renata and Max. Long time friends but Max has feelings. Renata doesn’t want a relationship. But there they are trapped with nothing but time and booze. This could be the start of something beautiful. #CMCon26

The Other Woman: Sex, Lies, and Karmic Catastrophe - Stephanie Draven - features Blake and Penny. Blake is having a hard time caught between an ex-girlfriend as his best friend who expects him to keep secrets. He had changed so much but Penny helps him find his was back to something better.

The Bride: Love on the Run - Jeannie Lin - features Tess and Andy. When a bride wants to steal your truck you just go with the flow. Andy is there to talk things out. But timing is everything.

We get to see a really busy day so we can only speculate what is to come for all these couples

Murphy's Law, applied to a wedding...

A fun collection of four stories about things that can go wrong on a wedding day - at least fun for the reader, not so much for the characters involved... :-P

The level of doom is escalating with each story, starting with harmless pranks, raising the stakes when the officiant and the maid of honor go missing, and ending on the bona fide snafu of the last two stories.

My personal favorite was Tessa's story. I was rooting for her happy end pretty much from the first pranks being played, and I thought it was the perfect ending to the overall story arc.

This Wedding is Doomed is actually 4 stories written by 4 different authors but intertwined to make one complete book. The stories include a section on the wedding planner, the best man, the maid of honor, and the bride. Each story is well written to include humor, untapped love or lust, romance, and the start of happily ever after. The stories flow perfectly together and the writers’ styles are very similar that the book does not feel disjointed. It is charming, funny, and a romantic comedy at its finest.

A wonderfully well written book of four fairly quick intertwined stories with twist and turns by four different authors. They will include lust, love, and humor each having different people in a single wedding day. They are charming, funny, and romantic in these contemporary comedies. The stories all flow perfectly, with romantic moments, heated moments all with slight differences. A very good group of stories.

I am so very grateful that my wedding didn't end up like this one. Having said that, this is one wonderful book by the four authors [all of whom are new to me] that had me laughing out loud. Great storyline, characters, incidents and blending so well together to make this the fast paced page turner that it is. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Most definitely recommended. I will be looking for more of the books by Tracy Bloom, Cathy Bramley, Holly Martin and Lindsey Kelk.

I love how the book is written from the point of view of the wedding planner, the sister of the bride, the best man and the bride. The countdown to the wedding and the sequence of events that lead to the wedding or not. It is very funny that way it is written and I like how there are second chances and chances to figure out who you are.

Four novellas about different couples at the same wedding. One was sweet (low heat, relied on genre cliches), one was steamy, and two dealt with the challenge of infidelity in a relationship I started out rooting for (and later cheered for the ending of). Local authors and a fun premise that tied together nicely in the end, even if the novella form isn’t my personal favorite.

I’ve only read The Maid of Honor by Shawntelle Madison so my rating and review is only for that story. I enjoyed reading this short novella. It’s a sweet story with mild heat and features friends-to-lovers and forced proximity. I’m looking forward to reading more books by this author.
