Originally published in 1928, this is a two volume reprint from 1968. Jacob Schiff was an outstanding American banker, businessman, and philanthropist. He helped finance, among many other things, the successful Japanese military efforts against Tsarist Russia in the Russo-Japanese War. He was also a close business colleague of E. H. Harriman and deeply involved in railroad affairs. He was a generous contributor to worthy causes, including many Jewish institutions such as the Hebrew Union College and the Jewish Theological Seminary. This sympathetic biography was written by a longtime friend and mass extensive use of Schiff's letters. Volume 1 is 398 pages, Volume 2 is 306 pages with index.
