Sunship: A Spicy Friends to Lovers Slow Burn Romance

Rate this book
Imogen Vale has three Don't risk the job. Don't risk her heart. And absolutely don't risk Ash Morgan, her best friend.

For years, they’ve danced around the tension between them. Loyal, inseparable, a little too close, but never crossing the line. Until one night under the Ibizan stars changes everything.

Now the summer season has begun, and reality crashes back in. Imogen is determined to bury what happened. To keep things professional. To pretend nothing’s changed. But Ash is finished pretending.

As the sun scorches the island and responsibilities pile up, staying close but emotionally distant becomes impossible. Especially when secrets start to surface. Especially when danger gets too close. The paradise around them becomes a pressure cooker, and the one thing they’ve been avoiding might be the only thing that actually matters.

Set in the heat and heartbreak of Ibiza, Sunship is a steamy, slow-burn romance about best friends, buried feelings, and the line between loyalty and love. If you love emotional angst, protective heroes, and high-stakes tension, this is your summer escape.

Hi, I'm Emily. I write emotionally charged, slow-burn love stories where first kisses are dangerous, sex is sacred, and nobody walks away unscathed.

My debut novel, Peak Season, is a winter romance set in a ski resort. Equal parts heat, heartbreak, and found family.

I was diagnosed with ADHD in my forties, which finally explained why my mind never switches off and why I'm drawn to the messy, the intense, the unsaid. I live in the UK, usually with a glass of warm Prosecco and a few thousand words rattling around my head while I dodge typos and dream up characters who ruin each other in the best possible ways.

How can I move on from this!!!
I didn’t think book one could be topped but here we are !
There is such raw emotions in this and although you find yourself screaming at them, you start to realise that in their shoes you’d feel the same
I adored this story and it had be in tears but also on the edge of my seat. The writing flows so nicely that you forget you are reading and the time just flys

This was the easiest 5 stars 🌟

Sunship, the sequel to Peak Season, wastes absolutely no time pulling you back in—jumping straight into the lives of Ash and Imogen with a fiery, fast-paced opening that instantly hooks you. The chemistry, the tension, the emotion… it’s all there from the very first pages.

As the story unfolds, the pace softens slightly when Imogen is faced with a huge secret she must carry, and that shift adds a layer of depth that really grounds the story. I found myself completely invested—honestly, I was screaming at this book (in the best way possible). And Ash? The definition of a perfect book boyfriend. No notes, 10/10.

What really stood out was how unpredictable the story became, especially in the final quarter. I genuinely did not see those twists coming, and they hit hard—in a way that made the story even more memorable! We see the extent of the characters feelings for each other in their relationships and friendships.

At its core, Sunship is about character development, growing friendships, trust, relationships, chosen family, and navigating life’s biggest moments. Emily Harrison has such a talent for creating stories that feel warm and familiar—like coming home. There’s a comfort in her writing that makes you want to stay in her worlds just a little longer.

If I had one small criticism, it would be that I would have loved to see Imogen’s birth story. I feel that would have added in another aspect of emotion! That said, its absence didn’t take away from the overall impact of the book.
If you loved Peak Season, this one will absolutely not disappoint.

Another brilliant bonkbuster by Emily Harrison, in the second novel of her series. Following on from Peak Season, we are now at Sunship in Ibiza with our favourite holiday team. This novel focuses on the romance between Ash and Imogen, and of course all the beloved characters including Harley and Lola (our main couple from book 1) make appearances in this story, however the main focus is on Ash and Imogen. A beautifully written story, capturing the angst and inner turmoil of these characters, bringing them to life in a way that really makes the reader root for them and believe in them. I love Emily's writing style and her sex scenes are exquisite. See ya later E L James.....Emily Harrison has taken over! If chick lit is your thing but you also love a romance and a gripping story with lots of sex - but not just thrown in here and there, sex that actually brings something to the story then this is really the book and book series for you! This book could easily be read as stand alone but I would urge you to read it with the book series as book 2, by doing that you will become emersed more and already know the characters that provide the back bone to this story. It will also allow you to become part of their world. I really enjoyed this book, probably more than book 1! Theses stories just keep getting better and I can't wait for book 3

Sunship by Emily Harrison — you have absolutely undone me again.

I'm genuinely struggling to put into words how much this story affected me. Emily Harrison has once again written something so incredibly powerful and beautifully emotional that I am sitting here trying hard to hold it together after finishing it.

Ash and Imogen completely stole a piece of my heart. Their story was heartbreaking, beautiful, and filled with so much love and emotion. Ash's unwavering strength, devotion, and love for Imogen was something truly special. The way he stood beside her and loved her through everything completely broke me.

There are books you enjoy, books you can't put down, and then there are books that stay with you. Sunship is absolutely one of those books for me. I felt every emotion, every moment of pain, love, hope, and heartbreak, and I know this is a story that will stay with me for a very long time.

Emily Harrison has an incredible ability to reach inside you and make you feel things so deeply. I honestly don't know how I'm supposed to move on from Ash and Imogen because I don't think I'll ever get past this one.

Absolutely beautiful. Absolutely heartbreaking. Absolutely unforgettable.

Emily Harrison, you've done it again. ❤️

This book is a work based romance in an Ibiza resort. The story kicks off with Imogen and Ash having a spicy night together after dancing around their attraction to one another for years.

This book has:
Friends to lovers
Angst
Slow burn 🔥
Ibiza
Dual POV
and Found family.
This is book 2 of seasons of us series and can be read as a standalone.

Our MMC Ash: He is patience with a capital P! He has a heart of gold and is so kind and understanding. He also knows the language of flowers.... so major green flag there! (even if he does make hot chocolate with water, Imogen won't hold that against him...much.)

Now Imogen our FMC, she struggles so much, disbite the front she puts on and her many, oh so many, assurances that she's 'fine', when shes anything but.
I loved her friendship with troubled 18 year old Kat as even though Imogen comes from a privileged background, they both struggled with feeling the same way.

I loved the whole found family aspect and the drama.

I rate this 4 stars and look forward to seeing what Emily comes up with next.

A beautiful, slow burn romance with focus on love, friendship, patience, mixed feelings, hurt and trust.
Sunship takes you to the sunny skies in Ibitza shows how two people can love each other and being terrified to show or admit it.
I loved seeing two different people with completely different backgrounds having so many things in common and understanding each other.
The main characters, both Im and Ash, are beautiful described not only how they look but also their feelings, hurts, hopes, fear, struggles and success.
I also really enjoyed reading about what love can do and how it can change everything, including not giving up on others and having families that are not blood related.
I was really surprised to see the twist of events in the book but that just added more suspense for me and made me eager to discover more.
The book has a bit of everything, and I highly recommend it to anyone who like reading romance.
This was the first book I read by Emily Harrison but definitely not the last one.
I can’t wait for book 3.

Firstly, I adored this book! I didn’t think Emily could beat Peak Season but this was so good and I did not want to put it down and I had so many emotions whilst reading this book!

I loved Ash, he had a heart of gold, the small things he does for Im and how hard he loves everyone around him which is shown through his actions, his patience is key, it such an underrated green flag!

Imogen had my heart throughout the whole book, I wanted to give her a hug so badly. She had the kindest soul but struggled behind closed doors. Her relationship with Kat is such a powerful friendship!

I did not expect the twists and drama, I did not want to put the book down I needed to know what happened! I was so invested. The building of the resort in Ibiza was beautiful, the sun, fun, found family, drama and lots of love! The perfect read!

Thank you Emily for the ARC.

Sunship is one of those stories that slowly draws you in with its atmosphere and emotional depth. From the beginning, the story carries a sense of tension and uncertainty that keeps you curious about where everything is heading. As the plot unfolds, it becomes a thoughtful exploration of family, responsibility, and the difficult choices that shape who we become.

One of the strongest parts of this book is the characters. Imogen is a really compelling protagonist. She’s layered and complex, and you can feel the pressure she’s under throughout the story. Her loyalty to her family and the expectations placed on her create an internal conflict that makes her journey feel very real. Watching her try to balance what she wants with what others expect from her adds a lot of emotional weight to the story.

The supporting characters also add a lot to the narrative. Each one plays a role in shaping Imogen’s decisions and the path she takes. Their relationships feel genuine and often complicated, which makes the dynamics between them feel believable rather than simple or predictable. The interactions between characters help build the emotional core of the story and give the plot more depth.

The writing itself is immersive and atmospheric, making it easy to picture the scenes as they unfold. The author takes time to develop the relationships and the emotional stakes, which allows the story to build gradually. By the time the tension increases, you’re already invested in the characters and what happens to them.

Overall, Sunship is a character-driven story that blends emotional depth with a steadily building plot. If you enjoy books that focus on complex relationships, personal struggles, and meaningful character development, this is definitely one to add to your TBR.
