Noah & Jack: A Steamy MM Omegaverse Friends to Lovers Romance Novella

Rate this book
Six years of pining. One missed dose of suppressants. A friendship that’s about to go up in flames.

Noah

Living with my best friend, Jack, is a slow form of torture. He’s everything I want in an alpha—protective, kind, and devastatingly hot—but he’s also straight.

For six years, I’ve hidden my feelings behind a steady wall of suppressants and a carefully crafted "just roommates" facade. But when a city-wide shortage leaves me empty-handed just as my heat hits, the wall doesn't just crumble—it explodes.

Suddenly, I’m a mess of needy omega instincts, and the only person who can help me is the one man I’m terrified of losing.

Jack

I thought I knew exactly who I a guy who liked girls, going to the gym, and hanging out with his best friend. But when the air in our apartment turns thick with the honeyed, addictive scent of Noah’s heat, my world tilts on its axis.

Helping Noah through his biological crisis is supposed to be a "bro" favor, but one touch is all it takes to realize I’ve been hitting snooze on a wake-up call for years. Now, I don’t just want to help him—I want to claim him, mark him, and make sure he never looks at another Alpha again.

Noah & Jack is a sweet and steamy, friends-to-lovers MM omegaverse novella featuring a "straight" alpha’s awakening, a pining omega, and a surprise heat that changes everything. This is the second standalone installment in the Sudden Heats series, where biological emergencies lead to permanent bonds and friendships turn into forever. This series does NOT feature mpreg and is non-shifter omegaverse.

I swear these omegas need to start missing their suppressant doses more often because I devoured this SO QUICKLY.

I LOVED LOVED LOVEDDDD that they didn’t jump each other right away but instead tried to put as much distance between each other as possible. And little by little the walls they built started cracking and cracking until they finally gave in. FUCK that was hot…..

Also there’s nesting... which I’m still not a fan of because I find it so weird. BUT that’s only because I’m an omegaverse veteran. Back in MY DAY, there was no nesting, no nothing. Just heats and the VERY occasional mpreg. MAYBE suppressants? Idk.

And it just stuck with me... so whatever freaky shit nesting has become in omegaverse, I’m not catching up lol. Maybe it will grow on me one day!

Okay, this was a huge YES from me.
I stumbled across this on my feed today and read the whole thing in one go.
These boys were hot, sexy, and sweet, all at once.
This was my first book from this author.
I'm about to go now and find the others in this series.

OMG this was so cute!!! I usually avoid friends to lovers because either a) they weren't interested in each other before something occurs in the book which like... how could you not be in love with your friend from the start, dummies? Then again, if one or both of them are already in love with their friend then b) there's pining and I am a soft, soft lady whose feelings get hurt by that lol.

But in a short story? Yea, I can live through a little one sided pining when the page count is this short. It may have been six years for Noah, but it was only like 50 pages for me so!

This was hot, it was sweet, it had the perfect amount of everything, and there was NESTING! Still weirded out that there are no knots in this universe but I can survive it. Onto the next!

Pet name: baby

I slide back from where I’m straddling his thighs so I can lean down and lick a fat stripe over his hole. I’m vaguely aware that this is really diving in at the deep end for my first sexual experience with another guy, but he smells too fucking good for me to care.

“Are you gonna touch yourself?” he murmurs. “Or is my cock all you need?” Hearing him talk like this makes me feel like I’m losing my mind. “Just your cock,” I pant. “It’s so fucking good. All I need is your cock.” “Say it again.” Fuck. “You’re all I need,” I repeat. “Just you. Only need you.”

Safety (may contains spoilers)

SA/rape: None

Other person drama: Jack had plans to go on a date with some girl before Noah's heat hit but he didn't really want to go anyway and he canceled immediately when he realized what was up with Noah. There were mentions of both of their ex bfs and gfs but not gratuitous or detailed or anything.

Super short sweet, but hot novella. It seems that the alphas in this series are top notch gentlemen and I very much like that. Jack was caring and adores his best friend Noah. Noah is a school teacher kinda grumpy, kinda nerdy. One surprising heat and those two realised that they are so much more than just best friends. I love that trope 🫠

Don’t ask me why I decided to read an Omegaverse heat smutty short story when I was literally just thinking about needing a low spice book to chill out after a bunch of high spice books in a row. Like what??? Anyway, this was so perfect and exactly what you want in a best friends to lovers bi awakening fuck or die story.

This is 58 pages! Only 58 pages and yet it’s a complete love story - nothing rushed about it and ends with an adorable HEA.

I enjoyed this short story more than I’ve enjoyed many full-length novels I’ve read lately.

This is friends-to-lovers Omegaverse, nesting, sudden heat (duh) and a gfy that actually feels real - which is rare in the mm world.

I have no notes - I loved this! Added to Favorites shelf.

This was short, sweet, a little chaotic… and honestly just a really good time.

I flew through this.

If you love friends-to-lovers with years of pining and that one moment where everything finally snaps into place, this absolutely delivers.

Noah and Jack were so easy to root for. You can feel the history between them right away, and I love when a story doesn’t have to force the connection—it’s just already there, built over time. The tension from all that suppressed emotion made everything hit harder once things finally shifted.

And once it shifts… it shifts FAST.

This is definitely a quicker, high-paced story, but it works for what it is. It leans into that urgency and intensity, especially with the heat aspect, and keeps things moving without dragging anything out.

Jack’s realization was one of my favorite parts. I love a good “oh… oh wait” awakening moment, and this delivered that in a way that felt natural and satisfying.

The whole vibe is just very swoony with a bit of spice and a lot of emotional payoff packed into a shorter story.

If I had one small note, it’s just that I would’ve happily taken more of them. It ends in a really satisfying place, but I wouldn’t have complained about extra time with these characters.

If you like:

friends/roommates to lovers
long-term pining
bi/sexual awakening
omegaverse with emotional focus
short, fast-paced, satisfying reads

…this is definitely worth picking up.

I received an ARC and am leaving this review voluntarily.

I absolutely adored every bit of this story! Omegaverse isn't usually my thing, but if they're like this, consider me converted! Two college students are introduced by a mutual friend and over the 6 years they share space together, they become friends. They're now working professionals, but they always make time for each other and their little routines, which are so cute. Then one day....everything changes when Noah goes into an unexpected heat. I don't want to say too much more other than for me - this is pretty much the perfect story as it has everything I love AND it's well-written. Read it for yourself!!! Dear author - please may I have another???

What to Expect:
* MM romance
* Omegaverse
* alpha + omega
* friends/roommates to lovers
* introduced by friend (MC in previous story)
* tomato soup/grilled cheese
* sudden heat
* queer awakening
* idiots to lovers
* SPICE
* swoony moments, sigh

How the dirty talk in this book had me feeling like:

This ticked a lot of my ‘yes’ boxes. I didn’t realize I was on a ‘baby’ dry spell till Jack saying it hit me like a nuke. The issue I typically have with these short stories is that they’re always missing sustenance, plus they’re always the perfect set up for instalove/lust (the bad kind). These issues were easily fixable for me with the omegaverse friends to lovers trope and also Jack’s reasoning for making a grilled cheese with tomato soup every rainy day 🥹 and yeah, the sex was hot too. I also love a bit of nesting and omega purring, so cute 🫶🏽🙀

A short little treat. I love friends to lovers and this was so sweet. It was fun, light and spicy with the best outcome.
My first read from this author, but I will be on the lookout for more of this. It's short and you can get through it in no time.
Absolutely one to put your eyes on in a spare moment.

As everyone knows, in the Omegaverse, suppressants are strictly non-existent when an Omega goes into heat. No, scratch that—the entire country is out of stock. Even if you manage to find some, they’re either expired or just plain defective. Basically, suppressants in the Omegaverse are as real as the Loch Ness Monster, and the rest is history.🤣🤣🤣

Interesting read

This was my first “omegaverse” book, it was a fast paced introduction and a good read. The chemistry between Noah and Jack could be seen before the “heat” and it was interesting to read parts of the heat too.

Nice quick spicy read that’s for sure.

interesting

Noah & Jack story is one of my absolute favorites. I appreciate it that they took their time to develop their relationship and at the same time, I wish this book was longer in the best way.
