One year after his friend’s death, Malcolm Riker and his fractured team are still living in the shadow of what they lost. Their last mission stopped an out-of-control goddess—but it cost them dearly. When a glacial rift cracks open beneath Östersund, Sweden, unleashing a wave of unnatural cold and awakening something buried in ice, Malcolm is pulled back into a world of myth, monsters, and growing peril.
Skadi, the Norse goddess of winter, has returned—and with her, the first signs of Fimbulwinter. As the eternal frost spreads, ancient protections fail, and a new enemy the Wyrdborn, shadowy figures intent on toppling the Greek Pantheon. With time running out, Malcolm, Nadia, and Duncan must seek answers in forbidden places and form uneasy alliances. As their journey leads them deeper beneath the world, they begin to realize that the past isn’t finished with them yet. Some powers don’t stay buried. But neither do some friends.
The fourth installment in Hubert Mullins’s Under a Shattered Olympus series marks a bold shift in the series, introducing a broader scope to the world Mullins has crafted. The narrative explores a fight for a transition of power, as two pantheons of deities fight over who will have supremacy over our world, either the Olympians or the Asgardians.
This book veers away from the formula of the previous entries in the Under a Shattered Olympus series, but does retain some elements. This time though, Mullins ramps up the tension, action and carnage to an 11.
A sudden wave of catastrophic weather engulfs half the world in ice, raising the stakes on a global scale. Building on the lore established in the first three books, this entry expands the mythology as Mullins continues to layer his fictional world with more and more complexity.
Blending dark fantasy, apocalyptic horror, and monster horror, it delivers relentless tension, punctuated by unexpected twists. The result is a fast-paced, harrowing journey filled with chaos, destruction, and even more richly layered lore. In my opinion, each book in the series continues to get better, and I for one cannot wait to see where the story goes from here.
I am so glad this is an ongoing series! I couldn't leave Lizzy, Nadia, Duncan, Malcolm or Berg if I tried. To the End of the map for sure! This series has become the adult version of Rick Riordans pantheons, with the gore and the sarcastic wit you would find in American Gods. If you love horror, creepy crawlers, mythology, found families, redemption and revenge, this entire series is for you! As much as I have loved LITERALLY every single thing I've read from this author, this series truly takes the prize.
Under a Shattered Olympus Saga brings so many elements to the table. It’s suspenseful, full of lore, tragedies and triumphs, outstanding character growth, humor, and heart. Shifting into the Norse mythology realm with Under Jötunheim was so exciting and fast-paced, and yet allowed plenty of space to reconnect with the characters we know and love from the previous books. Their friendships are the driving force of this series and are so well-written. I was thrilled at hearing the series would be continued and had no doubt Hubert L. Mullins would deliver!
I don’t know how Mr. Mullins comes up with his stories but oh my goodness I am happy that he does!!!!! If you liked the first three books you are gonna love this one!!!!! Can’t wait to read the next two!!!!!!! This book was so worth the wait even tho I aggravated Mr. Mullins about it while I waited!!!!! Love, love, love it!!!!!!
Under Jötunheim, which is the fourth book in the Under Shattered Olympus series, releases May 8! I was so sad when Hubert L. Mullins said the series was ending as a trilogy, as I’d really come to love the characters and the entire world he built. It was a very pleasant surprise to hear there would be three more books!
I don’t want to give away too many details for those who haven’t read the first three, but my favourite characters are back for another dangerous adventure. This time they head to Sweden in search of the Norse god Skadi. There’s more death and destruction, more Gods, more monsters, and so much action in this one! I love the mix of horror and mythology, and I highly recommend checking out this entire series!
