From the author of "Page Thirteen - The Book." The measure of a man's life is determined at the end of his road. This novel is a snapshot out of the days, and a glimpse into the heart of Eddie "Chief" Parfait, a man familiar with life on the edge. Chief's story started in old Jefferson, a rough area between the Mississippi River and the railroad yard. He finally found his peace on Snider's Bayou, where his road ran full circle.
Welcome to my Goodreads slice of the literary universe and thank you for visiting. I hail from the Crescent City, New Orleans, and grew up in Old Jefferson. Old Jefferson is on the east bank of the Mississippi River and is located just upriver of ‘uptown’ New Orleans. It’s a unique corner of the N.O. metropolitan area, as you'll see as you progress through the novels. It was only as I got older that I came to realize the significance that the river plays on my bio. Playing on the levee as a boy, working the maritime vessels as a young man, the shipyards, the bridges that span the Mississippi, and travelling the old River Road to my true love’s cottage each evening – this was the mold that formed the young man that Old Jefferson sent into the world. I’m long removed from the river ridge, settled with family in the rugged Appalachian foothills of North Alabama. I love the mountains with their gorgeous Autumn color and panoramic vista, but New Orleans and Old Jefferson will always live in me. I hope you enjoy the stories and feel welcome to ask questions, comment, and leave feedback and review. With best regards, David Myers
Page Thirteen - Chief is the second book that I've read by this author and I knew that it was going to be better than the first book Page Thirteen - The Book because I know the author David Myers is an amazing writer but this book blew me away. I couldn't stop reading. The story was amazing. I love reading a book that you can't predict what is going to happen and the story just flows. It read like real life and I really can not remember reading a book that made me feel the way this one did. I'm still crying and for me if a book can bring tears to my eyes I love it even more. I truly wish I could give this more than five stars because it deserves so much more. And I didn't even mention that the city this book is set in is my favorite city ever because this book is so much more than just that. THIS IS A MUST READ, especially all of my friends in Jefferson and New Orleans if you don't read this book you are missing out. My thanks to the author, I can't wait to read his next book on my list!
