The Legend Rubio (Walking Wolf), an old Navajo warrior tells his story to Ben Blue over coffee and a camp fire. As a young man in the late 1820s, Rubio had been as happy and contented as the spirits, which govern a man’s life, would allow. When his young wife and his children were taken from him, he was driven to take up the warrior’s trail. One man declared war on a nation… the Apache nation. A sheep herder and corn planter had turned scalp hunter, and for over a year, Rubio wreaked havoc and revenge.
Lou Bradshaw is a lifelong story teller, who spent most of his life as a commercial illustrator and graphic artist. Deadlines, clients, and vendors were all sources of sleep depriving stress. To combat insomnia, he would often create stories in his mind to take the place of what was bothering him. Soon, some of those stories had grown to the point that they needed to be put on paper. Taking up a felt tip pen and a loose leaf binder, he found something new, challenging, and exciting. He soon filled multiple binders and his distraction had become a passion. Upon retirement, he began assembling notes and scribbles into novels… the rest is history. One of the unique features of his work is that as a dyslexic child, he was considered either slow or lazy by most of his teachers. To date he has written 7 books, which is 6 more than he was able to read while in school. His only legitimate book report, although 3 months late, was Huckleberry Finn. Lou and his wife Avon live in the Missouri Ozarks, where they enjoy their family, golf, and the great outdoors.
An exceptionally well written descriptiveness of Rubio, and quite impressive, to say the least. I have been a follower of Ben Blue and Rubio sin their first encounter. They create the perfect twosome for exciting stories, and each episode creates more entertaining excitement!
Certainly worthy of the five stars, as I was hooked from the very beginning of this story. I am very impressed with Mr. Bradshaw's descriptiveness of each episode throughout all of his stories.
This story is very compelling for the reader, as I could not read fast enough to see what happened next. The storylines and characters seemed to materialize before my very eyes and the excitement of each episode only enhanced the unsuspecting outcome.
Yes! I most definitely recommend this story to readers of exceptionally well written western stories as Mr. Bradshaw does his best to pacify the expectations of his reader. Don't miss the Ben Blue series as you will one day hate yourself?
Ben asks Rubio to tell his story one night over a campfire. The story is narrated by Rubio as he tells about his life as a Navajo corn planter with a wife and two children. He had been challenged by an Apache warrior that Rubio left with a large facial scar. The Apache warrior returned later and killed his wife and two children. Rubio describes the journey and determination he had to revenge the murder of his family. We learn of his determination, fear, courage along his journey that lasted over a year until he successfully eliminated Scar Face. Rubio returns with Scar Face's wife and daughter where they lived for many years.
This was a non-stop story of action and courage told by Rubio. His exploits resulted in his being down as a legend. This was very interesting story as we travel through rugged country in pursuit of an evil killer.

Enjoyed this novel about Rubio and his native American heritage. How he lost his first family and got another. How Rubio gained his reputation, his revenge, and his new family. Excellent story most western never focus on Native Americans.
Lou Bradshaw is a rare breed. While grammar and spelling errors normally frustrate me no end, I find that his just make me smile a bit. He writes with a gusto that is very appealing.
Lou did it again! Ben Blue is one of fifty of my favorite characters Lou Bradshaw is my favorite author of western novels as of the last five years. He writes a story that reminds me of Zane Grey and Lou that is the highest compliment that I would give anyone.
I found this story genuinely captivating. The kind that you can only put down for food or the call of nature. Trust me this, you will love this adventure.
Vengeance can lead a man to do things he wouldn't normally do. Rubio takes after the man who killed his family. Nothing will stop him from getting HIS vengeance.
