I liked Quinn and Avery together. The chemistry was there from page one, and I liked when they met again in professional circumstances. The relationship was sweet and had good communication between the two characters. Quinn wanting to buy Avery's added a tiny bit of tension and conflict of interest. I wish Steele wrote more scenes or key scenes that actually triggered and showed what made two characters fall for each other, rather than just telling the reader. The relationship growth was satisfying and sweet to read, with enough spice to make it balanced. The secondary characters played the role of cheerleaders well, but could have been more layered and less similar. Yet, they are very likable. Steele's writing has matured, with fewer short, poem-like sentences to close chapters, and I appreciate it. Nevertheless, I found numerous repetitions in characters' dialogue that were a bit frustrating. But overall, Steele delivers a sweet novel.

Compared to ‘Stay Right Here’ (Steele’s first book) this one took me way longer to finish. I think it was all the tech-business talk that threw me off.
I feel like the romance got pushed to the side some times and then others it was too intertwined in the plot. Although a noteworthy mention: there weren’t half as many ‘gay only’ bars etc. Everywhere wasn’t covered in glitter and pride flags this time.
Avery meets Quinn at a bar one night, they have instant chemistry and end up having a mind blowing one night stand.
The next week (I think?) Avery discovers Quinn is the founder and woman trying to acquire her queer dating app company ‘Lilith’. So right from the start there’s tension and the pair get off on bad footing. Pretty soon after though, they come to an agreement which leads to Avery and Quinn getting lunch outside of business hours - after Avery shows up at Quinn’s for another one night stand. Things progress and soon enough they’re being lesbian stereotypes- long distance dating and yearning 24/7. But I think this is where things dragged for me.
Quinn’s character is very reserved, cold-exterior type and she gives off massive serious CEO vibes. She was a difficult character to like, we didn’t really get much of her background - nor Avery’s - but she did end up with redeeming character development.
You could tell how much she was trying to hold back with Avery bc of her past, and her friend was doing her best to drag her out of her head - which she succeeded in. But once she was with Avery - and was present - she was a different person (with quite the mouth too 🔥).
I did appreciate her character development and the realisations she came to about herself and her company. She was honest and unfiltered from the start about what she wanted from the start both with Avery and on the business side - we love emotional maturity.
Avery, I liked - but didn’t love. I can’t really categorise her. She was very chaotic and resilient, but maybe a bit too trusting of some things. She was hurt by her ex and didn’t like letting ppl in, but then flipped to showing up at Quinn’s door for another ONS her intentions were confusing sometimes.
I loved the dedication she had for her company and how much thought went into every decision she made especially in the beginning. She didn’t let a relationship get in the way of her work, or let it them become tangled.
Their relationship was probably one of my least favourite things - which given it’s a romance book is kinda bad - but there was too much overthinking and doubt. For a good portion of the book, they went long distance - LA to NY - and the amount of anxious thoughts they were having got irritating quickly. They both needed to chill or go see a relationship therapist or something bc it’s not always that deep. Although the spicy scenes made up for it (FT calls 🌶️)
When they were together though there was definitely physical chemistry but I found it hard to get on board with the emotional part until towards the end.
All in all I did enjoy this, but not as much as SRH. I would have liked more sapphic yearning, more angst and less ‘what does this photo mean?’, ‘why hasn’t she called me tonight?’ energy.
I will be reading ‘Sparks Fly’ tho

I loved this from the start. Two smart, brilliant, and gorgeous women CEOs falling for each other? Count me in. Their intial hook up was so hot and the chemistry was definitely there. I like that we saw Quinn kicking herself for not researching the CEO of the company she was acquiring because I was thinking the same thing. Why wouldn’t you do that before the meeting? I’m glad it was addressed , it was realistic.
I read this pretty fast because it kept me entertained and engaged. It was less angst than I expected. There is the issue of Quinn being with the CEO of the company she wants to acquire. But it doesn’t hinder any of their time together or how hard they fall for each other. In fact, I found myself a little annoyed at all the effort Quinn was going through for Avery. It makes sense at first, but once they’ve established their relationship , I felt like Quinn was making up for things she didn’t need to make up for. Things that were out of her control , Avery would get upset at. I didn’t necessarily believe the reason for the “third act break up” of sorts (it’s not really a break up per se) was valid on Avery’s end.
Both MCs best friends are the real MVPs. They obviously both love and care for their best friends and it shows through out the book. Both besties were honest with MCs and didn’t shy away from telling them about themselves. That is a true friend right there. Someone who isn’t going to say “Yes” just because they are your friend.
I loved the whole concept of Lilith and how Gabby and Avery started it and run it. One can only dream that we can have a dating app like that for queer women .
Overall, the story was amazing and I loved getting to know Avery and Quinn. Like I said earlier, the issue that Avery had (trying to not spoil) didn’t land with me well. I felt like she had no right to be upset and I was further annoyed that Quinn felt like she had to “fix” it. Nothing was broken. The issue was solved easily, which makes sense because it shouldn’t have been an issue in the first place. The epilogue was great and I loved that we got to see into the future but not too far ahead. it wrapped up nicely and there’s several characters in this that I’d love to see have their own books. I would give this a solid 4 stars! I always enjoy reading Cee Steele’s work.I can’t wait to read more from her! Thank you again for the ARC!

I really enjoyed reading The Acquisition of Us.
The concept for a dating app truly focused on queer people was very interesting, more so a team behind it that actually takes the feedback from its users into consideration and takes action to correct and better the app based on it.
The chemistry between Avery and Quinn was there right from the start and I loved them taking and giving up control without a problem. I expected there to be more angst throughout the story but I lamented that usually Quinn was the one taking action to fix it. Quinn was the one who was always traveling to Avery instead of sharing that burden, but I can recognize that the story develops in a small timeframe. The third act breakup felt a bit unjustified and it could have been solved by one conversation and a little trust but I can also kind of understand that when we hear information from someone else instead of the person we care about, we can act irrationally and blow the tiniest situation out of proportion.
This is the second book that I’ve read by Cee Steele and I loved it just as much as the first one. Thank you for providing me with an eARC.

The moment I started reading this, I didn’t want to put it down. Both MCs, Avery and Quinn, are CEOs of their own company. Lilith app is Avery’s heart and soul. I wish this was a real dating app, damn it sounds amazing. Running this app with your best friend, even better. Halo, Quinn’s company, is coming in to acquisition it into her own. But things don’t always go as planned.
It was great getting to know these characters, and their friends. Friends show up for them, but don’t say what they want them to hear. Instead they get them to understand and hold them accountable for their actions.

What a book! This one totally captured my heart. The story is beautifully written and genuinely engaging. The character dynamics feel authentic and perfectly aligned with each of their personalities. Add in the exceptional narration, and it’s pretty much perfection.
Avery Rosetti has built Lilith, a queer dating app, into what it is today. She’s poured everything into both her company and the community it represents. Opposite her is Quinn Sinclare, the no-nonsense CEO of tech giant Halo, who has her sights set on acquiring Lilith. Quinn is sharp, focused, and all business.
The tension between passion, heart, and strategy makes for such an interesting dynamic between these two.
An absolute keeper for my library, and I’ll be recommending the hell out of it, especially impressive as only the second book from this author.

I wanted to like this book, but I felt like the whole time the author was telling me instead of showing me. The descriptions were repetitive and a little grating.
It was however a cute story, with very little tension and if that’s what you’re looking for it fits the bill!

DNF at 46%. 😭😭 The story had an interesting premise i guesssss 😭 but it felt like it needed more editing and polishing throughout. 🤗 whoever edit this did not do their job right or loves plotholes & inconsistency 😭 I struggled with consistency and immersion which is it didn’t fully work for me.🤗🤗🤗

What happens when your one night stand happens to be the woman who’s company you’re trying to acquire? That’s what happens when Quinn meets Avery. An acquisition turns into a minefield of want and desire while navigating both of their jobs. Can they separate work from desire and will long distance work out?
I enjoyed this book. Cee Steele delivered two characters who’s drive and desire for power should clash and not in a good way. But instead we get two women in their mid to late 30’s whose work ethic and power games create something unshakeable. Quinn and Avery’s dynamic reads as the perfect mix of power exchange between two strong women, a partnership that is split equally, despite their work dynamic. I only wish that A wry had of fought more against the acquisition of her company.
I also loved the fact that there was no third act break up in sight, it’s a trope that has been used to death and becomes tiring after a while. Healthy and mature relationship work through hardships through open and honest communication without making decisions that ruin what two people have. I did however wish that there was more conflict that would’ve tested both characters resolve, just to shake things up a bit. Overall though The Acquisition of Us is a fun, lighthearted read, with minimal angst and a great dose of spice.

I received an ARC of this book and chose to leave a review voluntarily.
This one leans very much into, “fast-paced, high-heat erotica”, and it’s an easy book to fall into. The writing is accessible, the tone is light, and it doesn’t take long to get pulled into the dynamic between the two main characters.
There’s no denying the chemistry here, it’s immediate, intense, and carried well throughout the story. The tension between them, paired with their sharp, sometimes feisty back-and-forth, made for some really fun moments. And Henrietta? That commanding CEO energy had me smiling more than once 😂
That said, I did find myself a little torn as the story progressed.
Around the middle, the pacing started to dip for me. Some of the conversations felt a bit drawn out without adding much to the overall story, and it slightly pulled me out of the experience. I also struggled a bit with consistency and immersion, there were moments where I wasn’t fully convinced by the emotional flow, which made it harder to stay completely invested.
The spice is definitely a big focus here, and while it’s hot and plentiful, I did feel like some of the scenes started to blur together. A bit of repetition crept in, and a few moments felt longer than they needed to be, which took away some of their impact.
There were also a couple of instances where I found myself wanting just a bit more clarity or follow-through, particularly when new elements were introduced into their dynamic. Those moments felt like they had potential to add something fresh, but weren’t always fully explored.
Overall, this was a quick, spicy, easy read with strong chemistry and a fun dynamic at its core. While it didn’t fully land for me in terms of pacing and consistency, I can definitely see it working really well for readers who enjoy “erotica-heavy sapphic romance with bold personalities and lots of tension”.

Quinn and Avery were hot from their first meeting, especially as they played with power and control. I have to say I like it when a masc who is dominant in most aspects of her life; gives up control in the bedroom.
I find great joy in the awkward meetings after a one-night stand and loved how it landed with Quinn and Avery. Getting into Quinn’s head as she tries to figure out how she didn’t know who she’d slept with the night before was brilliant.
The spicy scenes were plentiful and included toys and power play dynamics. I felt the yearning and want Quinn and Avery had for one another in these moments and those leading up to them.
The acquisition of Avery’s company by Quinn’s is the through story line that keeps Quinn and Avery in each other’s orbits. The back and forth of balancing business with pleasure as they try to work through what it would mean for Quinn’s company to buy Avery’s company was a great way to keep the tension high.
Both Quinn and Avery have great best friends. I found them more present for the first part of the book, less present as the roamnce developed, and then became much more involved in the last third of the book. This isn’t a criticism at all; because isn’t that exactly what happens when two people get together and want to spend all their time together.
There was so much for Quinn and Avery to work through between the business angle, both being workaholics, and living on opposite coasts (NY/LA) but sometimes obstacles are worth climbing over.

Spicy!
This is the second book I've read by Cee and I don't know, but it wasen't what I expected.
First of all it's described as enemis or dueling CEO romance but you don't get much of that, secondly Quinn looks like an ice queen but is actually a simp and their relationship for more than half the book was little more than just sex or at least it felt that way to me.
Honestly it was a bit’ repetitive, I don't know how many times I've read this sentence“I woke up with her arm around my waist” . However the same cannot be said for the spice scenes, which, unlike many books, were very diversified.
Another positive point is the maturity of the characters and the way they resolved their first fight without resorting to a break up. Furthermore I really liked the epilogue.
PS:I was hoping to see a little more of the MCs' past, it would have helped to understand the reason behind their struggle.
Overall it's 3.5 ⭐ and 4 🔥

First and foremost, Cee is one of my favorite new authors. I had the honor of being involved with Stay Right Here last year, and I'm honored to be involved with this book.
Now, Avery and Quinn… What you see is not exactly what you get.
Avery is very much the passionate, fierce, commanding presence at Lilith. She knows what she wants for her company, and she's willing to fight to ensure it happens.
Quinn starts out very ice queen, stoic, and controlling. However, as the story progresses, she grows. She softens, her ice melts, and she becomes a new woman.
When things get real, both our leading ladies have trouble with different aspects, and at first, they don't talk about it. Things get weird, and then one of them cracks.
The story was fantastic and will draw you in. Avery, Quinn, and all the side characters have depth, warmth, and are extremely likable.
The emotion of this story still hits, but it hits differently from Cee's debut, Stay Right Here. This is a story about overcoming your own personal road blocks and finally accepting that you deserve more.
All in all, if you enjoyed Stay Right Here, you'll enjoy this book. The heart, the banter, and the spice are all here. And you'll fall for Avery and Quinn.

ARC Review, My honest thoughts.
I liked this book from the start to the end. It’s pretty fast paced which made it an easy read, but there was some issues with the editing that annoyed me. I am hoping these issues were addressed between the ARCs being sent out and the release of the book. We have Avery and Quinn as the MCs, they are both CEO’s of their own companies. They have a one night together, not expecting to see each other again. Then they come face to face in the conference room of Avery’s company as Quinn is trying to buy it. This story shows the ups and downs of trying to figure out business together while falling for each other. The side characters are the MC’s BFFs and they are all pretty fun. The BFFs are great at supporting a friend but felt a little one dimensional. Quinn shows decent amount of growth. Avery is learning to trust. They had immediate chemistry. This book is on the spicier side. Overall, it was a good read.
Here is a quote that made me laugh:
“’This is either your comeback era, or a bad idea waiting to happen.’
Avery laughed. ‘Can’t it be both?’”

I finished this audiobook and immediately had to hop on to review it because WOW… this was such an amazing listen! Quinn and Avery were everything I want in a rivals-to-lovers romance. Two powerful, ambitious women at the top of their game, with a potential acquisition of one of their companies, while also fighting undeniable chemistry? Sign. Me. Up. I loved the tension after their unforgettable first meeting and the “oh crap… it’s YOU” realization when they discovered who they actually were to each other. And I loved the natural progression of their relationship. And Devon Chandler absolutely knocked it out of the park with the narration. They brought so much personality and emotion to Quinn and Avery and I would happily pick up another audiobook narrated by them in a heartbeat. Like please. Give it to me now. This was an incredible story, a phenomenal audiobook, and I’ve already been shamelessly fangirling about it in all my book groups lol.

I really enjoyed this book from start to finish. The chemistry between the two FMCs was immediate and intense. The story follows Avery and Quinn who after a night together unexpectedly come face to face in their jobs. I think the storyline was fantastic and written well.
Not only did I enjoy the main characters but the best friends of Avery and Quinn were brilliant. They always had their backs and I would love to know their stories!
I did feel like the phrase ‘you’re insufferable’ was used maybe a bit more than necessary but it made sense where and when it was being used. That is probably more of a me thing!
There was a judgy cat, several Killing Eve mentions and women in power. What more could a sapphic girl want?! 😍 I can’t wait to read more from Cee!
Ps… it’s very spicy 🌶️
I recommend this to anyone who enjoys a chemistry and spice filled sapphic romance.

Quinn and Avery have so much chemistry (not just sexual). I love that they are both badass boss babes and appreciated how they each had separate hang ups they had to overcome but were able to talk through things and listen to outside advice from their friends. I read the whole thing in less than a day, so engagement was better than good, I couldn’t put it down! I was excited about this one before it came out and it did not disappoint!

I enjoyed The Acquisition of Us from beginning to end. This book was super sweet and super spicy and I loved it! I loved getting to know the characters, though I feel a bit more backstory would have been nice, but I loved how they meshed together so well and quickly and had great conversations of their expectations of their relationship. I loved how side characters really shined in this as well, they both had friends that were such good hype women and really helped along the way.
All in all, I really enjoyed this story of two strong women coming together.
