The plot was fine, the characters were fine, and the pacing was fine. I definitely enjoyed the read, but felt everything could’ve been more developed. The main character was interesting as an individual, and the men were distinguishable, but I wish there had been more time spent on development rather than insta-love. I still recommend it because it was a ton of easy fun.

I liked this book but to me there wasn’t anything that really stood out or wowed me. I was getting annoyed with the FMC by the end. I also wasn’t really feeling the relationship between Elara and the alpha. It felt like it went from enemies to lovers like a switch had flipped. I did like the premise and it was an interesting take on shifters. I will read book two to see if this picks up more. I will say that I did like her Fractured series a little more.

Sadly, this one just didn’t work for me. I really wanted to connect with the characters, especially with a why choose romance, but everyone felt very flat and 2D to me. I never really felt a strong connection with any of the guys, which made the romance fall a little flat.
Elara also got on my nerves quite a bit throughout the book. Some of her choices had me questioning her decision-making more than once, and I found myself getting frustrated with her instead of rooting for her.
The premise had a lot of potential, but unfortunately the characters and romance just weren’t there for me.
Sadly, this one just didn’t work for me. I really wanted to connect with the characters, especially with a why choose romance, but everyone felt very flat and 2D to me. I never really felt a strong connection with any of the guys, which made the romance fall a little flat.
Elara also got on my nerves quite a bit throughout the book. Some of her choices had me questioning her decision-making more than once, and I found myself getting frustrated with her instead of rooting for her.
The premise had a lot of potential, but unfortunately the characters and romance just weren’t there for me.

I finished this book in less than a day. Every spare moment from the second I got this book was spent reading it. It hooks you in immediately, and then refuses to let go. The pacing isn’t too slow, and I didn’t find myself speed reading through parts that bored me.
The slow burn is slow but not torturous. There is tension, and intrigue. There is clearly so much going on beyond what information you’re given, and this very much feels like the beginning of a larger story.
Each MMC has a distinct personality and while Elara is very immature, I can see the potential for a lot of character growth as the story moves forward.
The cliffhanger made me screech. I was so wrapped up in what was happening that I didn’t realize I was at the end and I wasn’t prepared for it to just stop, but it does. Now I want the next book.
Mild spoilers ahead, if you get frustrated by characters not communicating, you are going to really love this book. Two of the characters have a moment where one of them could have chosen to not communicate, and instead they talk like actual adults! It’s a moment that makes me want to continue the story even more. That doesn’t happen often, and it’s a breath of fresh air.
While there is an instant connection between Elara and her guys, they all fight It in different ways. They don’t immediately trust each other or jump in to bed with one another. It’s that push pull keeps it from being boring or making me lose interest. I want to watch these characters figure the things out and grow, because this book feels like it’s giving everything room to grow. I think as the story progresses, everything will continue to build and any rough spots will smooth themselves out over the course of the series.
Waiting for the next book is going to be torture.

Bound by the Savage Moon by Hannah Haze kicked off with a bang, jumping straight into the action, which I love. This story is an enemies to lovers, slow burn, why choose shifter romance.
This is an easy to read tale of a mage, Elara, orphaned at a young age and making her mark at an elite military academy for mages. In an unlikely encounter, she is bitten by an alpha shifter wolf, Rhydian, who, though they are mortal enemies, is trying to save her from plummeting to her doom. The bite marks Elara as “mate” to Rhydian, so you can imagine how that complicates things.
Returning to the academy, the bite won’t heal, and gradually her attention is pulled from her training to that strange shifter wolf in the forest. She is changing in untold ways. The danger of being discovered as “bitten” puts her life in very real and present danger, and all the while, she keeps feeling an undeniable pull toward the shifter, Rhydian.
There are some additional characters introduced who have a unique pull toward Elara, though with this being book one, we don’t see how that develops. I imagine this is where the why choose elements come in, which we’ll probably see unfold in book two.
I loved the fast paced nature of the story and that it was easy to keep turning the pages. I found the concept of the change Elara is going through to be super intriguing, and her connection to Rhydian to be very primal and heart provoking.
Overall, this was a fun, easy to read, intriguing story that definitely left me curious to see where Elara’s journey goes next.

Well as a big fan of wolf shifters and enemies to lovers I really wanted to love this and the premise was there but the actual execution just didn’t live up to my expectations It wasn’t bad per se. I was invested enough to finish it out but I spent the whole book wishing and hoping for something more interesting to happen.
The majority of the book is spent from Elara’s POV and we know she’s an orphan and a mage but we get very little of her backstory and we get no world building on why the shifters and the mages are enemies and there was plenty of space in this book to give us that. I couldn’t decide if I liked Elara. She’s extremely competitive, uptight and hard on herself. And we got very little personality or info on our potential MMCs.
This was a strange combo of slow burn and insta lust. It wasn’t until the last 10% or so that any romance happened but considering the two MCs spent little to no time together previously it all felt a little contrived. I love fated mates as a trope but the author never gave us more than “he bit her” as an explanation for their romance. The character I was most intrigued by and wanted more of was The Dark Raven. Now that’s an MMC whose layers I wanted to peel back. We get a fourth POV but it’s unclear where in this story that particular character will land.
Overall there was enough pages to give us a meatier plot and more romance but the author just missed the mark.

The mage and shifter enemies to lovers aspect was a new one for me. Kept me engaged but I wish there were a bit more background about Elara and the mages, and the shifters and why they are enemies in the first place. There was hinting of a reason but we were never actually given one.
I love the fact Elara a mage was bitten by a shifter, it’s quite exciting to see how she will transform or how her powers will change or develop as well as, how they both will navigate this new reality between them both. And then how the others who may join the relationship and how they will all navigate the new relationships together later on.with this being a why choose ,That should be very interesting and violent.
Will Silas be a love Interest ? That could also be interesting as we did get his pov. Maybe I’m not totally against that.
I wish there was more of a build up to the mage and shifter relationship it was a near enough insta love for my liking. There was a little yearning thrown in there but not enough of it. This book has so much potential I can’t wait and I’m excited to see where Hannah takes the story next. And I’m yearning for the next book with that cliff hanger x

This was alright, nothing amazing. It is a why choose, enemies to lovers start to a trilogy. We have wolf shifters and mage who are fighting a war against each other. Our MFC, Elara, is a mage in training at an all girl academy. She is in a battle with the shifters when she I s bitten by one. To be bitten by a shift means they choose you are their mate and it would be seen as treason to the mages. Elara hates the shifters and has to deal with her feeling about this bite and hides it from the academy. Our MMC, Rhydain, is the alpha to the Northern Pack. He is dealing with the pressure of his pack to take a mate, while hiding the fact he bite/marked a mage. These two hate each other but feel a magical pull. I didn’t buy their romance. At one point they are enemies and the next lovers with very little build up between them. Elara annoyed me half the time with her behavior and attitude. She reads very immature and young even if she is supposed to be in her mid-20s. The why choose aspects of this story didn’t occur in this book, so very slow build up. It is Multi-POV, but same of the views I had no connection to, so didn’t care about. This is a fast read. I’m not sure I will be continuing with this series, but we will see. It is releasing October 1st.

I was truly intrigued by the Mage concept, the shifter war, and of course… give me a good enemies-to-lovers and I’m listening!
The storyline itself had so much potential but unfortunately, the execution just didn’t quite hit the mark for me.
The biggest issue was the enemies-to-lovers progression. It went from I absolutely hate this man….to apparently we’re doing this now so quickly. There was no real build-up or tension to make that transition feel believable, and I desperately needed more of that slow-burn angst and chemistry.
And then we got the why choose? trope which, for me, really didn’t work. I’ve read A LOT of reverse harem/why choose books, and this one just wasn’t giving what I needed. The relationships didn’t have enough depth or development for me to really buy into the dynamic.
There were some really interesting ideas here, and I could see the potential in the world, the Mage concept and the shifter war, but ultimately it felt like it was missing that oomph That addictive tension, emotional depth and I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT feeling.
I wanted more build-up, more chemistry, more emotional connection and honestly, just more.

This had such a fun Romeo and Juliet-esque setup, with two sides at war, a forbidden connection and plenty of “but who is actually the villain here?” energy. I loved the magical lore around the Mages and shifters, and the mystery running underneath it all definitely kept me curious.
It did read a little more YA-ish than your typical romantasy, particularly with the academy setting and overall tone, but I can see that working really well for readers who love that style.
I just wanted a little more from the characters and relationships. There are some really interesting dynamics being set up, but a few characters still felt a little distant, so I didn’t become quite as invested in them as I wanted to.
Still, there are some very fun foundations here with forbidden bonds, enemies-to-lovers tension, mysterious magic and a whole lot of questioning everything you’ve been taught.

I’m not a big fan of enemies to lovers but shoot me - I love fated mates and Hannah does them so well.
I’m also loving the shifters in this one - but you can’t go wrong with me and shifters.
Adding some mages in and mixing it up has been fun - the world building and character build up has been interesting. I would consider this a slow burn but with Hannah’s series usually going five books I get it.
Our FMC Elara is immediately hit with a defeat as soon as we open the book (on brand for the author). And we’ve got some dark and twisty lies, and some gorgeous men (allergic to their shirts - yes ma’am).
The plot is built up in depth and it’s already setting up for expansion in future books. Elara is building up her harem and I’m sure we’re going to get some more and more devastating cliffhangers. Hannah why????? 😭 makes me super keen to figure it out.
First books can be difficult to adjust to - new characters and sometimes scenes can jump quickly. But I can’t go past this author and will 100% be following this series.

Thank you for the ARC its always a good day when you get to read thr books you want and not wait till the releasing date its like Christmas came early!! This one was such a interesting read, the story starts with Elara trying to fight her way against the shifters but somehow she gets bitten by someone which makes things super complicated. Her hatred for shifters is valid but then as you read on you see shifters might not be the bad bunch they are portrayed to be? Its a push and pull for her which was fun to read, there's another love interest or two who gets introduced and they both couldn't be more opposite to each other. This one ends on a cliffhanger and it makes me go Ahhhh but then I'm excited to see some group dynamics in the coming book with this bunch, it could be funnily messy!!

Phew 😮💨🥵 I’m still trying to recover from that cliffhanger!! I’m sittin’ here reading along lalala, so immersed because something VITAL was fixin to happen. Then all the sudden BAM The End. Ugh! The plot was a little surprising, quite a bit exciting and a lot nail biting. I very much liked the multi-POV. Seeing her gorgeous men’s side of the story in this why choose, enemies-to-lovers romance…refreshing. Hannah does a wonderful job creating the scenery around us in a dystopian society. I’ve been reading fantasy nonstop that I’m so glad I paused (in the middle of a series no less! 😂) to read these paranormal genius words. There’s action, a strong FMC, a masked man, handsome wolf, creepy wolf with visions and a military academy. What more could you ask for? Y’all, if you like Briar Boleyn or Jaymin Eve, you’ll love Hannah Haze! 💖

I received an ARC of Bound by the Savage Moon from The Nerd Fam, and overall, I enjoyed it!
I really liked the concept of mages and shifters being mortal enemies and the complications that arise when our FMC, who has spent her life training to fight shifters, is unexpectedly bitten and claimed as a shifter’s mate. I also really enjoyed her character, the academy setting, the multiple POVs, and the beginnings of the why-choose romance.
This was definitely a slower read, and I felt like not a lot happened throughout the book. However, since this is the first book in the series, it felt very much like a foundation for the characters, relationships, and larger conflicts to come.
Overall, a solid start with an interesting premise.

Overall, I enjoyed this book, found there to be some unique aspects that intrigued me, and am definitely looking forward to the next installment in the series. That said, I felt the storyline and characters were somewhat underdeveloped, and I would have loved to see more depth particularly regarding the world-building and the romantic relationships that are beginning to form.
There’s plenty of potential here, and I’m excited to see how these characters and their relationships evolve as the series continues. I would still recommend this book and I trust Hannah Haze to deliver in the books to come.

The Mages vs the Shifters - long standing battles and obvious enemies. So what happens when one is compelled to help someone from the other side?
The battle magic with staff and magical sap from a blessed tree for teleporting was really cool.
Bonds are forming in the most unlikely of places and the feelings of impending doom bc of them obviously get in the way. Long standing vitriol bc of their placement in the war being pitted against each other leads to denial.....

Thank you to the Nerd Fam and the author for the eARC! Our FMC Elara gets bitten by a shifter, and basically her life is turned upside down. The multiple POVs kept the story engaging for me and I think it’s a big reason I kept reading! The mage aspect was intriguing so it’ll be nice to hopefully find out more about their history. While I had a good time with this book, I did find myself wishing for a bit more romance for a why choose. I really enjoy yearning and build up to a relationship so insta-love isn’t always my thing. I know it sets us up for the next book and I think it has so much potential so I’m excited to see where it goes!

This had a lot of potential to be a high fantasy romantasy but instead went with a more high drama romantasy vibe instead. I could see a younger 18 to 25 audience absolutely eating this drama up. If felt very tv show coded and I'm not mad about it and I say that because it was more of a surface level introduction into what's going on but its still developed enough to get the idea. I'm curious to see where this goes because I'm kinda invested in the drama that is these characters even if our fmc is kinda a witch with a b hahaha shes incredibly selfish but also in the world she loves in, I get it? Anywho!

I think this story has potential! But, there were too many set up scenes. The book starts immediately with a death of a close friend and a meeting with a rival, but after that it goes in circles a bit too much. Also, I don’t think you can call this a why choose book, because our FMC only has one real relationship and it doesn’t spark until the 80% mark. I think if the book cut out some of the scenes at the academy and dived into the different male POVs sooner I would’ve been able to enjoy it more.

I'm such a sucker for enemies to lovers, and this one definitely has that in spades. The FMC and LI1 (who we spend the most time with in this book) truly hate each other and are on opposing sides of the war between shifters and mages. I'm looking forward to getting more back story on this because they both seem pretty justified in their hate right now!
I like a slow burn why choose, but I do wish we got a couple more interactions between the other potential love interests and the FMC.
Overall this was a super quick read and a good time, and I definitely will be picking up the rest of the series!

This was a really fun read! The writing style is more YA, but the plot is interesting and the magic is unique, the character arcs are riveting.
I’m left with a lot of theories and questions that I’ll be looking forward to book 2 to answer. Rhydian and Elara’s growth feels natural and not forced.
It will be interesting to see how both react when they talk about their perspectives on who the aggressor is between shifters and mages, and I suspect we’ll discover some bad apples in the Dominion higher ups. And WHAT is the bad thing that happened 10 years ago??

The tropes for this book are everything I love. Fated mates, shifters, why choose, romantasy. However, the story felt sort of flat and one dimensional.

I enjoyed reading this book. I’m a huge fan of Hannah Haze. I read and devour everything she writes. This started out really well and drew me in. However it was a little slow moving for my liking in the middle of the book. I enjoyed the idea of a military academy and mages and shifters in the same story but the plot was just very slow moving for me. The cliffhanger at the end will definitely have me coming back for the next book in the series to see what happens.
