I had the privilege of being an ARC reader for this book, however this review is 100% my opinion. This is a Beautiful, Refreshing, Closed door romance. Filled with faith, family, forgiveness and intentionally choosing to be the best they can be in every moment. Caroline and Garrett reconnect after 10 years apart Hurt, misunderstanding and circumstances kept them apart and the journey bring them back together is messy, real and together. Garrett’s family is a family with faith as a priority. Caroline’s father is all about business and appearance and status. The middle was a little slow with lots of details in a few spots, however those parts were quite short and quickly picked back up and the last 1/3 definitely made up for any parts that seemed a little long. I sobbed the last 1/3 of the book. I’m not sure how I would have handled the situations but I feel like I was watching their story as a neighbor or a family friend. It was hard, challenging and beautiful and Lily Mae Winslow created something special in the characters in this story. I can’t wait to see how the rest unfolds in book two. Thank you Lily Mae Winslow for allowing me to take a trip to Remington Ridge and get to know the Remington’s!
I loved this story. Not because it was good. Because it was excellent. The characters always make the story for me, and these characters were exceptional . They weren’t always correct. But they were always right. This was powerful.
Caroline’s Promise explores the tension between family obligations and the quiet pull of a simple ranch life — and how love can survive even the deepest heartbreak.
Ten years ago, Caroline and Garrett were young, in love, and certain they would spend their lives together. They had their future mapped out, until tragedy struck. Garrett’s brother, Luke, passed away, and the entire family was swallowed by grief. While Caroline was away at boarding school, Garrett’s letters suddenly stopped. Even worse, her own letters began returning unopened, stamped return to sender. Caroline couldn’t understand why Garrett would shut her out so cruelly — but what if the truth wasn’t as simple as she believed?
A decade later, fate brings them back into each other’s lives. The spark that once connected them is still there, undeniable and immediate. As they begin to rebuild what they lost, the question looms: what really happened ten years ago, and can they move forward without understanding the past?
This book beautifully captures the simplicity and warmth of ranch life and the deep bonds that form within close‑knit families. As someone who grew up with a farm in the family, the setting brought a wave of nostalgia — the rhythms of daily work, the quiet beauty, the sense of belonging. I also appreciated how the story explores complicated family dynamics with honesty. It shows that blood alone doesn’t define family — actions do.
I cannot wait to see where the future books take these characters and this world.
* Second chance * Mutual pining * Teenage love rekindled * Small town romance * Ranch romance * Found family * Clean
This is a story of what happens when family interferes in a love story in the spirit of legacy. Caroline and Garrett meet again on his ranch after 10 years apart, and we soon find out that the cause was someone close to them. The reason? Legacy and worth…
What follows is an emotional journey - two people (and more) finding their way back to each other, cutting ties from those against them and reinforcing those that support. Moments of humour, sweetness and laughter, but it’s heartbreaking at times. When Caroline’s mother enters the picture, you realise just how many times this story is repeated throughout the generations, but this time, it appears that it might just turn out all right after all.
Now…. a mild warning for readers. You will end up in tears. Once I hit 80%, I wanted to pretend the story stopped there. It is devastating. I wanted to rage, but instead, it was written so well, that I just read through my tears. Well done author - an unexpected ending, but a beautiful story. The only thing I hope is that this is the end of this story, and book 2 moves on to a new couple. If this continues, I feel like it may cheapen the impact (and the relationship) from this.

It’s been a very long time since a book brought me to tears, but Caroline’s Promise absolutely did.
What starts as a heartfelt second-chance romance quickly becomes so much more—a story about love, family, forgiveness, and the lasting impact of choices made across generations. Caroline and Garrett’s journey is filled with longing, heartbreak, hope, and the kind of connection that never truly fades, even after years apart.
I loved the small-town ranch setting, the strong sense of family, and the emotional depth woven throughout the story. The characters felt real and relatable, with flaws, struggles, and growth that made me invested in every page. There were moments that made me smile, moments that made me ache, and moments that completely shattered me.
The final portion of the book hit me harder than I expected. I found myself reading through tears, unable to put it down because I needed to know how it would all unfold. The emotional payoff was powerful, unforgettable, and beautifully written.
If you enjoy clean romance, second-chance love stories, family drama, and books that make you feel every emotion right alongside the characters, this one is worth picking up. Just keep some tissues nearby—you may need them like I did.
This is a well written book. It is a sweet second chance romance actually for two couples. The relationship of the two main characters re-ignited quickly and there was forgiveness for the wrongs that kept them apart. I loved the Remington family and especially the mother and her faith. The faith of the others was not very clear. The further I got into the book I had a foreboding feeling that this story was NOT going to have a happy ending, though usually I only choose books with happy ending. There is heartbreak in this story along with many positive things.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
-An emotional second-chance romance where love is tested by family, legacy, and painful misunderstandings. I received a free copy and am voluntarily sharing my honest thoughts.
Caroline and Garrett’s journey is heartfelt, messy, and deeply moving, with faith and forgiveness at its core. The final stretch is absolutely devastating yet beautifully written, bringing real tears and powerful impact.
A gripping, small-town love story that lingers long after the last page—tender, intense, and unforgettable.
If you want to read a book that is an all-night reading affair that you won’t be able to put it down, then Caroline's Promise is that book. Lily wrote this book with compassion and conviction that had brought tears to my eyes. I found the storyline to be engaging, heartfelt and a wonderful book by an author I just found and really love her writing. There is nothing more I can tell you except you really do need to read this book. It is one fantastic story.
This book has an odd cadence to it. Almost every sentence is a different line, so it reads kind of staccato and punctuated. And for some parts of it, that was perfect but for the whole book, it really threw me off.
But I loved the characters and was invested to see what happened with them so I kept reading anyways. And I was absolutely GUTTED by the ending. It was beautiful but also absolutely heartbreaking.
5⭐️ read right here honestly deserves a higher rating! If you like small town vibes, childhood sweethearts, an emotional love story then this is the story for you. The writing is amazing, it keeps you drawn in and also has plot twists that keep you invested and needing more!

Such an amazing book! I loved watching Caroline and Garret navigate together thru challenges and their love for each other! And the end....I cried so much! Excited to start the next book and see what's next. If you love a good clean small town romance, this book is for you.
Caroline's Promise was a very good one! Found my face quite wet with tears as this one reminded me of losing my husband to cancer. No baby was involved in our loss, but we loved each other deeply and painfully as we had only five weeks from diagnosis to death. No fortune is involved in our lives, but the love we had/have has more worth than any amount of money.
