"It's human nature to glance over the fence and wonder what if...
Some people go through life without ever finding out what they're looking for, without ever knowing how
lucky they are."

 photo 39fbbaa9-621f-4ef1-896a-e18289ce7a9f_zpsj8peapri.jpg

Georgia Bristol had big dreams for her future but we plan and God laughs and so, her life didn't turn out like she thought it would; it's still a great life but she harbors some regrets and "what ifs."
She has a beautiful family, a stable marriage and wonderful friends but what about her dreams and goals?

How many of us imagined ourselves in an incredibly adventurous and fascinating journey through life? Remember those young years when you are about to graduate high school and are wide eyed, eager and ready to embark in a big life full of possibilities? But does it always turns out the way we hope? Do you ever dream about going back and changing things, saying or doing things differently? Sorry, that's a lot of questions, I know! But in fact, I think most of us think about what could have been so much, that it prevents us from really enjoying the lives we got.

I got married very young (21) and right away became a mother, now twelve years later I often wonder, who am I without my husband and kids, what else could I be or do if I wasn't somebody's mother or wife? Even on those hard days when life is going against me, I do (cringe) find myself daydreaming about being alone if only for a few hours where I didn't have to worry about somebody else's needs before mine. This beautiful story gave me that, an inside look into what my life could be and it also taught me a valuable lesson; which is, to stop every once in a while and admire the beauty around my life. We need to stop yearning for what never was and appreciate what is.

I swear I felt like this story was written about me and I know everyone who reads it will be able to relate to it. Georgia's journey became mine. Her doubts, fears and tears showed me a new perspective into my own life. This is a very simple yet powerful story.

I first became a fan of Nikki Mathis Thompson after reading her first book, Rebound. Her writing style has a lot of soul and a genuine quality to it and you feel as if a close friend is telling you her stories over coffee. She's very sweet and approachable and every person I have ever recommended her books to, always loves them, so I've collected a lot of brownie points with a lot of people in my life, thanks to her books. The Space Between felt like an homage to us women who put ourselves last in our list of priorities, so Thank You Nikki for inspiring me, for following your heart and sharing this amazing gift of a book with us and most of all ,thanks for the ride into the other side...

Every Nikki Mathis Thompson book comes with an awesome playlist and of course I stole my favorite tunes from her list, to put in mine and then added a few of my own, here's my music playlist for The Space Between:

*Dream by Pricilla Ann
*Why Georgia by John Mayer
*A Bad Dream by Keane
*Side by Travis
*Shake it Out by Florence + The Machine
*Save Me by Aimee Mann
*Masterpiece Jessie J

This book is a little more serious than my other books. I do feel like every person, man, woman, married, or single will relate to this story. We all struggle with finding our place in this world. It's hard not to wonder what if, and to look over the fence at the life that might have been.
Am I doing what I was meant to do?
Am I with the person I'm supposed to be with?
If I'd only done this differently.
These are all things we've asked our selves, it's human nature. That is the heart of this story. A woman trying to find her place, and herself.
I love this story. It has a little of everything--humor, heat, mystery, soul.
I hope you enjoy.

(It will be released mid-May. Pre-order link will be posted soon.)

I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I loved Ms Thompson's books Rebound and Resilient. She won me over heartily as a fan after those books. Her writing style is fun and real, and her stories always have some reality blended in to which I can relate.

The Space Between is a departure from her other books but a great story nonetheless. The story of the heroine Georgia's life is thought provoking and fulfilling, its emotional and captures your mind and heart.

I won't give any spoilers but I will say to read this book. There are parts of each one of us in Georgia. There isn't unnecessary filler and I loved every page I read.

Bravo again Ms. Thompson!! Can't wait to see more.

A huge thank you to Nikki Mathis Thompson for advancing me a free copy of her latest novel in exchange for my honest review.

Regrets. School? Marriage? Children? Job? We all have them don't we? What if I had done that, or done this? What do you do if you regret something you've done? Or something you didn't do? Would life have been better? Would you be happier?

"She loved her kids. She loved her husband...She had a pleasant life. But pleasant, as of late, left her feeling hollow and wanting."

I have to admit that "The Space Between" is not the kind of book I usually read. However, since I was given a free copy in exchange for my honest review, I dove right in. A simple story, it does reach out to you. How could it not? Who among us has never thought "what if?" The question is... is the "what if" a regret or just passing thought?

I couldn't help but feel for Georgia as she gave up her dream to become a mother and wife. A strong character, I loved how she took to her roles with genuine love and determination. Her husband, Nathan, is a loving husband and father who loves his life and has no regrets. While Georgia wants them to try new things, Nathan is happy living in their little town where all his friends and family are, and in the home they've made.

In the end, it's a well developed story about the choices we make and living with them in harmony. Though I found it to be an average read, I leave the decision up to you whether to read this novel or not as some of you may just end up loving it.

ARC for an honest review
Before I started to read this book, I had my doubts that it would be able to keep my interest. That all changed before I even got to the first chapter. This book not only held my attention, but so much so that I wasn't able to put it down and read it in 4 hours!
In The Space Between, we have Georgia going through life where she felt like she was ment to do more than just be a young mom and wife. Then she meets her fairy godmother and her life changes dramatically! I feel like this book was sent to me like Gwen was sent to Georgia. Nikki- you are my Gwen and I will never be able to thank you enough for that! This is one of those books that will give you a reality check but in the best of ways! I would recommend this book to anyone in need of a feel good, pick me up! Well done Nikki!!

The Space Between is aptly named and beautifully written by Nikki Mathis Thompson (who's Rebound/Resilient books are must reads-but I digress). Georgia is a loving wife & mother who, due to circumstances, had to put her aspirations aside. While living her life for her family and putting herself last, she has an experience that will enthrall the reader and make us all look at our own lives a little differently. What if....holds new meaning! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I am truly a fan of Nikki Thompson!! I've adored ALL her books thus far and hope there will be more to come! The Space Between was a great read! Nikki has the ability to write characters that are so relatable! It's like I could be sitting in a room listening to the story 1st hand. It's something I look for in authors/books! When I don't want to put it down that's always a good sign. Add this to your must read list and you won't be disappointed!

Once again Nikki hits the mark. This book spoke to me a bit more than her other books. Who hasn't sat endlessly and thought "What if". I know I have. Nikki so eloquently brings the conflicting sides of one woman to the pages of her book.

What would you do if you could change one thing in your past? What if you could take back one moment in time. This book actually made me hold my relationship a bit closer and revalue what I have!

I was generously gifted a copy of this book. What follows is my true and honest review.

Georgia is living a life she never would have chosen. She has regrets...But don't we all?

What if you had the chance to live the life you would have chosen? The life you planned for?

This is Georgia's story, and a fine story it is.

This books is so very different from the author's previous books. The humor may be gone, but the wonderful writing is still there. The character development, as always, is perfect. You feel Georgia's pain. You understand how she feels because we've all been there. The what if's, the what could have been's, we've all wondered. And we feel it and experience it because the author is just that good.

I loved this story. The characters were real and the story just so true!

3.5 stars for The Space Between

Ever wonder “What if?” What if I was late that one time…. What if I broke up with him sooner…. What if…. I’m sure we have all had these moments in our lives, more than once I’m sure. Would you really want to know what if? The Space Between by Nikki Mathis takes us on one woman’s journey where she has this question answered.

Young love, mistakes, family…Regrets, contentment, living. Georgia was a sweet young woman. Smart yet naive in some ways. I truly enjoyed learning about her, reading about everyday mistakes that “real” people make, seeing the love she has for those around her. We are with her through good times and bad and get a glimpse at her past….and her past.

The Space Between is a uniquely written story about figuring out what could have been. Is it what you really would have wanted? Join Georgia as she sees through her own eyes the way things might have been.

I have to say how much I loved this book. It was enlightening in so many ways. In the beginning I thought it was going into the direction of an affair waiting to happen, but it went a completely different direction. It was surprisingly uplifting and made me think in the characters shoes. I shared her regrets, her dreams and passions, and her thoughts of what 'could have been'. This story has a message to bring hope and a wake up call to so many. Thank you for a simple life story turned into an enlightening view of a fulfilled womans life.

A very unique and originally crafted story: "The Space Between" (2015) is authored by Nikki Mathis Thompson. The question of "what if?" is explored along with life options and possibilities, in this surprising blend of romance and women's fiction.

The story takes place in a small unnamed Texas farming town with a gas station and Dairy Queen. Georgia was the valedictorian of her high school graduating class, and very much in love with her steady guy Brady Carmichael, both were headed for a University education, Georgia on a full scholarship. Brady decided it would be best if they not continue such a serious relationship before heading off to college, when he ended their relationship Georgia was heartbroken. At a party one night, she found some solace and comfort with Nate Bristol, and the story took a strong dramatic turn when Georgia realized she was pregnant.

Most people these days consider the shot-gun wedding an event of yester-year, the times from the 1950's-1960's when pregnant women had few options outside of marriage or adoption. This story is how Georgia's life was altered by unexpected circumstances as were the lives of Brady Carmichael and Nate Bristol. Georgia found herself in a type of alternative reality after she ended up lost in a small town, and encountered Gwen, a seer, who gave her a special blend of tea that allowed her to examine her choices, and a future spin as to what may have been, or not. I thoroughly enjoyed highly creative and unforgettable story!

Nikki Mathis Thompson studied at the University of Texas at Dallas where she earned a business degree. A freelance writer, "The Space Between" is her fifth novel. She lives near Dallas, TX with her family.

ARC kindle provided by the author in exchange for an honest review!

I don't think there's a person out there that has never asked themselves.... what if? Everyone has at least one thing they regret or would possibly do over in their lives. You may not wish your life different, but I'm sure there are choices that you've made that you wonder if things would be different if you chosen a different path. As soon as I read the blurb for this book, I was pulled to read it. Because we all have insecurities, regrets, what ifs running in our brains and I KNEW this story would be real and relatable because of it. And let me tell you, I am glad that I signed up to read this ARC.
This is my first read by Nikki Mathis Thompson and I'll be reading a lot more from her in the future. With her writing, she made Georgia's life come alive so brilliantly that I felt like I was walking in her shoes. That her story was MY story. Because as I mentioned before, who doesn't a regret here and there and who hasn't ever asked themselves what if?! When I was reading the story, I found myself pausing on a few occasions wondering about my own what ifs! It was actually kinda great to take those little trips down memory lane!
Without giving you the actual plot away, I can tell you that the opportunity that Georgia is given to look back in her life and see if things would be better/worse had her choices been different is an enlightening lesson to all of us to hold dear to what you got because the grass on the other side is never as green!

I was given this book for an honest review.

So let me start with saying a big thank you to Nikki for another amazing book! I can never seem to get enough of her books. She has had me from the very first one.

Now let's see you have regrets, maybe wonder what your high school sweetheart is doing, what life could of been like with that person? But do you regret your life or do you just wonder what could of been? What would you do if you had the chance to go back and see it differently? Would you change it if you could? Would you want to?

Georgia she gave up everything to be with Nate and have a family. She gave up college and to be a nurse. She loves her family though unconditionally. She loses her way of saying how she's feeling.

Nate is a great husband who loves his wife. He loves the girls they have. He likes to spend time with his friends.

Georgia was given a chance to see things in a different manner than you would ever think. She learns things that she didn't know. She gets to appreciate more things. So Georgia is determined to learn to live again. She wants to be happy. She wants it all. She knows she has it all. She just needs to learn how to express herself again.

I have to say this book is so amazing. It's different from Nikki's other books but I loved it. 5 stars for sure. You won't regret this book. Highly recommend this one.

From the very first time I read one of Nikki Mathis Thompson's books, she instantly became one of my favorite authors. Her writing style sucks you in and has you feeling all kinds of emotions and laughter.

The Space Between is her latest book, I was one of the lucky ones to get an ARC.

From the minute you start reading, you feel a familiarity. Even though my story or your story isn't the same as Georgia's, as a woman we all got through "what if's" and "if only". This book is such an amazing exploration of a woman's character and feeling. Through Georgia's journey you see how life is a series of choices and our happiness is dependent not on others, but on our own perception and point of view on things. Sometimes past relationships or experiences can be clouded by a skewed perception of things and if given the chance to go back and change things, we would see the grass is not greener on the other side.

I wish there was a 10 star rating as this book deserves more than 5 stars. Thank you Nikki for writing an amazing woman's journey to discovery that makes you think of things differently.

Don't miss out on a beautifully written book that will keep you wanting more.

5 Super Stars!!

Oh, Nikki, you have done it again, I am in awe of your creativity and gift of words! The Space Between is a beautiful journey and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Georgia, the main character, is a mother of two whom still wonders what life would be like if she had a different path right after high school, and I must honestly say her story is highly relatable and endearing to any woman that chose motherhood over school or career. The story has an amazingly deep level of satisfaction that astonishes you and will keep you entertained from start to finish! Although the story is fictional, and had plenty of fun, love, and laughter, I personally related to this story all too well, it evoked high level emotions, had me looking back at times I wondered what-if, and also counting my blessings.

Thank you Nikki for writing such a beautiful story, I feel so personally connected to your characters, and I love escaping into the pages of your books!

Great book. No surprise, I have read all of Nikki's books, and enjoyed them all.

The characters were great, took a turn I wasn't expecting, but through and through, it was a great story.

If things like that can happen in real life, it would be great, also kind of scary. But for Georgia's sake, I'm so glad she was able to experience it. It put alot of worries to rest, and if anything it made a stronger bond with her husband. That is a plus.

Nate is an awesome guy, how can you not love him. He is so caring, understanding, loving, awesome father, and attentive.

Still kind of curious, if the other one is gay, are it was just a dream, haha. That is crazy. But regardless, he was a good guy as well.

Enjoyed the book, the story, the ending.

Title: The Space Between
Author: Nikki Mathis Thompson
Series or Standalone: Standalone
Rating: 5 Stars *****
Review:

***Received an ARC of this book from the author for an unbiased and honest review***

The Space Between is a New Adult Contemporary Romance following the life of heroine Georgia as she contemplates the road her life has taken and whether it’s the right one before she’s given the ultimate chance to go back and experience what could have been for herself.

This was a breath of fresh air read for me. A book that after finishing will stand the test of time and is hands down probably one of the best reads of 2015.

I think that every person at some point questions the path that they’re on in their life. Whether they’re where they would have been if just one circumstance had been different and if the grass is greener on the other side and this story takes that idea and expands on it, giving the lead character in Georgia the chance to see how things would have been if the event that took place in her late teens hadn’t happened and she had just gone on with the original plan she had for her life.

You’re taken through her life in the current timeline, with brief glimpses back at what got her to where she is and the choices she made that brought her there and again, it was completely identifiable. Her life in a lot of ways I would venture to say mirrors a lot of women’s lives and it was nice to be able to connect that way to her and her day to day life. Her motivations, and the way that she thought, it endeared me to her pretty much right from the beginning.

When she walks into the store and meets Gwen and she’s given this chance (unbeknownst to her at the time), to be able to almost walk into an alternate version of her life and see the way things would have been had she gone with the original path she had written for herself, I especially enjoyed seeing the lightbulb as it were go off above her head. The events and things she had been taking for granted because she felt as though there was something she was missing out on, putting everyone else above herself, she was able to face here and realize that it wasn’t quite as great as it appeared to be.

The lives of all the characters involved here were blown wide open while she was able to live this other life, and the more she learned and reacted, the more I enjoyed her even more. The way her husband turned out, her ex-boyfriend turned current boyfriend and the secret he had been holding onto for quite some time, it was all laced together perfectly and the way she responded, the way she was able to really take a look at the life she had left behind in order to see how the other half of her would have lived was brilliant.

Georgia grew over the course of these pages and I do believe I did as a reader being privy to what she faced. This story wasn’t just a romance, it was so much more. It was a series of lessons, the most important of which to appreciate the life that you’ve been given and to never take it for granted because it might just be exactly what you’ve been needing and wanting this whole time.

There were moments within the story that I felt there was information given that didn’t really need to be there, but not enough to deter away from what was ultimately being told. It was paced very evenly, each portion written with great care so that when all is said and done it read as realistically in a fictional world as it could have.

I haven’t had the pleasure of reading this author before, but after taking on this story and falling in love again right along with Georgia and her family and friends, I would venture to say that it won’t be my last walk with this author. The magical way in which she spun these words and this world she created is extraordinary and was a real pleasure to read.

For a while now I’ve been enjoying books, but the love I once had for them has been waning. With the walk that I took with Georgia and The Space Between, it’s like I’ve found love again. The real love of getting lost in a story and more than anything else, that’s what I’m taking away from this most because just like the main character found her way back to what mattered most, I did as well.

Fantastic read and I would definitely recommend this to any fan of reading, romance or not.

Georgia has her life all planned out, but unfortunately one night of alcohol and a sexy young man changes all those plans. Supported by her best friend, and that young man who is determined to make her life wonderful Georgia is forced to become an adult right after graduation from high school.

Nate has watched Georgia from afar for many years, knowing that she had her heart given to some one else. But, when Brady finally breaks off the relationship and Nate sees Georgia alone and sad, he vows to do everything he can to make her happy. As for Georgia she has no idea of Nate's desire.
When one thing leads to another and hormones take over things happen that connect Georgia and Nate forever. But, for Nate it is perfect, Georgia on the other hand spends years wondering about the what ifs.

This is a good book that will make you stop and reflect about your own life. More so if you have those what ifs or the thoughts of that one lost love. Sometimes we are forced to see what is right in front of us and then realize that we have spent to many years not appreciating what we have. For Georgia a chance encounter with an old woman allows her to see that the life she is supposed to have is the one that is right in front of her. This is a wonderful book that shows how even though you do not realize it you really do have a perfect life. I like the fact that it was a great read that was full of love, and humor. Georgia's best friend is amazing and completely supportive of all of her decisions.

Georgia grew up in a small town, where her dreams of going to medical school
were put on hold after one hot night of pleasure with Nate Bristol left
Georgia pregnant.

In the town where they grew up, there religion played a part of their
everyday lives and Nate did that honourable thing and proposed and marries
Georgia.

This is where life changes, pregnant fresh out of school, married and
staying in her home town, Georgia gives up her future of becoming the Dr she
always wanted to be.

Georgia chose the life to be a stay at home mum and raise her children in a
loving family home.

But Georgia always had the 'what if' thoughts in life. What if she didn't
sleep with Nate? What is she didn't get pregnant? What if she followed her
dreams and became a Dr?

What happens when you can live a life a see the 'what if' options and how
they would have played out? Would you wish you could trade in your life or
be grateful for what you have?

I'm very on the fence on this book, hence my 3.5 stars. I loved the idea of
the story line, I loved that I could connect with the whole 'what ifs' in
life and where our lives could have been if we had chosen a different part,
I really think a lot of woman will connect with this story. I however found
the book to be quite slow and struggled a lot to get into it, the last 20% I
didn't want to put it down and loved how it ended. I would have liked to see
an epilogue to finish the story off a bit more.

When I was given the opportunity to read this book as part of a blog tour, I thought it sounded like a good story. But it was so much more than a good story! Some books have a way of touching something inside you and stay with you. This is one of those.

I loved the main characters and was grabbed into this book from the beginning. Not wanting to give away any spoilers, I won't say too much about the story. Just reading the synopsis tells you that this is a special story about life and how one thing can change all of our carefully thought out plans. This well written story will reach out to so many of our emotions.

It is a truly unique storyline in the way the author presents it yet haven't we all wondered at times in our lives... what if?

This was the first book I've read by the author but her style of writing makes me want to read more of her books. I highly recommend The Space Between as an excellent book that you won't want to put down!

This was an ARC given to me as long as I give a honest review. I do not do any spoilers.

To be honest I didn't know what to think about this book. When I first started to read I was thinking how very sad I felt for Georgia. Her situation, her life, and her decisions. So, when I kept reading I was amazed how it turned. It was awesome how the story turned out. It was great. I have never read a book like this. It was GENIUS. I loved how Georgia finally came to terms about everything in her life. How it all came to be.
I love Georgia and Nate. I love their love story and I really loved reading how much and strong how the husband and wife loved their life and children.
This book was great. It shows no matter what happens in life there is ALWAYS a reason for it. Sometimes We have to believe in ourselves.
Good Book.

Nikki Mathis Thompson has been one of my favorite authors since I read her first book, Rebound. The woman knows how to pull me into anything she writes and force me to care about her characters. Her wit and humor are simply the best, bar none. The Space Between did nothing less than prove to me that Thompson can write anything. There were some twists and turns in this one that I did not see coming, and I consider myself reasonably good and predicting outcomes. She took a chance with this one, writing something a little different than what I’m used to from her. She hit it out of the park! I loved the story, the characters and the entire “feel” of this book. The Space Between is really unlike anything I’ve had the pleasure of reading, and I hope the author gives us more just like it! Read this book. Love this author. Get hooked on Nikki Mathis Thompson!

Who hasn't wondered what if? Who hasn't looked back at her past and thought, I wonder how things would have been if ... ? But if given the opportunity to actually see the other side, would we really find the grass that much greener? In The Space Between, Nikki Mathis Thompson takes us on a journey with Georgia Bristol, a young woman stuck in a no where town whose dreams and aspirations took a turn that she wasn't expecting, and when she's faced with an understanding of what might have been, it all gets put into perspective.

A compelling read that seamlessly allows you to feel like you are part of the story. Each page sucks you in further, and by the end, you'll be left with a deep and satisfying sigh.

Another great read by Nikki Thompson. What will she come up with next for us?

If you had the chance to rethink and redo parts of your life to take care of regrets would you? If you feel like you are lost and have a chance to find yourself, should you? Georgia is living her life, but has regrets because it hasn't turned out the way she planned it too. This is a touching story that is full of struggles and decisions that could lead to more pain or victory. I think that the characters are well written and not just one dimensional. I loved reading how Georgia needed to decide if the grass really was greener or if it was best left on the other side of the fence. I have not had the pleasure of reading anything from this author before this story, but I will certainly be looking for more. It is a story not just written to be read, but also felt.

A short summer read that doesn't suffer from the formulaic, predictable characters and plot that a lot books in this genre do. Have to admit, the author surprised me more than once (in a good way) with certain plot lines. I really connected with the main character, Georgia. Not too perfect and not too flawed = believable, and her "what if" reverie is one we've all had. I also loved the friendship and banter between her and her best friend. Also very real and made me laugh. Sweet read with a cool fantasy element that kept me quite engaged.

This story was different for me as it did have a little bit of fantasy-ish aspect to it, which is something I don't prefer, but the author did a tremendous job keeping the story true to life. We all wonder if the grass is greener on the other side and what our life would be like if we made a different choice. I could relate to the characters and felt like I was a part of the story. Great weekend read on the back porch!

I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

This was a book that I could relate to in many ways! This book resonates with women everywhere. The playlist is the playlist of my youth! Bonus points for including The Reason. That song holds a special place in my heart always. Nikki and I are musical soulmates. I will continue to read books by Nikki and I will always love and respect her as an author.
