Second-chance romance 🧡 Rivals to lovers to rivals to lovers 🍂 Small town romance 🍁 All the Fall vibes 🎃 Spice 🔥 First love 🧣
It was so cozy, filled with magic, autumn vibes and a small town you'll fall in love with!! I really enjoyed it, even though the beginning had me very frustrated..
Blair has been bringing the people of Moonbeam Hollow their perfect coffee with a dash a magic for years.. But now, her ex-boyfriend Luke is back in town and opening a bakery right next to her, a bakery that can make her lose her business. Soon after his arrival, strange things start happening around town, affecting the Fall Harvest Festival and she's determined to found out what's going on. Luke is helping and all the old feelings are rushing back, but can she and her sisters stop the magical mishaps and save the festival without reveling their powers..
I didn't really like Blair in the beginning, she was mean, rude and so distrusting towards Luke. She broke his heart and still he was nothing but kind to her and all she did was accuse him of sabotage and keep treating him like an enemy. I was so angry and frustrated with her, I almost dnfed the book because of it.. I also didn't like how she was with her sisters, but I do get why.. She had to be like a parent to them, so it was hard for her to be just a sister. But, she did get better, she learned how to be more trusting and more honest with the people she loved. I appreciated her growth. Luke was such a sweetheart, he was kind and understanding, I loved him so much. The way he was always there for the people he loved and how he accepted and loved Blair as she was, it was wonderful to see. I also loved Blair's sisters, they were so different, but so amazing. I didn't approve of some of the magical things the three of them did, but I get it.. Belinda is definitely my favourite, I too am obsessed with books and have migraines, so we're basically the same person.. I'm also really curious about Kass.
The second chance romances are always a hit or a miss for me and while this didn't have the most ideal beginning, I did love them together. They started as rivals to lovers and now twelve years later the tension between them is still there. I wish she wasn't so awful to him, but I did enjoyed their friends with benefits arrangement, it was hot. I also wish she was more honest, but those scene after both of the incidents were so good. The apple fritters were such a full circle moment too.
I adored the vibes, the magic, the mystery behind the town and all the strange things happening. I did see some of the things coming though, it was kind of obvious, but it was still fun.. As someone who loves books about witches, this was right up my alley. The vibes are the main reason I enjoyed this honestly and I'm very excited for more books in this world.
The ending has me so intrigued, I'll be counting down the days until the next book. I can't wait to read it!!
*Thank you to Netgalley and to Hodder & Stoughton for providing me with an ARC.*
thank you so much to hodder & stoughton for the earc in exchange for my honest review!
this was an ok read to properly start of the autumn season. despite the writing taking a little getting used to, i got through the book pretty quickly, and really enjoyed the vibes and atmosphere. i would say on the romance side that i wasn’t as invested as i would’ve liked. i just personally wasn’t feeling the chemistry between the 2. and i can’t really pin point on what it was that had me feeling this way, i guess it’s just one of those that when you’re not feeling it you’re sadly not feeling it. and i don’t think there’s anything wrong with that, as of course it’s all personal preference and you might picky this up and absolutely love them (which i of course hope you do!!). now what i enjoyed the most was the small town setting!! it was one of those where i could perfectly picture it in my head, and i love it when authors are able to do that. i also really enjoyed the relationship between blair and her sisters. having grown up raising her 2 younger siblings after their parents died i think you could see how much she struggled to acknowledge that they were now all grown up. and as much as they both appreciated blair raising them all these years, they also just wanted their sister to be just that! their sister 🥺 overall i would say this was fine, not something i’ll probably think about too much, but for what it was i enjoyed it, especially picking it up right at the start of september!! that i really do recommend.
This story shows influence from “Gilmore Girls”, “Practical Magic”, “Charmed” and “Anne of Green Gables” and the author is very straighforward and honest about it. But they’re just that, influences, vibes, atmosphere, something completely intangible, because the story is all that and completely different at the same time. It’s got its own identity and it’s quite original at the same time. To sum it up in a few words it’s a witchcore cosy romance that takes place in the few weeks before and in Halloween, the harvest in the fall.
Although there are some aspects of the story that don’t quite sit right with me, like how quickly Blair and Luke reconnect and reconcile less than halfway through the book. I had such a great time reading it and enjoyed the story as a whole so much that I was able to overlook those details.
I was particularly touched by the relationship between the three Briarwood sisters. Blair’s sacrifices for her younger sisters, for the promise she made to her mother, and for Luke’s future, and the fact that the author has more than rewarded her with all the happiness she deserves—I found that truly beautiful. Furthermore, Blair's vulnerability doesn't clash with her inner strength, and these two aspects of her personality mesh very well with Luke, who supports and encourages her without overruling her or taking control of the situation like most men would. He lets her sort out the problems while he offers his unconditional help and understanding love. Luke is a golden retriever in disguise, but he's much more than that. He's her perfect match in more ways than one.
The story begins when Luke Caldwell returns to the small Canadian town of Moonbeam Hollow after twelve years. He was Blair Briarwood’s first and only love, as well as her biggest academic rival in high school. As graduation approaches, the mother of the three Briarwood sisters dies after an illness, but not before making her eldest daughter promise to protect her younger sisters. Blair decides to break up with Luke so he can go off to college to study architecture, but now he’s building a bakery right next to Blair’s café. At the same time, strange phenomena begin to occur in town. Blair will have to deal with Luke, take charge of the situation, and, together with he
The Harvest Moon Café is a new cozy paranormal romance from one of my favorite authors, writing under a pseudonym. The story centers on Blair, a witch, who runs her coffee shop in a small town. Blair’s life gets turned upside-down her childhood rival turned boyfriend, whom she hasn’t seen in twelve years, turns up to open a bakery for his mom. In addition, magical mischief seems to be plague the town, preventing the annual fair.
On paper, the story checks all of my boxes. However, the more I read the story, I realized that I did not like Blair. She is bitter ALL OF THE TIME. She blames Luke for all of her problems and won’t listen to his rational conversations. She only sees and hears what she wants. She is overly competitive in a belligerent, ugly way. Additionally, Blair feels like her sisters don’t appreciate her. She sacrificed a lot when she took custody of her sisters after their mom died. She’s happy with her life, but knows it could have been a lot different.
I just couldn’t get past my annoyance with Blair in order to see where the story would take me.
DNF at 15% Sadly this one was not for me. I love the second chance trope and with the beginning of September approaching, I was ready to deep dive into an autumn-romance; so I was really excited for this one! However, I could not get past the writing style ; specially the use of short , repetitive sentences. I was also struggling with the dynamic between the MCs. In only 15% , Blair had already accused Luke of pretty serious “pranks” on her cafe with no evidence whatsoever; which felt very childish to me. Specially because we already know Blair was the one that broke Luke’s heart back in the day. After 15% I was more annoyed than entertained ; and didn’t really see how the rest of the book would change that.
Thank you to Midnight Books and NetGalley for the chance to read this ARC.
A charming, small town Ontario Fall romance involving three witchy sisters, a mysteriously vengeful witch and the one who got away. I loved this departure and new venture into paranormal romance from fav author Farah Heron! This first in a new series is a second chance, no strings romance between former high school flames turned business rivals. Together they are the key to saving the town's Fall Festival and unlocking family secrets. Good on audio and perfect for fans of authors like Erin Sterling. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital copy in exchange for my honest review.
If you’re a lover of cozy, magical, small towns and autumn vibes then you’ll absolutely love this one.
Blair is a witch living in secret brewing up the small town’s favourite drinks with a drop of magic in them. Now her ex is back and opening a bakery right next to hers, all the feelings she had for him come rushing back along with anger and a determination to beat him.
When Luke steps back in to town strange things begin to happen that affect the towns harvest festival. Blair and her sisters are determined to figure what magic is behind it all before the festival and its people are badly hurt.
Watching them uncover what’s going on has been so fun. We get to see the sisters work together and see their connection build even more. We see the love these sisters have for this lovely town and along the way, the strengthening of Luke and Blair’s friendship after many years apart. It’s been so good to see.
Blair and Luke and both lovely characters, they both have their past hurts and secrets their keeping but when they’re together they feel so at peace and I loved that so much.
I loved this town, I loved its people and I loved how they overcome things that are thrown in their part.
That ending though, well that just excited me, I need that book asap.
This is the first time I’ve read from this author and I’m already excited to read more. I loved the way the story played out, how easily the words were flowing on the page and the way the characters were brought to life through the words.
This was like a cheesy hallmark movie in book form. I think I would’ve watched the movie but it just didn’t work for me in book form.
The writing took some getting used - it’s like the author didn’t want to used pronouns so it felt a little repetitive.
I enjoyed the set up of Moonbeam Hollow because I love small town settings. All the other small business in town sounded so cute and it was a fun cast of side characters.
I just really could not get behind the romance between Blair and Luke. I liked the second chance trope but I didn’t feel the chemistry between them. Blair especially felt really childish with the way she kept accusing Luke of property destruction when he’d only been described as someone who likes fun pranks. A lot of their relationship issues could’ve been solved by just communicating with each other. To me, the paranormal world was not well developed enough for their reasoning to make any sense so their cycles of not communicating ended up feeling repetitive and there wasn’t enough character growth for me.
The plot had its fun moments and kept reading because I wanted to see how it was going to get resolved but it took some very weird and also some predictable turns.
Overall, I don’t think this book was for me, and I don’t think I will continue with the next book on this series.
Thank you to Midnight Books and NetGalley for the eARC.
A cosy romance set in a small town in Canada. Second-chance romance with a bit of an enemies to lovers trope.
I liked the cosy setting of the story, but I didn't warm to Blair for most of the novel. She's a very overbearing older sister to her two adult siblings. She also accused Luke of trying to steal her business, but also made him responsible for the strange happenings around town just because they coincided with his returned to town.
The plot of the novel was very predictable, I don't mind that in a cosy romance at all. I didn't like the writing though, it was a bit too simplistic, too heavy on the happy coincidences, and repetitive.
The set-up for the second book in the series was well done and intriguing enough that I am willing to return to Moonbeam Hollow.
If you’re looking for a cosy, witchy romance with all the autumn vibes, a second-chance love story and just the right amount of magic, The Harvest Moon Café is such a fun seasonal read!
Blair Briarwood has her hands full running her cosy café in Moonbeam Hollow, looking after her younger sisters, Belinda and Bianca, and keeping their family’s witchy secret under wraps. The last thing she needs is her first love and former high school rival, Luke Caldwell, returning to town and opening a rival café right next door! With their competitive history, undeniable chemistry and plenty of unresolved feelings, Blair and Luke had me rooting for them while wondering how long they could keep pretending there was nothing between them.
I loved the combination of small-town charm, autumnal atmosphere and magical mystery, especially with strange happenings threatening the beloved Fall Harvest Festival. There’s so much to enjoy here, from the sibling bond between the Briarwood sisters to the tension and sparks between Blair and Luke. The story has that cosy, comforting feel that makes you want to curl up with a pumpkin spice latte and get lost in the pages.
Blair is fiercely protective of the people she loves, and seeing her navigate her responsibilities while trying to figure out what she really wants was an interesting part of the story. Luke brings a lovely balance to her stubbornness, and their second-chance romance delivers plenty of tension, banter and swoony moments. I also really enjoyed how the magical elements were woven into the small-town setting rather than taking away from the romance.
While a few parts felt a little predictable, and I would have loved even more time with some of the characters, this was still a really enjoyable read that delivered on the cosy autumn vibes. It’s the perfect pick for anyone who loves witchy romances, rival cafés, first loves and a little bit of magic mixed in with their spice!
If you love books that feel like autumn in a cup, definitely add this one to your TBR!
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing me with an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
I should start this review by admitting that I usually don't like second-chance romances. Typically the same problems are there that caused the breakup in the first place and it just means the couple is doomed.
However, this wasn't the case with this book. The romance actually works as there has been 12 years of growing up away from each other, which makes all the difference. The FMC also realises that honestly is absolutely needed and that makes a huge difference. So I ended up really enjoying the relationship - which was pretty damn spicy.
In terms of the storyline itself, it was fun but it did have some issues. The big bad threatening a festival after everything that happened to make it mad seemed like small potatoes (I absolutely would not have settled for something so small). While it is a cosy book so the stakes are going to be lower, it just felt a bit anticlimactic considering the dark history.
I also think Blair could have figured things out way quicker if she actually spoke to people. It was genuinely infuriating how little she trusted her sisters and how she talked herself out of being honest with Luke. There were moments where I genuinely wanted to shake her.
Despite that, I enjoyed the dynamic she had with her sisters and how their relationship changed throughout the book. I also enjoyed the overall reveal (even if it was pretty obvious from the start what was going to happen).
As there are three witch sisters in this book (yes, it has been done but I'm never mad at it), I'm excited to read more about these characters. The end of this book has a great cliffhanger ending and I can't wait to read the next story to see what happens.
This book is basically a cosy witchy romance with a lot of spice and I had a great time reading it.
(I was sent a Netgalley arc of this book to review)
The Harvest Moon Café is a cosy autumnal read about Blair Briarwood, a witch who runs a Café and tries to find out what's going on with her small town when things start to go awry just as her ex moves back into town. I liked The Harvest Moon Café and loved the setting of it.
Moonbeam Hollow is such a cosy and atmospheric town and I loved reading about it. The descriptions of the places in it really added so much character to the setting. Blair owns a Café where she makes magical drinks and I liked reading about Blair and her powers of brewing drinks that make you feel certain memories.
I liked reading about Blair and her sisters and how they each have different powers but I didn't feel as connected to them as characters. I felt similar about Luke, I thought he was okay but didn't feel much connection to him. I liked how he and Blair were previously in a relationship before and it was interesting to read about them meeting up again but at the same time their relationship didn't stand out much to me.
I did enjoy the storyline and was intrigued by it. I liked reading about the sisters trying to figure out what was going on with the town on the lead up to the annual harvest festival but I also felt some parts were a bit predictable.
Overall I did enjoy The Harvest Moon Café especially the atmosphere and the descriptions of the town and the sisters magical abilities. I wasn't connected to the characters or invested much in the romance but I did like the overall storyline and was intrigued by the plot. If you're looking for a cosy autumn read similar to Rewitched, I think you'll enjoy The Harvest Moon Café.
I enjoyed Blair’s character more as the book wore on. Initially, she seemed overly defensive, and I didn’t particularly like her attitude towards Luke, especially as she was the one who’d initially broken off their previous relationship. However, as the story progressed and I appreciated just how devastating it was for her to lose her parents at such a crucial time, I grew to respect her choices and warmed to her more. This is important, as she is the hub around which all the action is generated.
That said, I thought the relationship between the three sisters was particularly well handled. I get a little fed up when books featuring sisters are too saccharine and they all seem to happily rub along together with no friction whatsoever. In reality, I’ve yet to meet sisters to whom this happens. Sure, you don’t want them battling and squabbling every minute of the day, but three feisty, intelligent young women living together are bound to create some sparks, and this is the case in this particular story.
As regards the mystery, to be honest, I just let it unfold in its own time. I enjoyed the setting – the small town dynamic was well portrayed and I could visualise the backdrop. I believed in the characters and therefore I trusted the author sufficiently to let the story roll forward. I was not looking for a book to be overly challenging when I picked this one up, and it absolutely delivered what I required. This one finished on something of a cliff-hanger and I will be looking forward to reading the next in the series. While I obtained an arc of The Harvest Moon Café from the publisher via Netgalley, the opinions I have expressed are unbiased and my own. 8/10
Thank you to Hodder & Stoughton for the review copy in exchange for an honest review. This does not change my opinion in anyway.
TW/CW Mentioned Death of a Parent
We meet Blair in her cafe when she realizes that the store next door is going to become a bakery. Even worse, they are going to serve coffee? The nail in their coffin? The store is owned by highschool sweetheart, Luke Caldwell.
When I started reading this book, the writing felt very forced. It didn't flow. This got better throughout the book but it was the first thing that struck me.
Blair is an okay character to follow. While she is end twenty she feels juvenile in places while she was the one taking care of her younger sister from 18 years of age. So I felt she was being written a bit too young/dramatic really. She is also suppose to be super smart. I couldn't see where? I was more drawn to the village and the side characters. It is a cute little town that wants to help out wherever they can when it comes down to it.
The romance is a second chance romance. Luke was Blairs highschool sweetheart. She broke up with him because she didn't want him to discover she was a witch and that she had to take care of her sisters. So when he comes back, it is odd to see that she is being kind of mean to him. Maybe that is her defense mechanism for her own feelings, but the man did nothing wrong. So I was mightily confused. Then she jumps towards some friends with benefits thing with him that could have used a little more lead up, and I'm still confused. After that the romance is fine.
In the mean time the plot is taking off around her, without her. She is trying very hard to figure out what is going on in her town when I could have already told her what was going on after two very obvious hints. Luckily she has two sisters who, quite frankly seem a bit smarter than she is.
The book has its charming moments, mainly the town and Blair's sisters, but has some small issues as well.
This book wasn't particularly original. I wouldn't call it groundbreaking or genre-bending, either. Is that a problem for me? Yes and no.
On the one hand, predictability and sticking to the beaten track are typical characteristics of small-town romances with fantasy elements; to some extent, they even contribute to their coziness and warmth. On the other, individual elements of this story had the potential to be something bigger, better, more... and that leaves me slightly underwhelmed. Luke's origin story and the problematic history of Moonbeam Hollow deserved better development (especially the former; the revelation that he comes from a witch family seems to not bother or interest him at all), and the conflict with Hecate resolves a bit too fast and easily.
Fortunately, there's something to compensate for these shortcomings – the Briarwood sisters themselves. Charismatic, intriguing, and brave women are not only participants in the events but also actively create them, and in the slower moments, their reactions and witty commentary helped me keep my attention.
Overall, it’s a perfect little title for a lazy autumn evening with a hot cup of tea. While it wasn't perfect, the intriguing epilogue has me eagerly awaiting the sequel 😊
I’ve been loving the resurgence in cozy stories hitting shelves lately. Cozy mysteries have always had a place but I like seeing authors take other genres, like fantasy and horror, and crafting a cozy novel within the parameters of the genre. So, when I saw that Farah Heron, one of my favourite authors, was publishing a cozy fantasy under the name Farah Halliwell, I was excited and intrigued. The Harvest Moon Café, which is currently only available as an eBook, was a sweet (and somewhat spicy…in more ways than one) read with a magical mystery that kept me invested, even when the characters didn’t thrill me.
I went into this book with very high expectations. Very high. I love everything Heron writes and was sure she’d give me a cozy witchy novel I’d enjoy. While I loved the magic and the town, I was less than thrilled with Blair and Luke. They were both acting like idiots. I could see they were both good people, and I would love to hang out with them, and Blair’s sisters. But their choices? Beyond irritating. And, if I’m being totally honest, if this wasn’t by an author I loved, I probably would have DNFed it. I hated how Blair immediately blamed Luke for all of the things going wrong in town with zero evidence. Luke just kept smirking away and had some sort of secret he seemed to be keeping for no reason whatsoever. And he refused to see why Blair would be worried about a bakery (with a coffee maker!) moving in next door to her café. Read the room, my dude.
I tried to put my feelings about the main characters aside and focused on the calamities that were befalling Moonbeam Hollow. Calamities that seemed to be magical in nature. Of course. I really did like how Halliwell wove magic into the story. She also made sure to include witch history, which I always love because a witch’s heritage means so much, given that magic is passed down through generations.
Every time something else happened to the town, my curiosity at the cause grew. Even though I was slightly delighted by the idea that tons of cats would show up every time it rained. (And I’m not even a cat person because I’m so allergic!) The mystery surrounding the curse, and how it had to be broken, was really satisfying.
The Harvest Moon Café was, unfortunately, not a winner for me. I really wanted to love Farah Halliwell’s cozy fantasy debut but the characters just bothered me too much, even though I did enjoy the magical elements. I will still probably read the next in this witchy series because I do like the world Halliwell has created, and I hope that I’ll like the characters a little bit more.
*An egalley of this novel was provided by the publisher, Hodder & Stoughton, via NetGalley in exchange for review consideration. All opinions are honest and my own.*
I had so much fun reading this book! It was so lovely and captivating. I finished it in 2 days (and I’m a slow reader) I was so immersed in the story that I didn’t realise it was 3am 👀 If you love fall settings, witches and relatable characters (and some hot moments) you definitely should read this book right away! It is easily written but the story was so well made and the plot twists were really good too! At some points I regretted not being a witch myself and not being in the story too. 🧙♀️🪄✨
The book made me fall in love and believe in fate, second chances and that there is more in life that we know. I went through all emotions while reading it, happy to frustrated and sad to understand the characters choices even if it was painful. I even cried couple of times…
I’m so glad I read it and it will be one of my tops fall and witchy romance books recommendation (with some spice of course 🔥).
This book is a cosy, small town, autumnal witchy, second chance romance.
Blair and her sisters are witches and Blair skill is she can see past memories & feelings that were had when someone had a meal or a special memory and she crates drinks for people to highlight this from her cosy coffee shop.
When her high-school boyfriend Luke comes back into town opening his own bakery after 12 years she can't work out his angle especially as before they were together they were competitive regarding everything in high school.
If course they are now both in their 30s and that connection is still there between them making it really hard for Blair to treat Luke as an enemy. Add in all the mysterious runs of bad luck regarding the Harvest Festival and a mystery that might just reveal who Blair and her sisters really are.
Thank you NetGalley & Publisher for approving this ARC.
Cute and cozy small town coffee shop romance with witchy vibes, spells and a magic cat.....smashed it! And not forgetting the sprinkling of spice for good measure.
I can't say I was a fan of Blair in the beginning..she was actually starting to infuriate me with her competitiveness and attitude towards Luke returning to Moonbeam Hollow, especially after such a long time between them and her adamant he was there just to destroy her. Clearly I'm not a fan of that level of what felt like entitlement and brattiness 🙈😬...however I'm extremely happy to say she turned it around when she started being honest with herself and those around her. I definitely appreciated her personal growth!
Luke...such a cutie. This one ended on a cliffhanger...so if we are getting the other two sisters stories, this has set the tone and has introduced the town and its characters brilliantly.
A nice and light read, filled with magical pumpkin spice lattes and some witch and witch hunters history, perfect for the rainy autumn evenings. It gave Gilmore Girl and Sabrina vibes throughout.
Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced copy of this ahead of publication date.
I really enjoyed this one! A fall, cozy, witchy mystery with plenty going on and wonderful characters. Blair owns the Harvest Moon Cafè in Moonbeam Hollow. On the day her ex-boyfriend, Luke, returns to the town and starts renovating the shop next door to create a bakery, strange things start happening around town, all related to the upcoming Fall Festival. It takes Blair and her sisters digging deep into the town's history to discover the reason for the occurrences, while at the same time uncovering some deeply held secrets. A fun, fast read and, by the way it ended, there'll hopefully be a book 2 soon. Thanks to Netgalley, Hodder & Stoughton, and Farah Halliwell for the free ARC. All opinions are my own.
This just wasn’t the book for me. I found the writing too simplistic and the characters were not particularly likeable, especially Blair who is our main character. I know she’s supposed to be the older, overprotective sister but her parenting her adult sisters got boring after a while. The romance was ok - a second chance romance I actually believed. The overall plot regarding the strange happenings around town felt a bit repetitive and lots of convenient/predictable things happen. The set up for the next book in the epilogue was well done but I won’t continue the series. The autumnal vibes worked well but overall it’s not one I will remember or revisit.
Thank you to NetGalley and Midnight Books for access to this ARC.
Thank you NetGallery and to Hodder & Stroughton for gifting me with this ARC.
I love this! It was the perfect mix of cozy autumn vibes, magic and small town second chance romance.
It reminded me of Practical Magic and those who loved the book and or movie I think would love this book.
I loved the dynamic between the three sisters and the love they have for each other. I wish we could have seen more of their personalities in this book as little teasers for hopefully more books in this series?!
The underlying story of acceptance was beautifully written.
I would have loved to have seen more perspectives and heard from Luke through multiple POVs and maybe this can be explored in the future.
This book has made me thirsty for all of kinds of cafe lattes and authentic curries!
If it’s not set in a cafe I don’t want it. I throughly enjoyed this small town romance. It had everything sisterly bonds, reacquainted lovers and witches. What more could you ask for? The only thing that would have made this better would have been reading during the truly autumn months with the fallen leaves and chilly mornings but I couldn’t possibly wait any longer so reading it during a heatwave it had to be.
The book swept me right along. I felt like I was walking the flea market with Blair and Luke, tasting apple fritters and ice cream and I could practically smell the rain. And that ending? I think it’s possible the next book is going to be even better!
Such a cosy read for autumn. It had the whole cosy, small town setting that I love. W witches, cosy cafe’s and second chances.
While I really enjoyed it, some parts felt really anticlimactic for me, also kind of sussed luke out like half way through the book.
Blair was really hard to like for me. She was not meant but she could have been better and treated her sisters a little better but also with Luke as-well.
Still an enjoyable read and Perfect for autumn to get you in the mood. The ending had me wanting to know more, IMMEDIATELY! So can’t wait to see how that plays out.
What a wonderful cosy read. Im a huge fan of an autumn themed, small town enemies to Lovers book. This didn't disappoint it was hooked immediately and just couldn't put it down. Luke grew on me quicker than I thought even though I did suspect him to be the villain even after he proved it wasn't him.
Blair annoyed me but I also liked her character development and learning to give up the control when it came to her sisters.
I didn't fully see the twist coming but suspected something was up with Lukes mum, and loved hiw that turned out.
I now need the sisters story after reading the epilogue
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for letting me read this advanced copy
I had high hopes for this book as it has some of my favourite tropes, cozy autumnal witchy vibes with a second chance romance and strange magical mishaps but I really really struggled getting into it. I am not sure if it was the writing style or just the mood I was in but I struggled to finish it.
While Blair and Luke had chemistry which I enjoyed, and I liked how the second book was set up in the epilogue, overall I was disappointed that I didn’tt jell with this one.
🧡Second-chance romance 🍂Rivals to lovers to rivals to lovers 🍁Small town romance 🎃All the Fall vibes 🔥Spice 🧣First love
This is a nice autumnal read with witches, prophecy, rivals to lovers and second chance romance.
In the cosy, small town of Moonbeam Hollow there are strange goings on in the lead up to the town festival. As the story progresses we learn more about the town's history and we conclude in a way that perfectly ties into the next book.
The spice was done in a way that tied in with the plot and wasn't overdone. The family dynamic was lovely and the story was easy to follow along with.
A cosy small town where an evil spirit is causing havoc at the same time that a old school flame has come back to town. Cutsie romance, with a HEV and i did enjoy the ending and how everything wrapped up nicely
I sent the book to Kindle from Netgalley and the text formatting was terrible, it did make it harder to read, so not sure if that removed some of the enjoyment out of this book for me, or whether it was the third person style of voice.
