I bought this book when it originally came out and reading it again after all these years, it’s interesting to see the changes that the Warhammer 40,000 Orks went through from their first incarnation to what they have become in the current edition. This book is strictly a lore/background book, with no game rules or game stats for playing an Ork army. You’ll find explanations on Ork life with interesting tidbits that you won’t find in later Ork editions, such as Ork Stormboyz being youthful rebellious Orks (who sometimes shown interest in Khorne) who acted with discipline, Orks giving birth if they survive to old age (and not reproducing by spreading spores) and talk of Orks using Ogyrn and human mercenaries.
There is a lot of comic relief here, where the Orks don’t take themselves seriously, as opposed to the brutish versions of the current edition, though I’ll have to admit that the current Orks are still comical because of their simple might makes right antics, which they never changed. It was a good book with a mix of lore and short stories used to explain the Ork culture and mindset. “Ere we go.”
