Not a terrible first book but....

I'm not overly familiar with this author/YouTuber so I thought i would give this a try. It has the premise of an interesting story but it just didn't click with me. First off there were some major editing issues. "As his clip emptied, the click of the magazine...." magazine is the correct term, not clip, let alone using both. "A solid liquid".... um what? The author also takes a page from the last Ant Man movie and over uses the term quantum. Apparently you can just put the word quantum in front of anything and make it sound futuristic. There is a ton of made up terms/technology that makes sense, probably, in universe, but there was so much of it, it became really distracting from the story. There's a large cast of characters so it's kind of hard to remember who they all are since so many of them pop in for rare appearances. Two characters have very similar names and I almost forgot they were different people. The main story is interesting but it just takes too long to get through. At the 80% mark, the book ends and the remaining 20% is just setting up the next book. It's a very odd narrative choice. The book ends on a cliffhanger but I don't have enough interest to see what happens next.

I’ve followed the author’s YouTube channel for almost six years now. This was the first full-length paper novel I’ve read in nearly a decade. It starts slow but builds as it goes with most of the action starting halfway through. It was cool to read FilmComicsExplained’s novel although it isn’t exactly a literary masterpiece…
