♾️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Bloody hell!
Please someone help me and tell me how will I recover from this?!
It is very hard to form sentences and express my thoughts on Unravel Us! The last time I felt like this after finishing a book, it was when I’ve read Fourth Wing!
How someone is able to create a story this brilliant is completely beyond me!
Miss Hanna you have outdone yourself! I love all of your books but please don’t be mad at me if I say this one just became my favourite!

You can never be sure with a second book in a series. Well let me tell you this much: it was even better than book1!
I’ve been through every possible emotion during this book journey! I laughed, I cried, I was blushing, I was feeling hot and broke my heart. I’m sending my therapy bill to you Hanna K. Scaalez in the upcoming days!

Let’s talk about the characters first:
Ethalyn: oh how much she’s grown! She is not only managing her power much better and confidently but also being an absolute badass! She is not perfect of course as no one is. She is still doubting herself, but there is one thing she is absolutely certain, she would do anything for her little family!
Malakai: wow! What can I say about this absolute gorgeous man?! I really liked him in book1 but now… I must say he is a very strong contender for being THE absolute perfect book boyfriend! He was still cocky and savage (which btw I don’t mind at all) but also he loves Ethalyn with every fibre of his heart and he would sacrifice everything for her! He would burn down the world for her and what is that if not the best quality for a man?!
Their relationship was just absolute perfection!

The side characters? Don’t even make me start talking about them! My gosh they were just brilliant! This little family has been through a lot and they’ve come a long way since Ruin Me.
I loved the banter! I’ve never giggled so much in my life while reading a book!
Hanna knows very well how to build up her characters and give them personalities!
Lionel is my baby and he’s grown so much.
Ashley and Nate are adorable. And Eve… yeah she is still around…
We’ve also been introduced to some new characters (hello Jaden and demon daddy!)

The story?
Ah the pacing was perfect! There was never a dull moment. I could follow the story perfectly well. I didn’t feel like anything was missing. There was just enough action and world building.

The ending?
The ending! I feel so broken and emotionally disturbed (in the best way obviously). I still can’t believe Hanna just did that…
Everyone must read this book!

Giving 5 stars to this book just doesn’t feel enough! It was an infinite star read!
I’m in the biggest book hangover of the century!
Thank you for this experience Hanna! Please break my heart more often!

This book picks up right where Ruin Me ended, and you are immediately pulled back into the story.

It is easy to follow, the world is easy to understand, and the writing is beautiful.

I love how Hanna builds relationships between all the characters, and also between them as a group. The banter is on another level, because it is not just between two people, it is between the entire group. Everyone’s personalities shine through, and you end up falling in love with all of them.

This is a book that makes you feel everything. You will laugh, cry, giggle, and curl your toes.

I am already counting down until I can return to this world for book three. I have theories…

Firstly, I. Am. Floored. By. This. Book.
It is just perfection. ❤️

I am blown away by how perfect this book is, all of it. The characters, the action, the story and the romance ….. it is by far one of the most romantic books I’ve ever read.

Every interaction between Malakai and Ethalyn is pure poetry. Their chemistry is out of this world. I thought they were swoon- worthy in Ruin Me but watching their love just transcend everything .. it’s just so beautiful.

We see some new characters added in this book and even though some of them are a little shitty to our chaotic little family… they’re still wonderfully fleshed out and full of character.

Then there’s the misfit mayhem gang. How do I sum up how perfect they are. I love each individual character so so much. I didn’t think I’d like Eve and now I love her just as much as the others. I could read endlessly about their crazy little adventures and I would never ever get bored.

The story at 75% onwards truly had my heart in my throat. I was on the edge of my seat. My emotions were being put through the cheese grater.

Also …. Am I okay? No. Will I be? … Hanna… Will we be okay????????? I need answers!!!!!!!!

THIS BOOK. ALL OF THE STARS♾️. READ THIS SERIES!

I feel so incredibly lucky to have received an early copy of this book and I could not be more grateful.

I am so glad that I discovered Hanna’s books because she is now my favourite author and I will be reading everything she writes. The way Hanna creates an incredible world with the most amazing characters is just mesmerising.

Let me tell you, I will never forget this book. It’s taken a couple of days to write this review because every time I thought about this book, I would SOB.

I didn’t think this book would be able to top Ruin Me because that was a 6 star read for me but OH MY GOODNESS. I don’t want to give any spoilers but this book absolutely BROKE me. It was an emotional rollercoaster, one minute I was laughing and the next I was ugly crying.

Hanna’s world building and the characters she created had me feeling like I was part of the story. Not only are the main characters perfection… the side characters?! Absolutely incredible. I didn’t think it would be possible to love Malakai any more but boy was I wrong! And Ashley is the best side character I have ever read - this girl makes me LOL but she also has the biggest heart of gold.

The BANTER, found family, YEARNING, romance… I loved every single thing about this book and there is not a thing that I would change.

I am SO excited for the next book in this series but I am going to be so sad that it’s over.

THANK you Hanna - you’ve created a world where I can escape reality and just have the best time. Your talent is just incredible.

I will be recommending this book to everyone😍 READ IT!!

okay sooooooo i loved book 1, ruin me, but this book?!!!!!! how could this series get any better?!!!

hanna i love you so much i would burn the world down for YOU!! thank you so much for the opportunity to read this ARC. except now i need book 3…

i dont even know where to begin and im trying my best to be so vague because i could yap for ages about this book! unravel us felt even more nightmare inducing with the trek through the demon lands and them encountering the demons along the way😳the amount of times i audibly gasped or shuddered was insane but i LOVED this slight mix of horror!

the demon king, aka daddy demon, is one of those hate to love, love to hate, kind of characters altho i definitely hated him more than anything but hes just soooo fine😏idk the characters in unravel us, new and returning, were just even better!!

i dont think there was a single aspect of this book i couldve predicted. i cannot wait to talk to all my fellow feral raccoons about all the details of this book that i cant share without spoiling!!!

this is an ABSOLUTE must read!!! i beg you!!! ill buy it for you!!!!

Wait, what just happened? 😳 the ending snuck up on me and I didn’t see it coming, and as long as they’re in books - I love surprises!

I wanna give a big, massive thanks to the author Hanna K. Scaalez who let me read this as an early advance copy. This is my honest review and all thoughts are my own!

Unravel Us is book two in the Cindara Chronicles and the sequel to Ruin Me. It picks up nicely after Ruin Me ends, and launches us right into the next adventure!

Get ready for an action packed, banter-ful, beautiful love story. This love story isn’t just between our favorite couple - it’s between and within all the characters.

This is darker than the previous book, it feels even more alive, real and some very huge obstacles are hurdled… and not hurdled.

This is a classical and great type of a second book - it filled my needs, surprised me, made me tear up, giggle and snort. And the ending? I knew it was something with…

👀 did you really think I was gonna spoil it?! Nope, you gotta read it yourself!!

I’m VERY much looking forward to book three and the last installment of the Cindara Chronicles 😍

English below :

5 ⭐ 2 🌶️

Bonne lecture!

I was beyond grateful when Hanna chose me to be an ARC reader for Ruin Me. Now, I've had the pleasure of being an ARC reader for the second book of the series, Unravel Me.

While Ruin Me gave me an introduction to an amazing set of characters, Unravel Me confirmed my love for the majority of them. With this story, the drama definitely levels up, but the constant banter between characters is what keeps the balance, which is exactly what made this reading journey so exciting.

I love how Ethalyn is gradually developing her fire-wielding skills, going from having no control unless provoked by Malakai to the point where she’s able to stand against the strongest. Malakai has proved on so many occasions why it is a matter of love and not just an obsession based on what he is. There were so many wonderful moments and quotes that I just had to re-read them. Aaaand the balance between dominance and submission with them was a definite bonus.

Even though some new characters were added, my absolute favorite is still my queen Ashley, aka firecracker. She cares so deeply and hurts on the inside, but on the outside, she’s just wild. She reminded me a little bit of myself, which is why I instantly clicked with her.

The end of the story left me absolutely shocked, and I cannot wait for book 3. I'm genuinely happy it comes out this year as well.

Thank you again for this wonderful story and the opportunity!

Ok, Where do I even begin? A second book in a series is very much a hit or miss for me. But Hanna, you very much did not miss!!

When we continue the story from the last one there is not a dull moment. There's so much banter not only from our main characters but the entire group and I am laughing out loud, giggling, snickering and humming to myself while reading!

Every character, main or side, has a personality. And every characters persomality gets to shine throughout the book! And I really love that Hanna has managed to do this in such a seemless way!

There's toe curling, heart pounding, breath holding moments that are SO good. I will not spoil but just you wait!

The world is just amazing and the people even more so!

If you haven't made it to read this series, just start with Ruin me and go on to this asap. You will not regret it, I promise!!

Thank you also for the gifted Arc of this book, I am leaving my review voluntary!

Unravel Us picks up right where the first book ended, and I was instantly pulled back into the story. The pacing kept me hooked from start to finish, balancing action, emotional moments, and plenty of banter that made me smile. ☺️

My favorite part of this series continues to be the found family dynamic. Every character has their own distinct personality, making the group feel so genuine and easy to love. The romance was just as captivating, with beautiful chemistry and heartfelt moments that had me completely invested. 💛

The ending definitely left me needing the next book as soon as possible! 🤭

Thank you so much to the author for the ARC. I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to read this early, and I’m leaving this review voluntarily. ✨

Another 5 star read from Hanna, picks up where we left off from book 1 and really doesnt let up on the action, the yearning (still), the fights were epic, Malakai was his usual arrogant demon self which Ethalyn secretly loves. Such an immersive world.
Everyone sacrifices something... and it hits and hurts hard.
I cannot wait for book 3 to see how it ends.

**edit** this book nearly destroyed me

Cruelty of a Cliffhanger

This seamlessly picks up from Ruin Me and it's straight into chaos as the team gear up once again. Despite the grief, loss, turmoil - they must keep moving. They may have amassed greater numbers they still faced massive adversity through the ranks but that doesn't deter them because the mission/goal is much bigger than all of them. It's the chance at a new world and Ethalyn will stop at nothing to fight for it. Loyalties will be tested, epic battles will take place as the realm experiences power struggles.

This novel is fast paced, the battles unravel so vividly, the banter lighthearted, the spice boiling. It's also refreshing freshing to see the development of the characters and their bonds throughout the book as they continue to face deadly opposition. The tone and thematic elements really help build and propel the story forward. This is something the author is highly skilled in when it comes to her dedication to the stories she writes. Unravel Us is masterfully written, immersive and detailed and chaotic in the best ways. Expect found family, sacrifice, fragile alliances, grief, heartbreak, self growth, forbidden love and unwavering loyalty. Be prepared for the swoon-worthy demon to nip at your heart once again in the amazing continuation of the Cindara Chronicles.

ARC review Unravel Us by @hannakscaalez

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶🌶

Unravel Us is book 2 in the Cindara Cronicles series and I had the honor of ARC reading it. After wanting more from the first book, I'm happy to say Hanna delivered and more!

I loved this book. The group of misfit soldiers turned friends are joined by three others in the quest of finding and killing the Demon King. They need to navigate the new group dynamic while also navigating and surviving the Demon Lands that are filled with temptation demons and shapeshifters amongst other nasty creatures.

The story was compelling and had a good combination of fast and slow pace. The banter and shameless flirting was top notch and I laughed on several occassions when reading the convos between the different characters. But there's also a lot of emotional moments revolving grief, anger, trust and fear.

Chapter 1 gave more backstory regarding Malakai and it was the perfect start to this book. And the last few chapters had me in tears, it was so well written and I felt it in my soul. But the final page came as a true surprise and with so many questions!! Like what did just happen?!? I need book 3 asap!!!

LECTURA ARC

ARC READ

I just love Ethalyn and Malakai’s story. They’re some of my favorite characters of the year.

What did I like about this book? Everything, starting with how much closer this group felt.
I really enjoyed this extra romance between other characters.

This book felt like it had more action, with characters who added so much to the story, and a lot, a lot of desire between the main characters.

I can’t wait to read the last book. I need to know what’s going to happen!!!!!!

LOVED THIS! I missed these characters and I was so happy to be back with them and their hilarious banter and deep loyalty. I felt every emotion I can think of while speed-reading this sequel, especially giggling out loud at the excellently-written found family these characters have developed and earned through everything they’ve been through. I adored Malakai in book 1 but here he was EVEN BETTER…even more vicious and cocky and smirky. Ethalyn got even more bada*ss and I loved seeing more of Ashley and Nate! But that ending…ma’ammmmmm, oof. Book 3 asap please!

Thank you to the author for the advanced reader copy, this review was given voluntarily.

Hanna wields tension and pain like an artist weilds a paintbrush, or a surgeon weilds a scalpel, with utter precision.

I always find the second books fall into middle territory, good, but not quite there, not quite as good, it always wants to be, but is just, isn’t. This did not fall into that category; in fact, it surpassed the first, in leaps and bounds, which is hard to do given I rated the first 5 stars.

Unravel Us takes everything that I loved about the first book, the Found Family, the characters, and the tension, and expands on it. She sprinkled some magic shit on this book because when i tell you I started and finished this book in hours, I’m not lying. I ate, drank and breathed this book. I devoured it.

UU excels in so many things, from it’s pacing, which is utterly great, we get soft, down moments, to fast-paced, everyone is in danger, and no one is safe moments. We get character development like i’ve never seen character development before. You know a good author when she has the ability to make you hate a character and is able to redeem that character. Yes, you heard that right, I may, or may not, no longer hate my most hated character.

When I say I laughed, like full on, laughed out loud, in a way, if I were not home alone, I’d be getting serious side eye, and cried, fat, ugly tears. I swooned so hard that I didn’t think I could swoon more, and then someone would go and say something else, and I would swoon some more.

Once again, the relationships in the book excel, and I’m not just talking about romantically, either, but the friendships that have been borne out of literal war are so beautiful. You can tell that they irritate the heck out of each other, and yet, they care; they’ll go to the ends of the earth for one another, and you can feel that. There’s such an unexpected friendship created in this book, and omg, I love it so much. I love them.

Malakai was a bit of an ass in the first book, and yet in this one, you can see the small hints of his humanity shining through; he’s slowly starting to let himself want things, and more importantly, he’s slowly starting to realise he’s worth these things as well. He’s worth happiness, and the way it’s done, and the way it’s handled, just these little things shown in the writing, is done so well that you can practically feel his growth. And he deserves it, i also much update my list because Malakai is now full on book boyfriend.

Once again, the side characters get their time as well, once again, my emotions went through the wringer. I wanted to throttle Lionel, and kiss him, and then throttle him some more, and there was this beautiful scene that happened between him and someone else that just made me so happy.

Nate, oh Nate, and Ashley, and yes, even Eve. These characters hold such a special place in my heart.

The action was another place where this just excelled, like you couldn’t relax when there was danger, because Hanna is not afraid of hurting her characters. And seeing Eve struggle with what she did, semi made me soften for her a little. As well as a lot of other things that happen throughout.

Ethalyn really comes into her own in this book as well. She struggles under the weight of leadership, doubts her abilities, and she’s just great, the way she handles things, you know shes flawed you know that she struggles, and it just makes her all the more real.

I was halfway through this book when I knew it was going to be a 5 star read, more than that, honestly. It’s not, it's infinity stars, I can’t say there is anything I would change about this - well, okay that’s a lie, but I can’t say without spoiling things. But even as much as I disliked it, I wouldn’t change it for the world because it works. It makes sense.

It is going to be very hard to top this book, but I do not doubt for one single second that Hanna can do it.

I'm not sure I can cope enough to write this review but I'm going to give it a try. Buckle up it's about to be a long one.

First of all, Hanna I've cried more in this book than I have during any book in such a long time.
Prologue: Cried
Middle: Cried
End: Sobbed
Acknowledgements: UGLY SOBBED

The story line of UU flowed so beautifully and smoothly. There was never a point that felt slow everything happened so point for point that it always left you wanting more but also fed you everything you didn't know you needed. The feelings that the characters felt were written in a way that made you feel like you yourself were feeling them. You were in the moments with everyone no matter how big or small the moment I was captivated by every scene, every word. I was able to picture everything perfectly in my mind, the world building was UNMATCHED!!

The characters grew so much during UU. Ethalyn is such a badass and she learned through this book how to embrace that more. While also leaning on not only her friends but Malakai to help her. She finally learned she wasn't alone. MALAKAI!!! GAHHHHHHHHHH!! That man puts every real man on this planet to shame. He's so strong and steady and loves Ethalyn in such a profound and unshakeable way that leaves you weak in the knees. Their banter and spice were kicked up a notch as well and dang did I eat that up!!! Ashley and Nate hold such a special place in my heart I loved how they both grew this book as well; they have both had such big losses and still open themselves up. Lionel shocked me this book. From RM I wasn't sure where he would stand with everything and the way Hanna wrote his story line was *chefs kiss*. EVE, mannnnnnn you know that an Author is BEYOND amazing when they can give you a character you HATE in book 1 and by book 2 you are rethinking everything. She grew on me, I hate to admit it but she did. We also got some new characters this book, Jaden you can't help but love him. He's funny and easy going and well I won't give anything away but I KNEW IT!!! You also get to meet The Demon King. I don't have anything nice to say here so I won't. I can't wait to see where each of these characters go in book 3!

Now let's talk about the ending...I. AM. BROKEN!! In the best way possible. The ending I had to read twice because I couldn't see through the tears. But at the same time, it was everything!! The love, the sadness, the feelings bled through the pages and right into me. I don't think I have ever had a story hit me so hard in the chest before. ABSOLUTE PERFECTION.

HANNA, I love you. This book was beyond anything I could have imagined, and I mean that in the best way possible. Thank you so much for this ARC.

⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ 3,5/5 Stars

Unravel Us picks up immediately after the events of Ruin Me, with Ethalyn and her crew struggling to process everything that happened at the end of the first book. Once they begin to make sense of the chaos, they set off through the demon realm in search of the Demon King's base—only to discover that he has plans of his own.

After falling in love with Ruin Me, I went into this sequel with very high expectations. While not all of those expectations were met, I still thoroughly enjoyed returning to this world and these characters.

One of the strongest aspects of the book continues to be the cast. I loved seeing the relationships within the group evolve and deepen, especially the found-family dynamic. Ashley's growth was one of my favorite parts of the story. Watching her confront her fears and become more confident felt rewarding and believable. Malakai was another standout for me. Seeing him transform from a fierce, seemingly emotionless warrior/lieutenant into someone fiercely loyal and protective of Ethalyn and those he cares about added a lot of heart to the story.

I also appreciated getting to know characters like Ashley and Nate on a deeper level through Ethalyn's perspective. The banter between the group was entertaining, and there were several moments that genuinely made me smile.

The pacing was generally good, but the middle section occasionally felt repetitive. Much of the story focuses on the group's journey through the demon realm, and at times it felt like they were moving forward without a clear destination. Some of the dialogue also felt a bit forced, and certain conversations or descriptions seemed repetitive. While the humor worked for me overall, there were moments where the constant commentary on the developing relationships became a little excessive.

That said, the final portion of the book absolutely delivered. The stakes become much higher, difficult choices have to be made, and several emotional moments hit hard. We also learn more about the demon lore and the larger conflict, which left me excited to see where the series goes next. And that ending? Let's just say I'm going to need the next book as soon as possible.

Overall, while I don't think Unravel Us quite captured the same level of intrigue and mystery that made Ruin Me so addictive, it still serves as a solid sequel that expands the world, strengthens the relationships between the characters, and sets up what promises to be an exciting continuation of the series.

Thank you to the author and BookFunnel for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I was prevliged to receive this ARC from the author and here is my honest spoiler free review.

First 5 🌟 isn't enough to give. This 2nd book in the series deserves every single star from across the infinite universe.

I sat a couple of days after I finished reading Unravel Us, not because I had no thoughts, but because I had too many thoughts and feelings because this book was god tiered masterpiece.

This review will not contain details or quotes as this book isn't slated to be released until mid-June.

I found I became so much more connected with all the previous characters and grew to love them each more, yes love, including Eve. The banter among the side characters had me howling. The banter between Ethalyn and Malakai had me dying a slow lust filled death that I could not get enough of.

New characters were introduced that naturally I was suspicious of, just like in my real life, but you have to read this to see if they are friend shaped or foe shaped.

Now to why this is a masterpiece and why I am in the middle of re-reading it. I am a sucker for an emotionally damaging read that has me ugly crying. I ugly cried not once, not twice, but 8 times, possibly 9, I lost count after 6. Hanna, your story telling and vivid descriptions of not only of the world, but of the characters had me in a chokehold. My heart SHATTERED and then shattered even more when I didn't think it was possible. As I write this I can still feel that lump in my throat and my eyes begin to burn and blur with tears.

If you are looking for a story of devotion, resilience, courage, fears, undying everlasting heartaching love, add this to your list of must reads.

As for villians. My goodness did you deliver the epitome of a villian that would make the devil fall to his knees in defeat and beg for mercy. I have NEVER loathed a villian so much and at the same time love him for how evil he is.

The 3rd and final book of this trilogy cannot come fast enough as the ending of Unravel Us had my jaw dropped wide open while my heart was still shattering. You have written some of the most beautiful and gut wrenching lines I have ever laid my wet eyes on and no visual movie, or show or picture book could ever interpret those words visually like they were in my mind and in my heart.

Well done Hanna and thank you for shattering my soul as I wait for it to be put back together, I hope, in book 3.

Well...where do I start!

One thing I love about Hanna's writing is the way she will completely pull the rug from under you without you seeing it coming. Her books are filled to the brim with drama, suspense, banter, passion and incredible story telling. Unravel Us is no exception.

From page 1, you are hooked. One thing I love about reading a well loved series is delving back into the world of my favourite characters and following as their journey continues and grows. Seeing already well established characters evolve and change further truly shows the talent of a good writer and a book worth reading.

It is so hard to truly review this book without spoilers! Ashley is the best friend of your dreams. Witty, loyal, funny and so raw emotionally you want to hug her every time she speaks. Nate is gorgeous! Lionel (a character I loathed in book 1) now has shown emotional growth and become a loveable favourite. And I hate Eve a bit less!
New characters are introduced in this book and help to move the story telling on to the point where you find them feeling like they were there all along.

Ethalyn and Malakai for me are an amazing mix of passion, banter, loyalty and obsession. I love the dynamic between them and how the characters are portrayed. The relationship feels real without being overdone!

And the ending....read it and you will see what I mean!

If you've not read this series, I strongly recommend it! It's such an easy read in the sense that you feel comforted, tortured and hooked from the offset.

Thank you so much to Hanna for giving me an ARC as part of her street team!

If I thought this volume would mark the end of the series, I was wrong from the very start.

We have Ethalyn, who has to keep her patrol team together following the latest events, both external and within the team itself.

Not only have there been hardships and suffering, but on top of that, the widespread presence of demons on the loose – Inuyasha-style but far creepier – certainly doesn’t help to clear her head!

As they try to make sense of the stalemate they find themselves in – following the severe decimation of their group and the disappearance of others – they happen, quite by chance, to come face to face with the now former Lieutenant Malakai, who, upon seeing the FMC, decides to submit to its will and, by extension, to the orders of the soldier within the team. More or less👀

Ever since they met, we sense a deep, if not intimate, tension between Malakai and Ethalyn, despite them being a Demon and a Fire Wilder respectively.

The tragic situation will not stop them from deepening their relationship; on the contrary, it will help them make better tactical decisions and foster greater understanding, both on the battlefield and in their private lives😉

It was the final part that reminded me a little of 'K-Pop Demon Hunters', leaving me with this feeling of emptiness the moment the inevitable sadly happened, and there’s no going back in any way...

Now I’m really curious to see what will happen in the next volume, because the latest developments didn’t exactly point to a happy ending😅

After finishing Unravel Us I had to sit and just process!

If I was already crying within the first 12 pages (just the prologue) I knew that my emotions were going to go through it while reading the rest of this book.

Hanna has a way of writing her characters that make them feel like they are your own family. That is so important to keep readers invested not only with the characters but also the story itself. She also dare I say it made me actually like one of the characters that I very much disliked at the end of Ruin Me 🫣

The banter in this book had me cackling at so many points while reading! And I ate that right up! You can tell that these characters are very much a found family with the way Hanna writes their conversations with each other. Including the new characters that we were introduced to this time. ❤️

Hanna I’m sending my therapy bill to you lol the emotional damage (in the best way) at the end of this book! 💔 Hanna how could you? The emotional rollercoaster that you go on while reading this book OMG but you know what that’s what makes the best books!!!

Please don’t make us wait too long for book 3 I cannot wait to find out what happens next with my Cindara family!

Giving this 5 stars is not enough!! This has become one of my favorite books! I will recommend this to everyone!

I feel so lucky to have been chosen as an ARC reader for this book! Thank you Hanna 🫶

Thank you to the publisher for giving me an eARC! **I’ll try and keep this spoiler free.

After really enjoying the first book, I was disappointed because Unravel Us lacked a lot of the intrigue of Ruin Me, which had suppressed powers, the dramatic transition from enemies to lovers, and hidden identities. Instead, 75% of this book just felt like a repetitive, continuous journey without a real destination. Even if Unravel Us didn’t have a lot going on, it’s still a series worth reading.

While the characters in Ruin Me were a real strength, it didn’t feel like they grew all that much. And any new characters didn’t feel fleshed out enough so they just felt expendable. It was very dialogue-heavy, which made it a mostly lighthearted and quick read, and satisfied my sarcastic sense of humor. That being said, the many, many comments (especially from Ashley) on the relationships brewing among the crew got annoying after awhile.

I promise I’m not trying to be negative because I did enjoy the book! I just think it suffered from “second book syndrome” where it was saving a lot of the good stuff for the last 25% and the next book in the series. The drama in the last 25% made up for a lot of the earlier parts of the book. Characters had to make difficult choices, and the ending was very surprising, so prepare to feel something emotionally! A lot more demon lore was dropped, so I’m excited to see how that comes into play in the rest of the series.

five star read. and now i have to suffer while waiting for the next book because that ending absolutely destroyed me.

i went into *Unravel Us* thinking it was a duet, so finding out there’s another book after *that* cliffhanger genuinely felt like emotional warfare. i was lucky enough to receive this as an ARC and i loved every second of it. there’s something about this series that feels strangely nostalgic, like summer nights and old memories and growing pains all wrapped into one story. it reminds me of simpler times in a way i can’t fully explain.

the high tension scenes are written incredibly well. the angst hurts in the best way possible and the emotional buildup never feels forced. but honestly, what makes this book stand out to me is everything in between those moments. the conversations, the quiet scenes, the joking around, the way the characters just exist together and feel human. their relationships feel lived in instead of overly dramatic all the time, which somehow makes the painful moments hit even harder.

i read most of this book while listening to Noah Kahan’s new album and somehow the vibes matched perfectly. that same bittersweet feeling of nostalgia, comfort, heartbreak, and wanting to hold onto something before it disappears. that’s exactly what this book felt like to me.

3.5/5

Thank you NetGalley and Victory Editing for an ARC of Unravel Us.

The story picks up almost immediately where book 1, Ruin Me, ends. The crew is doing their best to unite the two opposing forces against the demons (seems like an impossible task) while resolving their own internal volatile group dynamics. This is a decent sequel and I would say a better developed story in comparison. I can always appreciate a white-haired possessive demon MMC and our author puts in a lot of time crafting the found family element to the story.

A few areas that don't work as well for me: logical linear plot progression and the dialogue. With full understanding that we're working in a fantasy world here, I'm not quite grasping how we go from the newbie military squad to somewhat leading the whole operation? Why? Enough dots were not connected for me as the reader, and it just pulled me out of the story. On the dialogue end, and honestly this is just a personal preference thing, there is too much and it's trying too hard to be witty. The moments that made me laugh weren't the banter, it was Ashley creeping over to sleep on Ethalyn and drooling all over her hair. That was funny.

The series has potential, and fans of militaristic/dystopian magical societies (with a pinch of demons) may enjoy this one.

Cindara Chronicles…  Wow, wow, wow.  I ❤️ this series so much. Unravel us (book 2) is everything you need in a romantasy.  It’s a great sequel to Ruin me.

The story line continues exactly where it ended in the 1st book.  It took me a little while to get back into that realm vibe but, once pulled in, I just let the tale possess me.  Page after page I needed to know what the hell would go down next.  I was always happily surprised, never disappointed.

As our group of chaotic friends continues their journey, fighting 👹and other beasts, they are also fighting their inner self, and searching for their own truth.  Ever so endearing, we love to love them.  They are so funny🤣, and the banter between all of them is hilarious thus lighten up most situation.

The action is nonstop. Always something to fight, traverse or question.

The world building is insane, and every detail is meticulously defined.  The telling and vivid scenes that scrolled down on my Kindle pages were amazing…

It felt like I was there with my old friends, sharing the bloodlust, the love and the friendship.

Hanna K Scaalez’s writing is beautiful and flowing.  I find her amorous content a little poetic and that’s a talent on its own.  Bravo!👏

I am truly looking forward to the final chapter!😀
