This is my first book by this author, and what I would call a gentle flowing romance. This is a story about Johnny and Danielle that start as friend but flow in to more over time.

Johnny's life life changes overnight with the introduction of a teenage daughter, Melanie, whom he knew nothing about from a relationship as a nineteen year old that ended with his girlfriend at the time breaking up with him, not disclosing she was pregnant with his child.

Melanie's mother has passed away, and as Johnny is named on Melanie's birth certificate as the father, Johnny decides he wants to know his daughter and plans to gain custody. This is impacted by the maternal grandparents choosing to fight for custody of Melanie for nefarious reasons, plummeting Johnny into a custody battle for his daughter.

Johnny and Danielle meet through friends, forming a friendship that moves on to more, during the time Johnny is fighting for custody. While Johnny is clear in what he wants for his daughter, his communication with Danielle regarding their relationship and future is at times remiss, creating a few bumps in the road, while Danielle adds further bumps by trying to give Johnny and Melanie the space to be father and daughter.

Johnny is truly one of the good guys, does the right thing by his daughter. Danielle is the ultimate girlfriend, giving her partner the space and time she believes he needs with his daughter.

I enjoyed the pace of this book and the ending was on point.

I was fortunate enough to read book one in this series as an ARC, and so grateful to be considered by the author for this book as well. This came to me from the author via Book sirens.

This is only my second book by this author, and I love the writing style. I used to read a lot of Susan Mallory books, and this writer has a similar style. Theres a gentleness to the words, and nothing out of line. The characters are lovely, and well written, with a lot of compassion spread between them all. Sex scenes are played out discretely behind closed doors, and left entirely to the reader to imagine, because there's a story to tell here!
We meet Johnny , Noah's main man, and tech wizz in this book, and he meets Danielle, at girls night.
Our couple hit it off, but take things slowly, bearing in mind Johnny has a lot to deal with, and Danielle is doing her best to help him out. Starting out as friends, the relationship soon flourishes into more, and with a potentially nasty custody battle looming things become complicated. . ...but only for a hot minute.
Loved the story, and the characters, old and new, and now I can hardly wait for book 3 after reading the first two chapters.

The characters are wonderful and truly feel like real, supportive friends. The story is filled with kindness and warmth, and surprising plot twists make it a very exciting read.

I absolutely loved Johnny - he is such a wonderful, standout male! Watching him navigate everything life threw at him, especially how he immediately stepped up for Melanie the moment he discovered he was a father, was so moving. Seeing Danielle by his side to help him through the chaos of finding out he had a teenage daughter was just perfect.
This is a great story with a wonderful ending.

Johnny's and Danielle's story was a good read. I loved that the moment Johnny learned he had a daughter, he experienced a moment of shock but immediately went into preparation mode. This told me so much about the kind of man he is. The hits kept coming for this though. This is where his friends and Danielle really shone. They supported him every step of the way. Danielle was there as a friend, girlfriend, and lawyer. Although they occasionally hindered their own happiness, they refused to let the other go it alone. This book has all the feels. The plot was smooth with no unnecessary lags in its flow. The secondary characters also help by providing support, funny, and heartwarming moments. I'd highly recommend this book.

Book 2 of Broken Codes.

'In a town where everyone knows your business and one wrong move could cost a child her future, Johnny and Danielle must decide how much they’re willing to risk—for the truth, for family, and for a love that changes everything.'

The characters were very appealing and likeable and complicated and absolutely perfect together. Plot was intriguing and intense and well paced. World building was solidly drawn and impressive. All in all a great addition to the series. Enjoyed immensely and highly recommend.

Book two of "Broken Codes". Johnny and Danielle had just started a warm friendship when fate decides to interrupt. Johnny gets served with custody papers for a daughter he didn't even know existed. Apparently, a woman he dated at nineteen broke up with him and never mentioned she was pregnant. Her recent passing, has left Melanie in acustody dispute between the mother's wishes and her maternal grandparents' greed. Now that Johnny knows about his daughter - he's all in and Danielle goes out of her way to support him.

An excellent and riveting sequel to the first book. The characters are solid, likeable and great examples of what true friends are. The ranch setting and small town shows stable and hard working grit. Light romance and the unexpected daughter that Johnny did not know he had. Danielle is the thoughtful lawyer trying to stop an unwanted development from being built. A positive story with an uplifting ending that will lead to another great story.

This book was great!

Brought up all the feels. Even needing a tissue now and then.

Johnny is an amazing man that steps up to the responsibility he knew nothing about.

Danielle is the woman in his life that he didn’t realize he needed.

Melanie is the gift he didn’t know existed but he is ready to be the man she needs in her life.

This book has many unexpected turns but is so worth the read.

I, personally loved it!

Thank goodness I was able to read this book with few interruptions. I couldn't get over the kindness between Johnny and Danielle, as well as their friends. The writing was so smooth the words flowed easily from page to page, no arguments except the acidic conversation with Melanie's grandmother.
Another author to be added to my TBR?

This is a great book to read. The characters are well developed and you can't help but cheer them on to their potential HEA. The storyline will pull you in from the start and hold your attention to the end. I ended up reading late into the night since I didn't want to put it down. I recommend reading this book. Great!!.

I really liked this book and was the second one I’ve read and can’t wait for the next one.
Johnny is such a great guy! All the things he had going on and having Danielle there to help him. I loved how he stepped for Melanie after only just finding out about her and her being a teenager. This is a great read with a great ending.

Thank you to Jasper & BookSirens for an ARC in exchange for my thoughts!

This might be a me problem, but I didn’t connect with this one as much as the first. It felt a little too hallmark movie for me and wasn’t my favorite story line. However, it’s a super quick read at less than 300 pages and a cute closed door romance whenever you’re looking for that
