(3.5) This was a grumpy/sunshine-ish bodyguard romance. Savio was clearly smitten with Cashmere from the first day he met her and slowly chipped away at her guardedness over time. I enjoyed his flirtatious banter and how open he was about how much she affected him. It was also nice to see Cashmere eventually soften toward him because she was definitely a little mean in the beginning.

However, I did find the story less romance heavy than I anticipated. While their chemistry was there, I found myself craving more "on-page" emotional intimacy. They had some small moments, but I think seeing them date or Savio opening up about his background would have helped to build that.

The plot twist was unexpected though. From the synopsis, I knew something bad was coming, but I definitely didn’t expect it to play out the way it did. I really felt for Savio and Cashmere in that moment, which is why I wish the aftermath of “the event” hadn’t felt so rushed. I think if we had the opportunity to really process their grief/guilt on page it would have added more emotional depth to the story.

Overall, this was a decent story about moving past survival mode and allowing yourself to love and be loved, while also trying to balance those desires against family obligations.

Love wins all the time!!!

Past trauma that’s undressed should never be the reason for you to be mean for no reason. No child should ever be harmed under the care of your parents. If love presents itself don’t knock it or push it away. If you don’t love yourself, how can you say you love someone else. Always love yourself more than the next – Lets Chat.

Let me say off top that come mid read, I didn’t like Cashmere at all😔. See first off, my heart went out to her and her sister Ivoree. Like no one at no age should have to experience what they did. However, my girl Cash did her big one be providing for her little sister when she needed the most🫶🏽. As for when I didn’t care for her, it was when she starts doing good for self and Vee, however, her attitude was ugly😒. I get it was a defense mechanism but my god her attitude was not cute at all. Oh, but it was one person she didn’t expect that was able to change all of that – Savio🥰. The way this man shut her down had me laughing because what did she think. My girl had to get ready for the pressure and consistence that he was bringing to her. Despite the tragedy that occurred, I am so happy she was able to breathe and live in her soft girl era.

Ivoree, yeah I didn’t like her as an adult😒. She was a true example of a spoiled, entitled, delulu and jealous person😒. Don’t get me wrong, the trauma she experienced is not something anyone should experience, but to blame the only person that had your back through and through is diabolical to me😔. Then to feel that everything her sister had she should have too. Yes, something is off. Honestly, I knew it was something the way to lied and tried to tarnish Trizz name😒. Like girl, why are you lying and is you cool. I do wish it could have been a better outcome, but Karma is a mug and she plays no games or discriminate.

As for Trizz, my heart is heavy😔. My guy was done dirty in my opinion. He was just trying to stay on the straight and narrow with the assistance of Sav but there were other things in play.

Savio was definitely book bae🤭. His vibe and energy were it for me. He is a man that learns from his mistake and that bid taught him that. The other thing I loved about him is he always had a end game with now sitting comfortable on the straight and narrow🫶🏽. Though he didn’t need to work but boredom was not an option for him, so he was put on with my other fav Marcellus🥰. Ya boy wasn’t ready for his job assignment or was he – Cashmere. My girl was a different breed for him, but what I loved was that from first he knew what it was🥰. The way this man let it he know what it was from jump, the way he broke her down in the best way and the way he let her know she is not alone. Listen where these men at🤭. Now I did feel bad as he was placed in a situation that he had no control over and that outcome –🫣. My heart felt for him but being the man he is, he got through it. Not only did he get through the rough, but he was also able to love and be loved.

As always, Cyn didn’t disappoint at all, and this was an amazing read. The read will touch at all your emotions. When I say all, I mean just that – ALL. Now I will not say that I didn’t wish there was more on the ending regarding Sav POV on what he learned because I honestly would have loved to know. However, this doesn’t take way from how amazing the read was. Those that read, please know you will love Savio.

Don’t let me go!

Wowwwww! Cyn ain’t playing this year with the books!!! The storyline and plot twists were so good and jaw dropping I couldn’t stop reading. If get it out the mud was a person it’d be Cash or Sav. They saw and experienced a lot at young ages before they got a chance to grow up. They wanted to just live and have normalcy but were forced to survive and sacrifice for family and love early on. Once they meet they’re both in better places. Their hearts once guarded are held less captive by instincts until a threat Cash refuses to see rears its ugly head. The way this story had my stomach in knots after revelation was crazy work 😂 Keep your friends close and your enemies closer couldn’t be a more true saying for Cash. Behind jealousy and heartbreak she almost loses herself and her mind but is slowly reminded that she has so much to live for. She has to learn to live life for herself and choose her own happiness. Allow herself to be treated like the precious cargo that she is by the one person in the world fit to care for her and her heart. 10/10

Savio and Cashmere!!

Savio is just coming home from prison after five years and is need of a job. Cashmere is one of the bosses in the council in need of a head of security. When they saw each other for the first time, they couldn't keep their eyes off one another. Since Cashmere was feeling him, her default coping mechanism was to have a hard exterior, but Savio did not let that deter him. Eventually, the strong feelings could not be contained. I loved them as a couple because you could feel the love and passion between them. It was great to get an update on Marcellus and Cassydie. I'm hoping that rest of the council will get books too. I have to say when I first started reading this book, I had no idea it was going to end up where it did. It definitely took me through a roller coaster of emotions that I haven't recovered from yet. My heart still aches for Savio and Cashmere.

Whewwww Chile

Sometimes, when you are running toward a goal but running away from love at the same time, BAM, a brick wall, appears from nowhere. Not only does the wall slow you down, ...it also stops you dead in your tracks. You actually see what's been going on around you and what you never took the time to notice. Cyn captures all that in Precious Cargo. This book is absolutely a MUST read....If this book had a soundtrack, it would be Ruff Endz Someone to Love You on repeat!!

Well, that was definitely a wild and interesting ride. Was not expecting the plot twist but once it was slightly mentioned, I was like oh yeah oh yeah this is definitely going to make a big difference.

I understand Kashmir had to be hard, but I mean, do you have to be that hard? And SAV wasn’t taking no for an answer and I like that in him.

But that plot twist and the outcome from the plot twist that that’s what they get!

Thanks Cyn for the ARC!

wow!

The mind is a a tricky thing! Ivoree was delusional and suffered in silence for years. I enjoyed this ride but wished Twizz and Ivoree had a different story for what occurred; however, Ivoree went way too far! I loved the way Savio was with Cashmere and when the dust cleared how he was still willing to stand in the paint for her!

This was a good read.

Savio & Cashmere were good for one another. I love how Savio wanted to change his life after serving time. I didn’t care for Cashmere at all. She was an enabler.

Ivoree was a terrible person. That girl lied about everything. I hate what happened to Twizz.
