Sarah and Summer travel to the Maldives for one last adventure before leaving for university abroad, believing it will simply be a carefree farewell to their youth. But paradise becomes the setting for a meeting that will quietly alter the course of Summer’s life.
There, Summer meets Callum — a gentle dreamer living with a fragile heart. As his illness reminds him that life can be painfully short, Summer battles a different kind of a heart guarded by fear and unresolved trauma. What could have been the beginning of a great love story slowly suffocates beneath the weight of everything Summer cannot face.
Ten years later, Summer returns to Manhattan, not to reunite with Callum, but to say goodbye at his funeral.
And there, among grief and unfinished memories, she meets Cage — Callum’s older brother.
What begins as a painful reunion soon becomes something neither of them expects. As Summer and Cage are forced to confront the past they share, they discover that their lives have been intertwined far longer than either realized — and that healing old wounds may be the only way to finally find happiness.
Ok, I know, I might be a bit bias cause I literally wrote it, but... give it a try!! When I was 15 I wrote a short story called "Paixão de Lana" which roughly translates to "Lana's Passion". It was about a girl, following her dreams, moving to UK, while navigating through the hardships of life. Well... Lana walked so Summer could run! In the end, this book is a piece of my heart and was meant to be a long lasting piece of me in this world. In the end of the day, that's all that matters!
I had the chance to read an early copy of Echoes of Summer, and let me tell you: the emotional damage is real! The first ~30% really hooks you and hits you in the feels!
Then the 'hate-but-want-you' tension in the whole book between the main characters was exactly what I was craving!
Even though a more contemporary romance is not my usual choice, the pacing kept me hooked the whole way through. The chemistry between the FMC and MMC is definitely the highlight! If you love high-tension contemporary romance that pulls at your heartstrings, you’ll definitely want to check this one out!
