ohhh this little sweet n spicy novella was great! believe it or not, i don’t think I’ve ever read a baseball book in my life, but im definitely going to have to read this whole series! and THE DEDICATION!! omg, it made me cry: “For those living in a body that asks for extra care, you deserve a love that learns you, supports you, and never makes you feel like a burden.”
i feel this every day. im thankful to have someone who is patient with me and tries to understand me when my body is saying ‘NOPE, not today!’. the love and care that Andres gives to Jackson is what every person with a chronic illness deserves 🤍

so let’s do a little intro for our characters:

Jackson Baker is #22, the first baseman of the San Jose Coyotes. he also lives with type 1 diabetes, which is a daily struggle for him.

Andres Gonzalez is #16, the second baseman of the San Jose Coyotes. he’s Jackson’s best friend and caregiver.

these two are practically inseparable, to the point where they even share women in the beginning (heads up, there is a mfm scene!!) and their apartments are practically set up the same. it’s one of those situations where even their teammates are like, ‘JUST BE TOGETHER ALREADY’ 🤣 and together they will be, but not without some hesitation from Jackson due to his bigoted father’s voice that’s stuck inside his head.

speaking of Jack’s dad, i want to say that though it SUCKS for him, im glad there was a realistic portrayal of this in this novella. i love when friends, family members, etc have this big moment of ‘I was wrong’, but it doesn’t always happen that way in real life. sometimes, the awful people are truly just awful down to the core and it stays that way.

the book ends on a sweet and happy note, and chapter 15 is a great way to lead up to the next book! im excited to see what’s in store for Sean and Emiliano hehehe

I really enjoyed this novella! It was quick to read, while also being fun and hot! There's just something about a best friends to lovers story that hits differently and I always end up really enjoying them. I would have probably enjoyed a bit more yearning on page between Jackson and Andres, but I still very much enjoyed it as it was written. I loved how protective and possessive Andres was and how he didn't let Jackson minimize his diabetes. I felt like we got enough plot while also getting enough sweet and swoony moments between the two main characters.
I'm definitely excited to see where this series goes!

Read this novella if you enjoy sports romances focused on baseball, team mates falling in love, and let's not forget about best friends becoming lovers.

This was such a fun, spicy little read. Jackson and Andres have that best-friends-who-are-clearly-in-way-too-deep dynamic that I eat up, especially when they start realizing that sharing each other with anyone else isn’t exactly working anymore.

I really liked how much their friendship was already established. They’re each other’s person, they trust each other completely, and that makes the shift from “this is just something we’re experimenting with” to “wait, I actually want you” so satisfying.

And the chemistry? Yeah. Izzy Ravas knows what she’s doing there. 😭

I also have to mention Sean and Emiliano because apparently I cannot read a book without getting distracted by another pairing. That little glimpse of their dynamic had me SO curious, and now that their story is out, I already know I need to get to it.

Overall, Double Play was exactly the kind of quick, spicy, emotionally messy MM novella I wanted. Jackson and Andres were easy to root for, their friendship made the romance feel natural, and I flew through this one.

I came across this book on Instagram and couldn't stop thinking about it, so I borrowed it from Kindle Unlimited and then held on to it for a while and then finally I was just like I'm going to go ahead and read this even though it's not on my immediate TBR. This is the 3rd book in the series, but I was told I could read it as a standalone, so I did and I didn't feel like I was missing anything. I enjoyed this one and I do want to go back and read the first 2 books and continue on with the series. My biggest complaint about this one is that I wasn't emotionally invested in the story. It was too rushed. I did love the romance it was cute and spicy, and I loved the diabetic rep.

There is just something about best friends realizing they want more than friendship that gets me every single time, and Double Play absolutely delivered.

Jackson and Andres already had the kind of bond that most people spend a lifetime searching for. They trust each other completely, know each other better than anyone else, and are each other's first choice in every situation. Watching them finally stop pretending that what they had was just friendship and admit they wanted more was both sweet and incredibly satisfying.

One of my favorite aspects of this story was the exploration of their bisexuality. It felt natural and genuine, with both characters navigating their feelings while leaning on the person they trusted most. There was something really beautiful about seeing them discover new things about themselves while also discovering what they truly meant to each other.

Jackson completely stole my heart. The way he relied on Andres, especially with his diabetes care, added another layer of intimacy to their relationship that made their connection feel even deeper. Their trust wasn't just emotional, it was woven into every aspect of their lives.

Andres was equally lovable. His devotion to Jackson was obvious from the start, and watching him struggle with wanting more while trying to protect the friendship they already had created the perfect amount of tension. You could feel how important Jackson was to him in every interaction.

For a novella, this story packed a surprising amount of emotion into a short page count. The chemistry was there, the friendship was solid, and the transition from best friends to something more felt believable and rewarding. It was fun, heartfelt, and left me with a huge smile on my face.

If you love best friends to lovers, bisexual awakening stories, mutual pining, and two characters who are clearly each other's person from the very beginning, Double Play is definitely worth picking up.

Short, sweet, emotional, and exactly the kind of romance that reminds you why friends to lovers is such a beloved trope.

It's finally Jackson  and Andres  story 🙌 😍

I have been wanting to read about them since book one this series so amazing and perfectly written, in my opinion.


Why is Andres so freaking adorable when he always remembers to make sure Jackson glucose isn't low .

You can feel how much they both want each other more than just sex they are just afraid to admit and fear losing each other.  Andres takes such good care of him like Jackson deserves just as Jackson takes care of Andres in his own ways as well.

The friendship they had for years just makes it even better cause they know each other better than anyone does .

They have my heart so deeply I love them so much.

When Andres gets little possessive, it's so freaking hot .

My poor Jackson doesn't see his scars as flaws & they absolutely not .he is a beautiful man .

I love that  layla doesn't judge anything about  Jackson and Andres,  but I felt so bad for Jackson it was so hard for him to continue with the casual fun they have with women.

Andres would proudly tell his family that Jackson is all he needs n loves. But the problem is Jackson's dad. He is very homophobic.

I can relate to Jackson in that way and when the person who loves you says you are lovable you do deserve happiness ot can be hard believe that is true when certain people have told you otherwise .

We've seen peaks of Jackson and Andres in Strike Out and Curve Ball, and I've been SO excited to get to know them better. We know from previous books that they're best friends with benefits, who hook up with women together - and that's how Double Play starts out. Andres and Jackson are together and it's incredibly domestic: Jackson, a T1D is running low, and Andres is there to take care of him. You can FEEL the love between them, even if they aren't ready to admit it to each other yet. These are meant to be fun, quick, & dirty novellas - and they ARE - but this one especially gave me all the warm and fuzzies. As spicy as it is, you can still tell that these two are absolute soul mates and the emotion is so palpable... I cried happy tears during the last chapter over my favorite line: "The future doesn't feel like something I have to outrun anymore; it feels like something I'm allowed to build. With him. With a family, someday." 🥰

🖤 First of all, if you haven’t read the first 2 books in the series, go do that you will meet the goofiest and lovable characters that make up the friend group/team. Ok, now with that out of the way, the boys are waiting for you to dive into their book.

🖤 Izzy estoy obsesionada con estos dos! Andres and Jackson walked up, said “we’ve arrived”, and stole the spotlight. They are absolutely perfect! I loved them even from the glimpses of them that we saw in the first 2 books, especially in that car scene in Strike Out (IYKYK), but getting to see them be so in love and obsessed with each other, made me fall in love with them that much more. Andres is so attuned to Jackson’s needs and immediately gets him what he needs. I love how he has no problem being the hard ass and will call him out when he’s been ignoring the signs and alerts. And of course, besides all the sweet talk and the love, we get the SPICE!!! Omg and does Andre’s have a filthy mouth. Jackson, though, him begging was my kryptonite. Im a slut for a man that begs and whimpers, and god, he did just that! 🥵 Anyways, if you haven’t noticed by now, im absolutely obsessed with these two and you should read it so you can be obsessed with them too!!

Obsessed, Emotional, & So Very Cozy

Besties... If you're looking for a quick, feel-good MM sports romance that will leave you smiling, "Double Play" absolutely delivers.

Jackson and Andres have been best friends forever, and the love between them practically jumps off the page from the very beginning. 🥰 The problem? Neither of them knows how to actually say what they're feeling. The angst, the pining, the jealousy, and all those unspoken emotions had me completely invested. Watching them struggle with wanting more while pretending everything was fine was both sweet and frustrating in the best possible way.

One of my favorite parts was how Andres cared for Jackson. Jackson's Type 1 Diabetes representation felt meaningful, and seeing Andres know exactly how to help him added another layer of trust and devotion to their relationship.

Since this is a novella, the romance and chemistry move quickly... and NGL, I. LOVED. IT. The attraction is undeniable, the emotional connection is strong, and the spicy moments definitely bring the heat. 🥵 #MuyCaliente

Overall, this was such a cozy, heartwarming read filled with friendship, love, acceptance, and happiness. Love is love, and books like this remind me why I adore romance of all orientation. Add this one to your TBR if you want a story that leaves you with all the warm and fuzzy feelings. 🥰

Double Play was such a fun, quick read that packed a surprising amount of heart into a novella.

I'm always a sucker for a best friends-to-lovers romance, and Jackson and Andres absolutely delivered. Their connection is obvious from the very beginning, and watching years of friendship slowly turn into something more was both sweet and incredibly satisfying. Sure, I could have happily taken even more pining between them, but I was completely invested in their journey exactly as it was.

One of my favourite parts of the story was how attentive Andres was to Jackson. The Type 1 Diabetes representation felt meaningful, and I loved seeing how naturally Andres stepped in to support Jackson while also refusing to let him downplay his own needs. Their relationship felt built on genuine care, trust, and understanding, which made their romance even more swoon-worthy.

For a novella, this strikes a great balance between emotional connection, friendship, romance, and heat. The chemistry between these two is undeniable, but it's the friendship underneath it all that really made me fall for them.

I flew through this one and finished with a huge smile on my face. I'm definitely excited to see where the series goes next.

Izzy did it again. Like usual, obsessed and they will live rent free in my head. You know how to make us simp for some boys.. 🫠

Double Play is a hot MM novela that will melt your heart and have you fanning yourself all the way through. From besties to lovers, Andre and Jackson are perfection. When sharing females becomes to much Dre and Jack realize it was eachother all along.

I love how they loved each other with their whole freaking chest. It was a FAST BURN. There is no yearning or angst, the spice starts on page 7 and I loved every single second of it. They went from best friends with benefits to lovers real quick and they deserved it.

Dre’s love for Jack was so beautiful, making sure he was always taken care of with his diabetes and the aftercare 🥹 They truly do take care of each other in so many ways.

Also, I absolutely loved the family aspect of the team and their partners. They were more than a team, they were the best found family anyone could ask for. Protective and willing to go the extra mile no matter what. This is a must read.

As usual, Izzy gets me with the dirty Spanish talk. Dios Mio, si.. freakin’ si 🤣

5/5 stars. I've said it before, and I'll say it again - MF authors don't always work for me, but when they do, it looks something like this.
This was a beautiful love story that made me cry twice, and reminded me of the appeal of friends-to-lovers. But it was more than that. Something magical happened here. The MCs got together super early on, and I did not mind reading the rest (majority) of the book with them being an established couple. That has never happened before. They were so good together, my heart ached a little.

Note, I do have a bit of beef: 1. The spice disappeared after about 60% despite having 2-3 very good opportunities to include a scene like that. 2. They got married off-page before the last chapter! We got just a couple of mentions of them being fiances in one chapter, and then mentions of being husbands in the last chapter and that's it. It's such a shame! These didn't make the book feel rushed, per say, but it would've been so much better if we had a bit more spice and time with them as fiances-to-husbands on page. Hence why this is not a 6 star read - almost was though.

NTS: Strict on page, with a mention of switching. The dynamic is very clear, thankfully.

This was my first opportunity to read something by Izzy Ravas. She has been on my radar for a while so I was very happy to be able to join her ARC team starting with Double Play. This is such a sweet and beautiful love story. I was impressed by how quickly I was caught up in the emotions between Jackson and Andres. Their relationship status resolves fairly early in the story but I was already totally locked in. This is just a testament to Izzy’s writing, which is excellent.

And, oh my goodness, the love and care and devotion between these two men. I have no words. This is why best friends to lovers is one of my favorite themes. The emotions run so deep and they actually talk to each other honestly and communicate without playing games. They work through problems as team and put each other first. So hot. And Andres taking SUCH GOOD care of Jackson through his T1D struggles. He is a prefect partner and such a good man.

I loved this sweet little novella and cannot wait to read more from Izzy. 🤍

I just read the third in Izzy Ravas San Jose Coyotes series. Each book has been wonderful and Double Play is no different. Double Play is about two best friends Jackson and Dre. They do everything together from living across the hall from each other to.the ladies. However Jackson is beginning to hate their arrangement and just wants Dre but does Dre want him. Dre takes care of Jackson especially when it comes to his health. Jackson trusts Dre with his life but will he trust him with his heart.
These two are made for each other and you can feel that on every page. Izzy's books always get me in my feels and I wouldn't have it any other way. Double Play is one you have to read and root for Jackson and Dre to get their HEA. Double Play arrives on May 29 preorder your copy now and meet two more players from the Coyotes.

ARC Review

Had the privilege of reading the 3rd book in The San Jose Coyotes series early and of course it did not disappoint!

Jackson and Andres were swoon worthy! I loved how much care Dre put into Jackson’s Type 1 diabetes and how attuned he was to Jackson! It added another layer to their relationship outside of the spice that I really appreciated!

The spice and Spanish dirty talk: HOT 🥵
No wonder Jackson wanted Dre all to himself! 🙈 Everytime Dre called Jackson “Hermoso” I melted into putty 😭

Their relationship had me melting the whole time! It was short and sweet definitely left me wanting more!
Anything Izzy writes is top tier especially when it comes to MM!
I won’t spoil anything but I’m really hoping to see their ending play out in a future book! 🥺 Absolutely can’t wait for the next book in the series!

If you’re looking for a short and spicy baseball MM romance about two best friends falling hard for each other then look no further! 😏

Jackson and Andre’s are best friends with benefits. But also on occasion like to share woman.

Jackson is the first baseman of the San Jose coyotes he’s type 1 diabetic. He’s grown up with so many insecurities that he sometimes feel unworthy. But his biggest issue is falling in love with his best friend.

Andres is the second baseman of the San Jose coyotes also Jackson best friend care giver. Who happens to also be in love with his best friend.

This story is absolutely the sweetest.

The love Andres has for Jackson is so heartfelt. He loves him unconditionally. Even through fear , baseball you name it Andre’s with protect Jackson at all cost. Jackson learns to love himself and openly with Andres.

I love that we get to see the found family aspect as well can’t wait for book four!!

Izzy is literally a rockstar and hen it come to life writing you either swoon cry scream all of the above!

As good as an enemies to lovers story is something just hits different when it’s best friends to lovers it just gets me everytime and this was no different the love and care they have for each other right of the bat (haha see what I did there 😏) swooninggg Andres is so caring and protective of Jackson he’s so on top of his type 1 diabetes like he was the one to have it and not jackson. And let me tell you THE SPICE WAS ABSOLUTELY SPICY soooo hot Andres mouth absolutely yes! I don’t think there was a page I didn’t annotate in this book. Everything about this was great even for being just a short an sweet story the found family it has in it the chemistry and bond that Andres and Jackson have. You can just tell these 2 were meant to be the trust and how comfortable they are it I love their hea was just a fun time reading this and I can’t wait for the next one!

My goodness I loved these two. From the moment we met them fooling around in Strike Out I was like GIMME because whaddya mean they're BESTIES WITH BENNIES?! And then they have a MFM sammie and get too caught up in their feed? I was deceased.

I adored the way Andres took care of Jackson. He was so protective without being obnoxiously overbearing and it was so sweet.

While it makes me sad when there's homophobia and characters getting outed before they're ready, I thought Izzy did a good job with Jack's story and it really showed him how much Dre and the rest of his found family truly loved him unconditionally.

Really enjoyed this book.
What happens when a friend's with benefits and occasional third, turns into something more?

This was such a great read, the character development and the care and acceptance shown is so well written. The banter and friendships throughout really come across and the side characters from other books in this series are there for the journey.

One of the MMC is type 1 diabetic and the portrayal and daily struggles is so well done by the author, the compassion and care when dealing with this in the relationship is a thread throughout the story and I just really enjoyed this dynamic.
It's the first i've read from this author but I will now be consuming all of them.
Great read, great spice and some baseball. Brilliant.

Jackson and Dre were everything I expected them to be and more! The tension between them and the dirty talk 🥵🥵🥵 I love a possessive and overprotective man and Andres did not disappoint. The way he took care of Jackson to the point of knowing his needs before he even voiced it was so special. Jackson was always so worried about being a burden, and Dre was so gentle and reassured him all the time , making him feel like his number one priority even before they admitted their feelings to each other 🥹

This series has completely won my heart over and I can’t wait to get the other books 🥰

Izzy Ravas has done it yet again with this fabulous sinfully sweet, Smokey spicy novella. Double Play is book 3 in the excellent San Jose Coyotes Series. We get little nibbles of Andres and Jackson in the first two books. Getting their full story with all the deep emotional feels is everything. These two are the best of friends, know all parts of each others lives and share everything. I mean EVERYTHING. Going through their struggles, push and pull and emotional evolution is swoonalicious to the max. Best friends to lovers is not my typically my favorite trope but per usual Izzy’s writing has pierced my heart and impacted my soul. Do yourself a favor and read this series you will be happy you did.

God, this book ate.
As an MM romance lover, Double Play was everything I wanted and more. Two baseball players, best friends, teammates, and completely down bad for each other? I was obsessed😭⚾️

Andres and Jackson had such great chemistry, and I loved that they were equally gone for each other. The mutual pining, the friendship, and the way Andres always looked out for Jackson, especially with his Type 1 diabetes, completely melted my heart🤍

Add in a fun storyline, great spice, and a romance that had me smiling the entire time, and this became such an enjoyable read.

I read this book in less than one day! Andres and Jackson are baseball players, besties, and lovers. They quickly communicate their feelings to each other and form a loving, hot, and steamy relationship.

The rep in this book was amazing especially the T1D. Andres cares and loves on Jackson so much. We see Jackson struggle with accepting love, and being cared for but we see him grow and begin to change his mindset. I also loved how the author threw in the Spanish dirty talk which was sooooo good.

Can't get enough of these two and so excited for the next one!

If Izzy writes it im gonna read it, especially if it’s an MM from her 💜💜 We’re back to the San Jose Coyotes without next couple and they are definitely gonna be holding strong as my favorite. This story is a quick little banger, where these boys are not playing games. They know what they want and that’s each other, now while there definitely spice, guard your hearts because the way that Andres takes care of Jackson?! Made me melt every time, and Jackson is such a sweet baby that absolutely deserved the world. If you loved Caleb and Miggy from Izzy other story Disarm you will absolutely fall in love with these two 💜💜

Everything about this book was perfection. Andres and Jackson are teammates and best friends with benefits.
They take the next step and it’s easy. Taking care of each other, making sure they both have what they need. Andres is the most thoughtful partner, making sure that Jack has what he needs to survive since he has Type 1 Diabetes. Everyone needs someone like Andres in their life! The way he took care of him just melted my heart ♥️
The bond these two have with their teammates was heartwarming. Definition of ride or dies.

Time for me to go back and read the first 2 books in the series.

I absolutely loved this one. First, can we talk about how beautifully TD1 was portrayed? You can tell the author took the time to handle it with care, and it felt real instead of becoming the character's entire personality.

And Andrés González? Sir. As a Latina reader, I loved seeing a Latino MMC who was so caring, supportive, and intentional. The way he showed up for Jackson, learned what he needed, and took care of him without making it feel overbearing had me in my feelings. Green flag after green flag. The chemistry between Jackson and Andrés was everything. The banter, the tension, the sweetness, it all worked for me

My Review:
Loved this novella. It was short, sweet, low angst, and cute as heck. Jackson loves his best friend Andres, and Andres loves him. Though since their men they do not tell this to each other and just act like a couple while sharing women. But then things all come to a head and they admit their feelings and become a couple. They also have fun side character friends. If you’re looking for a palette cleanser or something low angst, short, and cute I would recommend this one!
