**Kept by the Kingpin by Evie Rose** is wildly addictive, deliciously possessive, and the perfect blend of danger, steam, humor, and heart. With a silver fox mafia kingpin who falls first and falls hard, a compassionate nurse who completely unravels him, and one of the most entertaining "reverse kidnapping" plots I've ever read, this book was impossible to put down.
The story centers on 23-year-old Callie Flowers, a dedicated nurse who spends her days caring for others. She's beautiful, smart, hardworking, and genuinely kind-hearted—exactly the type of woman you can't help but root for. When a wounded mafia boss is rushed into her ER with a gunshot wound, Callie simply does her job and treats him like any other patient. What she doesn't realize is that this single act of kindness is about to completely alter the course of both their lives.
Reid Maddox, the 49-year-old Kingpin of Woodford, is everything you'd want in a silver fox mafia hero. Tall, broad-shouldered, tattooed, powerful, and possessing those captivating blue eyes that can command a room with a single glance, Reid is feared by everyone around him. He's wealthy, ruthless when necessary, and used to people obeying him out of fear or obligation. Yet beneath the hardened exterior is a surprisingly lonely man who has spent years keeping everyone at arm's length.

From the moment she calmly patches up his wound, Reid is captivated. More importantly, he discovers something that shocks him: he can actually tolerate her touch. When Callie turns down his offer to care for him privately, Reid simply finds another solution. Enter the wonderfully ridiculous concept of a reverse kidnapping—a plan that somehow manages to be possessive, protective, and oddly sweet all at once. Only a lovesick mafia kingpin could come up with something so outrageous and somehow make it romantic.
One of the strongest aspects of the novel is the contrast between Callie and Reid. She's young, nurturing, optimistic, and grounded in helping others. He's older, jaded, dangerous, and accustomed to solving problems through power and intimidation. On paper, neither believes they should work. Yet together they create the perfect balance. Callie sees beyond Reid's reputation and recognizes the caring, protective man hidden beneath the kingpin persona. At the same time, Reid becomes completely undone by her warmth and kindness.
What makes their relationship work so well is that Callie softens Reid without ever diminishing who he is. She doesn't change him or try to reform him. Instead, she becomes the one person capable of reaching the vulnerable parts of him that no one else has ever seen. Watching this feared mafia boss become almost ridiculously devoted to a single woman was one of my favorite parts of the story.
And Reid's obsession? Absolutely top-tier mafia romance material.
The man quietly decides that no one else is allowed to care for him but Callie. Every interaction is filled with longing, tension, and possessive devotion. He's protective in that classic "touch her and die" way that mafia romance readers love, but he's also thoughtful, considerate, and surprisingly tender. The hurt-comfort moments throughout the story add so much emotional depth, highlighting how much Callie's care means to a man who has spent most of his life without it.
The chemistry between them is phenomenal. Forced proximity, age-gap tension, praise-filled moments, jealous possessiveness, protective instincts, and enough steam to keep the pages turning all combine to create an intensely satisfying romance. What began as a cover story created by another lovestruck mafia man has evolved into one of the most entertaining running jokes in the series. Watching powerful mafia bosses from across London—including Mayfair, Westminster, Edmonton, Norwood, Canary Wharf, and now Reid himself—gather under the wholesome banner of "Maths Club" never stops being funny. Their friendships add warmth and charm that perfectly counterbalance the darker mafia elements.
Equally entertaining is the wives' counterpart group, the London Mafia Smut Club. The contrast between intimidating mafia men discussing "maths" and their wives running a romance-loving book club continues to be one of the sweetest and funniest aspects of the series.
As if the romance wasn't compelling enough, the stakes rise even further when Callie is kidnapped for real. The protective instincts Reid has been struggling to contain explode into full force, and seeing the entire Maths Club rally together to help him get her back was both exciting and heartwarming. (I listed possible TWs at the end of my review). Reid & Callie have some seriously funny & witty banter. This has an over-the-top HEA, sïzzlïng ṣëxy tïmës and an Epilogue that is 10 years ahead. 💕

I’m staying on the top floor.”

Reid Maddox is our MMC. Forty nine year old, silver fox with captivating blue eyed. Tall, broad shoulders, muscular and tatted up. A Mafia Boss who’s hard and authoritative. The Kingpin Of Woodford. But Callie see’s the kindness and caring in him also. Especially towards her. Realizing quickly no one else is allowed to touch him but her.
He’s decided Callie is going to be the one who takes care of his wound. Even to the clever way of reverse kidnapping her.

The chemistry between the main characters was intense, and the tension was woven beautifully throughout the story. I especially enjoyed the darker elements, the possessive hero, and the emotional moments that balanced out the high-stakes drama.
The pacing was strong overall, though there were a few moments where I found myself wanting a little more character development and depth in certain scenes. Even so, the storyline was engaging, and I was fully invested in seeing how everything would unfold.

Callie Flowers is a nurse & finds herself treating Reid Maddox who needs a bullet wound dressing. He decides he needs Callie to continue to treat his wound until it’s healed. However she refuses to move into his home nor will she accept a huge amount of money. So he pays her housemates to move out, he buys the house & moves in.
I absolutely love these fast paced, age gap romances, the characters are wonderful, the chemistry sizzles, there’s witty dialogue & steam. I loved Reid who fell so hard & fast for Callie, she also fell for him. I loved how he up ended his life to be near her, even renovating the house bit by bit whilst she was out at work – yes she refused to give up work. Once again I devoured it in a sitting

This was so well-written and engaging from the minute I turned the first page. There was no reading a couple of chapters and then putting get ebook down. The minute I opened it up I had to finish it. Reid ends up in the hospital with a bullet wound and meets a nurse he absolutely cannot resist. She is the first person that can touch him and there is something engaging about her personality that keeps him hooked from the minute he met her. So instead of kidnapping her to his house he just moves into hers. I laughed my way through and so thoroughly enjoyed every single moment of this read. I could start this book from the very beginning again and still enjoy it as much as I did the first time.

What is a man to do when the only person who has touched with such gentleness is a nurse called Callie. When Callie refuses an offer of a job, the only thing a kingpin mafia man can do is kidnap the sexy nurse, move into her home and let her go to work. Reid just doesn’t know the word no and his heart has been completely taken. Loved how Callie softens the harden kingpin.
Loved the London Maths Club scene , how harden men show friendship and warmth.

This novella is dual POV, well written, and a funny, fast-paced, steamy, age gap, contemporary romantic comedy between Callie, the female emergency nurse lead, and Reid, the male mafia kingpin lead. I enjoyed Callie’s ethics and her determination to maintain her career and lifestyle. I was amused at Reid’s equal determination to have her act as his nurse and his machinations to ensure that occurred. I enjoyed his respect for his desires even while he facilitated his. I enjoyed the building intimacy and steamy moments.

Callie is the nurse at the hospital when Reed is brought in with a gunshot wound. She quickly realizes that he's in the mafia, but she stays professional and does her job. Reed tries to hire her to come take care of him and she refuses. She's not afraid of him. So he reversed kidnaps. Instead of taking her away to his house, he moves into hers. He buys the house and starts renovating it one room at a time and has her take care of him in between her shifts at work. They slowly fall in love. When she is snatched by a rival gang. He will stop at nothing to get to her. They build a life together. That works for them.

I am loving the books in this series and this one was no different. I love that Callie is a strong character and knows what she wants. And her and Reid’s connection translates great on page. I was so excited to see this book release and am already grieving the day this series ends. (Although this could be it and I just don’t know!! Please don’t be the end). Precious books leaned heavily into the “chase” kink and was glad to see a pull back from it and make it stand on its own two feet. Look forward to all future books from Evie.

Callie and Reid found their person through an interesting meet-cute. This has a different feel than some of the other novels in the Maths Club world. It’s slower paced and more focused on the two of them doing “non-mafia” type activities. It has the same banter between MCS, romance, but not a ton of dramatic action as other novels. The reverse-kidnapping is an interesting concept especially considering the rule of the maths club regarding kidnapping. Enjoy the fun chapters in the middle! The epilogue…adorable! This book has it all…cake, home renovation, kisses, and swoony mafia men! ARC via booksprout.

Kept by the Kingpin is over the top spicy deliciousness at its best! I just adore Evie Rose’s books, this one included!!! Reid and Callie have undeniable chemistry, a funny and flirty dynamic, and hardcore mine vibes from the get-go, even though neither of them realizes it. Reid’s quirks are so perfectly him, and Callie’s innocent sweetness is quite endearing. The London Maths Club scene is priceless, and my favorite part is when Reid realizes he might actually have friends after all. Loved this one!

This book is part of London Mafia Bosses series. I think I found a new trope: Reverse kidnapping. Did not know I needed this in my life but now I'm obsessed. Callie is a nurse helping treat a gun wound to Mafia boss Reid. When Reid couldn't use his money to hire Callie as his nurse he used different tactics. I smiled, laughed out loud, and swooned throughout the story. I loved Reid and Callie. Another great read by Evie Rose.

Reid is treated by Callie and he decides she will be the one to continue with that job. Reid wants Callie so much that he buys the building and becomes her neighbor. This was a fun and extremely quick read. The author does a wonderful job to develop Reid and Callie especially with the size of the book. They were so much fun together and readers will love them. There is plenty of spice and a lively epilogue. This is a novella sized book so you can finish it in an hour or so.

This was cute as hell!
I liked the vibes from the beginning. Both the fact that the MC was instantly locked into the “only she can touch me” thing and that the FMC stood her ground and wasn’t afraid of saying no to him.
Their chemistry was more sweet than spicy at first but the buildup was good. And the spice itself was delicious.
I liked the angsty moment even if it was brief, always love a good confession after duress moment.
Hopefully we get our first FMC kingpin x MMC kingpin on the next book!

This author knows how to write morally grey men. Reid meets nurse Callie when his men take him to hospital to get his arm fixed after being shot. He sees her and tries to get her to come home with him but ends up following her rules. He moves in with her while she cares for him. Callie calls it reverse kidnapping. This is a witty, fun read with action and lots of steam. The characters are great together and play off each other beautifully. It’s a great read.

This fast paced mafia novella is about Reid who is a mafia boss and is shot in the arm. Callie is the nurse assigned to dress his wound. Reid doesn’t like being touched however Callie’s touch made him feel good and he wants more. He demands she come to home and treat him. She refuses to bow to any amount of persuasion he may offer. So Reid decides to buy the rental home she lives in and begins to renovate the house as they get closer and fall in love. This is an age gap mafia romance novella. Great short story with great characters. I really enjoyed it.

This is my first age gap book (&book review) and this is the 2nd Evie Rose's books that I had read/listened to. A 23-year old Nurse who is nursing a mafia boss. He takes a liking to her and reverse kidnaps her in her own home.
The age gap wasn't in your face. Just the insta chemistry between the main characters was what made me wanted to keep reading.
Overall, enjoyable read.

I love everything about the London Mafia (Maths) Club/Syndicate books and this is no different. I want my own Reid to come and backwards kidnap me and renovate my house at the same time. So I've discovered that I love Evie Rose's writing. She does humor, romance, and steam really well. There is a connection at first sight but thr MMC and FMC didn't act on it right away- in fact it was a while before there was any intimacy between them. There is a wide age gap between them. The connection between them was believable and I could see their relationship growing.

I really enjoyed this. It had me laughing at the banter between Reid and Callie. I feel like its a push and pull between them but I could tell they were perfect for each other.
