Pig in a poke book; I went in knowing nothing about the author, the book, even what genre it was. No blurb, no reviews, nothing. I just saw it on Project Gutenberg's feed and thought I'd roll the dice.
It's a mainstream novel written in the late 1940s but set in the early 1940s, featuring two lawyers: a hot-shot and a not-shot, with the latter being the viewpoint character. They were at law school together. I did track down a review in the end, and it seems the story is mainly about the hot-shot's relationship with a highly intelligent woman who's a journalist.
Wasn't doing a lot for me, but it may be to someone else's taste.
