Willow Ranch Cowboys: A Spicy Small Town Reverse Harem Romance

Rate this book
Falling for the three cowboys next door was not the plan.

I built a quiet life in Colter Creek.
Just me, my bees… and my little honey stand.

There’s just one problem. My neighbors…

Jesse Murphy is sunshine in worn boots—a single dad to twins who’ve already decided I belong in their family.
Wyatt Tucker is the town veterinarian. Calm. Steady. The kind of man who sees straight through my walls.
And Marshall Holt… the quiet, brooding rancher who watches me like I’m something he might never let go.

I learned a long time ago how to stand on my own.

But storms are rolling into the valley.
Trouble is coming for Willow Ranch.
And the three cowboys next door seem determined to protect me—whether I’m ready to let them or not.

Willow Ranch Cowboys is a standalone MFMM why choose romance in the “Colter Creek” series. Get ready for steamy next-door temptation, a smokin' hot single dad cowboy, and cozy ranch life. No swords cross. Ultra swoony HEA.

Overall, this was a good book, but I had several issues with it that, for me, were enough to affect the score

First, there were several points were it felt like they were written by a different person. Shifts in tone, writing, dialogue, etc. gave the feeling that there were at least two authors involved in this book, and, at times, it could be pretty jarring.

Second, the book felt rushed. Not the story itself, but like it was written in a rush and didn't have the usual attention to detail I would expect from previous Lacey Day books. For example, characters would move from a chair in the living room to a sofa to all gathered around the dining room table in a matter of paragraphs without actually mentioning moving, and far too quickly to have actually made those movements in the amount of time that passed. Notably, in chapter four, Wyatt describes Abilene wearing a blue dress, but the next chapter, and at the same event, Abilene wipes her hands on her jeans (no, there was no mention of her changing clothes)

Third, overall, it just felt like the book was written by a different person than other Lacey Day books I've read. I don't really know how to describe or identify the difference, but, when you've read enough books by someone, you kinda notice things, you know

I really did like the story, and found the mystery of Abilene's family interesting, (I didn't predict any of it) and it's possible that some/most of the issues I noticed were fixed before publishing. Like I said, a lot of the issues seem more like they're from the author rushing than anything else, and I'm sure with at least three active series, there's a lot of pressure to get new books out quickly, have reviews ready/posted before the book is published, and to already have the next one written before the last one is even available to readers, so, really, take my review with a grain of salt, and, if you like cozy, small town, rancher RH stories, give this one a try (and the rest of Lacey Day's books, even though they're not all rancher stories).

Lacey Day delivers an utterly compelling and unputdownable second instalment in the Colter Creek Series. This is a truly heartwarming romance, distinguished by its strong, cohesive storyline and equally engaging characters.

The narrative revolves around Abilene, a fiercely independent beekeeper who sells honey to the townspeople. Sweet, thoughtful, kind, and a bit reserved, Abilene has long preferred the quiet company of her bees to people, despite her charm naturally turning heads. She finds herself drawn into the orbit of three close friends, her captivating neighbours from Willow Ranch.

The trio includes Marshall, the brooding one troubled by deep trauma and regret; Wyatt, the quiet, calm town vet who provides a grounding steadiness; and Jesse, the single father and carpenter, who brings warmth and light, full of sunshine and laughter.

Each man initially attempts to win Abilene's heart independently. However, they soon realise they are stronger working together. A mutual affection blossoms, a dynamic made livelier by Jesse's six-year-old twins, Eliza and Caleb, who especially enjoy Abilene's honey stick treats and provide a refreshing contrast to the story's heavier moments.

The plot deepens with the addition of a compelling family mystery surrounding Abilene. When the valley is threatened, the group bands together to protect not only themselves but also the bees and animals of Willow Ranch. The way all these elements converge is genuinely lovely.

Heartwarming Why-Choose Ranch romance

A heartwarming why choose romance by Lacey Day, the second in the Colter Creek series, with a small town western romance, a single dad to twins, the town vet, a rancher and the bee keeper, great character development, brilliant banter, two brilliantly sweet twins (you can't help but love the pair), chemistry, romance and love.

Abilene lives alone and it fiercely independent but shy and reserved, though everyone makes way for her. After her mum dies in a fire her father had left her to be brought up by her grandmother. She enjoys keeping bees and selling the honey along with candles, soaps and honey sticks at the local market. Though she prefers her bees to people she finds herself drawn to the three men who live on Willow Ranch nearby.

Jesse - a single father of twins. He's chaotic, a menace and sunshine personified, throwing light on others shadows; and his twins love Abilene.
Marshall - The lead rancher who's brooding, quiet, with a traumatic past he has nightmares over.
Wyatt - The town vet. He's calm, steady and notices everything, especially when it comes to Abilene.

As each of the men try to win her heart when they realise they've all fallen for the same girl. But with a storm on the way they'll need to work together and protect each other, her bees and their horses.

It was also great to see Dakota, Clint, Reid and Sawyer again. Another great RH read from Lacey Day and I would strongly recommend.

Honey, Hearts, and Hidden Truths

I really enjoyed this second installment of the Colter Creek series. I was especially fascinated by the apiary and the underlying family mystery, it added such a unique and engaging layer to the story.

Abilene is a sweet beekeeper who is thoughtful, kind, and a bit reserved. She makes and sells honey to the townspeople and has a quiet charm that naturally turns heads wherever she goes. It isn’t long before she finds herself caught between three close friends.

The men of Willow Ranch are each drawn to Abilene and initially try to win her heart on their own, until they realize they’re stronger working together. Marshall has a calming presence but carries deep trauma and regret. Wyatt, the town vet, offers a quiet steadiness that grounds the group. Jesse, a single father and carpenter, brings warmth and light to everyone in his orbit.

And then there are the six-year-old tornado twins, Eliza and Caleb, who kept the story lively and were such a refreshing contrast to the heavier moments.

When the valley is threatened, this group bands together, not just to protect themselves, but also the bees and animals of Willow Ranch. The addition of Abilene’s family mystery made the story even more compelling, and I genuinely loved how it all came together.

I can’t wait to read more in this series, and as always, I love how this author weaves past characters into her stories.

Well Lacey Day has done it again, another amazing heart warming romance I couldn't put down. Book 2 in the new Colter Creek Series is even better than the first book. It has a strong storyline from start to finish and equally strong characters, She has a brilliant way of incorporating the characters from earlier stories within the series. I am looking forward to Book 3 " Ironwood Ranch Cowboys" I know this is just the start of another fantastic series. If you haven't read any of Lacey's reverse harem series then I would highly recommend that you do.
Abilene has been on her own for a while though to be honest she feels comfier with her bees than being around people, she has learnt to fend for herself but she is drawn to her three cowboy neighbours, she adores Jesse's twins Eliza and Caleb and they seem to like her too especially her honey stick treats.
Jesse is sunshine and laughter, Wyatt is the town vet, calm and quiet and has been watching her from a distance and then there is Marshall, quiet and brooding and has nightmares that haunt his nights.

Book 2 in the Colter Creek series, Willow Ranch is run by Jesse, Marshall and Wyatt, with adorable twins with Jesse being the single dad. The amount of times those kids made me smile with some of the crazy things they said, well let's say it was quite a few times.

Abeline, is a quiet fairly isolated beekeeper, who lost her mum in a fire, her dad left without explanation and was raised by her grandmother who taught her all she new about bees; Abeline then sells honey and candles in the town market.

The three men all fall in love with Abeline from afar but all decide to make a move to tell her how they feel around the same time and Abeline doesn't know what to do as she doesn't want to hurt any of them.

I felt this book had a very different vibe from Lacey's previous books, there was a lot more emotion in it and it all felt a little deeper, yet the story seemed gentle despite there being a mystery of what was hidden in the family, were there sinister reasons for her mother's death? What jewels were hidden? was someone responsible?

Although different from previous books I did still enjoy it and would recommend it.

Another magnificent book📚 by Lacey Day🔞
This is a 💛M/FMM BOOK 📖 🔞
Lacey Day is one of my favorite reverse harem author ✍️

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "If 'Book Hangover' was a medical diagnosis, I’d be in the ICU right now. This story hit every single emotional note with the precision of a world-class orchestra. It has that rare 'vacation magic' where you forget your own name for 300 pages and then wake up at the end feeling like a brand new person. A true 5-star experience is supposed to feel like a high-end holiday for your imagination, and this one delivered a first-class ticket. It has that sense of completion that is so hard to find where every thread is tied, every emotion is earned, and you’re left sitting in silence for twenty minutes after the final period just staring at the wall. It’s that 'magical vacation' vibe where you’re sad it’s over, but you’re so filled with the warmth of the journey that you can’t even be mad at the flight home.

A real-life disaster threatens Colter Creek and Abilene’s three neighbors next door come to help her retreat to their cabin away from the impending fire. The vet, cowboy dad of twins, and rancher who live at Willow Ranch slowly work their way into Abilene’s reserved and quiet life. She has a deep understanding of the complex language of her bee colonies, and enjoys selling honey products at the local market. It’s difficult for her to believe that Wyatt, Jesse, and Marshall won’t leave her like family in her past.

It was such a compelling story of romance and rural life. I felt a real affinity with Abilene because she was shy and not the outgoing, attention-grabbing main character. She seemlessly integrates into the lives of the 6 year-old twins. The whole story and characters were authentic with the spiciness of the reverse harem subgenre.

Loved Returning to Colter Creek

This was a wonderful continuation of Lacey’s Colter Creek series. Abilene was one of the sweetest FMCs I’ve read in a while. While she basically thinks her bees are basically gonna be her only companions for life lol, her neighbors disagree. At first the guys, Marshall, Jesse & Wyatt, are pursuing her individually, but thankfully they realize she is the perfect woman for ALL 3 of them. Thank goodness, cause they were all so different, and were the perfect balance to our shy & reserved Abilene. When you add in some mystery, a bit of intrigue, forced proximity, chemistry that’s off the charts, low angst, and 2 adorable twins who bring so much energy & life to the story, this book has everything you could want to get lost for a weekend. Can’t wait to see what Lacey has in store for the next book ❤️

This was a good story that had a bit of drama, mystery and intrigue, of course there was lots of loving. Abilene is the owner of bee hives she inherited from her grandmother, the hives that produces the honey she cells in her business, Sweet Haven Honey. Her neighbours Marshall, who owns Willow Ranch next door, Jesse his ranch hand and Wyatt the vet, in the town of Colter Creek. When a wildfire rushes through their area, they are evacuated to a safer location which is Marshall’s fishing cabin further away from the fires. What starts with this friendship turns into a forever kind of love and a mystery from Abilene‘s family that they all solve together. Eventually, things turn out, and they all go onto to have their happily ever after together.

A book to immerse yourself in.
This felt like I was invited into the MC’s lives to walk alongside them. At first, it was fast, and then it settled into a slow burn - mystery twist, with a definite HEA. A story of choosing your own family, and how that family will look. I enjoyed the different depths this story encompassed and the MC’s development. Not a whole lot of drama or anguish, for which I am grateful. All up, I recommend this book if you are interested in a (mostly) calm, longer story, that you can really get lost in. Can be read as a standalone, some characters are ‘visible’ from the previous book High Ridge Ranch Cowboys – also a very good read.

Abilene is the local bee keeper and neighbor to 3 hot ranchers. Jesse the single dad to six year old twins has the sunshine role. And these twins are absolutely adorable little kids who capture your heart. They already find Abilene to be part of their family. Wyatt the local vet keeps every one steady and then there is quiet and broody Marshall. These three men fall for Abilene but soon realize that they are more complete when all four of them are together. This is a sweet, steamy and additive why choose reverse harem read. I really enjoyed this book and it’s a great addition to this series and I can’t wait for the next book.

This book sets up a cozy small-town romance with a compelling twist: falling for three cowboys next door. The mix of a peaceful life—bees, honey stand, Colter Creek—with hints of looming danger creates a strong sense of atmosphere and tension.
Each cowboy feels distinct, from the warm single dad to the steady vet to the brooding rancher, suggesting layered relationships rather than a one-note dynamic. The heroine’s independence adds emotional depth, making the story about trust as much as romance.
While it leans on familiar archetypes, the blend of found-family vibes and protective, slow-burn connection makes it an appealing, comforting read with a touch of suspense.

Suspense, sweetness, bees, and three hot neighbors. Can’t ask for much more in a story. I absolutely loved book and the characters were great. This book new was a spicy, small town, why choose romance. One to curl up with and enjoy. I loved each of the guys and how the bright something different to Abi’s life. And the way they were so protective of her. So hot. This story was balanced perfectly with everything that took place, so for me, that was a win all its own. In really enjoying the bold from this author.

This one really tug at my heart. Abilene has only her bees after losing most of her family and there's a storm coming, both in the way of fire and some past mysteries that maybe should stay there. Her neighbors, Jesse, Marshall and Wyatt have their own stories as well. The guys come to Abilene's aid when fire comes for them, and keep her and her bees safe. Jesse's kids have pulled her into their family unit before anyone knew what was going on. This was a very sweet and emotional ride for me.

I love that there is another book in the Colter Creek series. This time it is the story of Abilene, Wyatt, Jesse and Marshall. The men have decided that instead of making her choose, they will all make the choice together. They use the other poly couple as an example of what will work for them.
Jesse's twins are precocious and loving. They love Abilene and they love the bees.
There is also a mystery that weaves its way through the book, that is solved by the end of the book, but not how you think it will end.

All about the fire!

3 guys, Jesse, Wyatt and Marshall, 2 children and 1 woman, Abilene . The guys live on the ranch next door and Abilene is the beekeeper living in her grandmothers house. Then the thunderstorm and lightening sets off a fire in the ridge. They all end up at the guy’s lakeside cabin, evacuated because of the fire. Things get heated, they all admit that they want Abilene and some other things escalate. This was a sweet story with many believable episodes. Another winner from Lacey Day.

Found family and healing. This book had a lot of healing and truly finding yourself. I loved the growth within all the characters and the kids were hilarious. Also had a little bit of a mystery with the FMC getting letters trying to help her find something to do with her family. This book doesn’t necessarily have the characters from the other book like the usually do. They show up very little so not necessary to read the other book in the series

Review as part of an ARC.

The boys of Willow Ranch bring more complex cowboys to the forefront. I love how Lacey gives each character such a unique personality and story. Marshall, Wyatt, and Jesse all pull you in with their own special ways.

And then there's Abilene. Sweet, honeybee, Abilene. She's so resilient and seriously sweet. I really love her banter with the kids! She is such a relatable character. 10/10.

This was such a sweet low angst rancher romance! The added suspense from the mystery surrounding Abilene and her family left me needing to continue on to figure out the mystery. The twins were the sweetest, funniest chaotic tornadoes in the book that made me constantly laugh. The men were sweet, patient and so loving. 5 ⭐️.

An easy read .. a standalone but second book in this world. You don’t need to read the first one but those characters are part of this one.

Abilene … quiet and always on the outside looking in. But she is seen by three friends and they all revolve around her.

A chance of miscommunication..
family and town secrets..
Adorable twins ..
and a whole bunch of bees ..

Oh my goodness, how can you not love Jesse's twins, Caleb & Eliza? They are chaos and sunshine. They made the story just as much as Abilene and the mystery behind her family. I loved how the men, Jesse, Wyatt, and Marshall just all stepped in and made sure she was taken care of. Such neighborly guys, in more ways than one, ;-).

She was alone with no family left but she still had her bees. They just wanted to keep up with all the ranch had. What none of them expected was a wildfire and everything to change. When her past comes back they will stay by her side to find the truth. After everything the guys have been thru they never expected to let her in. I would love to see what the future holds for them.
