They are to be taken away from the grim urban landscape of Sargasso City, and their involuntary service there, by something that has not been in use for hundreds of years - a steam engine. Where it comes from, where it takes them, and for what purpose it takes them there are closely protected secrets, and when they arrive at their destination, yet more puzzling questions are encountered. Whom should they believe about their true situation? Whom should they trust? Will they see home again? Where exactly are they?

Part II of this "lite" science fiction novella takes you deeper into the mysterious world of New Cesarea and its inhabitants as Greg and the new recruits become entwined in an increasingly perplexing plot, with the enigmatic Governor Morris at the center of it all.
