I think this is one of those cases about timing. I mean that in the sense that had I read this book a few years back, I probably would've enjoyed it more. It has Shayla Black's distinct stamp of erotic suspense that I normally really enjoy. But I do find that with a shorter story like this it can be hard to tie in a good suspense storyline and a romance that in this case doesn't have much of a backstory.
Alejandro owns a kink club, and he's wanted to get the sexy professional dancer Shanna in his grasp for a while now. He gets the perfect opportunity when she comes to him for help to try and find the person from his clientele at the kink that club that is blackmailing her dance partner.
One thing is for certain Alejandro and Shanna have great chemistry and the sex scenes are really hot. But I found Shanna's readily disposition to scene with Alejandro when she had never done anything of the like was a bit unbelievable. As I mentioned before, had this been a full length novella I'm sure this would've been taken care of.
My only complaint about the audiobook of this book was the fact that the narrator kept pronouncing the hero's nickname wrong. Since Alejandro is spanish, his nickname Ale should be pronounced more like Aleh than Ali. It kept throwing me off everytime! Nevertheless, this was an enjoyable read if you're looking for something quick and sexy and that stands completely on its own.
