He’s the brutal gladiator-turned-vampire I’ve hunted for years…and I’m the slayer who will do anything to end him. Marcus Antonius needs to die. The arrogant vampire is an immortal legend—a cruel warrior and beautiful predator. I’m an orphaned slayer with no magic, but I refuse to be his prey. When I finally lure him to my home, he nearly kills me, and I learn a horrible truth—to avenge my parents’ deaths, I need to partner with my enemy. Our deal is simple—one week living together in exchange for my revenge. We share a bed. He sleeps shirtless and tempts me in the night. And when he needs to feed? I shouldn’t let him bite me. I shouldn’t start to crave it. And I definitely shouldn’t like everything he does for me, like rescue me when I’m injured, and feed me when I’ve been fending for myself for years. Just when I start to trust him, I learn he’s been keeping secrets. One week, one bed, one deal — and a vampire I can’t kill but can never keep.
Sophia Travers has been reading romance novels for as long as she can remember (sorry, Mom, for stealing all those books and hiding them under the bed). Ever since she discovered that writing romance is just as addicting as reading it, she's been populating fictional worlds with smitten heroes and ambitious heroines. She loves enemies to lovers, second chances, heroines who know what they want, and lots and lots of angst.
Omg I do love a vampire and Sophia you really did your big one with this! I love, love, loved Leah and Marcus and how desperately gone they were for each other. I also love the trope where he is obsessed with her scent even when he hates her, and she interprets it as him thinking she’s smelly - classic. Also love the quote, “once you go fang, you need it when you bang.“ What a great way to start September!! 😌
The premise: Leah is a slayer who has been hunting down her parents’ killer for years, and when she thinks she’s finally found the vampire responsible, Marcus, it turns out that she has him mixed up with his brother. However, she accidentally has the two of them trapped together so they must work together to bring down Marcus’s brother. And of course they also realize that they are irresistible to one another along the way.
Read for: ☕️ Enemies to lovers ☕️ Only one bed ☕️ Grumpy x grumpy ☕️ Fated mates ☕️ Costco trips ☕️ He’s kind of a himbo ☕️ Yearning man ☕️ Luna the cat
Leah and Marcus prove that their love can survive anything by undertaking the most perilous of journeys together: Costco at full capacity. (You thought I was going to say vampire slaying? You’ve clearly never hunted for a carton of eggs on a Saturday.) Fangbanger is a snappy, sexy vampire/hunter romance full of Travers’ signature banter, and I highly recommend you pick it up this spooky season.
While I’m working on coming around to the fated mates trope (it’s never been my favorite, which is a cardinal sin in the eyes of BookTok), my biggest ick in this relationship is Marcus’ “little one” nickname for Leah. I’ve never liked it when the MMC constantly refers to the FMC’s smaller size - as a shorter woman myself, there’s just something about it that makes me a little uncomfortable. Fortunately, they’re either too busy fighting supernatural creatures or finding improper uses for hunting equipment for it to come up too often.
I would take more of Marcus’ siblings (Teddy in particular, my sassy, unbothered fave), Karina, and Dean in a heartbeat. If there’s one thing Travers excels at (outside of steamy romance, of course!), it’s hilarious, three-dimensional side characters.
My my…sink your teeth into this book asap! I love the idea of this and it turned into an awesome story. Both Marcus and Leah had me hooked from the beginning, their chemistry was palpable and their relationship developed fast but easy.
I loved the spooky setting, the enemies to lovers, trying to kill each other while simultaneously developing feelings and being turned on…my cup of tea.
Leah needed a love that healed that loneliness inside her and Marcus gave it to her selflessly. Marcus was just so good, his jealousy was hot as hell, his caring side even hotter and his pet names? To die for.
Only slight complaint, the lack of answers related to a big part of the plot. I get it’s a novella, but I needed the ending to fully wrap everything up, so I was just missing that little bit of resolution.
I enjoyed every bit of these novellas. I want more, more books about each side character, more epilogues about the OG couples…the works! Thank you so much for the advanced copy!
Leah is determined to avenge her parents, and her one goal in life is to kill Marcus. But after finally luring him in, she realizes she may have had it all wrong.
The attraction between these two is instant, intense, and impossible to ignore, even when Leah tries her hardest to deny it. Their chemistry is undeniable, and the pull between them only gets stronger as they’re forced to work together toward a mutual goal.
I absolutely loved the push and pull of their dynamic. The tension, the chemistry, the way they kept fighting what was clearly there, I couldn’t get enough! I was just waiting for the moment they finally stopped fighting it and went all in.
If you’re looking for a quick, super hot read with a ton of chemistry that’s perfect for the season, this one is it!
I loved this small but mighty novella! Vampires and Slayers… the perfect way to jumpstart spooky season! The chemistry between Leah and Marcus was delicious from the beginning. And watching them figure out what they meant to each other was emotional and hilarious at the same time. Not gonna lie, it kinda made me want a hot, giant vampire to take to Costco with me 🤣. Even though this was short, we met so many good side characters… I would be so down for more books in this world! If you are looking for a short, fast paced, deliciously spiced book for spooky season, Sophia definitely hit the mark with this one!! Thank you Sophia for the advanced copy of this book
A vampire x slayer sworn-enemies romance? You already know I’m going to be seated. This was a fun, quick Halloween read with plenty of spice, a morally conflicted vampire.
I did wish certain parts were fleshed out more, though. I struggled to suspend disbelief over
Also, every time they slept in a bloodied bed, I was internally screaming: PLEASE WASH THE SHEETS. 😭
A quick, spicy paranormal romance that’s perfect for a Halloween reading binge.
It has been a minute since I've read a Vampire romance and this one was so good! The attraction between Leah and Marcus was HOT! I love that our Vampire mmc was a grump who was a secret softie for a certain slayer 🤭. And I love how hard Leah tried to deny her attraction to Marcus. He said some swoony things to Leah and it was just 😮💨. Loved the Costco scene 😂!! I just loved these two if you couldn't tell!
This was a quick, spicy read perfect for the 'ber months!
As novellas go, this really packs a punch - full of well-paced action, some neatly-placed humour (one word: Costco), and scorching chemistry that starts off mired in enmity and develops, reluctantly, into something intense and unbreakable. I really liked both Leah and Marcus, strong characters who have to re-examine their deeply seated beliefs, and they are backed up by a supporting cast who manage to be distinctive (and might have potential for stories of their own). It’s spicy, bloody, intense at times, and overall a fast and satisfying read for the season.
I don’t know what I was expecting, but it definitely wasn’t this. I’m genuinely surprised and so satisfied. This has definitely become one of my favorite books for spooky season.
The writing, the story, Leah and MARCUS!! I loved everything, and I especially loved Marcus. Like, a lot.
It has sweet moments, beautiful quotes, and some hot moments 🥵
Thank you to the author for an ARC in exchange for my honest review. 4.5⭐️ This wasn’t my first Sophia Travers book, and certainly won’t be my last! A cute rom com, I laughed, at times I blushed and had to tilt my ereader away from the person next to me on my flight, and near the end I even teared up. 🥹
Leah and Marcus were freakin’ gems! The story flowed well and for a short novella, I was invested. Here’s hoping that there’s still more to this slayer universe! 🤞🏼
This was a fun and spicy vampire novella. Once I read that it was a vampire slayer versus vampire, I was hooked. I loved Leah and Marcus. They had such good chemistry and as always with this author, their banter, as well as the humor in this story in general, is top tier. It was just as much fun when they were fighting each other as when they were working together. I had a really good time reading this and would love to read more novellas or books in this world.
This was soooo good!! I’ve never read a paranormal genre before, but knew that Sophia Travers would do it well. I was hooked from the beginning and then didn’t want it to end! I absolutely loved Leah and Marcus and would have read 200 more pages of their love story. I will definitely be re-reading this!
Thank you to the Author for sending me an advanced copy of this book.
Ok, I was OBSESSED WITH THIS!! I seriously could not put this book down and I was kicking my feet and giggling reading this one! The romance was soooooo cute and the paranormal magic system in this book was actually so cool. This is my new fav book from Sophia and I DEF recommend this one for halloween.
Honestly, this was such a fun, spicy, and super quick read, but much like the other novella in the series, I wish this had been fleshed out and longer because there was a lot of potential for a full novel, but I digress.
𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗧𝗢 𝗘𝗫𝗣𝗘𝗖𝗧: - vampire x slayer - sworn enemies - his bite makes her 💦 - only one bed
do i have a thing for grumpy broody vampires who are secretly softies? yup.
do i absolutely love anything sophia writes? also yes. found myself giggling and swooning and wishing it was longer so i could get more Marcus and Leah.
Eeeeee I am officially a fan of fangs & mates. So so so impressed with both novellas in this series for giving us the world building and fully fleshed out love story in just 250 pages!
I loved this. Giggling and kicking my feet the entire time as they fell in love. Am a bloodsucker for a man/vampire discovering he likes being soft with his girl.
Holy hell, to start with their animosity was so damn strong, yet it was so damn swoony to see them fall. These two were pure enemies to lovers but the way they slow fell, it was pure heat.
And the spice...!! oh my gawdd!!!! It was hawt as hell fire!!!
There is just something about a vampire baby. And one who grows as he feeds from you?? Gurl.
This was such a good little story packed in a quick novella. I loved this! I love vampires and a vampire x slayer?? Even better. These two were hilarious and hot. Everything I wanted.
Another fun read! There is just something so satisfying about enemies to lovers, even if its in a novella. And of course the supernatural aspect adds to the cake.
WOWWWW. This was the sexiest novella I’ve ever read!! How did there feel like there was so much tension and lust and angst in such a short space of time?? Obsessed
