Final Take

Rate this book
Vanessa Miller never wanted to be Mrs. Sebastian Vanderbilt. She had goals. Dreams. A name she planned to build on her own. But marrying one of the most powerful men in the world came with expectations she never agreed to and a life that slowly taught her how lonely love can become when ambition is mistaken for sacrifice.

Sebastian Vanderbilt is control wrapped in charm. Devoted. Dangerous. A man who loves fiercely but buries everything he feels beneath silence and restraint.

To the world, their marriage is unbreakable. Behind closed doors, it’s held together by everything they refuse to say. No more pretending the distance is normal.

This is their final take.

Final Take is a dark, emotional marriage-on-the-brink romance about power, ambition, and what happens when love demands honesty instead of control.

Evie Daniels is a romance author who writes epic love stories she has yet to personally experience… research purposes only, obviously. A Southern girl at heart (with Midwest roots), her life is slightly complicated....just like her plots. Maybe one day she’ll get her own grand romance, but until then it’s dark humor, a good glass of wine, and writing romcoms that make you believe in love.

Arc Review

4⭐️

First let me start off by saying that I have been curious and intrigued by Sebastian and Vanessa's story since getting little glimpses of them in the previous books. I really enjoyed reading about their love and marriage. Sebastian loved Vanessa with everything in him and the author did a great job showing that in the story. I appreciated the backstory on how they met and fell in love, and how they ended up married. Even though divorce was on the table at the beginning, I never doubted that they didn't love each other. I appreciate the therapy aspect, and the dates with each other, and the way they loved and protected each other.

I did have a few issues with the book: the main one being editing. There were a lot of editing issues especially toward the end. Also, throughout the first half of the book we know that both Bash and Vanessa are being blackmailed and that was one of the main reasons why Vanessa wanted a divorce. Unfortunately, the author waited until the last 30% of the book to unravel the blackmail plot and secrets, to the point I felt like it was too rushed and not flushed out properly. I noticed some inconsistences with the plot toward the last half of the book, and I am not sure if it was due to the editing or the author's writing.

Overall, I really did enjoy Bash and Vanessa as couple and appreciated that we got to see their love span over the years, the issues within their marriage, but also them put in work and their growth that happened. Even though there were some editing issues and inconsistencies, I do look forward to seeing what Bash and Vanessa do next and hopefully they appear in the next 2 books left in this series.

Thank you the author for this advance copy for my honest review.

Thank you so much to author Evie Daniels for the e-ARC in exchange for a review! The Final Take is an interconnected standalone part of the Broadcast Hearts series following Vanessa and Sebastian as they are trying to salvage their marriage.

They have such a complicated dynamic and a relationship full of mixed emotions and commitment to one another. I think this book is a bit plot heavy where there’s alot going on, as they are figuring out their marriage. Coming from and being apart of a powerful family is hard, but Bash and Vanessa try their best not to lose themselves in it. Bash really made this book for me, his commitment to keeping Vanessa safe no matter what it took was admirable. He also was committed to doing whatever it took to save his marriage including therapy. The banter and tension between the MCs was palpable and believable.

I really loved how the story was unraveled between Bash and Vanessa’s present and past. This books kinda gives like mystery, thriller, and romance. I wouldn’t say it’s a super dark romance, only a little bit of killing and fighting. I feel like the last 30% was the darkest part. This book could easily been split into a couple of parts. It is a BIG GIRL, but I think worth it! Overall, I enjoyed this book and kept me engaged!

Of note - there were a few formatting things with the ARC, but I’m sure those will be fixed by the final copy 🥰

Final Take
Evie Daniels

Vanessa and Sebastian are at a stalemate in their marriage. In the evolution of how they use grief to motivate themselves, they loss the intimacy that was innate. Yet and still, it’s no question that they love each other. After so many years, it’s actually time to discuss the issues and disappointments that they’ve expressed.

On paper, Vanessa has accomplished the goals she so desperately needed to achieve. But now, she’s unimpressed with being a trophy wife. While that expression is a bit of an exaggeration, her feelings are valid. At some point, her security in the relationship is compromised.

Sebastian was born to be a protector and a provider. Since he has been married to Vanessa, he has never wavered in his desire to give her the world. His dilemma is in how he addresses his grief. He uses it as an armor to fortify his illusions of control.

Beyond the conundrum that is their relationship, they are in danger. In danger of losing everything they’ve work so hard to accomplish. In an elaborate pursuit of perseverance, the only thing that can keep them safe is honesty, and their faith in each other.

I think this is my favorite book from the Broadcast Hearts series! Coming in at over 600 pages, Final Take gives Bash and Vanessa's story the space it needs to fully unpack eighteen years of history, love, heartbreak, sacrifice, and healing. I went from keekeeing at the banter to shaking my head because everybody in this book really does need therapy! 🤣💀

Bash and Vanessa's journey was very messy, frustrating, emotional, and passionate. One thing I really appreciated was the way therapy became a safe space for them to confront years of hurt, learn to communicate honestly, and truly fight for their marriage instead of walking away from it.

I recommend this if you enjoy marriage-in-crisis romances packed with drama, suspense, and a couple willing to fight for their forever; and don't worry, it also brings the heat 🌶️🌶️🌶️

🎬 Book 3 in the Broadcast Hearts Series

💍 Marriage on the brink
🖤 Dark romance
❤️‍🩹 Second chance marriage
🔥 Slow burn
🤐 Secrets and lies
⚡ Power couple energy
💔 Emotional damage (respectfully)

An amazing read!
Twisty, family drama, marital issues, it's all there in this one!
Sebastian and Vanessa had a rocky start and it turned into rockslide. SO many problems and secrets they were hiding from each other and yet they both knew what was happening. Trying to protect each other but destroying each other in the same breathe.
It's exhausting! LOL
Sebastian is a little unhinged but he tried for HER! Vanessa wants out for a number of reason but she tried for HIM!
I just wish they would talk to each other lol
The family dynamic was a bit congested with everything going on but at the heart, everybody was for themselves and they will do anything to get ahead.

I enjoyed it as well as the entire series.
Thank you to Evie Daniels for this ARC read!

4.5 stars!

I LOVED this book! I feel like Evie’s books get better and better! By far my favorite of the series! This literally felt like a movie and the banter??? Yeah I was laughing so much. Final Take felt like a telenovella but also felt like I was in couples therapy getting tips on how to have a successful marriage and overcome obstacles that arise in long term relationships. The mysteries, the twists and turns the way the stage was set and the incorporation of past and present was such a great experience.

The spice throughout was HOT. I did not want this book to end at all and I’m grateful for the opportunity to receive this ARC.

Received this book as an ARC (thank you Ms. Daniels!!), and not a lie was told when she warned that everybody needed therapy! And I mean EVERYBODY needed to be on somebody couch🤣 The love between Vanessa and Sebastian was truly something. Their story itself was something. It seems like every time they got together and things were good, something got in the way. The plot was crazy! I honestly was not expecting that turn at the end, especially since I was dead set on it being someone else playing with Vanessa. This was a long read (~600 pages), but definitely a good one! I love seeing the growth at the end!!

This was an ARC read but man listen! I don’t got no polished review currently! This book had me wanting to finish so bad. Like I was locked in. It was the perfect amount of suspense, romance, healing, spice and even betrayal. My mouth was on the floor a few times! For Ms. Evie girl to be a 4x author, I LOVED all 4 books! I’ll stay on her arc team forever!

Worth every page

I think we should describe the book as a thriller with a side of mystery and romance adjacent but I am here for it!! This book was a wild ride back in time and the present. Just when you think you have it figured out, you don't. The plot twists and turns pretty much until the end . Enjoy the ride of the Final Take
