This book is a very good, dark, secret society. With stalking and obsession and masked men. The Veil and the Eye are the two different cults they both stand for different things. Colter has trained to be the Ghost in the Veil his whole life, and after he protected Lilith, he has never 4got bout her and his obsession with her.

This definitely wasn’t my first rodeo with Teresa Wolfe. I’ve genuinely loved several of her past projects, so it honestly makes me a little sad to say this one just didn’t hit the same for me.
There were quite a few moments where I found myself confused about what was happening, and I’ll admit… I came very close to DNF’ing it more than once. The only thing that kept me going was my history with the author and that strong curiosity to see how everything would wrap up.
The story does have its hooks—there’s mystery, violence, and that steady tension of wanting to know how it all ends. But overall, it felt like something was missing. The spice level 🌶️ was pretty low, and the pacing toward the end felt rushed, especially after such a long buildup. I kept thinking, “Okay… we’re getting somewhere,” and then suddenly it was over.
That said, it wasn’t a terrible read—just a disappointing one compared to the author’s other works, which I’ve really enjoyed. If you like darker, suspense-leaning romance with more plot than steam, you might still find something to appreciate here.
For me, this one was more of a “liked the idea, wished for stronger execution” kind of read. Still rooting for her next release though—because when she hits, she really hits.

I really enjoyed reading this short book and honestly didn’t want it to finish. It features some of my favorite tropes—a masked man, obsession, stalking and a dark secret society—all set in a world that felt gritty and lawless with its "Veil" missions and dark atmosphere. The world-building and character development were superb, and the story kept me in suspense until the very end.
The plot follows Lilith and Colter, who actually met three years prior during his initiation. He was sent as an initiate on a ‘Veil’ mission to eliminate a group and save Lilith, but she only remembers his "Ghost" mask. With their parents set to marry later, the stakes are raised and his obsession kicks in fast. Colter was raised to be an executioner, indoctrinated into unwavering loyalty to the ‘Veil,’ yet he still has a heart despite his father's best efforts to beat it out of him. He still believes in the Veil's ethos, just not in the head of the organisation once things become clearer to him.
Their dynamic was intense; he originally wanted her gone, and she hated him because of how mean he was to her playing on her insecurities. While Colter's obsession took hold as soon as their parents were set to marry at a family meal, Lilith’s journey was a bit different. She resisted him at first, and it wasn’t until a kiss much later in the book that sparks finally flew for her.
I loved the cult plot and how the characters fit within the group. The ethos of the cult had a great premise, though the first half had so much going on with a large cast that it did get a little confusing at times trying to keep track of how everyone fit as a unit.
My only real complaint is that I wish it were longer! Because it’s a shorter story, the ending felt a bit rushed and disjointed. I would have loved another few hundred pages to really flesh out the plot and characters, and to let the story finish more organically. That said, it is a superbly written, fast-paced dark romance that had me second-guessing everyone's motives.
If you like spicy, high-stakes secret society stories, I highly recommend this one! Step-brother, secret society, obsession, protector, unaliver, and spicy romance—what more could you possibly need?
I need to state before getting into this review that I was given this book through Booksprout. Now that has been stated, I can now get into the book review. There are going to be spoilers in this review. This is an ARC copy. I really enjoyed this book. This book has a few of my favorite tropes: obsession, Stalking, and a secret society. While I read Dark Society, it doesn’t rank highly on my reading list. The story follows Lilith and Colter. It starts with Colter’s indoctrination into “the Veil.” where Colter is wearing a ghost mask, and stops her from something really bad happening to her. After that night, she becomes obsessed with the ghost face. Later, they learn that their parents are set to marry. Soon, his obsession kicks in fast. While he was raised to be an executioner for the veil. She is raised to trick men into giving her money or doing whatever she wanted. Colter’s father, if you can call him that, is the head of the Head. He tried to beat Colter’s heart out of him, so that he could have a cold, unquestioning, killing machine. Even through he tried, he failed in do so. Lilith’s and Colter’s dynamic is very intense. He wanted nothing to do with her and truthfully wanted her gone. She hated him because of how her treated her and would play on her worst insecurities. Colter's obsession with her took hold as soon as their parents were set to marry at a family meal, while Lilith’s journey was different, she resisted him at for most of the book, and it wasn’t until their kiss much later in the book that she felt the sparks fly. I can say that the cult plot was really good. I will say the fist half of the book had a lot going on. There was a large cast that made it get a little confusing at times for me . I look forward to reading more about this universe, if the author chose to keep the universe going.
Now for the star ratings I’m giving this book. I’m giving this book an overall rating of 4.5 of out of 5 stars. The story is getting a rating of 4 out of 5 stars. The writing style is getting a rating of 4 out of 5 stars. The spicy level is getting a rating of 4 out of 5 stars. The spicy rating would be a 4 according to romance.io stem rating guide. I’m taking a guess on what the rating would be as this book is not out yet.
This was definitely not my favorite book. Honestly, it was quite hard to get into at first. I found there wasn't enough background information on the characters or details about the world the author was trying to create. I think it had a good premise of an unknown world. I actually described it to my husband as something similar to Gotham, since he likes Batman. But the reasoning behind the characters and why they did things from the beginning was very hard to compute. I actually had to search to see if maybe this book had a prequel.
Spoiler alert: There were competing ideas about how the FMC viewed her mother. At times, it was like she despised her mother and the way she did things. And then other times, she felt guilty about how she talked to her and loved her through all the things going on around her.
The MMC was interesting, a little dark in thought, but we really don't get much beyond little snippets of his world behind the mask. Not much of a backstory in the real world for him as well. I feel like his story left things untold by the end.
There also wasn't much romance for a romance novel. It wasn't until 66% of the book that there was an encounter, and it was mild. And then, really, only one more time at 76%, where they finally go all the way. But it was also kind of an awkward read. In the epilogue, there is one more kind of encounter, but it only lasts a few short paragraphs.
It all culminated in a crescendo at the end of the book after they finally had sex. There was more that needed to be done, and explanations were needed. I liked that there was an HEA, but no real details on where they went or what they were doing now.
Overall, it felt rushed and didn't provide enough explanation to immerse us in the world fully. It was a short read, but it took almost twice as long to read because I had to reread parts a few times to really feel immersed in the story. I would have preferred a longer book with more details, rather than being confused by trying to enter a new reality in this novel.

This book started with a premise that immediately grabbed my attention: a faceless assassin known as the Ghost, raised to be ruthless and loyal to the powerful family that controls the city, and the woman he should have killed but instead becomes obsessed with. It had all the elements of a dark romance I usually love danger, secrecy, and a morally gray MMC.
Colter, the MMC, was intriguing from the start. His life as the Ghost and the pressure of living under his family’s control created a lot of potential for internal conflict. His growing obsession with Lilith added an interesting layer, especially with the tension of her unknowingly getting closer to discovering his identity.
Lilith was also a strong enough character to keep the story moving, particularly with her curiosity and determination to uncover the truth around her. The dynamic between her and Colter had moments that were intense and suspenseful.
That said, while the story hooked me early on, it didn’t fully deliver on the buildup. I kept waiting for a bigger emotional or plot climax that never quite came. The tension was there throughout the book, but when the story reached its peak, it felt a bit rushed and less impactful than I expected.
Overall, it was a decent read with an interesting concept and characters, but it left me wanting more depth and a stronger payoff at the end. I’d give it 3 stars enjoyable, but not as powerful as the premise suggested it could be.

Til You Choke by Teresa Wolf was an incredible dark, secret society, stepbrother romance. It was chocked full of drama, twists and turns, obsession, stalking and spice. Let me tell you, this was a rollercoaster of a ride to read, and I enjoyed every single second.
The story centers on Lilith and Colter. Colter wearing a ghost mask, is being inducted into The Veil, a secret society, for which he was raised and trained to be the executioner of when he prevents Lilith from being assaulted. From that point, Lilith forms an obsession with the man in the ghost mask, unaware of the identity of the man behind the mask. Shortly after, Lilith and Colter learn of their parents' intention to marry. Colter, not long after, forms his own obsession with Lilith. He was raised to be cold and unfeeling, but Lilith is the light to his darkness, bringing out emotions within him that his father tried to eradicate. And though Lilith fought against feeling anything for Colter, they were inevitable. The chemistry between them is off-the-charts intense. Their journey is one that captivates and lives rent free in your head long after you finish reading.
Let me tell you, this was such a unique, incredible read. Though on the short side in length, I devoured this gem. It was, honestly, unputdownable. I truly hope Ms. Wolf continues with this storyline because it's phenomenal! Very, very highly recommend!!

The veil holds the secrets Lilith was not happy. Her mother was remarrying a man that she had never met before so one week before the wedding her mother decides it’s time that she should meet her new stepfather. Lilith had been put through hell a few years before that not many people believed what had happened to her. So trusting somebody else would not come easy. Colter held secrets he was the ghost of the Veil. And that meant he was given missions to make sure that the veil stayed hidden from the public. Years ago he had been given a mission to rescue the girl and make sure the others were dead. And now years later she was to become his stepsister. The ghost was always on point he had no distractions that was until. Lilith And her mum came to live at the mansion. I’ve been really vague with that because I think you need to read it to understand it all. My heart really went out to Lilith, she had a plan growing up. She had watched her mother and thought she knew how to act to get what she wanted, but I’m glad she still had a backbone. She didn’t just take everything that Colter said to her. It was fun to watch Colter to become more human to have feelings,to want someone. And who he would protect. I thoroughly enjoyed this Read.

ARC reader review: I wasn't sure what to expect with this book but I really enjoyed it. Colter and Lilith spent perhaps a little too much of their time apart for my taste but I understand why it had to be that way.
Colter is a member of a secret society and saves Lilith (after a fashion) in the first chapter of this book. Then they become step siblings but Lilith doesn't know that Colter saved her because he was wearing a mask at the time.
I especially enjoyed the way Teresa set up the relationship between Colter and Lilith after Chapter one and the story ended in a way I really really liked. However I only give four stars because I think some of the secondary characters would have benefitted from being fleshed out a bit more and the secret society aspect of things was left somewhat unresolved.
That looks like it might be because this is book one in a series but it did take me out of Colter/Lilith's story just a bit.
Still overall I really enjoyed this book and Colter and Lilith. And I really really liked how they got their happily ever after.

The cover and title hooked me instantly, and the story absolutely lived up to the promise. ’Til You Choke is a fast‑moving, shadow‑soaked romance that blends obsession, danger, and forbidden tension in a way that kept me glued to the pages.
Colter is the kind of morally gray MMC I fall for every time, raised in darkness, shaped by loyalty, and torn between the life he was built for and the girl he can’t stay away from. Lilith brings the perfect contrast: light, curiosity, and a quiet resilience that draws him in even when he knows he shouldn’t want her.
Their chemistry hits hard from the start, and the secret‑society backdrop adds a layer of intrigue that makes the whole world feel bigger, darker, and full of hidden motives. I loved the push‑pull between them, the tension simmering under every interaction, and the way their connection builds into something explosive.
This book didn’t disappoint for a second, dark, steamy, and exactly the kind of secret‑society romance I love sinking into.

I enjoyed a lot of things about the book, but the setting and the secret societies were a bit hard to understand and to follow.
I did love Lilith and Colter, although their slow burn went from zero to a million very quickly! Destiny absolutely came into play with the relationship that builds between them.
Years earlier, Colter actually saved Lilith's life when she was put into a sticky situation with a secret organization of college boys. Colter had just moved into the position of "The Ghost" within the society that he served, and he was sent to make their secret organization "disappear". And for some reason, Lilith is spared. Destiny steps in when her mother becomes engaged to Colter's father, placing Colter and Lilith into close proximity, making it difficult to deny their growing attraction to one another.
Ultimately, once it is all said and done, love wins. The last chapter....definitely my favorite!!!

I loved this book so much. It took me on a complete emotional rollercoaster from start to finish.
Colter is one of those characters you both love and hate, and that push and pull made him incredibly compelling. His intensity, his obsession, and the way his character evolves kept me completely hooked. Lilith was just as strong in her own way—torn between who she’s expected to be and what she actually wants. Watching her growth and internal conflict added so much depth to the story.
Their dynamic was written so well. It starts off tense and uncomfortable, with a lot of resistance and emotional friction, and slowly builds into something much more intense. The shift in their relationship felt earned, especially as Lilith begins to open up more as the story progresses.
This book blends dark themes, obsession, and romance in a way that feels immersive and emotionally charged. Definitely not a light read, but if you enjoy darker romance with complex characters and high tension, this one is absolutely worth it.
Til You Choke is the first book in the Until Ever After series. Lilith is doing everything she can to try to make a life for herself without having to rely on her mother, and her mother’s scheming ways. Unfortunately for Lilith she finds herself at the mercy of her mother’s upcoming wedding to a man Lilith has never met. When she finally does, she discovers her soon to be step-dad is one of the wealthiest men in Midnite City, and his son, Colter, is definitely someone she has heard about plenty of times but never thought she would ever meet. Not realizing that Colter is the man that saved her a few years earlier, she is drawn to him and despite her cold attitude towards him she can’t help but feel rejected when she does not have his attention. Colter finds himself struggling to be the entity he is supposed to be within the Veil feeling no emotions to feeling things he has never felt before and having an undeniable craving to be around Lilith. This book is full of twists, turns, secrets, truths and danger. Great start to a new series and can’t wait to see what comes next!!
I was really looking forward to this one because I love a good step-sibling, masked-man romance. Colter was raised to become an executioner, but everything shifted on his initiation day when he met Lilith, who was supposed to be his task. The first half had me hooked. It was fast-paced, their parents’ marriage raised the stakes, and watching him fall for her was compelling. The plot felt solid and engaging at the start.
The second half, though, didn’t hit the same. Teresa usually delivers strong plot with great spice, but this time the heat felt toned down. The pacing also became rushed, with several time skips that left me a bit disoriented. I found myself wondering what was happening and why certain things weren’t fully explored. Even though I flew through it in a couple of hours, I was left with quite a few unanswered questions.
This is my honest feedback for the ARC I received. Thank you, Teresa and Booksprout, for the opportunity.
A new author for me, so I wasn't really sure what to expect really but this book had me a little confused thinking I was missing something, and it took me a few tries before I could actually get into the book. The story follows Lilith Whitaker and Colter Crawford. Colter is Ghost, an assassin who works for the organization that controls Midnite City. Raised to be cold and emotionless, on Colter’s first assignment as Ghost, he is sent to kill a small cult, but save the girl they captured, Lilith. When Ghost rescues Lilith, something shifts, and for one he begins to feel something other than the urge to follow out orders. The story itself is alright, and there is enough happening that you want to keep reading, but I wouldn’t specify it as a romance since there is very little romantic happening and literally only one spicy scene and then.. the book was ending and I was left wondering what I just read since I was still trying to figure out what happened.
‘Til You Choke—is a dark, taboo romance by Teresa Wolf. If you like masked men and secret societies then you’ll enjoy this quick read! Colter is a masked enforcer for a secret society of privileged individuals fortunate enough to live within a wealthy city. Colter begins to open his eyes to the corruption within this secret society, but he isn’t sure what to do about it at first. The situation is made even more complicated when his father decides to remarry adding a stepmother and stepsister to the equation. Not only that, but the obvious intrigue and fascination between Colter and his stepsister Lilith certainly doesn’t help matters.
This book doesn’t spend a lot of time on the romance aspect but focuses more on the development of the plot. It actually gets pretty graphic on the violence as well so check the CW. Overall, it was a good read, and I say I can always make time for a Teresa Wolf read!
So first off I want to say I really enjoy this author but this book fell below the mark for me. There was a nice start leading into what could’ve been a very dark cat and mouse feel but then it kinda sizzled and flamed out. The lead up had me looking forward to the sizzle but then once they came together I felt like it just rushed through to the end and left me with a ‘this can’t be it’ vibe. The hidden society and its members intrigued, but then I was a bit lost on the Spirits job and meaning. Then it flew through to moms so great and finally broke but Ghost is all in with Lilith and then they are happily and easily together. Even the spice felt lackluster after the darkness I was expecting. But if you are looking for a quick thrill read to get your heart pumping a bit and like less spice with more implied darkness I say give it a go. This author still does it for me so looking forward to what’s next for her.

Lilith lost her dad as a kid and her mom has been dating man after man for one reason…power
She found Alister Crawford…. Turns out they were both using each other.
Alister was the head of a secret society cult “The Veil”. Where Colter his son had taken over the role of an enforcer.
“The Veil” saved Lilith once before and saving her a second time made the public aware the rumors were true. Which woke Colter up in realizing what his dad was doing, he was supposed to put “The Veil” first but was actually putting himself first by bringing in an outsider, Lilith’s mom, as a member of the leadership. “The Veil” doesn’t put up with that and he had to make a move.
While I did devoured the book: In the end, I wish the installed of Lilith and Colter was explored more. It seemed to have gone from him asking questions to get answers to her wishing he was around more to them in love?
Colter is the Ghost (or enforcer) for the Secret Society of the Veil that is formed of the big corporations who control everything. He's not supposed to have emotions or human connections. He is tasked to murder a cult like group of men who are planning to SA a young woman Lilith. Of course he begins to grow feelings for Lilith The plot is good - although I could have used a little more backstory on The Veil and how it was formed. When Colter does finally let go and let his "emotions" out well let's just say they come out in the best of ways. Lilith has been having dream for 3 years of the man who rescued her, and to find out it's her Step brother. Wow. This was a quick and enjoyable read. I genuinely liked the characters and their arc.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A gripping book if not a little confusing at times particularly the beginning, Lilith has plans but they’re thwarted by a dangerous turn of events, shes rescued by a masked man and for 3 yrs shes plagued by him and shes left wondering who he was. When her mother announces she is to marry she meets Colter who will soon be her stepbrother. The dislike is obvious but their attraction is far stronger. Colter is cold, dangerous and lacking in love due to a rather nasty excuse of a father but when he meets Lilith his cold heart is slowly melting. There’s danger close to home and Colter has to do whatever it takes to protect and save his love. I enjoyed following the MCs journey to being better people particularly the mmc and the sacrifice he made to be together. A darkish romance with a little steam but a good read.
I come here sadly and disappointed. I usually thoroughly enjoy Teresa' s works of art woven cleverly to pull me into her tales and imagination, but this one just didn't. It felt forced by both Lilith and Colter at times. It was a bit confusing in some parts, like what is happening here, but then at other parts they were enjoyable. I really wanted to DNF, but I was hoping it would all tie together and it just didn't for me.
I have read many of her books and they are usually extraordinarily intoxicating, but this was a "rushed feel" to it that didn't either pull me in or meet my expectations of her talent. I do look forward to reading more from her because like I said it she is usually very good at hooking me, but not this time, sadly. This one took me longer because I kept putting it down and i was not drawn to pick up again.
I have nothing but praise for this book. I absolutely loved it. Superbly written, it kept me in suspense until the end. One does expect a happy ending, at least for the main characters, but there are numerous ways it could have happened here. I was waiting wondering how the intrigue would be solved and I was not disappointed. The world imagined reminded me a little of the Cyberpunk video game - artificially created city, mega corporations, body replacement parts, dangers and secrets on every corner. The only complaint I had - it wasn't long enough. If I could ask for 400 pages in the next revision, please? 🥰.

‘Til You Choke is dark, seductive, dramatic, gripping, and eerie. Theresa Wolf has written a quality secret society romance, with well fleshed characters, and a nicely laid out plot line.
This story is full of spicy, steamy romance amid a dangerous, foreboding society cult. Lilith escapes a ritual death with the help of Ghost. The secret, cult’s assassin. Their connection is immediate and three years later their parents are to be married. Lilith is still haunted by that night. And the masked figure is closer than she could’ve ever believed. Colter is supposed to be aloof, no friends and no emotions. But he still remembers Lilith and can’t control his obsession. As the danger increases can Colter save Lilith? Can he do what needs to be done to escape The Veil? This is a fast paced read with a Happily Ever After.
Emotional..Non. Hmmm not sure. Ive bounced around with this review. Wasn't a fan... was a fan. I loved the genre. Secret society all in for it. Some parts seemed a lil rushed. So we have boy meets girl under some sketchy moonlight. He played her captain save a "woe" with disturbing consequences. And then a few years later time to get re-aquainted. Which is a direct miss for both, well until its not. His still small voice ever a reminder of who/what he is. She is all fire and sassy that barely conforms to keep her mother happy Secrets are wavering in the shadows, hmmm who's going to pay the truth price? Enjoy
A step sibling, secret society dark romance with just the right amount of obsession and an anti-hero that you can’t help but love! It’s a shorter read that has the creepy mysterious vibe down pat with the secret society, gives you touch her and die, and has Colter’s obsession with Lilith opening his eyes and making him question where his loyalties really lie and if the society’s motivation really is what they’ve always claimed. I loved the only for her feel this has, it is delightful to see that while Colter is loyal to the society he’s not blind to the fact it could be corrupt, and the intuitive trust Colter and Lilith have is fantastic.
I had so many questions and just when I thought I would get some answers, I was left even more intrigued. The attraction between Colter and Lilith is instant; she's drawn to the darkness and he's drawn to her light. The witty banter, mysterious happenings, and sizzling hot moments held me captivated. This dark secret society romance had me second-guessing everyone's motives. The only problem is this story was too short—and I wanted more!

This book really hooked me. I enjoyed the characters, the general storyline and the romance. It's easy to read and before you know it, hours have passed!
That being said, the ending felt a bit rushed and I was quite confused with the worldbuilding. I feel like I didn't fully grasp the workings of the society and the way it ended felt a bit random to me.
However, the writing was good, I really liked the characters and their dynamic and the spice definitely didn't disappoint! I'll probably read more of this author in the future!
