Don’t gloss over Sloss
If you are looking for a series that actually understands the assignment when it comes to progression fantasy, Dominus is exactly where you need to be. Marcus Sloss has been at this for a while but with this book you can really feel how much he has leveled up as an author. The writing is way tighter and the pacing is relentless. He finally found that sweet spot between high stakes action and actual character development.
Riki is easily one of the highlights here. Watching him evolve isn't just about his power creep, though that is definitely satisfying, it is about his mindset. He feels like a real person navigating an insane situation and his growth feels earned rather than just handed to him by the plot. It is genuinely fun to see him figure out the mechanics of his world and actually use his head for once.
And let’s be real, Sloss knows exactly what the fans want when it comes to the babes. They aren’t just cardboard cutouts or background trophies. They have distinct personalities and they actually contribute to the story. The chemistry is top tier and they are a huge part of why the world feels so lived in. You actually care about what happens to them when things go south.
If you are a fan of the litRPG genre this is a mandatory read. Marcus is at the top of his game and Riki’s journey is a total blast to follow. Stop sleeping on this one. If you want a story that hits hard and keeps you turning pages until 2 AM go grab Dominus. I’m recommending this to anyone who loves a well executed power fantasy.
