Crimson #2

Crimson Perfidy

Rate this book
THE DEVIL WAS INDEED THE MOST BEAUTIFUL ANGEL.

Every part of me—every cell of my being—lay at the feet of a merciless god.
All his lies, all his games—they call to me in the dark. His soul speaks to mine. I hide from the world just to feel his touch, just to have one taste.
And in those stolen moments, he murmurs promises of destruction—of my peace, of my sanity. Of me.
Still I fall harder, knowing full well that loving him will be the last mistake I ever make.

This is the second book of the Crimson Series. It cannot be read as a standalone.

I honestly don't know where to start, but the best thing about this book is the dynamic between the male leads. I love the banter, how they interact with each other, and most importantly, their with cach other relationship. We all know enimes to lovers is the best. And as for their character's personalities, I love that both of them are morally grey. And for me, possessive and obsessive are the most interesting tropes. As for the story, I like the story so far, but I feel like there should be a little more of world building. It's too much on just the characters and their interactions. The world feels like a fever dream sometimes. There is not much talk about the outside world or their surroundings or whatever is going on. And one thing I already love and want more in the next book is their banter, how they try to rile each other up, all the dialogues, they are just chefskiss, and the spice, they are top-notch. This is the thing I like most about this book, unlike others story where one is be possessive and the other is just all sunshine or grumpy. Both of them are unhinged. I want to see them protect each other from the world. I want them to confront their own feelings and express it to each other. As for the ratings, I would love to give it three and a half stars because there are room for many, many improvements, but I love this nonetheless. It's a good read.

I don't know where to start and how to end. I'm very glad I decided to give this book a try and how much i fall for this series. I absolutely love the dynamic between two MMCs. They are really perfect for each other. can't wait for the 3rd book ASAP. but I trust the author she will not disappoint us when it comes to her work.

SO GOOD. This is a real enemies to lovers. This second book is so buzzy because behind the hate everytime Ace and and Caiden see each other they realize they are falling hardddd. There is a lot of spyce scenes in this one but I see as a way of deepening their connection and obsession. The plot is so addictive. Reading especially Caiden struggel to keep the “plan” going even though he starts to fall for Ace and doesnt feel that happy on hurting or betraying Ace’s trust anymore…. buzzyyyy. The end omg I just know the last book is going to be painful but I can’t wait to read it.

Fav lines:

“Ace's eyes traveled over Caiden's face as if he were drinking him in. Caiden had been naked in front of many, but he felt more bare than ever as Ace's fingers rested gently on his cheekbones. Their breaths mingled in a rhythm of passion matching Caiden's thrusts.”

“He didn't want anyone else looking at what belonged to him. Caiden regarded Ace the same way he did his sculptures, his paintings his creations. Ace was his.
And no matter how illogical it was, Caiden wanted him for his eyes alone.”

“He was an addiction that ran so deep inside Caiden that getting sober would mean cutting himself open.”

“"Why can't you just walk away?" Ace asked at last.
"Because I don't want to," Caiden whispered. "Why can't you push me away?"

“He was well aware of the fact that Ace belonged on the list of lives he would inevitably destroy. Yet, until that fateful day arrived, Caiden would make sure he marked Ace's body as something belonging only to Caiden. He knew Ace would come to hate him one day, but on that day, Ace wouldn't be able to look at himself in the mirror without seeing Caiden's mark.”

“"I am the only one who gets to fuck you, do you understand? l am the only one who gets to hurt you. You are mine."

“However, somewhere along the way, it had become less about that and more about owning Caiden. Marking him, touching him, fucking him in ways no one ever had before. The primal need to etch his fingermarks onto Caiden's skin became the only driving force. He had craved breaking his skin and watching the blood drip as he fucked him.”

“That man one he had vowed to destroy, one who played the part of innocence so perfectly, one who whispered sweet nothings into his ear like he hadn't orchestrated an attack on him had become Caiden's anchor. The sound of Ace's breathing resurrected him, the smell of his skin scorched and consoled in equal amounts. Unknown even to Caiden himself, Ace had become the balm that kept the void at bay. The crinkle by his eyes, the deft of his fingers, the timber of his voice everything about Ace grounded Caiden to reality, tethering him when he felt himself slipping.”

“And that was the thing about Caiden he didn't just make Ace fall for him; he rewrote the very concept of Love in Ace's mind.”

“He no longer cared about self-preservation, because every part of him every cell of his being lay at the feet of the merciless god who had memorized the curves of his body as though his very life depended on it.”

“Every time his fingers glided over Ace's skin, something stirred deep inside him. Every press of his lips against Ace's sent a shockwave through him, awakening parts of him he didn't know existed.”

“Every touch, every taste of Ace pushed him further to the edge. If this was going to be his undoing, then so be it. He'd go down smiling. And when he ended up in hell, he'd have one thing to brag about he had tasted heaven in the man he had sworn to hate.”

“He had been fighting it, but as he looked at Ace's face, eyes heavy with desire, Caiden knew there was no winning this. The battle was futile. He needed Ace.
More than breath. More than anything.”

“It was always you, Ace. Always your reactions that gave me the satisfaction I craved."

"I'm sorry you can't trust me when I say this, but you make me feel like nobody ever has."

“You're my muse, my obsession. You're so deep into my skin that I want to claw myself open when you're not near just to get a glimpse of your face." Caiden's eyes glistened. "With you, I get to experience emotions the way normal people do. Every time I look at you, I feel. Every time I touch you, I feel.”

⭐ 5/5

⊹ | 𝘾𝙧𝙞𝙢𝙨𝙤𝙣 𝙋𝙚𝙧𝙛𝙞𝙙𝙮 by S.M. Tist is a dark M/M college romance. It is the second book in the 𝘊𝘳𝘪𝘮𝘴𝘰𝘯 series, and continues the story of Caiden Alistair and Ace Rykov. This book has themes that some readers may find triggering, so be sure to check the trigger warning list.

Omg, this book was just as good as the first, maybe even better, and that's not just because of the amount of steamy scenes we got. Before I get into my short review, let me say that if you haven't read the first book, then please go do that!! While the first book was just the start of the chaos between Caiden and Ace, in this book, we witness major developments in their relationship.

Even in the face of the forbidden nature of their relationship, Caiden and Ace find themselves uncontrollably drawn to each other at every turn. Tension is high, deception is strong, and the line between love and hate has long since blurred. In the end, loyalties are tested and confessions are made, but will that be enough to change the course of the toxic rivalry fiercely burning between them?

I'm not going to get too in-depth about the characters since my review of book one already involves a good overview. It's pertinent that you read the first book before reading this one, so I don't want to spoil too much.

Just know that compared to the first book, Caiden and Ace are acutely more aware of the feelings they have for each other but are still in serious denial. Which is understandable; they don't fully trust each other, but you can see the walls they both have up continue to come crumbling down even though they are still wary about each other's motives.

I swear there were so many moments in this book where they were so intimate or soft with each other, or where Caiden let down his guard for Ace to see the real him, that I devoured. I loved those moments because we got to see that even though they often say they hate one another, on some deeper level, their hearts know what their brains are having trouble coming to terms with. They are falling in love with the enemy.

Overall, this book was a perfect continuation of 𝘊𝘳𝘪𝘮𝘴𝘰𝘯 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘰𝘴, and I can't wait for book 3!! Caiden and Ace literally drive me insane, but I am so ready for them to realize that they mean more to each other than they even know. Additionally, I'm also still strongly here for Kian and Daire :).

I tried so hard to pace myself with this book so I wouldn’t have to suffer while waiting for book 3… and clearly, that plan failed.

That ending?? Caiden secretly recording his conversation with Ace for revenge LIKE WHAT DO YOU MEAN?! 🥲😭😡😩I was not prepared for that at all. Now I’m left here in shock, with a million questions, and absolutely no patience.
I need book 3 like yesterday.

I devoured the whole book in just 2 days. If I have to describe their entire relationship, I would define as pookie grumpy * chaotic psychopath. I love Caiden and Ace. Generally it's very difficult for the second book to pick up well from the first book but here the second book is like miles apart than he first book. I liked crimson chaos but perfidy became one of my favourite books and Tist became one of my favourite authors.
I love when books have show, don't tell energy and this book exactly is this. There's not a lot of telling and all their emotions and the micro expressions are shown very well. We can see Ace falling in love with Caiden and Caiden getting more and more intrigued by Ace and both of them struggling with their feelings especially Caiden and Ace feeling betrayed of the other person because of the misunderstandings of what happenned in the first book. It doesn't help that Caiden never clears the misunderstanding(because of a hidden motive) and Ace is unable to clear it because Caiden never shares anything with Ace.
In general, I hate miscommunication but this book handled it pretty well that you won't be annoyed by it but rather look forward for whatever is gonna happen. Spoiler alert: you are gonna hate Caiden at the end of the book because of the cliffhanger.
bonus point is there's lots of spice but the thing is we won't get bored of the smut because of the relationship developing between them. They both are too stubborn to talk properly and express themselves and therefoe they communicate everything while doing the act whether it's angry, jealousy, happiness, missing each other, any feelings(no pun intended), they express it freely during sex. So the spice became too beautiful to miss tbh.
Can't wait for the third book.

| ARC review |

Thank you to author Tist for including me in the arc team. Love her and her characters so much.

Psychopathic sculptor and his muse. This book is so deliciously spicy with a heart-wreaking longing and yearning. The push and pull between Caiden and Ace is INSANE.

The mutual obsession and possessiveness makes one blush and kick air. Their relationship or more accurately situationship kept me on my tip toes the entire time. You can't trust Caiden, but love him regardless. And Ace, my dear sweetheart. They're so down bad for each other, but too dump to acknowledge their emotions. I literally teared up at their tender moments. HOWEVER, the ending felt like a punch to the heart, already can't wait for the next book.

Caiden Alistair made it to my top 10 book boyfriends. I love him with a twisted passion. He and his boyfriend has my heart in the palms of their hands. They need to allowed themselves to embrace the love they have for one another. I'm obsessed.

Going to think about them now. The hottest boyfriends I have ever seen.

Spicy 🥵🔥

Honestly I loved the 2nd book way more than the 1st, it had more depth of the characters and didn't feel like a remake from previous books. Plus the spice in this was phenomenal and hot, this does leave on a cliff hanger which I'm not a fan of, but I hope the 3rd book is just as good as the 2nd💜🔥
