There was nothing Ophelia wanted better than to gouge Nikolai’s long-lashed, consuming blue eyes out with a butter knife and mail them to the rest of the Alvonich family. Too bad they were in a very public, very esteemed place – Mikhail’s wedding.
“You don’t think I’ll press the button?” Nikolai’s breath was warm and teasing in her ear.
Ophelia had no idea what possessed her to take up his challenge of a vibrating thong, except that it was too late to back out now. She turned to glance at the infuriating man beside her. “Honestly, I don’t care. It won’t affect me.”
“Sweet Ophelia,” he whispered, surprising her by flicking his tongue into her ear.
Jumping, she glared at him, ignoring the important guests at her table, her father included.
Before she could curse at Nikolai, he pressed the button, the swearwords turning to soft moans under her breath. Gripping the edge of the table, Ophelia felt the attack on her cl!t like a burn to her skin. Her father shot her a concerned look from across the table and Nikolai’s voice was again in her ear.
“Before the end of the night, Ophelia, we will f**k,” he promised, releasing his finger from the remote control.
Kimber Lee comes from South Africa and commutes to class on an elephant named Bill (not really). She started writing horror stories as a child and now, she writes erotica as an adult. Her favorite kind of hero is exotic and probably has a heavy accent. He’s weak when it comes to the heroine and a total badass outside the bedroom. If Kimber Lee could find a surgical way to be permanently joined to her laptop, she would. But until then, she’ll continue to be a night owl and write until dawn. When forced into daylight, she enjoys reading scary stories, Indian food and EDM. She dreams of going to Greece or Sweden because… accents. Oh, and the scenery.
3.5 stars! This was a fun, short read. Ophelia was a bit annoying and not the most mature character but Nikolai really carried the story. At first I didn't have the greatest impression of him but as the story unfolded I slowly started falling for him. His capacity to love and care was really something else and I did not expect that he was actually in love with Ophelia all this time!

I don't really like giving reviews for Kimber Lee's books since they're pretty short and there's not much to say about them. However, for this book, I think writing a review is a must.
I absolutely love Nikolai, and I don't know what it is about older men, but I tend to like them a lot ;). I just feel like they're more mature and understanding of women's emotions. Originally, I thought this was going to be an awkward story, seeing as Ophelia is Devin Shaw's daughter (from the DILF). Fortunately, it wasn't too bad. If anything, it made the story easier to sympathize with and it was of course very fun to see Devin act all fatherly.
As with all of Kimber Lee's other works, I wish there was less sex and perhaps more moving scenes. Don't get me wrong, she very much capable of incorporating moving scenarios in the stories but all the sex action is simply distracting. I feel like I've become immune to it simple from reading most of her works haha.
The VIP seems to be one of her better works... and now I feel like giving an overview review for all her works is better than separate, individual ones. It just seems better to compare them to one another since the stories are more or less going in the same direction with different elements (ex. older woman with younger guy, a girl cheating on her boyfriend with an ex, and so on). It all depends on whether your moral compass can accept it or not, because in the end, none of Kimber Lee's works are hate-able.
Kim, you never fail to disappoint. This is the second time I'm reading The VIP this month and, once again, I am completely, utterly mindblown. I don't know how you came up with half of the scenes in this book - whether from personal experience or your imagination - but you definitely wrote it perfectly. The sex scenes in this book are better then half of the ones I've read in bestsellers. You are singlehandedly carrying Wattpad, trust me. I love your content so much. Great job. 5/5, I would definitely recommend this to everyone.
I am so in love with all her books! This one was amazing, Nikolai sets my standards way to high lol. I loved the chemistry and Kim's writing, as usual, is absolutely flawless!
update on 22/05/2020 As I'm revamping and updating my whole Goodreads account, I can't help change some rankings around. There are many books I loved that I think I wouldn't love if I read them as adults. There are books I think I'd hate if I read them now. I don't think I'd hate this one, but certainly not love it the way I did. At the same time I feel I'd be untrue to a book, if I changed its rating now. Why? Cause books, like people, come into our lives at a certain moment, at the right moment in which reading them would make a change within us. I really believe in that. Therefore, I feel like at that point in my life I needed to read this and it happened that I really enjoyed it. I'd be untrue to deny it and I'd be a total jerk to my younger self to consider her opinions irrelevant or uncultured. I feel different towards books. It's natural, of course. But I don't want to feel bad about the younger me.
also, do not tell my mom at what age i read this... i am not proud.
Absolutely Amazing! Like all of Kim's other stories... This is one of those stories that you can't just put down. I keep coming back to read this beautifully written erotic novel and I can't help myself anymore. All of the men in the author's books are just--I don't even know how to put it! My heart starts beating fast when I read about them is one way to say it.
Used to be a 5 star, now I find some plot points more problematic than I did in my teens and don't love the nickname he uses for her. Overall, it's just a little too corny for my liking, but still one of the few smut novellas I'd chose to reread.
I definitely wish this story had been a little longer, which is the only reason it’s 4 stars. But I still loved it. To tell Ophelia’s story was an amazing idea. I also love how risqué it is. I can’t say much more without spoiling, but it’s absolutely fantastic. 😌
