This book came at the perfect time because I miss the World Cup so much lol
Just as good as Playing with forever. Rebecca Jenshak has done it again and she’s officially one of my favorite romance authors 🧚🏻♀️
Even though I’m an adult and this book follows high schoolers, it was still so entertaining and enjoyable. I read it in four days, so easy to read. The premise was so fun, cliche but still fun.
Super lighthearted. There was little to no spice (which was a plus because it’s not always needed). And I liked all the characters.
Loved seeing Lacey and Vaughn from Playing with forever and Claire and Austin from Stealing for keeps (even though I haven’t read Stealing for keeps yet). Not going to lie, Amanda AND Silas were getting on my nerves a little bit but something that I LOVE: characters that communicate. Oh my god! How much I love you Rebecca for not using the miscommunication trope. Thank you 🫶🏻🫶🏻

Faking for Now is a fake dating YA romance, where they both play soccer, and she moves schools her senior year (used to go to the rival school). This is the 3rd standalone in the Frost Lake High series. This series has been such a delight from Rebecca Jenshak who usually writes adult sports romances. There is something about reading coming-of-age characters with emotions and tensions running high, and their whole lives ahead of them with so many decisions to make.
In this book we follow Summer and Rowan. Rowan is one of the soccer players for Frost Lake High, he plays with the other players we have followed in the series. Summer is from a rival school but because of school boundaries changing, she got uprooted her senior year and had to transfer to FLH too. She’s wanting to fit in to the new school and with her new team, while he’s wanting to make an ex jealous…so they start fake dating, but very real feelings start to emerge!
I loved seeing the other characters in the series in this one all make appearances. I definitely felt for both Rowan and Summer. Her trying to find her place and be accepted with her new team. Him realizing his parents don’t know much about him since they’ve always put their careers first and travel/are away from home more often than they’re home. It was sweet seeing Rowan and Summer’s connection with one another and seeing how the fake dating played out! All the soccer time was fun and he was her older brother’s former soccer rival/her brother hates him. The epilogue was definitely fun!

I ADORE this series! I'm not a big YA reader (I'd argue this is the least-YA book in the series, but I'll get more into that in a second), but these books are some of the most wholesome and entertaining stories set in high school that I've read and I will read 100 more if Rebecca Jenshak keeps writing them.
There's something so different about reading high school based stories, and I understand it's not for everyone, but being swept up in character conflicts like overbearing parents, the forced proximity of seeing your crush at school every day, the drama that is unavoidable for teenagers, figuring out what life looks like after high school, sporting events or school dances- it all just feels very nostalgic and I love it.
I will say this wasn't my favorite in the series so far, but I love how the FMC was also a soccer player and how we got to see glimpses of the four characters from the previous books! And like I said above, for being a YA story, this book has some spicy content... so just proceed with caution on that front. But excited to see if this series continues!

This one sucked me in so fast! I absolutely loved Rowan & summer! I was waiting for his story and it didn’t disappoint!!
Summer is the new girl and just trying to be excepted at the new school, Rowan immediately is pulled to her & the banter between them is perfection!! Rowan is also struggling with his own family struggles, but watching him pull to summer & help her feel like she has a place made my heart swoon!! The fake dating between these two was so cute and fun!!
This book has so many lovable characters and I loved getting to see the other couples from this series!! If you love fun characters, banter, chemistry, and a slow burn that will have you falling right along with them, this is definitely for you!!

I absolutely loved Summer and Rowan! The fake dating trope is one of my favorites and it completely worked for them. They were such a cute couple, and while the story definitely had some cheesy moments, it felt exactly right for a YA romance. Their banter, chemistry, and the way they slowly became each other’s biggest supporters made it impossible not to root for them.
What I loved most was how Rebecca Jenshak captured what it feels like to be a high school senior. At that age, every decision feels like it will shape the rest of your life, and every problem seems so much bigger than it probably is. Add in Summer having to start at a brand-new school during her senior year. I loved getting to see both Summer and Rowan grow while also helping each other become more confident.
There’s something comforting about returning to characters you love and this book continues to remind me why I enjoy Rebecca Jenshak’s writing so much.

3.5 stars. While I found this to be a satisfying conclusion to the Frost Lake High series (at least, I think it’s the final book based on the epilogue and the acknowledgements), it didn’t shine for me the way the previous book did. That being said, I still stayed up late to finish it.
Due to the redrawing of district lines, Summer Lindsey had to transfer to her rival high school, Frost Lake, for her senior year. To make matters worse, her new soccer team not only doesn’t welcome her, but they are also openly suspicious of her intentions for joining the team. Meanwhile, Rowan Blakenship, the party-loving and easygoing member of the boys’ team, has problems of his own. He thought he would get back together with his ex, Amanda, at the end of the summer, but she doesn’t seem interested. Plus, his parents are pushing for a college plan that he doesn’t like at all. He decides to propose a fake dating relationship to Summer to improve both of their situations: Summer will gain clout on her team and get an insider connection to the head of admissions at the local university, and Rowan will make Amanda jealous. But, the lines between what’s real and what’s fake quickly begin to blur.
Summer has quite a compelling storyline and not one that I have read a lot. Seeing how she navigated her complex situation kept me going throughout the book. I also enjoyed Amanda as the villain. On the other hand, Rowan had more of a familiar story, and his side of things was more predictable. Each chapter mostly alternates between Rowan’s and Summer’s points of view, and sometimes, it was hard to tell/remember whose chapter it was, which was confusing and a weakness of the overall writing.
One element that was inconsistent with the previous book was how teen partying was described. In Playing with Forever, there was a lot more drinking, whereas in this book, there was some drinking, but nonalcoholic options were always mentioned, and it seemed like it was mostly other people, not the soccer players, who were drunk (with one major exception). This book centers on the same group of friends, so I found this inconsistency odd. Similarly, there was a much more explicit intimacy scene in this book, so I feel like despite less partying being described, this book might be geared to a slightly older audience.
However, my main issue with the book was the premise for the fake relationship. It didn’t have a strong backbone and was entirely predictable, even with some enemies-to-lovers mixed in. I don’t think my students would be as critical, but I had higher hopes for it due to enjoying the previous book so much and liking Summer as a character. Still, this was a breezy summer read and I am looking forward to going back to the first book to complete the trilogy!

Faking for Now was such a fun, sweet, swoony addition to the series, and Rowan absolutely deserved his own story. He became such an easy favorite side character in the first two books, but seeing him fully shine here? Loved it.
Summer is starting her senior year at a rival school after a sudden boundary change completely flips her plans. New school. New teammates. New everything. All she wants is to survive the year and keep playing the game she loves.
Rowan has his own version of pressure. Everyone thinks they know exactly who he is and what his future should look like, but he is starting to realize his dreams might not match the plan everyone else has for him.
Then comes the fake dating arrangement.
Rowan helps Summer fit in with her new team, and Summer helps make his ex jealous. Simple. Fake. No feelings.
Obviously, that goes perfectly.
I loved how naturally Summer and Rowan’s relationship developed. She first catches his attention with her confidence and talent on the soccer field, and from there their connection grows from friendship to fake dating to something that feels so real and right.
Their dynamic was sweet, easy, and full of that young love warmth that makes sports romance so fun to read.
And the friend group?
Perfection.
Getting more of Claire, Austin, Lacey, and Vaughn made me want to reread the first two books immediately. This series has such a cozy, addictive little world, and I am absolutely hoping we get even more stories set here.

summer and rowan are cute together. i enjoyed seeing them develop a friendship in their fake dating scheme (aka actually falling for one another) hehe. i was rooting for summer the entire time to have a good senior year and find friends/a support system <3 i also was rooting for rowan to stand up to his parents, and pursue what he wants, not what they want.

summer and rowan are cute together. i enjoyed seeing them develop a friendship in their fake dating scheme (aka actually falling for one another) hehe. i was rooting for summer the entire time to have a good senior year and find friends/a support system <3 i also was rooting for rowan to stand up to his parents, and pursue what he wants, not what they want.

Faking for Now by Rebecca Jenshak was a sweet and swoony YA sports romance that left me downright giddy in all the best ways. I couldn’t get enough of Summer and Rowan’s fake dating to finally chemistry that had me longing for these two to achieve all their goals and find a way to truly be together. I admired Summer’s persistence and strength to make the best out of her new school soccer situation, and her reluctance to trust Rowan. Rowan was a bright charming ray of sunshine, and I loved how he never gave up on Summer being there for her even when she didn’t know she needed him. Their undeniable, adorable chemistry was anything but fake, and I loved how much these two ended up comforting and supporting each other. Each couple in this Frost Lake High series always has me kicking my feet with so much delight.
Overall, I LOVED this book. If you are a fan of a YA sports romance with a new to school dedicated hockey player, a go-with-the-flow hunky hero, lots of soccer, high school drama, new teammates, college dreams, finding your own path for the future, parent support, faking dating your brother’s rival, light steam, intimate conversations, love declarations, and a HEA that makes the future look bright, then you will love Summer and Rowan’s story. This book was such a fun read. The high school romance was done really well and brought me back to my own years in high school. I am obsessed with this world! Our story starts out with Summer being forced to move to a new school due to boundary changes and suddenly her former rivals are now her teammates. She decides to fake date Rowan to help him make another girl jealous and her make friends since he’s popular.
The whole dynamic with the team and the new school was absolute perfection. I felt like our FMC had just enough anxiety mixed with confidence and found myself just loving Summer. Rowan was a funny, caring and sweet. I found myself thinking “aww” so many times with how thoughtful he was to Summer, even before he started falling for her. As with the other books from Jenshak, the third act break up was just enough to provide friction but kept you rooting for the characters the entire time. This was such an addictive and entertaining book and I can’t wait for more!

I really loved the book. Such a great and easy read, I finished in a day.
I love getting to read a YA book and just being able to look back at teenagers and what they go through and kind of reminisce in a way. It takes me back and I get fond memories.
I’ve loved Rowan from the start. He was always the class clown, making people laugh. I think it was a defense mechanism as his parents weren’t always there for him. He had everything in life, but no support. His parents barely knew him. That is what hurts my heart the most. I’m pretty sure he would do anything for anyone.
Summer was such a great fit. She was a hard worker and had parents who were there for her, but growing up was a more of a struggle financially.
I loved the aspect of everything on this book, some characters made me mad, but I guess there are always mean girls in high school! Showing support for Michigan and also being up Valley U! Loved that!! And future soccer Valley U books??!!

Right before senior year the school lines are redrawn, putting Summer at Frost Lake High instead of Oakley. Her new teammates hate her, and rightly so when you’ve spent three years playing against each other. Rowan is Frost Lake’s golden boy. Athletic, popular, charming and always up for a good time. Everyone loves him. Especially the girls.
Every other chapter was a party, soccer, random event, and more parties. There wasn’t a huge connection between Rowan and Summer during their whole fake relationship. Honestly? It was kind of rushed. When I saw this was available for request I might have squealed! I deeply enjoyed the first two books in this series, seriously it took me a day and a half, and I enjoyed this one just as much. As an avid YA reader, I'm always happy to read the universal fake dating troupe, this was the perfect read for that feeling. Summer changes school in her senior year of high school due to some unfortunate city boundaries, well not so unfortunate. When Summer and her brothers rival, Rowan, strike up a fake dating deal, things go not so much as planned. With longing looks, not-so-friendly tension, and pizza dates that don't seem fake, we all know how this will go down. I am beyond obsessed with Frost Lake High and the world Jenshak created. Rowan became an easy favorite side character in the first two books, and he absolutely shined in his own story. I loved how Summer first caught his attention with her confidence and talent on the soccer field, and how their relationship naturally evolved from friendship to fake dating and then into something so much more. Like the first two books in the series, the friend group was perfection. Getting more of Claire, Austin, Lacey, and Vaughn made me want to reread the first two books immediately. I really hope we get even more stories set in this universe!

This series is so fun and brings me back to high school and navigating friendships and relationships. This is book 3 of the Frost Lake High YA romance series. This one follows Summer and Rowan who are both on the soccer team. They start out fake dating to help her fit in better with her team and to make his ex jealous. Their relationship was cute and I like how it progressed into more. This book had me smiling and rooting for these two. I loved seeing the couples from the other books also! I love Rebecca Jenshak's writing and her adult romance books. Even though this is YA, it is still a sweet and fun read.

A adorable fake romance. What happens when you are forced to switch school your senior year…and your new soccer team hates you?!? You start a fake relationship with on of your teammates ex boyfriends of course. Did I mention that he is also your brothers biggest rival…yep complicated. Summer and Rowan enter a fake relationship pretty quickly and it getting extremely entertaining from there. This is a fun read with an adorable story that I really enjoyed. Summer and Rowan had fun banter and learned that you don’t really know someone until you start asking questions. This is a great series with fun stories being told….bring on the next book.

Oh the nostalgia of high school. This YA series was such a fun read full of some extremely likable characters. I adore Summer and her fight to be part of the team even though moving schools senior year was not part of her plan. Rowan is Mr popularity and convinces Summer to fake fake yo help hik win back his ex while helping her get i to her dream school. A few rules like no kissing and no falling for each other get blurrry. These two were so sweet and the slow quite way they both fall mske me emo.

Faking For Now is a continuation of the Frost Lake High series. I’ve loved Rowan’s character since book 1, so I was excited to see his story unfold. I loved seeing his relationship with Summer. Summer was put in such a hard circumstance being forced to go to Frost Lake for her senior year. Rowan is such a good guy trying to help her out even before the fake dating. I loved seeing their relationship develop. Another Rebecca Jenshak book that I absolutely love!
