A Rich Complexity

It’s difficult to ascertain today if we are reading something generated by a human author, artificial intelligence, or a rich complexity of both. This book was rich and detailed enough to let me know that there was humanity in the writing. The relationship, cultural significance, and overt richness were the markers.I thoroughly enjoyed reading this because of the depth of the relationship established between Reagan and Mari. The language is lyrical, lush and lingers for the reader in a meaningful way. Yet there were overt and sometimes glaring mistakes that led me to believe it was not fully human authored. As an avid reader, an avid reader of women, loving women romance, I am conflicted about this. There’s no denying that I was deeply touched by what I read in this book. Yet, the complexity of knowing that you’re reading something that is not truly generated and formulated from someone’s own mind and hand is one that I will continue to grapple with. I landed on a four star review because at the end of the day I went with the visceral response that I had to the writing. I will continue to navigate this because I suspect it won’t be changing anytime soon. I’m just not sure where that leaves me as a reader. I’m not sure where that leaves the authors that are utilizing artificial intelligence, and whether they can truly be considered authors, if the work is not truly all theirs.

“Where The River Bends” by Edelina Maris is a beautiful book. I recognized that before I had made it halfway through and that feeling carried on until the end. It’s intelligent. Intense. Thought-provoking. Gentle. The connection between Marisol and Reagan is evident from the moment they first meet in a church basement. They share an instant attraction that borders on love at first sight. This is a love story between two women who have denied a part of themselves for most of their lives. Their meeting is a catalyst that can’t be denied. This book is filled with longing and self-realization. Marisol and Reagan’s chemistry upon meeting is at the molecular level and it intensifies with every page. They navigate their cultural differences with compromise and empathy; family issues are met head-on with dignity and resolve. Reagan’s break-up with her long-term boyfriend is the gentlest and kindest dissolution I’ve ever read! It’s a beautiful book. It gets you in the feels and stays there.

Truly Beautiful

This book Will take you on a journey not tell a tale. This book is about families and countries and all of us meshing together in our own messy ways. This book is about acceptance of oneself and ones family. It is beautifully written and flows with Grace and Poetry. I highlighted so many passages in this book! It is a new favorite! Can't wait to read what else this author comes up with!

I can’t say enough

This book wrecked me, made me feel emotions that wanted to burst out from my heart! Mari and Reagan meet and fall in love but oh the obstacles in their way seem almost insurmountable. But slow and steady win the race and it is true in love stories too! Read this book-was a KU pickup but I am buying this book! 5 🌟
