We Grieve Our Losses offers such a meaningful and often-overlooked perspective on grief. We tend to associate grief almost exclusively with the death of a loved one or a major, tragic life event. What we often forget is that grief can also be present in the smaller, quieter transitions of life—moving out of your parents’ home, going to college, graduating, getting married, having children, starting a new job, and so many other changes that shape our lives.
This book brings so much awareness to that reality. It reminds us that we all experience grief in some capacity, even when we may not recognize it as grief. It beautifully guides the reader through approaching and processing grief through biblical truth, offering both comfort and encouragement along the way.
One of the things I appreciated most was how the book helps you name your wounds, no matter how big or small they may seem, and gives you space to acknowledge and process the emotions that come with them. It offers a different perspective that can bring so much clarity and comfort to experiences we may have previously struggled to understand.
As someone who never really thought I had experienced grief because I had not lost a loved one or experienced a major tragedy, this book helped me recognize and understand some of the uncomfortable emotions I had been carrying through different life transitions. It gave me language for feelings I didn’t realize were connected to grief and reminded me that those feelings are valid.
This is a beautifully written, thoughtful, and encouraging book. I would highly recommend it to anyone, especially someone who may think, “My grief isn’t big enough to count.” Grief doesn’t always look the way we expect it to, and this book does a wonderful job of helping us slow down, acknowledge our losses, and encounter God in the midst of them.

I have had the privilege of learning from Randy’s teaching as a pastor for many years, and one thing I’ve always appreciated is his ability to take something deeply meaningful and make it practical for everyday life. We Grieve Our Losses is such a beautiful example of that.
This book is obviously incredibly valuable for anyone walking through a significant loss, but I honestly think Randy’s teaching on grief is something everyone can learn from, even if you wouldn’t consider yourself to be “grieving” anything really heavy right now.
If I’ve learned anything from Randy, It’s that so much of life comes back to healthy grief… The things we’ve lost, the things that didn’t turn out the way we hoped, the relationships that changed, the versions of ourselves we’ve had to leave behind, and the disappointments we may not even realize we’re still carrying.
Some people avoid grieving because they don’t want to get stuck in it, but Randy teaches how to healthily move through it with God to true freedom. He also doesn’t encourage us to rush past our disappointments or pretend they don’t hurt, but invites us to be honest about them... and I have seen countless people find so much freedom through his counsel specifically!
We Grieve Our Losses is practical, wise, honest, and deeply vulnerable. Whether you are in the middle of a loss or simply want to better understand your own story and the people you love, I genuinely believe there is something here for you!
So grateful to see this book in the world and even more grateful for the years of faithful obedience and teaching that led to it.

Review of advance copy received from Author
I very much enjoyed We Grieve Our Losses by Randy Hemphill. The guide/workbook an takes a in-depth look into how the Christian believer can name what He/She needs to grieve, how to express anger and sadness, and ultimately let God father them in their grief to forgive and heal. Each chapter was intricately woven with passages from The Bible that were relevant and well thought out. The guide is filled with reflection questions and mid chapter activities. I’d recommend seriously taking your time with this workbook as I did. There is a lot of care and love for the reader that has been knit by the author and it shows in the final result.
