This book is just what I needed after years of going through infertility and the ups and downs of adoption. It was great reading and feeling I was not alone in my journey of anger towards God and questioning of why he'd "do this to me." I loved how the book talked about infertility in the Bible and all the different woman who struggled as I didn't realize infertility stories were all over the Bible. It was a great read to remind myself that I'm not alone in this journey and other woman are experiencing the same ups and downs. Heather's story was also touching to read of her faith journey through her infertility. A must read for anyone struggling with infertility and questioning "why me?"

As an outsider looking in on infertility I highly recommend this book.
I love how the author intertwined her own journey while exploring the journey of women in the Bible who also suffered infertility.
It provided insight on the women of the Bible and their journeys’, heartfelt support for others going through infertility and some sage advice for those journeying along side.

While I read, I couldn’t help but consider how easily this could be used as a Bible study for infertility groups, or a bridge between the infertile journey and their supports!

This book deeply moved me and gave me a greater understanding of the quiet ache, loneliness, and complicated hope so many women carry through infertility.

Heather writes with honesty and courage, blending her personal story with rich biblical insight. The stories of Sarah, Rebekah, Rachel, and Hannah felt fresh and deeply human—I’ll never read them the same way again.

What stood out most is that this book doesn’t offer clichés or quick fixes. Instead, it creates space for grief, questions, and encountering God in the waiting.

This is a meaningful read for both those walking through infertility and those wanting to better understand and support them.

I really enjoyed this book by Heather LaVigne. I appreciated how she explored the presence of infertility throughout the Bible while also sharing pieces of her own personal journey.

As someone who has also walked the infertility journey, I truly related to the honest way she described walking through infertility while being surrounded by pregnant women, babies, and the constant questions about when you’re going to have kids. That part felt very real.

If infertility has touched your life in any way, this is a thoughtful read.

This book is truly a gift to all who read it. The author is honest, raw, and vulnerable – I found myself laughing then crying, touched by the author's heartfelt emotion and honesty. It is not only a must-read for those experiencing infertility or those supporting others going through infertility, but also for women (or men) to help support other women through the journey of motherhood. The author does a wonderful job of helping women feel seen, understood, loved, and cared for. Highly recommend grabbing a cup of coffee and enjoying the book!

Though I've never struggled with infertility, I found this book to be very helpful to help me understand families with this problem. I empathized with the author as she shared her pain and honest emotions. She wisely gave fresh insights into familiar scriptures from the lens of a woman suffering with infertility. I also feel better equipped on what to say, and especially what not to say, to women struggling with infertility, thanks to this book. It's a thoughtful read that will help many.

Barren is a touching and inspirational journey through infertility and pregnancy loss. Barren encourages readers through biblical examples of women who had the same struggles and reminds us of Jesus’ promises and love. I recommend the book to anyone struggling with loss of a dream or expectation.

Such an encouraging read. I went through infertility and loss and this book shared someone else's story that made me realize I'm not alone, along with encouraging stories from the Bible and scripture to refer to. This book is a must-read for anyone going through infertility. It really captures the raw emotions of the heartbreak and turmoil such a journey entails, but also offers calm hope and peace to rely on while facing such challenges. It’s easy to read and I love how Heather relates her personal journey and continuously reiterates the fact that we are never alone- providing hope and courage through the darkest days.
