• Written in an easy-to-comprehend style to make math concepts accessible
some were super easy (the geometry) some was hard (the factoring of fractions) some mental gymnastics to understand the answers as they don't show the math all the time only talk about how they go the answers ( and had lot had errors in them) onward to a "real" algebra textbook now.
While I appreciate this book, I am a little irked at the quality of the editing. I have already found at least three mistakes. Where there should have been a -8, there was a -7, for example in a couple of the answers in the appendix. I would love to know that there is a revamped version somewhere with the correct answers inside so that newbies to pre-algebra, don't think they are going bonkers because their answers are not turning out the way they should be turning out as per the appendix.
I also yearn for some deeper explanations on some of the points. The book at times is not thorough enough. I prefer the Demystified series for math.
I enjoyed this book. It had a lot of information and I learned plenty from it. It was a nice supplement to the algebra 1-2 class I am taking. However, I didn't appreciate how unclear some of the material was, and there were errors in their grammar. It only deserves three stars in my opinion.
I think I'm done with the Idiot's Guides and For Dummies series'. This is going back to the bookstore because I keep doing the problems correctly, only to find that the answer keys are wrong.
A copy of my daughter's text book...but in really tiny print. Not sure how this is for idiot's...except if they mean I'm an idiot for buying this book.
