Fate – A wonderful happenstance sometimes but other times it feels like a first class ticket on the crazy train and all you can do is laugh like a loon. Two people thrown together by fate’s fickle Drake Malone – rookie CIA agent, grandson of a career CIA man who had told Drake stories when he was a boy about the beautiful girl he would save one day and now here Drake was with his first big case and whose face was staring back at him from the case folder? The granddaughter of his grandfather’s CIA partner – what are the odds of that? Dumb f-in luck or fate kicking him in the nut-sack? Amalie Michaels – granddaughter of a CIA man who never told her what he did for a living because he wanted to protect her. Tough as nails and stronger than anything after losing both her parents at a young age. Holding a dangerous secret that she didn’t even know she had. And here she was staring at the man who had the exact same face and name as the man she dreamed up in her head when she was in high school who would come one day and heal her broken heart. How was it possible that he was real? Dumb f-in luck or fate bitch-slapping her? Only time will tell if fate has dealt them a cruel hand or the chance of a lifetime. Contains graphic sexual situations including M/F, M/M and M/M/F. Recommended for adults and people who love scorching hot love. Not a cliffhanger - While this is the first in a series it is an HEA standalone whose characters will continue as secondary characters in other books.
Kendel Duncan is the pen name for Author Dara Nelson. Why did I choose a pen name? Simple – different genres. I started out writing M/F paranormal romance books, vampires and such. And while I still do love a good vampire tale – it’s the M/F part that guided me to separate my writing. My characters changed. They let me know that my heart, my love, my joy was in writing M/M fiction so that is where I am firmly ensconced and where I plan to stay. So a little about the lady behind the curtain: After growing up in Northern California, I now call the Seattle-Tacoma area of the beautiful Pacific Northwest my home. I am passionate about writing, about photography, about my family, my husband, my kids, about nature....basically I’m passionate about everything in my life - and that shows through in my romance/erotica/suspense novels. When I am not writing, you can usually find me hiking somewhere around Mt. Rainier or visiting with the many animals on my farm. First and foremost, I am a writer. It's not what I do, it's what I am. It's my lifeblood, it's my heart, it is what makes my soul sing. It is from that passion that I choose to give back, that I reach out to other authors to offer tips, suggestions, help and guidance. And also to the incredible LGBTQ community that I now firmly hold in my embrace. Because we all have a voice....and it deserves to be heard.
Ok. Because I know how some of you are, and it's not a judgement, I want to warn you this first book is probably close to 75% m/f relationship/sex. The first 50% of the book is most of that m/f. Now after that it does change to m/m/f and m/m, with the possibility of m/m/m. There's a hint of the last. But for those of you who can't handle the m/f, I want to warn you first. Like I said. No judgement. I just know some of you don't care for it. Now having said that, overall I liked the book. I definitely want to read on and see what happens. However, for me personally, for me, I wish there was more of a plot. The plot in itself was good, but it felt like the book focused more on the sexual tension and the sex itself. Which is not a bad thing if that's your thing. For me, I just want some more plot. The story starts out with Drake Malone taking over an apartment next door to Amalie to keep an eye on her. He's undercover for the CIA and is trying to protect her, because someone is after her. For what, Drake doesn't know yet. It's his job to find out while protecting her. If he could stop watching her body and having to whack off, it might go a little faster. And now his partner and mentor, Brent is involved, because the danger is getting very close. Drake finally finds out where something might be hidden, now they have to find out what. And when they do, it's shocking. Corruption in places they didn't expect. While they are trying to solve this case, Brent is helping Drake figure out something about himself. And Amalie is very on board. But with the danger, can things last? And if they survive, they have to figure out how these relationships are going to work. Because Brent has a boyfriend who's now involved as well. So like I said, the first 50% of the book deals more with Drake and Amalie and their relationship. A tiny bit of Brent and his new bf are in there but after that is when the menage comes along. For Drake it's tough because he really wants to tell Amalie what's going on from the beginning, but he knows he can't. It's hard to see her and know he's withholding information. He knows his life is a partial like she is seeing. So that gives you a glimpse in how Drake really is. He's a kind and honest man. Amalie is tough. But she's still a lady. She's just one who will kick your ass and not blink. There's a funny story in that too. But Brent’s goofy ass is what kept me rolling in this book. He has no filter whatsoever. Absolutely none. He says what he thinks, flirts with whoever and has the confidence to back up his claims. He's had straight men come for him for experiments, so he knows he's got it. And he's cocky for sure. His new bf has his hands full for sure. What I really liked, though, was the plot. There were secrets to be found, assassins trying to kill them. It's a race against time. And shocks in what they do find. And with what they were hinting they found in one area makes me curious how far up this corruption goes. That's the fun part for me. I hope you guys like it. Give it a try. See what you think.
This is an absolutely fantastic introduction to the BLACK OPS HEROES SERIES. These seem to be the main base characters. Drake, sexy, smooth but on his first deep undercover assignment. Amalie, beautiful, sexy and clueless that she is in any kind of danger. When Drake and Amalie meet they are drawn to each other. Brent is Drake's trainer and partner on this case. JD is an undercover U.S. Marshal that Brent hooks up with in a bar. This is hot, steamy and includes a lot of sinfully, delicious sexy scenes between various partners in various positions. BTW, NO cheating happened. This has a terrific back story. I'm way behind in starting this series, but hey, better late than never. I HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!!!!
this left me with some questions and some confusion.. but overall i really enjoyed it.. it was a good story and had lots of sexyness which is always fun... i am curious to read more of this series and see where it goes..
Wow! Drake Malone is my first time reading a Kendel Duncan novel. If the rest of the Black Ops series is anything like this one, I will be devouring them all quickly.
It's a fantastic mix of MF, MM, and MMF relationships. It starts with Drake meeting Amalie when he's assigned to protecting her, and them having an instant attraction. When they do get together, it is hot! As for the danger, it is well written, and a little fun, as Amalie has no idea what's going on.
We also get to follow as Drake's partner, Brent, hooks up with JD. Their story is fun and also sexy. The whole book is riveting, intriguing, and an entertaining ride. There's extra steamy moments between different parings, and it's deliciously fun. And it all builds up for what appears to be a fantastic series. I can't wait to indulge in the rest of the books.
Drake Malone is written in a compelling style, with deep character development, a fun flow, and great twists and turns. I highly recommend it.
This book has me gripped from the first word to the last! The characters are so captivating it makes it hard to put down. Drake is watching her and he can feel the pull towards her. He's going to do all he can including giving his life to protect her. Amalie likes him from the start and when she meets him outside the coffee shop she works at, she is so pleased. Brent has their backs but he feels the heat with Drake. Brent meets JD and can't believe how he feels towards him. The underlying story that runs along this book will keep you hooked. There are many twists and turns that you aren't expecting. I can't wait to read the rest of the series.
I wasn’t so sure I would like this book but was pleasantly surprised when it turned out to be this good. If you’re looking for a romance novel with some action and a whole lot of smut this book’s for you.
This is good if you want just mostly unbelievable erotica with no character development or story line. The characters were flat and uninteresting. The storyline was unbelievable. It was very instalove, no jealousy, and orgies galore. I found myself rolling my eyes and skimming through the last 30%. Glad I read this using KU and I have no interest in reading the rest of the series.
