My review on Amazon:
This was a really enjoyable read, the setting being especially well suited to the subject matter: a wife being taken advantage of and subjected to the cruelties of the period. If you enjoy bondage and very erotic subject matter, then this is for you. The various bondage items were well described and deployed and fit well in the context that was presented.
No spoilers, but the ending was satisfying as well.
Definitely recommended.

Letto a salti. L'A. incentra la sua storia sulla condizione di totale subalternità della donna nei confronti del marito in epoca vittoriana, aggiungendo e in parte esagerando elementi 'storici' come la cura dell'isteria e il ricorso a diagnosi di 'infermità mentale'.
È subito chiaro che l'intento dell'A. è quello di produrre un romanzo erotico sado-maso, ma il tempo da lui dedicato a descrivere i vari strumenti di contenimento e le situazioni di tortura (sessuale e psicologica) finiscono con il deprivare il lettore di un vero coinvolgimento emotivo.
Scrivere un buon romanzo erotico è, credo, altrettanto difficile che scrivere un buon poliziesco: per decretarne la riuscita non basta la continua e infine monotona ripetizione di situazioni 'hard'.
Ogni autore che si rispetti dovrebbe tenere a mente la famosa frase attribuita, forse falsamente, a Marilyn Monroe: «Il cervello è il più potente organo sessuale dell'essere umano, ma la maggior parte delle persone lo dimentica perché lo tiene tra le orecchie».
