Freedom and Creation in the Abrahamic Traditions

Rate this book
In "Freedom and Creation in the Three Traditions," David Burrell examines the way in which Aristotelian philosophical thought is interpreted within the Jewish, Islamic, and Christian faiths. Specifically, Burrell relates each faith by comparing the ways in which the individuals of each tradition view their active roles in response to God's creative initiation. The second segment of his pamphlet expounds upon the particular ways in which Jewish and Muslim thinkers have influenced Christian philosophers, most notably Thomas Aquinas. By doing so, Burrell traces some modern Christian theological perceptions to their origins. This booklet is recommended for those interested in the profound connections between the universal intellectual and spiritual realms.
