From enemies to allies…

When archaeologist Isabel Dawson stumbles upon an unconscious man deep in the Alaskan wilderness, her survival skills are put to the test. She tends his wounds and drags him to shelter, only to discover she’s saved the life of Raptor CEO Alec Ravissant—the man who may have covered up her brother’s murder to save his senatorial campaign.

With no memory of the assault that landed him five miles deep in the forest, Alec doesn’t know what to believe when he wakes in the clutches of the beautiful redhead who blames him for her brother’s death, but he quickly realizes he needs her help to uncover the truth about his lost hours.

Isabel never imagined she’d find herself allied with Alec, and he’s the last man she ever expected to find attractive. But the former Army Ranger-turned-politician proves seductively charming, and he’s determined to win much more than her vote. When their quest for answers puts Isabel in the crosshairs, Alec must risk everything—his company, his campaign, and his life—to protect her.

USA Today bestselling author Rachel Grant also writes thrillers as R.S. Grant. She worked for over a decade as a professional archaeologist and mines her experiences for storylines and settings, which are as diverse as excavating a cemetery underneath an historic art museum in San Francisco, survey and excavation of many prehistoric Native American sites in the Pacific Northwest, researching an historic concrete house in Virginia (inspiration for her debut novel, CONCRETE EVIDENCE), and mapping a seventeenth century Spanish and Dutch fort on the island of Sint Maarten in the Caribbean (which provided inspiration for the island and fort described in CRASH SITE).

She lives in the Pacific Northwest with her archaeologist husband and demanding cat.

Super conflicted about this read because the characters were interesting and engaging, the plot was fast-paced and had me curious about the mystery of who the bad guys were, and the romance had nice chemistry...but the romance development itself felt both wishy-washy and like it moved too quickly for me given the questionable trust between them. On top of that, I felt like the characters and plot don't hold up as well to scrutiny given the disbelief I had to suspend for some parts. I'm still mostly on a GR break so I'm not going to get into a long review, I'll do some bullet points instead for once and also point out that this book has a bunch of very happy and satisfied reviews so while parts didn't work for me, they did work really well for others.

- intelligent and resourceful archaeologist h on a mission to bring truth to her brother's death
- intelligent and service-driven H with a military background who is getting started in politics and gets a big ole wakeup call that something bad's happening in his mercenary type compound
- lots of suspense, danger, and violent attacks
- questionable side characters and likable side characters who are also questionable
- heck of a lot of distrust happening, including between the h and H
- cute cat
- lots of lust and a couple "should they really be thinking of getting down in this moment" times
- steamy scenes
- short timeframe (I think this was under a week)
- good sense of who the h and H were (and I liked them)
- I needed more relationship building scenes outside of their forced proximity and "our lives are in danger" bonding moments. The exchange of I love you's felt too soon for me.
- epilogue is 8 months later and sweet showing them happy and as a solid couple
- I felt vaguely unsatisfied at the end though and kept thinking about why certain events happened and wanting more from the relationship development

Written in third person, multi-POV (mostly h and H but at least one scene with a side character's POV). No ow/om drama and neither were virgins (don't recall any history for the H and just a blip of a mention of a past boyfriend for h).

Trigger warnings: mention of PTSD, mentions of death, mentions of torture, medical experimentation discussed, mentions of stalking

I gave this audiobook a B+ for both the story and narration at AudioGals.

Narrated by Nicol Zanzarella

As a romantic suspense title that will cause you to question just who your allies and enemies truly are, Incriminating Evidence is sure to pique your curiosity. This title delivers more than just suspense, with an interesting enemies- to-lovers romantic plot that takes up equal, or near equal, time in its development as the suspense angle. Additionally, for the audiobook lovers, the narration by the talented Nicol Zanzarella makes this a good romantic suspense title to enjoy in audiobook format.

Isabel Dawson is determined to uncover the true reason why her older brother Vin died. His death has been ruled a training accident, as he was employed by a paramilitary organization named Raptor and was on their training compound in Alaska when he died. However, she is convinced that Vin’s death was no accident – it was murder. Vin died while on the land owned by Raptor, and the Raptor CEO, Alec Ravissant (a former army ranger turned politician who is running for a Senate seat in Maryland), is blocking her attempts to obtain more information about circumstances surrounding his death. The situation has gotten so heated that Alec has even obtained a restraining order prohibiting Isabel from going on Raptor land.

But Isabel is a determined woman as well as an archaeologist who is used to solving mysteries. So she ignores the restraining order, determined to find a cave that Vin mentioned to her and which she is convinced holds the evidence she needs to prove his murder. What Isabel could never have counted on, however, was stumbling upon her nemesis, Alec Ravissant, while exploring the land. Moreover, Alec has been attacked and is unconscious giving her no option but to help him. She’s so tough, in fact, that she creates a makeshift device (travois) to pull his body miles in the cold Alaskan terrain to a small shelter. Without her aid, he would have frozen to death. However, when he wakes up, he pays her back not with thanks, but by having her arrested!

But as Alec begins to regain his strength and starts to do some digging of his own, he starts to see that Isabel may just have been right all along, and even more distressing, given her undoubtedly negative effect on his campaign, undeniably alluring. So Alec reaches out to Isabel who, though skeptical, is also not willing to lose an opportunity to bring closure to her brother’s case. But can they really trust each other? Thus begins a journey where they begin to uncover a number of clues. But not everything is as it seems. Can Alec and Isabel discover the truth before danger looms in and gets one or both of them? Moreover, could there possibly be a HEA in the cards for this couple?

I'm really excited to have found this author - I love romantic suspense but I find it hard to find a lot of books that I like in this genre. Annika Martin, aka Carolyn Crane sends out a weekly newsletter with one dirty quote from the book she is reading. That is how I discovered this book. This is a new to me author, and I will definitely be checking out her backlist.

Isabel is an archeologist who looks for signs of prehistoric occupation before the timber harvest comes into this Alaskan forest. Isabel likes her job - hiking through the wilderness of Alaska, she is extremely isolated but feels comfortable with her gun and bear spray handy. That is until she comes across an unconscious man in her path.

Alec is a very wealthy man who is running for a senate seat in Maryland. So why is he unconscious in an Alaskan forest? Even he isn't quite sure. Alec is the CEO of a defense contracting company called Raptor. Years ago he took his money and bought 30,000 acres of land and the compound where now many elite military and some non-miltary people train. After some encouraging, Alec decided to change paths a bit, and run for the empty senate seat and if he wins he is going to step back from his CEO position at Raptor. But until then, he was going to his Raptor headquarter for some training. But now he is laying in the forest, with a severe headache and bleeding head, and he comes to discover, his nemesis patching him up and dragging him to a nearby abandoned cabin.

Isabel's brother Vincent was one of those men training at Raptor, when he died. Ruled an accident by some, a suicide by others, Isabel is convinced he was murdered. Alec followed up somewhat with his death, but nowhere near to the extent that Isabel thought appropriate. She has made it her life's mission to shut down the Raptor compound, and did for two months. But now they are up and running again, and Isabel has a restraining order against her to not go onto their land. She doesn't realize the hurt man she is patching up and dragging to the cabin is Alec. But she will soon find out.

This book really has a fun and engaging premise. I love black-ops/special-ops/military action and throw it into the woods of Alaska with a great heroine and some really bad guys - and I'm all set. Isabel and Alec, once they recognize each other - become instant enemies. Isabel does not trust Alec at all, thinking he had something to do with covering up her brother's murder. Alec sees Isabel as the world's largest nuisance, and wants nothing to do with her. But Alec was attacked - left dying in the woods. And Isabel did help him out - so maybe she wasn't the one who initially attacked him. But then who? They both start grudgingly working together, as more bad things happen! Secret weapons and some good twists make this suspense fun.

These two may initially hate each other - but the romance eventually starts to build. Isabel admits she is in lust with the sexy former Ranger, but she feels guilty for this because she hasn't 100% convinced herself that he is completely trustworthy. But Alec really is a good guy and she eventually starts to trust him. I really liked both of them - they are tough and they don't let the other get away with anything. They have really good chemistry.

I also feel like the detail with the military training and weapons and the Alaskan landscape in general are really presented well. A lot of detail that makes everything very realistic - something you don't always get in romantic suspense books.

This is very much a standalone book, but I will be checking out the previous books in the series.

This was kind of a slog for me. The beginning was strong and suspenseful, but I struggled to remain engaged.

The plot - or at least how it unfolded - was not the most riveting. Alec, former Army Ranger cum military contractor CEO cum senatorial hopeful - yes, that's a lot, and no, his character didn't feel very authentic - is ambushed in the Alaskan wilderness. Archaeologist Isabel saves his life, but the two are not on good terms: she is relentlessly investigating the suspicious "accidental" death of her brother, who worked for said contractor. They form a tentative alliance to uncover the truth behind his death - while trying to avoid their own.

I didn't particularly care for the warring military contractor premise, with its focus on covert advanced weaponry and ruthless mercenaries. Nor did I like the slow, isolated setting. Unfortunately, the relationship suffered from the "inappropriate lust at inappropriate times" curse that frequently plagues romantic suspense novels. Rachel Grant is usually excellent at avoiding this, but the attraction felt too instant and forced. Moreover, it manifested during bizarre circumstances. Give me the lust, the feels, the love - but only when it makes sense!

Four installments down, and the first is still my favorite.

Author: Rachel Grant
Recommended for: fans of romantic suspense novels

I received this book through GoodReads FirstReads competition for free.

This is the first book that I have read in the Evidence series and so I thought that maybe I might feel like I had missed loads out and that I would be completely lost...but this didn't happen, I still enjoyed reading the book even though I hadn't read the other 3 novels in the series.
The books focuses on the characters of Isabel and Alec who you can feel the romantic chemistry growing between throughout the book. It is packed with suspense, action and romance which for me is the perfect combination! I was very well written by Rachel Grant who manages to write in such a way that the reader gets completely caught up in what happens in the story and what is going on between the characters it is as if we are stood watching it all play out. Both Isabel and Alec are very likeable characters who are fun to get to know and who are realistic. The Point of View switches between Isabel and Alec which adds that bit more depth too the characters. I am definately going to read some more books in the series!

4.5 stars. This was my read for October's prompt of Romantic Suspense/Paranormal in the TBR Challenge.

This is the fourth book in Rachel Grant’s Evidence series, but fortunately, this is a series in which all the stories are self-contained, so it’s not absolutely necessary to have read the other books. There are some characters who have obviously appeared before and it’s clear that certain plot details were planted in previous books, but the author has given enough information here for a newbie like me to be able to dive right in and enjoy.
Incriminating Evidence is a fast-moving, well-paced story with plenty of intrigue, nail-biting moments of peril and action running alongside a sexy and nicely developed romance between an unlikely couple – an introverted archaeologist and a wealthy businessman running for political office.

Isabel Dawson is an archaeologist whose current gig is searching for ancient settlements that could be threatened by the upcoming timber harvest in Alaska. Shes a bit of a loner, so her job of hiking through the remote wilderness suits her and she enjoys it – although right now, she isn’t completely focused on her task. Around a year earlier, her brother Vincent, a soldier, was killed, supposedly on a training mission at Raptor, a private security firm that trains military personnel in combat techniques designed specifically to be employed in the war against terror. Isabel is convinced Vin’s death wasn’t an accident, but her attempts to instigate an investigation have met with dead ends, principally due, she believes, to the fact that Raptor CEO Alec Ravissant ordered a cover-up. She has emails from her brother that indicate he believed he had been kidnapped, tortured and experimented upon, and Isabel is determined to find out the truth by finding the location Vin described. But her plans are disrupted when she literally stumbles across a badly injured man in the woods. She has to make a quick decision. She is miles from her car and from the Raptor Compound, but there is an old settler’s cabin a mile away. If she leaves the man to go for help, there’s the chance that whoever worked him over will come back to finish him off, or that he’ll die of exposure, so she patches him up as best she can, fashions a make-do stretcher, lashes him to it and drags him all the way to the cabin. It’s only once there that she realises that the man whose life she has just saved is none other than Alec Ravissant.

When Alec eventually comes round, Isabel begins to regret her decision to save him; not only is he violent towards her, he’s rude and ungrateful, having her arrested on suspicion of kidnapping him once his security team locates them the next morning. Alec has no memory of what happened to him; he remembers driving and then swerving to avoid something in the road – then nothing until he comes to when Isabel is dragging him to the hut. He quickly realises that even though Isabel Dawson has been a thorn in his and Raptor’s side for some time, she may in fact be the only person he can trust, as there is clearly something untoward going on at the Raptor Compound, and everyone is suspect.

I can’t say much more without spoilers, but the plot is ingenious and very well constructed. Alec and Isabel are great characters who strike sparks off each other from the get-go, and I enjoyed the way the author gradually develops the trust between them. Isabel is a bit skittish; the death of her parents when she was a child, and then of the brother who more or less raised her has made her wary of getting attached to people and places, so she moves around a lot and never puts down roots. Alec comes from old money and was groomed to enter politics practically from the cradle, but veered off the path his family had mapped out for him by spending twelve years in the military. Now, however, he's ready to face the challenge of the political arena, having discovered that his desire to serve his country and its people has not ended with his departure from the Rangers. As well as being a total hottie, he’s a great guy; quick to own up to the fact that he could have done more to investigate Vincent’s death, and to realise that his feelings for Isabel go way beyond the intense sexual attraction that pulses between them. I liked that there is a real sense of equality between them in spite of their different backgrounds. Isabel is smart, sassy and more than capable of looking after herself in tricky situations; Alec knows that and respects her for it, and while he wants to protect her, he recognises her abilities and her need to be involved with the search for evidence regarding her brother’s death. Ultimately, their romance is believable; the chemistry between them sizzles and the sex scenes are nice and steamy.

I enjoyed the book very much, but I do have one or two niggles about the story overall. Isabel is ready on several occasions to believe the worst of Alec and to run from him, either refusing to believe his explanations or refusing to allow him to make one; and it got a bit old after the first time or two. It also seems that Alec rebuilds his political campaign very easily given all the problems that arise as a result of his relationship with Isabel. I’m not an expert by any means, and certainly not on US politics, but this does seem to have been somewhat hand-waved away.

All in all however, Rachel Grant has crafted a compelling story that revolves around a series of strange attacks and incidents, and an unusual and very cleverly thought-out secret weapon that is scarily plausible. The background detail relating to the military/special-ops aspect of the story is interesting and well-done, and the descriptions of the Alaskan wilderness are very evocative, putting the reader right there. Incriminating Evidence was my first experience of Ms. Grant’s writing but it definitely won’t be my last.

I received this book from Netgalley for my honest review.

I'm glad to have read this book and kept on with this series!
The last book was way to short and less complicated, but this one got right back on tracks!

The story is unusual as I became used with Ms. Grant's RS.
The storytelling was excellent and the MCs were wonderful!

I loved both of them and their consistency! There was not a moment of TSTL behaviour! Wonderful!

Great addition to the series and very recommended to all RS fans! :)

I had the pleasure to preview Incriminating Evidence (Evidence #4) by Rachel Grant . As with other books in the “Evidence” series it was a great book…I truly enjoyed this book, maybe more than the other books in the series – and highly recommend it for readers who enjoy Romantic Suspense.

The book had a good plot with an even mix between the “who-dun-it” and the romance. The lead characters were well defined, and equally matched in personal conviction and “alpha” traits. No frail, need to be saved female lead here!

The romance had lots of sexual tension, and the chemistry between Alec & Isabel could be felt by the reader. Once the smoldering fire ignited, it was well written, tasteful, with some good one liners and supportive of the overall plot. The twists and turns of the plot, cast suspicion on many of the supporting characters. The writing was evenly paced and at no time did it feel rushed. The HEA was as expected, and the author left no loose ends as far as the overall plot went.

As I read the book I couldn't help but remember an old Kate Bush song – Experiment IV, track #9 on the album The Whole Story. Published by Lyrics © Sony/ATV Music Publishing LLC

“We were working secretly
For the military
Our experiment in sound
Was nearly ready to begin

We only know in theory what we are doing
Music made for pleasure
Music made to thrill
It was music we were making here until

They told us, all they wanted
Was a sound that could kill someone
From a distance, so we go ahead
And the meters are over in the red
It's a mistake in the making”

I wish to extend my thanks to the author, NetGalley and All Night Reads for the advanced readers copy. The book has an expected publishing date of Mar 24 2015.

For me this was a 5 star read, and I have a personal copy on pre-order, as Rachel Grant deserves the support for this great book.

A+ for originality and creativity. I love how this author incorporates something that a reader may or may not have heard of and twist it into a captivating thrill ride of a story.

When this book starts out it looks normal enough. A archeologist is in the forest of Alaska doing surveying. She is also grieving over the death of her brother which happened to be in the same forest when she comes across a man who face has been beaten and he is bleeding from a nasty head wound. Being too far away from her vehicle or any cell services she manages to make a tarp and drags him to an old cabin. She figures out who he is not long after and it’s the man she blames for the death of her brother, one she started a war against by trying to close down the security company he runs.

After the reveal of their identities some things like you’d only see in a science fiction movies happen. They were soo cool. Now I should saw it was hurtful things to the heroine and hero but for me as a reader this is where I was silently rejoicing at a suspense plot I’ve never read before which these days come far and few between.

I’m not going tell what those things were cause I think the reader needs to experience them as the author reveals them in the book. But all aspects of the story were great – the plot – the main characters who have a strong love/hate relationship thing going that was HOTTT – very sexy steaming love scenes and even some sick torture of the like I’ve not read before.

I highly recommend this series to anyone that’s looking for something different than cookie cutter romantic suspense. Each of these books has been so thrilling to read and I cannot wait to get the next one.

What a kick ass read! The setting in Alaska was refreshing but what's more it actually plays an active role in the story. Isabel and Alec are both determined and it takes a lot of tries for them to get past their mutual prejudices and work together, but once they do they make a formidable team. Incriminating Evidence was a sexy, adventurous, exciting read and I can't wait to see what Rachel Grant brings us next!

5 Strong Stars for Rav & Iz! This was a great read for me:) It had all of my favorite elements in spades: romance/suspense/strong characters. I loved both main characters. The story line was tight with strong suspense/intrigue/action but without being exhausting. There also was no 'getting into' the book. The action took off from page one and never looked back! This is #4 in a series, but can be read as a standalone. However, if you're like me, you'll want to go back and read the others:)

My Review:

Hands down, this was just a great romantic suspense story. The story switches pov between Isabel and Alec who are two very different people.

Isabel is an outdoor girl. She's an archeologist who inspects forestry sites for signs of past civilizations before the forestry comes in and does work. She spends a lot of the time outdoors, by herself, and she's perfectly okay with that. She grew up and her brother Vin raised her from her teen years. They were close until he died the year before under suspicious circumstances at the Raptor compound.

Alec is old money. He was raised to take up the politics mantle and in an effort to truly find himself, joined the military and ended up as a highly-decorated Ranger. When he got out, he bought the contracting defense company, Raptor, so he could continue to make a difference with helping in the training of the military. He found that wasn't enough though, so he is now in the middle of a senatorial bid. He can't afford for scandal to happen at his Raptor compound, but Isabel isn't letting things rest.

Isabel is sure something is fishy with her brother's death. He was as much, if not more, of an outdoor person than her. With his military training, there is no way he should have died from exposure which is what she's being told. But Raptor, and specifically it's CEO, Alec, have stonewalled her so she's decided to see what she can find out on her own. While doing her job with a bit of side-snooping, she discovers Alec in the middle of the forest, unconscious and hurt. Suddenly everything is looking suspicious, including both Alec and Isabel. No one knows who is trustworthy and who's not.

This book is action-packed and full of suspense and intrigue. But at the heart of all that is the sizzling chemistry between Alec and Isabel. I loved them even when neither was sure about the other, they still were incredible together. I also really loved that Vin had wanted to get them together before he died. This isn't a military novel per se, but it definitely has that feel because most the operatives and operations are from the military world. I thought the suspense line with the secret weapon was brilliant and loved how none of the attacks made sense until the weapon was revealed. So forward thinking and innovative. I liked the twists and turns and just overall loved the entire book.

This was my first Rachel Grant read, but it definitely won't be my last. If you enjoy romantic suspense, especially those with a military influence, I highly recommend this one!

I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.

I loved the Alaskan setting, the black ops theme, and the tension between Isabel and Alec. They start as enemies, not trusting each other at all then morph into lovers then into a couple. I'm not generally a fan of the enemies to lovers trope but this worked for me. Their dislike and mistrust was believable and so was the attraction and the transition. They both fought their attraction, though Isabel more so. She blames Alec's company for her brother's death and for covering up the facts. The truth was more, and worse, than either of them imagined. Trusting each other was challenging; there were a lot of assumptions, misinformation, and a few failed instances of communicating. But. They talked and worked through things. They needed to talk as they were looking into her brother's death, attempts on both their lives, and intrigue and conspiracies within his company. I did figure out fairly early who the villains were but was only partially right as to the motives.

This book might work as a stand alone but some of the events arise from events in earlier books and characters from all of the earlier books are in here. Grant does a pretty good job of incorporating them and giving the right amount of backstory and detail but it's probably best appreciated if you have read one or more of the others.

"Incriminating Evidence" was twisty, steamy, action packed, and an entertaining read. I definitely want to read the next in the series.

Excellent read! Anyone who has read many of the reviews that I have written or my bio knows that I am a huge fan of romantic suspence, especially when it involves military, or ex-military. This book has my favorites and is written really well.

You will not be bored and you will be shocked. The characters are many and are very well thought out and their parts are done in such a great way. I found myself holding my breath several times through out this book. It really took me through many emotions and is exactly the kind of book to get lost in. Block out some time because you are going to want to stay on this ride.

I look forward to going backward in this series to catch up and continuing it forward. This is an author to add to you must read all her books list.

I loved the suspense! Not knowing who to trust, the thrill of the search, and the mystery surrounding Alec’s kidnapping and how it ties to Isabel’s brother’s death...I was glued! The enemies to lovers romance between Alec and Isabel was just as enticing. They had such raw sizzle, I mean how did these two not blow the compound with their attraction?!

Book safety, content warnings, and tropes down below.

I didn’t love this as much as I did previously, but I still enjoyed it a lot. Rachel Grant is a gem and this series especially is amazing. I like how so many of the books deal with betrayal and trust issues while they have to deal with external issues. So perfect for me.

The plot in this is a little crazy and unrealistic, but it is highly entertaining at least, lol. I don’t love the MCs in this book as much as I do the ones in Body of Evidence and Concrete Evidence, but it’s worth the read for the mystery alone.

In the end, a much better book that I thought it would be, once I got past all the anti-terrorist training camp detail. I guess not being an American (therefore not such a target) means I am not so into all that. But I got sucked in to the suspense and the mystery, even . I am totally crap at dealing with that sort of stuff. It just freaks me out. It was an exciting story, all the same.
I found the heroine a bit too crude and sexually aggressive for my taste. I also wonder how you can sleep with someone, when all the while you don't trust them to not have been a part of your brother's murder. (It is a little problematic for me, ascribing "masculine" sexuality to women. I think we generally do not compartmentalise as easily as men and tend to invest emotionally in any kind of relationship. That your potential lover might have killed your brother? That's ok- I will still totally DO him. But that is just my opinion.)

I have the next 2 in the series (bought as a bundle of 3) so will continue on, but these are certainly not for the faint-hearted!

Right behind Linda Howard, Rachel Grant is becoming my go to author for Romantic Suspense!!

What I liked: The action begins with the very first page. The synopsis gives a good idea about the storyline but it can't describe the tension between Isabel and Alec. Not only sexual tension but they dance around each other so much, you can also feel the distrust. I appreciated the way Ms Grant portrayed Isabel and Alec. She acknowledges the attraction but these two are far from ready to abandon their preconceived thoughts about the other. Right when you think they are on the same page, something happens to push them apart.....tension!

There are several mysteries surrounding not only the death of Isabel's brother but the abduction of Alec. No one knows who to trust which made for excellent reading. The storyline is well developed and believable especially with all the technology available today. The setting in Alaska was also something I enjoyed. I do wish there had been more time spent on the area and it's full time inhabitants but that's a minor want for me.

The secondary characters, who are all under suspicion of being "the bad guy", were pretty well developed and utilized to further the storyline. I did figure out one part of the bad guy mystery but still Ms Grant was able to baffle me until the very end. That is key in a suspense book for me and she handled it extremely well with several surprised.

The whole idea of Raptor kept me intrigued. It is a plausible scenario in today's world and I like how Ms Grant hooked it into a Blackwater type of business. It made me wonder if there really are compounds like Raptor all over the U. S.

What I didn't like: You can probably tell I enjoyed Incriminating Evidence very much but in most cases of romantic suspense, I usually enjoy less sex and more turmoil.

Overall, Incriminating Evidence was an entertaining, suspenseful read and I would highly recommend any of Ms Grant's work. It can be read as a stand alone novel but why miss the enjoyment of meeting the characters from previous works.

Highly Recommended!!!!

Part of the Feel the Heat: 10 Steamy Romantic Suspense Novels collection.

I had not read the other books in this series, but it didn't detract from the story. The events and characters were all mostly local to the book, and the various twists and turns kept me intrigued. The main relationship was challenged by various conspiracies, which made the long build-up tolerable. In the end, the bad guy was a surprise, and they fell deeply in love (and sex!).

Should I read others in this series?

This is my first book by Rachel Grant because well to be honest it was pricey but it was free. I've always wanted to read her it was luck. I loved it smart and the suspense, makes you think. The who and why built up till the end kept me thinking. I love that Isabel is a bit snarky but has know how is pretty caring despite being cold at times. Alec is interesting I like that he wants to help how he knows. He's also passionate so he and Isabel butted heads.

The romance was fast but with this setting is was expected. I didn't mind at all. I felt the chemistry even when they disliked the other and all the initial misconceptions. I only wished for more as it ended cause it was good. I don't know if this continues in the next book but I will check ot out for sure. Good well balanced romantic suspense that has some other stuff in it too which is great!

I really liked Isabel and Alec. I think generally this one worked pretty well, but knocking off a little bit for

You can also tell that Night Hawk was written a few years after this, even though it's first in time.

Incriminating Evidence💚by Rachel Grant 💚

👩‍💻He was alive. Not murder, then. Attempted murder? Assault?🤵

היא פוגשת את אלק (הכרנו אותו קצת בספרים הקודמים של הסדרה).

איזבל לא ממש מחבבת אותו.. ויש לה סיבה מוצדקת לזה

👩‍💻it was hard to have kind feelings for the person who might have covered up her brother’s murder, especially when yesterday would have been that brother’s thirty-fourth birthday.👩‍💻

👩‍💻“Do you have pepper spray wipes, so I can clean my eye?”“Are you going to try to strangle me again?”“I don’t know.”“Then no.”🤵

איזבל קצת לא מחבבת אותו.. עוד יותר

👩‍💻“I should have left you in the woods to die,”👩‍💻

ומי יכול להאשים אותה.

👩‍💻“I’m going to sleep. Keep in mind, I’m jumpy when I’m stuck sleeping on a hard rotting floor not far from an idiot politician whose life I saved—who hasn’t even bothered to say ‘thank you’ yet—and who may still be in danger. In such situations, I sleep with my pistol in one hand and bear spray in the other. So if you don’t want to suffer, leave me the fuck alone.”👩‍💻

הם לא מתקרבים 😂

פוף פאף.. וזה משתנה..

🤵The pulse at the base of her throat jumped. Maybe he’d start there instead. He lowered his head. “This isn’t the smart thing,” Isabel said, her voice so soft it was almost a whisper. “The smart thing?” he asked.

“Sometimes you have to make a choice between the smart thing and the right thing. This isn’t the smart thing.”👩‍💻

לא לאורך זמן.. כן.

🤵Wanting Alec Ravissant wasn’t the smart thing or the right thing. It was the worst thing.👩‍💻

הוא מתחיל ממש לחבב אותה

🤵God, how he wanted her. She was strong and brave and smart.🤵

שלמוווותתתתת 😍😍😍😍

I struggled with this review because what do you say about probably your favorite read of the year? I can go on and on gushing about how much I love Rachel Grant and how I look forward to reading whatever she writes. This is my 6th Rachel Grant book of the year and we are only in March.

The moment I heard about Alec Ravissant in this series I was intrigued and I knew his story would be good. The Raptor owner had to be paired up with someone equally as intriguing and he met his match in fiery Isabel Dawson. Readers are first introduced to Isabel in the novella Night Owl. She is on a quest to find the truth behind her brother, Vin's death. Vin was a Raptor operative who died on Raptor land. Naturally there is going to be a lot of tension between her and Raptor's CEO who is also running for the senate seat in Maryland.

Rachel truly outdid herself. This book had so many of my favorite tropes, the action started right away and I never felt like it lagged. I was glued to this book. I went to bed at 5 am twice just because I couldn't put the story down. There was so much chemistry and tension between Alec and Isabel. I knew my mans was gonna fall fast and hard and HE DID. Obviously with everything that happened, Isabel had some reservations but Alec was sprung. At one point when Isabel voices her concerns with being attracted to him Alec was so desperate He was a goner and I was LIVING having a front place seat to this romance. He does grovel and is very remorseful for what happened. Best of all he is very supportive of Isabel. Isabel is probably my favorite heroine in Grant's book. I love her unwavering determination to get justice for her brother. She was smart and confident, she made no apologies for who she was but she was also human.

The book also threw some curveballs that had me questioning who was involved in the crime even in the last half. Another fun thing is that characters from previous books make appearances. The women in the Evidence Series multiverse are just comfort characters and I am glad the stories can interconnect in a way. That is a true testament to how well Grant thinks these story arcs out. Plus it's always nice to get little glimpses and updates from characters you enjoy.

This was a smart, sexy and fun read. Rachel grant has probably become my favorite author and this book is going to be one of my comfort reads for sure. I am excited to read about Undine next since I've heard a lot about her.

Reread 12/1/24 You know I needed my comfort characters. Still love them.

The “Evidence Series” by Rachel Grant is a fascinating combination of archeology, politics and war that keeps mankind hinging on edges of power play and destruction for personal gain and us readers at the edge of our seats and highly entertained.

“Incriminating Evidence” takes archeologist Isabel Dawson to the wilds of Alaska searching for truth about her brother Vin’s death as a Raptor operative on Raptor land. Saving the Raptor CEO Alec Ravissant was never on her hiking trail, yet she ends up saving the unconscious former ranger turned politician despite her reservations about him covering up her brother’s death.

Alec has no recollection of how he ended up unconscious or who would want to hurt him. But facing his red haired, sassy and smart savior sure sparks attraction that he wants to explore. Being a millionaire running for senate and operating an organization of covert operatives sure puts him in the crosshairs of danger, but now Isabel’s life is threatened as she ends up in his compound.

With the danger of betrayal coming from within the walls of the compound, Alec and Isabel have a traitor to catch and a passion to explore. With trust and honesty put to test, both have to go beyond their feelings to believe in each other enough to put their lives in each other’s hands. Alec and Isabel are two strong and courageous individuals, willing to sacrifice for each other to bring justice to her brother and put an end to the threat harboring the world.

With a sublime passion and an aura of lust between them, Rachel Grant does a brilliant job of weaving a tapestry of suspense and danger in the wilderness of Alaska. With no dearth of emotions and pain, Incriminating Evidence” takes you on a thrilling ride of pain and betrayal, trust and honesty, evil and destruction. And it is always wonderful to re-visit characters from the previous books of the series.

With so many small moments of tenderness and love, passion and lust, danger and betrayal, greed and evil, this is one entertaining and fascinating book you will not put down until the very last page is read.

I absolutely loved this book. It is the fourth book in this series, and in my opinion, it is the best. All the books in this series have been wonderful, but this one grabbed me from the first page. The story begins as Isabel finds Alec unconscious in the Alaskan wilderness. She manages to save his life, but has she risked her own life and safety by doing so? Immediately upon awakening, Alec (whose memory has been affected) accuses Isabel of being his attacker. This begins a back and forth attack and retreat between these two even as they fight the heavy pull of attraction they both feel. Isabel wants to uncover the plot that ended in her brother's death, and she believes Alec is behind the cover up. Alec insists he has been doing everything he can to help. Both retain their suspicions of each other.

Strange and dangerous things begin to happen. When Isabel is attacked with what appears to be two experimental weapons, Alec takes her back to the Raptor compound. He has been keeping her away, but it is the place where her brother died and the one place she wants to be. Unfortunately for her, once she is on the compound, the danger only escalates. Can she and Alec settle their differences and work together to find the weapons and the people wielding them, or is trying to work together only going to get them both killed?

This story was really well written and kept the action and suspense moving from the very beginning all the way until the end. The romance was also extremely sexy. Isabel was quirky and sassy with a soft insecure center. Alec was the " king tiger" in his domain. He was a total in charge alpha but with a devilishly charming way about him. I was completely enchanted by him. Characters from the previous books made appearances which added to the story for me. I am completely thrilled to have gotten a copy from Net Galley for review!
