Kate is British and is a university lecturer of Victorian literature. She’s married with two children and seems quite content with her life until one day, while in the staff loo, a pair of students sneak in and have wild sex in the adjacent stall. The encounter leaves her stunned, not by the act itself, but by the vocal young woman who surrenders herself with complete abandon. Anxious to experience the same, a very turned on Kate and her husband try to recreate the passion but they come up short. In order to provide them a chance to give Kate what she craves, they turn to the kink community.
As always, Raven Merlot dishes up erotica that leaves the reader breathless and satisfied. But, also as always, there is more going on than meets the eye. After reading her story I took a crash course in Victorian books; Thomas Hardy, Madam Bovary, Tess of the d’Urbervilles, and Lady Audley, Like Kate they had unconventional views on sex and the roles of women in society. But unlike her they did not have a loving husband like Daniel who not only has her back but leads her on as well.
“Sharing Kate” is an excellent addition to the “Shared Wives” collection but sadly this novella was over all too soon. But happily, Part Two will soon be on its way.

Fast, Fast, Fast

The description of the story says that the couple begin a cautious exploration of what they want.

I have to disagree, what they do isn’t cautious. Do some online investigating, find a guy that they can meet and talk with him. Immediately decide that they want her to have sex with him and her husband wants to watch.

Basically none of this has been well discussed between the two of them, just boom, we both want this and off we go.

Off they go so fast that her second encounter is having 2 guys play with her.

Okay this is an interesting story. Not a traditional cuckold/hotwife, maybe more like stag/vixen.

Anyway it takes no time for the wife to understand that she wants multiple men.

The rapidly evolving story takes a bit away from the story. It’s just too easy, they hardly discuss it together.

There’s absolutely no stress or tension in this story, which knocks it down quite a bit in my mind.

The story is okay, but for me certainly not a page turner. Not even an obvious way to transition to the second book. But I’m pretty much assured that she’ll be meeting multiple men and some women.

In fact I had to put it down for later, I was that bored. But I am going to go on to book three.

Raven Merlot’s stories are not so much spicy tales as they are erotic explorations. Her characters traverse unfamiliar territory not to become someone else, but rather to become more honest, complete versions of themselves.

Enjoyed the apprehension between Kate and Daniel. It thoughtfully showed the struggles couples have overcoming the inertia of decades of marriage. The difficulty in seeing each other with fresh eyes. The challenge of treating each other in new ways—especially if those ways go against how we see them…and ourselves.

Nice interplay between the literature Kate is teaching and the woman she is becoming.

I thought the British location was a nice change of pace and the “Britishness” was handled well.

This book definitely needs a sequel.

I understand that this author is not from the UK and she has done a wonderful job of describing life in Southern England populated with characters largely from a middle class professional background. Kate and Daniel are ordinary people in their 40's with kids and settled jobs. This is so refreshing instead of tall alpha males with ripped bodies and endless wealth along with young fantastically attractive submissive girls.

Kate and Daniel are leading normal fine lives when Kate has an epiphany in the staff toilet at Bath University. This leads her and Daniel to look into alternative lifestyles, thus meeting up with Adrian who is happy to enlighten them. Afterwards they are both open to expanding their experiences and pleasure.

Kate lives a plain, quietly predictable life as she lectures at the University in Bath, England. She lives there with her husband, Daniel, and children. However, she gets a little more than she bargained for as she was finishing up (after her lecture) one day. Her new experience really gets her thinking, stirs her up, and ignites her passion. Now she wants to feel all she can, being truly alive. That is where she really starts to find herself. I liked reading Kate's and Daniel’s journey (in this first part of their story).

Kate and Daniel have the normal everyday life until Kate overhears something that changes everything. They decide to start exploring relations outside the two of them. Kate spends an evening with Adrian and it starts their path. Next Daniel sets up a night with two men for her and they discover a whole new world opens for them.

This happens to be a part of the Shared Wives this is about Kate & Daniel a married couple that has been married for 20 years and ends up craving something different her husband doesn't panic or think different of her when she has feels she can't explain. Daniel offers something unexpected: trust strong enough to explore the unknown together, even when it challenges everything, they thought marriage was supposed to be, this one has a second part to it

Sharing Kate is very well-written, especially for erotica. I liked how the author created the FMC as a well-respected university professor in her early-40's who has a happy family consisting of a good husband, and two teenage children. The FMC is deeper and more realistic than the two-dimensional ones often portrayed in this genre.

In a faculty restroom, locked in a stall, the FMC inadvertently overhears a young couple barging into the restroom and getting passionate in a nearby stall. She should have been shocked and reported the incident. But instead, she became intensely aroused overhearing the couple's wild and uninhibited encounter. And that serves as her sexual re-awakening, leading her down the path into the sensual world.
