I honestly don’t know why I even opened this book. The first part didn’t impress me, yet my curiosity pushed me to continue… and at this point, I’m convinced that curiosity will one day give me a brain stroke.

As expected, this part offered nothing better in fact, it was even worse than the first one.

Serena breaks down after her father is killed in front of her… by her own lover she runs away from him, only to be kidnapped by Lorenzo’s enemies and locked in a basement for three months pregnant, starving, and treated horribly.

All that trauma...
All that suffering.

And the first thing she does after being released?
She has sex with him on the kitchen table… while saying she hates him and doesn’t want him.

The contradiction is glaring, and the absurdity is simply unbearable.

And as if that wasn’t enough, her friend walks in on them… and they still don’t stop.
The embarrassment was so strong that I immediately closed the book.

I’m truly done.
I have no energy left for this nonsense.

This book made a comeback so massive it reminded me of the academic comeback I'm yet to achieve.

“You can build walls, Serena. I’ll learn every brick. And I will still find my way back to you.”
SHAKESPEARE WHO?

The grovel IS SO FUCKING GOOD. It's insane. The amount of redemption this story, the plot, the characters did from the previous book in my eyes is PROFOUND. I was so much more invested in this now more than ever.

And then she appears.
Serena steps into the room, and the world recalibrates around her.
She looks radiant. Powerful. Untouchable.
And mine.

The kidnapping arc was truly GODSEND because their relationship which only had sex to show for 'love' until now, couldn't ask for a better and stronger wave than what the aftermath of the Serena's kidnapping has brought them. Truly amazing to see this woman's spine and the groveling for more than half the book.

He studies me, expression unreadable. “You know she can survive one day without you, right?” he says. “Go home. Sleep.”
“She can,” I murmur, eyes already drifting toward the door. “I’m the problem. I don’t function when I’m not where she is.”

The hero who goes insane looking for her for over three months and even after finding and getting her, he still needs forgiveness that she doesn't give for more than HALF THE BOOK, almost half the year it took her to truly forgive him. RARE GEM.

some random moments of frustration:

Sienna is a better friend than me because I'd have slapped tf outta Serena ATLEAST once in life specifically when miss ma'am is whining about "murder is wrong" for a guy who assaulted her🙏🏼 As much as she started to grown on me, there are times like these when her bitch of a conscience comes into play and makes my head ache with frustration. You wanna be treated as an equal partner to a mafia guy? How about you learn the basics😀 - stop being squeamish around bloodshed.

I can tolerate that as well (barely but whatever) but Sienna (the best friend who is a fucking baddie in the truest sense of word btw) is where I draw the line. Do. Not. Shout. At. My. Girl. For doing something you don't have the balls to do.

Sienna is a boss bitch, ready to shoot anyone who touchs her undeserving bestfriend wrong, not to mention - the only other person aside from the hero who genuinely has proven to move heaven & earth for Serena is = Sienna.

So forgive me if I don't take Serena's side over Sienna. I'm so protective of Sienna like she is my own bestfriend istg.

To an extent, I can even understand why Serena is the way she is and why she preaches about how everyone should not resort to murder. Understanding why however doesn't mean I like it, specifically when I see the murder being justified. I also hate it when the criminal in a dark romance is expected to change for the better for the heroine. This isn't why I chose a dark romance in the first place, either join them or stfu and stop changing the villains, FFS :)

I'm so fucking excited for Sienna's story but I'm honestly not thrilled about the whole Knox drama. I just want Andres Sienna together and nothing else.

I need to do better for Serena.
And apparently, that means taking care of her friends too, because when they’re unhappy, she feels it. And when she feels it, I feel it ten times worse.

Make no mistake, any other story with this same heroine with a conscience fit for a romcom - I'd have rated it much lower. But when I talk about comeback. I mean it sincerely. Because even with that characteristic of the h, it didn't overpower the other amazing events, plotline and characters that occurred. Which again was astonishing for sure but a pleasant surprise. Not to mention towards the end of the book, Serena grew into the role of someone fit to be in the cosa nostra and I loved that gradual -albeit frustrating- progression.

“I don’t care if it takes years,” he whispers. “I’ll earn every inch of forgiveness until there’s nothing left between us but truth. And when that day comes, I’ll hold you the way I’ve held you in my dreams, only this time you won’t disappear.”

ONCE AGAIN THE GROVEL IS COMMENDABLE. Lorenzo became an obsessed feral puppy for her I NEVER thought he could be like this coming from the first book.

“Yeah,” I admit, swallowing hard. “But how else am I supposed to spend the new year with her if I leave right before midnight?”
My gaze drifts back to the house, to the place where she is, where she chose to be without me.
“Even if I’m outside,” I go on quietly. “Even if she doesn’t know I’m here.” My voice lowers. “I want to be here. I need to be here. With her.”
Even from a distance.
Even unseen.
Even unwanted, if that’s what she needs right now.
I stay.

The plot? I've never been this invested in a mafia plot and their business like I was in this. It is absolutely without a doubt a masterpiece. The twists and turns were so fucking thrilling, I forgot I was reading a romance for once. I LOVE IT when that happens specifically when I'm caught unprepared.

If she never makes me her priority again, I’ll live with it.
As long as she stays breathing, safe, and unharmed, I’ll crawl on glass before I let anything touch her.
MY BROTHER IS SO DOWN BAD I CANT PUT IT INTO WORDS-

I cant wait for the rest of the series to be written and get sucked in this universe again, all the side characters (specifically Lev my fav guy whose story is next) have my utmost curiosity and love.

The premise was great but I could tell some of it was written by ai, if you’ve ever asked any artificial intelligence application to write you a novel you’d be able to spot it immediately.

I cannot tell you how happy the second book in this duet has made me! I love Lorenzo Moretti so bad.

The plot in this was amazing. It was gripping, so much so that I read over 3 quarters of the book in one go, and it’s currently 3am as I write this.

There were points where I was crying my eyes out, sometimes in sadness and frustration but other times in happiness and relief — A bit of a rollercoaster ride but all worth it in the end!

I can’t wait to read Lev & Clara’s book!!!

This book delivered such a massive comeback that it genuinely caught me off guard—it almost felt like the kind of redemption arc I keep promising myself academically but haven’t quite achieved yet.

“You can build walls, Serena. I’ll learn every brick. And I will still find my way back to you.”
Shakespeare, step aside.

The grovel? Absolutely top-tier. The level of redemption—across the plot, the characters, everything—felt huge compared to the previous book. I was way more emotionally invested this time around.

And then Serena walks in—and suddenly everything shifts. She’s no longer the same person. There’s something powerful, composed, almost untouchable about her presence now, and it changes the dynamic completely.

The kidnapping arc was honestly the turning point. Up until then, their relationship leaned heavily on physical attraction without much emotional depth. But what followed that arc? That’s where things finally gained weight. Watching Serena develop a backbone and seeing Lorenzo spend more than half the book trying to earn forgiveness was incredibly satisfying.

There’s something oddly compelling about a hero who completely unravels in her absence—searching for months, and even after finding her, still not being forgiven for a long time. That slow, hard-earned redemption felt rare and refreshing.

That said, I still had my moments of frustration. Serena’s moral compass can be… exhausting. I get where she’s coming from, and I can even respect it to a degree, but there were times it clashed so hard with the world she’s in that it pulled me out of the story. Wanting to be with someone in that life comes with certain realities, and her resistance to that can feel contradictory.

And then there’s Sienna—who, frankly, continues to outshine everyone. She’s fierce, loyal, and the kind of character who acts when it matters. The way she shows up for Serena, without hesitation, makes her one of the strongest presences in the book. It’s hard not to side with her when tensions rise.

Despite all that, I can admit Serena did grow on me—slowly, and sometimes frustratingly. By the end, she starts to feel more suited to the world she’s in, and that gradual shift, while not always smooth, was still satisfying to witness.

“I don’t care if it takes years,” he whispers. “I’ll earn every inch of forgiveness…”
And honestly? He backs it up. Lorenzo’s transformation into someone completely devoted—almost feral in his loyalty—was something I didn’t expect after the first book.

Some of his quieter moments hit just as hard as the dramatic ones—the kind where he chooses to stay close to her, even if she doesn’t want him there, just to feel near her. That level of restraint and longing added a softer, more emotional layer to his character.

Plot-wise, this book completely pulled me in. The mafia elements felt gripping and unpredictable, to the point where I occasionally forgot I was reading a romance. The twists, the pacing, the tension—it all worked.

And by the end of it, I was fully hooked—not just on the main couple, but on the entire cast. Characters like Lev especially have me curious for what’s next, and I’m both excited and a little impatient to dive back into this world.

All in all, even with a few lingering frustrations, this felt like a genuine comeback. The kind that reminds you why you stuck with the series in the first place.

This might be. MIGHT BE. the best mafia romance book i’ve EVER READ. Oh my god this book is perfect. let me get the critiques out of the way, it is extremely plot heavy. there are so many twists and turns that it can be hard to keep track off. there are also alot of characters and almost all are key characters, even when you don’t think so, but the characters were all interesting in their own ways. i’m actually hoping we will get more of the side characters specifically, Lev, sienna, and Andreas! Now. i don’t even know where to start. this book was the perfect pace. perfect length. close to perfection. Lorenzo, lorenzo, lorenzo. oh you are everything i want in a man. he is the opposite of non chalant, he loves serena and he makes it known. every complaint ive ever had about mafia men was resolved in this book, their ego being too high, not lorenzo, this man would crawl for his woman. ineffective communication, nope this man declares his love so loudly it’s uncomfortable to spectators. too toxic: for me he is just right, toxic enough to be interesting, not enough where it’s toxic. His dedication to serena is honestly jarring in the best way possible. Now moving on to serena: to me she is the perfect mix of dynamic, intelligent, feminine. I love serena! i’ve read so many mafia books that often the characters and plots get blurred but i can confidently say that this duet is one of very few stories i actually remember after finishing it. i loved this duet. i love enzo and serena. ALSO! the smut was perfect. it was equal parts hot and spicy and soft and endearing. My man lorenzo can do both! this duet is CRIMINALLY underrated!!! I would rate him high as Nico Russo, and Russo is one of the few men who check all my boxes for good mafia mmc. I loved the way lorenzo is written. i think is is actually a lot harder to write a mafia mmc than we ought to believe there needs to be balance. too much toxicity it borderlines scary and abusive. too soft and i’m thinking that he probably sucks at being a mafia boss. i loved the evolution of lorenzo, what was initial intrigue grew into infatuation to possession and what could be love but the unhealthy kind and to the evolution into the no limit love that borders unhealthy but he would move mountains. he would die for her because to lorenzo being with serena is the blood that supplies him, the oxygen he needs to breathe. and to be without is like cutting off that supply. take that how you will. i finished this book in two days. two days. and i feel genuinely so giddy. i haven’t felt this way about a book it too long. i had been in a DROUGHT! but this book reminds me of the love and infatuation i had with reading when i first started reading and i have been yearning to feel that same feeling once more and this duet made me feel exactly like that. this book is so severely underrated and i hope every reads this and enjoys it as much as i did. xxx

Let’s unpack.

Dude. This whole book is one big sex fest.
I don’t know why I thought it would get better. I enjoyed number one even tho lorenzo was oddly infatuated super fast. But this one takes the biscuit.
The kidnapping? The actual fuck then ohhh yeah pregnant: of course.
Gets her back and he is godly smitten. Burn the world for her shit. See I like that but oh my god serena was insufferable. Babe don’t say you don’t want him back or whatever then ride his dick.
The brother story line was weak. Hated it.
Then TWINS?! Yeah ok let’s make this even more stupid. I hate the kids names. Sorry
Then it’s just constant sex. You like being my whore don’t you baby.
And her mother? Fuck I hate her mother but the thing with the injecting stuff in her to keep her body attractive. Like the actual fuck.
Trafficking, Beaumont diamond.
Fuck off!
And then hiding the babies in a fucking play house LOL
The fucking dogs names. The whole fucking thing.
And ofc they get married and have sex constantly.
Actually don’t know why I continued. Whattpad status.

SOO first and foremost I loveee Serena and Lorenzo..
also this book has a pregnancy trope and everybody that knows me knows that pregnancy trope is one of my favvv tropes.

Book 2 was good, the plot kept going and we still got to know the side characters as well. What I didn’t like was that it felt like there was so much drama just for the sake of it being dramatic.. like this book was soo long.

I loved there baby’s but I’m sad that we didn’t get more wholesome scenes with them, and also Milkshake and Pancake I wish we would have gotten more scenes with them.

I didn’t really feel satisfied at the end of the book, like we had SO MUCH drama but in the end I felt like there was still so much to unwrap and I didn’t really feel finished.

I’m glad Serena and Lorenzo got their happy ending, and that she finally got to be an author.

Overall a nice read if you’re in the mood for a mafia romance that feels like a wattpad book - in a good way.

Needs a lot of cleaning up

I read both of the books in this duet after seeing a snippet of one of them on my TikTok fyp. The first book I gave two stars. I wanted to believe that the second book could be better, but that was unfortunately not the case. I feel like the author thought of every single mafia romance trope and decided to attempt to fit them all into these books and it just didn't work. There were several holes and inconsistencies with the plot and even more issues with grammar. The overall "word flow" made certain parts of the story and character interactions feel clunky. I have read dozens and dozens of mafia romance tropes and this is sadly one of the worst I have completed. I truly tried to give these books a shot, but they continually fell flat. I do believe the author has potential to write well, but this was not a good showing for them.

110% my all time favorite book.
This trumps every single one I have read, just when I thought I truly had a favorite. Again, this will live rent free in my head and heart forever.
There’s quite literally nothing like Lorenzo and Serena’s love!
Lorenzo is the man everyone wishes for, Serena is the woman that has all the boundaries and still shows up & loves just as fiercely.
The way Lorenzo goes to war for her is so deep. The way she protects her babies. Let us not forget Pancake and Milkshake.
Even the epilogue of Maddox and Celeste. Everything about this duet is phenomenal and I am so sad it has come to an end.

As soon as I hit 2 hours left of the book, I repeatedly read some and put it down just to drag it out a little longer.. so wasn’t ready for it to be over!

I loved being back in this world. It immediately pulled me back in like I never left, and I was fully invested in everything again within a few chapters.
The tension, the drama, the chaos… exactly what I want from a dark mafia romance 😌
Also… I’m definitely not ready to let this world go yet. There are way too many side characters that deserve their own story, so I’m really hoping (and lowkey expecting 👀) more books in this universe.
Overall, if you’re into dark mafia romance with intensity, drama, and characters that keep you hooked, this one delivers 🤸‍♀️

The book was good but serena i kid you not was crying for the whole book. LIKE CONSTANTLY. like i know what she went through was crazy but like every chapter she is literally crying, tears falling every chapter I CANT. I REALLY COULDN’T i still finished it but I lowkey kinda had to skip over some of the crying cuz it was getting too much. But again just like the first book they spent a most of their time having sex like 😐😐. still read i though cuz the plot was SICKKKKKK i been had a feeling i knew who helped in her kidnapping. STILL READ I PROMISE BUT LIKE JUST BE PREPARED FOR THE CRYING.

oh god i love them😭😭

this book was actually so healing and everything i needed after the first book ending, it was honestly beautiful to read about their growth and seeing lorenzo so completely obsessed with serena despite her not being interested.

i definitely loved the first book more, this one gave me more of the found family and sweet moments compared to the dark romance in the first one but i still love the series so so deeply.

super impressed with this and i can’t wait to read more!!
